There are 2 blue guards that have small keys, both of them are in rooms with a chest in them. Probably missed one of those

I killed every guard I went through and one was mandatory to get past for a chest check

True, if it's open mode, your key could be in the secret room and you'd have to drop down the hole via gloves outside

There's one chest in the dark (I believe it's in the room pictured above) that's easy to miss as well

if you had to save zelda, its standard. if you could start from links house or sanc at the start, it's open

there is a grave to the right of sanctuary where you can drop down into the sewers

it is possible for the key to be back there on open mode
