killing suspects will increase their stress to use LTL to arrest suspects on like thank you, come again to lower their stress
Real winning strategy is to ignore roster entirely and just go in with the blank defaults they give you when you don't assign someone

Skinwalkers and Wendigos are not the same thing. They have some similarities and serve a similar purpose far as cultural stories go, but fall to different tribes in different parts of the country. Skinwalkers are very much a southwest thing.

It's fine. Game like this doesn't need to have good writing to make for fun gameplay.
Personally I like the narrative, with some tuning but that's merely preference.
I think what they made has potential for a compelling narrative, but right now it mostly reads like edgy fan fiction from someone who's never taken a writing class.

Hi, can anyone let me know how the supporter edition works now? I bought the game on steam as well as the supporter edition a year or so ago and now that its been removed I cant find any trace of the cosmetics and such that was included.
Whatever they claimed to have fixed with the A.I seems to have introduced new bugs. Now the team doesn't understand what "stack up" means at Certain doors. They just stand there.
Gotta give orders twice now. Great hot fix. Very optimistic for the future.

The way Ground Branch does aiming is really neat right now. There's sort of a narrowing random area that zeros in over time.
It's when I've seen groups of human or AI SWAT get mowed down by a lone suspect that I really felt like something's off balance.

It's very rare for that kind of thing to happen if you're playing smart.

The route is SUPER important. Minimise peeking around boxes-the AI can aimbot you through boxes and you wont even see them. So understand how broken the AI is
The small loading dock thing at the start fucking sucks but the rest is a very easy clear
That wasn't my point, the point was that when alerted they react at least twice as fast as any human. So they really should have patched that. My approach is just to flash and gas everything which is frankly unrealistic and kind of boring.
My point is if you don't try to challenge a defending enemy head on in a fair fight with just your reflexes every time it's not that bad 😉

Enemy AI accuracy is fine. Enemy AI accuracy from 100 yards through walls and concealment needs to be nerfed

I cannot believe how long I slept on this thing. Stinger launcher rules I just started abusing it a couple of days ago.
With the exception of the wild wallhack accuracy, AI seems just stupid to me. If you catch a suspect from behind and scream at him, he doesn't seem to care, he just says "Nah, I'm not giving up", and continues walking straight, ignoring the fact that a SWAT guy is aiming at him from behind. He only reacts after some time when he finally randomly decides to turn around. The same goes for civilians. How stupid would they have to be to have five SWATs aiming and screaming at them, and yet they just run off to another room full of suspects? Also, I don't understand why they don't get on the floor when they are in the room with suspects, they just don't care.

I like things like them taking the phone to make some photos, but being at gunpoint of 5 SWAT members and deciding to run off while they scream at u to stay down is just wild. And for the part where they just stand still in room full of suspects is just weird

I do find it amazing the number of suspects who don't surrender when they are about to be blown away. A minor issue from a score perspective as I just beanbag everyone really, but I do agree its very, very strange.
Honestly I'm just not convinced that so many people would actually go for wallbangs in the first place. Like I understand professionals are trained on the difference between cover and mere concealment, but if so many people make the mistake of thinking they're protected by concealment, I would think a similar amount of people would make the mistake of assuming someone else is protected by concealment and not "waste" ammo firing at them.

I would like the SWAT guys to be more aware of what penetration they had. Namely they try and return fire and wallbang with a pepperball gun. I know S ranks are a small group of people, but its hilarious watching them try and return fire with a pepperball gun through cover
Yeah, I did a big writeup in the feedback forum about the AT SWAT's handling of LTL weapons and this was one of the points I made.
This. Trained people tend to care more about overpenetration problems.
So basically there's not a lot of overlap between people you'd expect to be accurate and people you'd expect to wallbang.
Swapping to the pistol when empty is my personal favourite though. Nothing beats that 😄 Number of times I have just taken my pistol out and killed my AI out of frustration is pretty high.

