they have incredible braking distances for the weight ratio. engines are getting greener and greener. auto lane detection. auto braking to stop crashing. emergency detection to avoid crashing.

most accidents in trucks are either due to driver error or external factors. such as idiot car drivers cutting them up. or swift drivers not understanding width and height of their truck and trailer and misjudging bridge heights XD

(hopefully any swift drivers understand the memes behind swift trucks and dont take any offense as none was intended) 🙂

longer trucks are only allowed to be driven by more skilled drivers with additional certificates. those types of trucks are also only allowed on certain approved roads. some of those roads also have time restrictions to avoid busy times.

it is in everyones best interest for trucks to be as safe as possible because they are so vital to countries infrastructure

thats why stuff like road trains exist in places like australia with huge open roads for thousands of miles. but in places like the uk they are very very limited on trailer lengths due to the road widths
