While it might be a weird thing at first, NOT screaming at civilians right away will save you. Its better to secure them after clearing the area because enemies will hear you literally from anywhere.

If I had faith that Void could implement and flawlessly deploy either in-game AI sliders, or complete overhaul that makes them less 'difficult' but more behaviorally appropriate per map while adding dynamicity to their behaviors, I would also be fine with that lmao

If I wanted another game to hold my hand through a vaguely realistic shooter with no particular substance and overly scripted bots I have plenty of other options.

I'm mostly concerned with the game's design in a holistic sense. What information is provided to the player, what choices do they have at any given moment, is it fun and engaging to play the game in the way that's being incentivized by the mechanics, etc.
I think an experience being realistic and feeling realistic are two separate ideas.
At the end of the day a game like this is really just a puzzle game. How do you adjust your problem solving skills to adapt and overcome the next scenario put in front of you. What I'd love to see is more sensible diversity of behaviors based around enemy types and more ways they can manipulate the environment to their advantage.
What I'd hate to see is the AI behaviors to be stuck at this degree of complexity but lose any sense of challenge fighting them. As they are right now they're a fairly solvable puzzle. The environments themselves are the biggest threats, which is why Greased Palms is hated by so many for example.
The game would be 100 percent more enjoyable if the AI weren't crackhead snipers. They really bunced their accuracy where I dread going into every room because even though I know I'm supposed to be a highly trained police officer, I get domed by Cracky McGillicuddy every other room
IMO, the aim is to emphasize realism in the ways that make gameplay fun and intuitive (being able to apply real CQB ideas to the game is super cool), but cast it aside when it does the opposite (outnumbering the suspects to such a significant degree that it actually minimizes risk like IRL would be boring).
The most fun I had was on the conspiracy guy map, where there were maybe three suspects in a dynamic house environment
that one mission is fun where it feels like the transformers FBI raid scene
I personally like that entering a room stupidly, or holding a bad corner, etc, will get me shot. Because that's my fault. Close quarters battle is extremely dangerous. Enemies popping you easily inside of twenty feet is brutally fair and you can do it right back to them. That's why we have good armor.
Throwing 25 suspects at a team of five is not only unrrealistic, it just isnt fun, you run out of ammo by the third firefight
Part of the "AI is too accurate" issue, is that while players suffer debuffs for injuries, the AI has no such system.
And the penalty for shooting on the move is very minor.
Shooting them in the arms will not decrease proficiency reloading/handling two handed weapons.
Shooting them in the legs will not decrease their movement speed or limit their faster options like fleeing.
Shooting them in the hands will not cause them to drop their weapons randomly.
Repeated hits to armor have no effect besides suspects going "ooooh ooof ouchy" for a few seconds, and then returning to 100% efficiency
Sometimes I can understand that people feel that the lack of choice on a game brings aspects of it down but unfortunately the argument "this is not realistic" that is popular on reddit overlooks a lot of other real issues. Like @crude prism has said, if a choice is bad then we should elaborate on why it is bad. Or if there is a purpose, let the dev communicate that. Sadly some decisions are made because-lol and leave players up for speculation, just for VOID to start calling misinformation out about the AI but wont elaborate on a proper counter.

Like, for all the discussion I've had about the game, I've made exactly one proper feedback post in the forum and it's multiple paragraphs regarding the SWAT's LTL usage. I really try to think through my feedback, lol.

For some reason only pepperspray has an accuracy debuff on it, that slowly recovers over time. Pepperball/flashbangs/CS Gas have NO penalty to suspect vision

Flashbangs should wear off quickly. They're not that magical like games love to make them out to be. But the gas? No way. That's gonna be burning for awhile

This is because the grenade hit-tracing is based on a line drawn from the grenade to the suspect (I believe it is true-center on the model, not actually a to-the-eye check)
Any amount of floor clutter, debris, or something like a table leg can completely block the tracing

Flashbangs are meant to temporarily disorient, not blind or stun really. That's supposed to be what stingers are good for is a physical pain stunning.

It ain't flashing just for the hell of it.
It's not entirely dissimilar from a high powered camera flash going off in your eyes.
It will disorient you visually, but it does not blind you
There's also a large pressure release from the grenade exploding which you can feel and is jarring, and an extremely loud bang that hurts your ears a bit.
A cursory google says about 5 seconds of blinding, not including the afterimage that can disrupt your vision further.
The 'proper' way for the Grenade tracing system to work, involves the decoration objects in the world being given a flag that makes them invisible to specifically grenade hitchecks.
Until a system like above could be implemented, simply changing the grenade effect to be based entirely on a sphere of influence would suffice. Hell, they could have both temporarily, a smaller sphere that hits no matter LOS, and a larger one that only hits if the suspect is exposed
the way we throw flashbangs in ron is so frustating. But i understand that there nothing probably thats any better than simply having to lean to get a good throw while vulnerable.

The flashbang + stinger launchers don't have increased effect over the normal grenades, and becase if you're firing them at the floor/wall/roof AROUND suspects, without LOS to verify your shots, it's more likely you'll straight up miss because the radius is too small.
flashes and 9 bangs haven't let me down in a while, I don't recall ever needing/wanting to use the launchers...
MOST of the time, if you're throwing grenades properly, they will land more evenly towards the middle or intended area of a room, while with the launchers you can't do this without exposing yourself. Which in turn, creates a strange mechanic where players will just full-peek with the launcher and direct impact suspects, as that is the most effective way to play, and with the removal of the fatal 40mm impact, there is no downside.

