I know that the SCS Convoy has caused the TruckersMP servers to suffer a huge drop in the number of players online, especially in American Truck Simulator, but here's a suggestion:

whenever there are events involving players in American Truck Simulator, don't use a dedicated server for the event, but use the US Simulation server.

Who knows, maybe one day we'll see the ATS server reach almost 1000 players online simultaneously.
I miss the pre-Convoy era, I remember at the launch of Cascadia, between December 2 and 5, 2020, that the server had more than 1600 people online (ATS US Simulation). I miss seeing this movement on ATS.

Dedicated Event Server need to be used to have rules changed just for this event. E.g. when it comes to block traffic by the Event Team or similar.

Its not because ats is overrated. That's just an excuse. Its because tmp is based in Europe and there are more ets2 players in Europe than ats players. It comes down to poor advertising and knowledge of tmp for US players.

Overrated would be saying C-D on sim 1.

it's kind of logical that the ATS truckersmp servers will always have fewer players than the ETS2 server, but there was a pre-Convoy TruckersMP and a post-Convoy one (even for ETS2)...

just look at the statistics on the https://map.truckersmp.com/ website and see what the truckersmp was like in the period before SCS's Convoy arrived...

If you look on steam, on a daily basis (counting weekends and weekdays) both games maintain a regularity of online players, always maintaining a significant increase on weekends (something around 30-40k ETS2 players on steam and 5-9.5k ATS players on steam)

A single pre-Convoy ETS2 server had almost 5,000 players, with all servers totaling almost 12,000 players online simultaneously (on ATS it was close to 1,000 in only one server).

Post-convoy (July 2021) the truckersmp servers had significant drops, totaling 5,000 players on ALL servers (ATS oscilated around 180-200)

Anyway, the numbers are on the truckersmp website itself...
I just wish there was a more in-depth analysis of this, because if we stay the way we are, it's possible that one day they'll officially close some servers, and I think ATS will be involved in this

They could study the possibility of 'activating' some free mods from the steam workshop that are successful, to see if they attract more players to the truckersmp servers again...

Something that would be a solution to the use of mods on the official truckersmp servers is if truckersmp itself had an account on steam to upload 'famous' mods where the owners would give truckersmp the rights to update the versions according to the game's updates. ... then truckersmp's own steam workshop account would update the mods that were allowed to be used on its official servers... maybe this idea is an action that could put the sparkle back in the eyes of those who abandoned truckersmp because of the mods allowed on SCS Convoy...

and when I say 'a few mods', I don't mean heavy mods or anything that will make players' weaker computers crash or break saves, but simple mods that add more immersion to the game, perhaps wheel mods, like Smarty's which are very famous, Kriechbaum's sounds for ATS and ETS2... in short... nothing too heavy, just things that would make a difference and many players would return to play on the truckersmp servers again...

All depends on the time zone everyone is in. It started a 6pm last night for me. I was unable to attend due to needing to be a driver IRL. As for the server opening it is usually within an hour prior to the event start. Some if 30min before, others is an hour before it start.

Hey, welcome to the server!

Technically yes, as long as you are not in a highly populated area: Kirkenes Quarry (ProMods map), the Duisburg to Calais road, and the cities of Calais and Duisburg.

I always recommend Simulation 2 for convoys, it's much quieter, and it won’t hinder anyone else, nor will anyone else generally hinder you.

Always keep Rule 2.6 Inappropriate Convoy Management / Car Abuse in mind for that.

And just so you know, this channel is for discussion about TruckersMP official events, not general questions 🙂

My sense of scale and speed was all kinds of thrown off cause I used a head tracker instead of VR. I haven't driven in Pancake mode in over two years. lol

But it was so worth it. That was fun!

In case it was not on purpose - you can use "-experimental_vr" steam run setting and not beta version to play in TMP in VR. And yes - was very cool convoy, thx all! Very chill and also the rout was taken was epic!

I only didn't use VR so I could get instructions in text. But, now that I know what a convoy is like, I may just go ahead and do the next one in VR. The only time I really 'needed' the text was to know when to leave, and all I actually had to do was start moving when other people did, so, I could have gone in VR like I like.
