Northern maps have lots of small twisty hilly roads, ones like West Balkans, Iberia and Italy have small tight routes around cities. They are mostly fit their regions natural environments. Each one has had extra things added over the years as they develop that are now starting to updated into others, hopefully at some point all the additions will be added into the base game for northern France and the UK to make them up to date with most of the latest DLC packs.

Then after that there is the addition of Promods that becomes available once you have all the DLC they require that has environmental hazards like ice, loose gravel, river fording over rocks, basically things that will help to speed up the damage to your vehicle even when driving carefully.

I never seen FiveM so can't really say. TruckersMP made multiplayer for ETS2/ATS waaay before SCS added convoy mode in the game. The difference is quite big, Convoy mode is about private lobbies while TruckersMP is actual MMO experience.