We don't really have the mechanics to do proper grenade throws where only your arm/hand gets exposed, so I tend to do the kinda gamey alternative of just banking the nade off the door/doorframe.
The 40mm launchers are GREAT for cheesing suspect arrests. Just peek with it and then if the suspect won't surrender only off the 40mm, pull a taser while they're stunned

I remember having to do this fucky technique where I'd free-lean with the launcher and let go of the lean a split-second after firing to avoid getting caught in the blast, lol.

yeah I don't usually use it on purpose, usually when I breach a door and a suspect tries to bumrush me instantly, or its just faster to shoot with it out than to switch weapons. I also increased the damage once and it was surprisingly good as a non lethal. It has beanpag properties in the files iirc, just does like 1 damage by default

For the most part, the balance between the breaching tools seems to be in a fairly decent place to me.
It'd be nice if they at least slowed it down or something. Right now lockpick guns are basically a waste of a slot

breaching shotgun is kind of a wildcard depending on how cheesy you want to be with it. At its most realistic it's a loud, fast and somewhat destructive lockpick. At maximum cheese it's a ranged device that can delete wooden doors in two shots.

Okay AI pet peeve cos I'm working on my S rank Greased while we chat - When I tell a suspect to move to my position after getting them to surrender at a distance, do they really need to try to pull on me multiple times on the way over?
There's some hard-set timer where they'll get up, even if you're covering still
the hidden weapon thing feels super overtuned at the moment
It's not very apparent until you are ordering them to cross long distances
They just leave a little trail of contraband for you to go collect like easter eggs.
Hidden weapon mechanics are blatantly not functioning as intended because it never catches anyone off guard after the first few times.
It's just:
- suspects spawn with at least 2 weapons
- suspects will always fake, even if you're covering
like it's bad enough that so many suspects seem to try to pull a fast one on you, but it's extra annoying that they always have another gun on them and never go for their dropped gun.

It's probably not timer-based, IIRC the suspects (and civs too?) use a mostly utility-based system.

First run I didn't know about the bombs until I found the first one 25 mins in... that didn't go well. Last run I got both the bombs and was working through clearing the hospital and got absolutely John Wicked by a suspect with the AK who wiped my entire team lol

will do 🤝
You slowly clear the room within your FOV like slicing a pie basically
Swing from one side of the entry/doorway to the other, clearing the room as you move
So if you're at a corner fed room, pying allows you to open the door or peek and slowly check the inside of the room without fully breaching yet

hello, can someone help me, ive recently bought ready or not and it simply doesnt run well at all, no matter what i try low settings low res, everything maxed out dx11 or dx12 its all the same the game is simply unplayable, certain scenarios I can get a stable 60 but then instantly drops and just becomes unplayable

also DLSS and FSR may be causing fps to drop
AK's main draw is the ridiculously high damage. It's like 10 less than the SA-58 with tenfold controllability

I've noticed that with my 1070ti that FSR caused frame stutters sometimes where it dives from 35 to 12
What resolution? 4GB VRAM is a bit low
I struggled with a 3050 4GB because my VRAM was maxxed out at 1080

im playing it from a laptop that could cause me issues yes, but every other game ive tried even what i consider probably more demanding like pubg or apex legends runs perfectly fine on this system, and im sure my specs could be decent enough to meet the minimum specs required to run the game

it has wacky hit detections, cant do anything about it. but as long as it hits its a one shot arrest
Haven't done the clear but you could just flash with m320 or beanbag him, unless that somehow triggers the vest

might be worth trying to lower FPS maybe and lower basically all other graphics settings. I'm no performance nerd but try basically shutting off everything and test from there.

ive tried everything at this point, maybe just wait till its more optimised
- check your thermals
- close ALL background apps
- turn all settings to the absolute minimum
- whack DLSS on maximum performance
Work your way up from there
that's what I had to do with my laptop (i5-11, RTX3050 4GB, 16GB)
even then I was lucky to push 40
some maps are also just easier on the fps than others
one time i got a run without any bombers

I got it running now, 1080p instead of my native, dlss quality, everything medium except post process, anti aliasing and view distance it still only uses 50% of my gpu so if anyone else ever had any issues maybe just wait till optimisation is better with the game ?

Remember to make sure the tripwire set up at your front door is tight enough to where you can't crack open the door without setting it off
I think if you only write "AI" you'll find many, but the no crack one is the most common rn and it works well imo
"No Crack for AI is way too easy" is perfect for me
Well I can only blame myself, I bought a laptop recently for music and productivity stuff, went with something higher end in that realm never thought about gaming until I saw some Ron tiktoks and decided to buy it
I mean just stick with 11 in general, 12 is for the higher end GPUs

Yeah well at least with some help from here I've got it running at 60fps at the moment and current mission I'm on with the occasional little hiccup down to 50 or so fps hopefully it's gonna be okay now I was near ready to give up 🤣

ffr, if you get/build a PC, make sure the GPU has at least 8 gigabytes of VRAM. that's what I'm running at and its maxxed, but on high settings @ 1440p I'm still hitting >100FPS
not even just for this game though, lots of games now need heaps of VRAM

Oh yeah 12+ would be ideal but they tend to be a little pricier and as long as you are okay with reducing your graphics settings to med/high and enabling FSR when needed, 8GB will do fine for a few more years at least
then again, I've had to deal with 2GB until circa 2021 and then 4GB until the start of this month, so I might just be used to sacrifice :^)

download a Sniper or Not mod, which gives hidden weapons
do slugs beat armored suspects?
the only thing i dislike about sa-58 is magazine capacity
like RPD, M249, M24, G3 and many others
there's like 8 specific suspects in the whole game that can survive more than 1 slug shot
slug is gud 👍
but you might only need 2 or 3 hits to kill a suspect with it even when your running ap and they have no armor
