Hello I'm trying to make a custom map for me and my friends to play. We usually do empty plot, so i was trying to make a map that look nice with empty plots but every time i go to save it wants me to make a room to rent?

Can't make a custom map in the way you describe - you cannot purchase plots on a custom map at all. You can create a custom map with custom buildings and set them for rent only, and then when you play, you can choose these as places to rent (even in multiplayer) but never own.

if i understand correctly you could try saving your buildings as a blueprint, so you can clone it via the blueprints tab whenever

no not trying to make a blueprint Nail. But I think Samler answered the question. We play as you start as just a plot and build up and i was trying to make my own custom map that way but it only lets you save it if you have a building to rent but idk how the guys would feel about that.

Verified. Unfortunately, it is not possible to design a custom map and then have plots to buy in order to build/place buildings upon. Rentals only for custom maps.
(Trust me, my own spirit was broken by this as well, when I discovered it.... after spending several days on a custom map with a custom building designed to be purchased mid-game and placed in a pre-defined spot)
Sadly, The Octagon will never be possible to truly play on unless I want it to be a rental which is lame... I gave up and started over finding a good seed map and just playing on that. Custom could have been SO much better, so sad Kenneth is no longer taking suggestions.

I had no idea you could save a custom map as a blueprint. I've only ever been able to customize a building and save that as a blueprint, but never a map.

how would I set the price of that massive green plot on the custom map shown above, for example, where I have enough space for my "Octagon" office building and its parking lots?
Or does the game set the price to purchase that custom plot?
Cuz first I'd need to purchase the custom plot, then place the saved blueprints for the parking stairs/elevator and parking lots, and finally the blueprint for the "Octagon" office building itself.

Your answer did not contain a method or means to make the customized plots on a custom map purchasable in a playthrough on that map, such that a custom building blueprint could be slapped down and owned (read: not a rental), which was what we were discussing here.