Honestly the easiest fix to the suspect wallbang issue that wouldn't require a huge rework of behavior, would just be to add an accuracy debuff when attacking without LOS.
Even if they're still technically tracking you, it could be enough that you're not getting winged by EVERY hit

If they were doing actual suppressing fire for tactical advantage, yeah. I don't think they're that smart because they don't do anything with it. Seems more like a happy accident in the coding.
Suppressing fire IS a programmed behavior. Whether the AI is using it properly all the time, or just firing at nothing for too long? I imagine that's a bit of a nightmare to program

I don't think suppressing fire actually consumes ammo. Considering that they are only alloted 3-5 mags post 1.0

They've had limited ammo for a while now, but pre-1.0 it was like 10 mags of primary + 10 mags of secondary
Also 1.0 BROKE the behavior where when out of primary ammunition, they would throw down the weapon and draw sidearms. Now they do nothing and stare at you with an unloaded gun

Having a druggie pull a sidearm, unload it and have nothing to reload with and then surrender would make for good gameplay options.

Honestly, it's just a shame that some of the more interesting suspect behaviors seem to be so rare. Like I've put way too many hours into the game and the sweeping majority of the time everyone just feels so samey. I was hoping you'd feel the difference in them between missions/factions more.

On S runs, I usually have Intimidator, Pacifier, Breacher, then an Armorer with full ceramic heavy armor and I'm solid. Anything that gets hit with a beanbag will comply immediately. Also thanks to the person that suggested that to me

in my experience they have a 50/50 shot of just surrendering after running out of primary ammo without any input from me

To be honest the way I game I do challenges early on because it forces me to learn.
I like that, Its like the moment you see the Bring order to chaos task complete, you instantly stop clenching your cheeks
Like I'm learning a lot in this playthrough that's gonna help me with other tactics later.
i like giving an ai teammate a shield and using a flash launcher or breach shotgun
ive found the game more engaging without the optiwand because you have to be more careful with how you aproach doors
Yeah not having a mirror wand on this run at all even for the trap maps has been wild.
i still tend to abide the rule of "when in doubt, flash"

Honestly, I peek for traps even if I have the mirrorgun. No sense taking chances on something that can kill you.

I've been finding that playing with the AI Overhaul mod and without using the Optiwand makes for a much more enjoyable experience, honestly

but on the other hand whatever it is won't put a bullet in your eye socket in 0.5 of a femtosecond
AI Overhaul is currently the only mod I'm running and I kinda plan to keep it that way unless I have a really good reason not to

thought that mission was more annoying than hard, hated walking around looking for bombs and civis
once I realized there was a 30 minute timer and I was full clearing the map in around 20 minutes I stopped trying to rush the bombs and it became so much easier

They should make it so suspects have a 50% more chance of surrendering if they have 1 laser/flashlight or more in their face (if its 3 its auto surrender unless they are programmed to be suicidal)

IMO, probably the best way to intentionally run multiple ammo types is having JHP in your primary to avoid overpenetration and AP in your secondary in case you want it, but really I tend to just go AP on everything because so many suspects are armored enough to justify it.

I've been killed by overpen from a player once and accidentally overpen'd a civvie myself once. Former incident was on 213 Park Homes when we had split the team to clear a couple of small rooms, and the latter was Brisa Cove, shooting at a suspect down the hallway only for some stray bullets to pass through the wall behind him into someone who was hiding in the bathroom.

Specifically with the shield, you can only interact with doors by peeking them while the shield is up, and the lockpick gun synergizes with this really nicely. If you try to peek a door and it's locked, you can look down to pick it which automatically uses the LP gun, click-click it goes, and it automatically returns to the shield when it finishes.

Normally the lockpick gun feels redundant because kicking or other breaching tools are more accessible, but it's like the only breaching tool that plays well with the shield.

Completely sidestepping any discussion about realism, I think it's just an underutilized part of the gameplay loop for players to come into view of a suspect and not be 100% certain what their next move is going to be. Having a conservative RoE and a continuum of force is much of what gives the game its character as a SWAT sim as opposed to a milsim.
they basically are usenleses, i was able to s tier multiple before final release and now can't. takes so many shots to make someone comply
I wish the AI was more impacted by being wounded, especially on the extremities, limping when hit in the legs, accuracy/trouble holding onto two handed weapons when wounded in the arms. And overall more considerate about ending a fight early to survive

Things like the uncertainty of whether a suspect will surrender or not or whether a civilian is really a civilian is what makes the game fresh.

I think the biggest hole they're dug in right now as far as the game's core design goes is the binary civilian/suspect dichotomy.
swat 4 has flaws but its overall a very enjoyable police simulator
