If you like more up-to-date assets and highways, go for Iberia or West Balkans. If you don't mind the slightly older assets but rather pretty scenery, go for any of the map DLCs before Iberia, e.g Road to the Black Sea, Beyond the Baltic Sea, Italia, Vive la France, or Scandinavia

Everyone self appears in the tab menu leaderboard regardless of distance between players and it depends where you were at the time, Because some areas have either 100+ players or even more could be the reason also. Could be wrong or they can type in your name in to search you up manually
