#(Just curious) How do the developers define the ratio of the in-game currencies
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
what do you mean by ratio ?
Sorry that my mother tongue is not English, I mean like 1USD to 0.6GBP
Exchange Rate
also yeah, both money and the prices are immovable because the ingame currency has no inflation; it's based on a manual balancing and has no real grounding in real life economies
the euro symbol is only there for familiarity
Well yeah I know they are fixed and immovable, but is there any references?
I googled and found that the GBP EUR JPY AUD CHF rate in game is at about the level of 2015 irl.
Yes, it was once fixed and that's that
The currencies change so fast, it's not worth it to change them all the time
Yes I know, I was just trying to add some more currencies by a mod, but wondering the references
You know, to make it IMMERSIVE
You mean as in where it's chanegd?
I didn't get your point. I think the exchange rate in game is referenced from about 2015 irl, so if I make a mod to add a new currency into the game, it should also follow the 2015 exchange rate to make it more immersive
And we didn't understand that, so now it makes sense 🙂
Honestly, I don't know. I guess one way would be to check all dev logs to see any mention of currencies, but that would be tedious
The other way would be to, as you did, try to find the most normalized value
Good idea, I'll check that
Maybe the depot history of steamdb.info could be useful too
Nah but that one seems too tedious to find something in there
Going by what is in steamdb, there seemed to have been no changes on that file since April 2021. Unfortunately there is no history data after that date
So it must be older than that
I found that someone made a mod about the currency, and the modder even tried to update it XD
Ok thank you everyone, I think this question is solved.
You can mark it as solved then 🙂
Hmm how should I mark that "solved"?
Also yes I remember someone talking about that in modding before
Isn't there a button for it?
Or a tag?
I didn't see that
oh nice find
Gee, I wonder why 😜 😂
