#Cannot get the game to work since yesterday.

Ever since last night, for some reason, I am experiencing crashes that give me the error "it appears you are missing files needed to run the game". However it's inconsistent. For context; I am able to log in to the game on any of my non-ren characters from the character selection screen, but as soon as a quick-character change to my ren, I DC after a few minutes. If I attempt to log in directly to ren from character selection, I crash and get the error. I have attempted this on both of my devices and am experiencing the same issue (I use windows 11 on a desktop and laptop).

I have tried both Nexon Launcher and Steam, I have verified my game files 10+ times on steam, repaired installation 10+ times on launcher. I have completely factory reset both of my devices twice. My internet connection is excellent and it is only maplestory giving me this problem. I've scoured google for fixes and tried almost everything I can find in relation to this and I'm not sure what I can even do at this point.

steps to reproduce:

  1. Launch Maplestory
  2. Log in to a Ren character from character selection (reg server Bera)
  3. Game crashes with "you appear to be missing files" error.

OR

  1. Launch Maplestory
  2. Log in to a non-ren character from character selection
  3. Quick character change to Ren
  4. Move around for 30seconds to 4min (longest i've managed to stay on the character)
  5. Game crashes with "you appear to be missing files" error.

NOTE SOMETIMES, I also cannot even log into a non-ren character from character selection, and the game simply crashes per usual, sometimes without even displaying an error message.

Not sure if it's relevant but I live in North America on the west coast. I have asked other players in various discords and nobody is experiencing this besides me from what i hear, outside of CW players saying the server has been unstable. Character name: Bairogs, server: bera

me too 🙁 after logging in on from my ren for a bit, it'll say "you appear to be missing files yada yada"

Holy, finally someone with the same issue T.T let me know if you find any kind of fix...so far its just inconsistent for me. If I fresh install / repair files, i can log onto other chars, but direct logins to ren cause the crash, and swapping to ren from a diff char lets me on but it never lasts more than 10min before the crash...

I logged a support ticket as well, no response yet but with how buggy the game has been for people im sure it may take a while to hear back.

i think i logged onto my main and then character swapped onto my ren!!

Ahh, yeah I've been doing that and have been managing to stay on for like, 5-10 min spans but once i start grinding I always crash. I did notice another player enter my map the moment i crashed last time, not sure if its related.

i also crashed when i was grinding!! or when the map was tapped at MTS7 🙁

I've lost so many exp coupons to this 🥲 if a community manager / mod sees this pls give me your input on potential fixes I am big sadge

I got this too, also crashed when I tele'd into MTS7. I tried several times after each crash logging back in straight to the character on different channels. It worked for me on Ch1 enough for me a teleport out.

Scania, using game launcher. If that still isn't working, I think the only sure fix is to have support move you to another map.

I am getting this issue too, instant crash when going into star shallowing sea 2, only way i can get out of the map is by re-logging into main character then switch character, then spam nearest town scroll. i am also using game launcher.

ITS NOT just ren characters, just took a mule to ch30 sss2 and instant crash

ODD ENOUGH i did notice hwen i was crashing, i didnt see the scania issue with ch 60 and ch 29 as ch 30, i saw all the channels correctly

My alliance is reporting crashes in the sellas maps now too. I took my main there out of curiosity and got stuck in sss5 for a bit, after like 3 game file repairs I was able to quickly get him out
