@torpid saddle all ive retained was the base but had to upscale everything else to be higher poly and retextured using different n-mappings (because i dont have the originals anyway).

I have a question, is it possible to use different interior on trucks? Like for example w900 interior on 389. Is it possible with save editing?
Yes it is

The thing you have to be careful about is not every interior will fit in every truck. Trucks have a special locator known as "ext_interior" on their models. That locator determines where the exterior pmd of the interior goes when looking at the outside of the truck. So there's a very high possibility that the interiors won't fit, and you can have interior pieces sticking out of all sides.

with local modding you can add accessories onto your truck, but not entirely new trucks

it won't work
because TMP does not load mods like normal
and if the datapath for the chassis doesn't correctly point towards the .sii file (which it won't, because the mod wouldn't load), then the game will crash

Only thing left is shadows which I don't know how to do so they wont fixed. Also fiddling with the 5th wheel. The chassis is too long for it to be cantered on the middle axle. Works fine though as it is!
Definitely liking the triple rear axle. All I've got is the long chassis daycab. I like mine so far, at least.

I just learned how to save edit in the last few hours, so I'll be honest your mod was what inspired me for this one.
Really wishing I could use an RV back or something on my truck or somehow make a wrecker for convoy.
Welcome to save editing! I started out in exactly the same place. Saw someone on TMP with some save edited stuff and wanted it too. I've steadily been learning from there over the last couple of years.
It is possible to do local modding for TMP. Mods that you can see but no one else can. I haven't gotten into those as my skills aren't that good. I just take existing game assets and fiddle with them, like slapping an extra axle on the back of the 6x4.
I wish there was more interest in people making local mods for ats...
once the Cascadia is out ill probably make a ton for that
It's kinda easy in the sense that it isn't. Half of it is understanding your hookup slots for positioning in your 3d software and the other half is formatting the game. But it still comes at the price of having to disable and re-enable them everytime there's a major update or else your game won't load at all. I just finished some local mod drybulks the other day.
have you tried putting the mods into the bus_job_log?
when I use that with ETS2, I never have to disable / remove them then add them back after each update

Yup, I use bus_job_log in both games and never had any issues.
i guess ATS local modding is generally a bit harder to learn considering you don't exactly have normal slots ||if i remember correctly|| to attach the things onto

you can't really do much in ats sadly... for example there is not slot or flare in cabin to make interior for example or any interior accessories

Shadows are easy. Just copy the mesh you want to add a shadow to and make the shader preset for that mesh shadow only and boom

It's a very simple and easy process. AO baking is a different story. The tool I use is textools

A couple more tests and this mod will be done! Finally worked out how to do baking and shadows properly. A big thank you to @deft plinth and @chrome peak for putting up with my questioning and help. It's nice to finally finish a mod properly.

It's a true tri drive. 8x6. That 3rd axle is powered and thus wouldn't work in TMP.

the reason why they wont is because it just keeps everything neutral. better to support no mods at all instead of trying to support a few and then having thousands of entitled bratty players complaining that they wont support the mod they specifically like and it be a never ending thing. the reason why they can do the weather mods is because they dont modify buildings or vehicles, just changes out which terrain texture is loaded for the desired season effect. trucks and trailers are an entirely different story, especially when they arent made by someone on the TMP team. so then youre just gonna have those same aforementioned whiney players constantly heckling this completely unaffiliated person to update their stuff so it can be used on TMP. as if that already doesnt happen enough with the people who complain TMP isnt updated .3 seconds after a new patch comes in.

Hello guys, I'm new in this type of modding, so i was wondering which mods work on TMP? I want to improve my graphics do you have any suggestions?
there are no mods compatible with TMP. mods that you find that are labeled "TMP compatible" arent actually mods so to speak because they do not use custom assets. they are simply save edits put into mod format so players who do not possess the skills/knowledge of save editing can still achieve the same desired results. local modding with addon hookup storage (what i do) is a completely different thing.
In theory, a mod stands for modification, so the point of a mod is to modify something from the base game... So save edit mods are still mods, even though they don't really add new content to the game, but they modify certain things, like for example adding new trailer entries in the trailer dealer that aren't in the game normally, or unlocking certain restricted trailers.
As for graphics, you can't use mods on MP, but you can use shaders which doesn't change the textures, but more like the lighting/ambiance in general

Yeah it's definitely a local mod if it isn't sp use only cuz the kw doesn't have an f_grill node to attach a bullbar. Speaking of which it annoys the piss outta me you can't put an oversized banner over the 389's bullbar

yeah
if something you do in your game.sii document crashes/breaks the game, you can just ctrl+z to undo then save the document, which can return the document to a point where it worked

anyone here know how to take a truck file and open with zmodeler to then put it in another game?
I suppose I do a bit since you could import a truck into blender, and export as the standard format for transferring between 3D modelling programs, then import into zmodeler
although i've never used zmodeler nor the exchange standard
zmodeler is garbage, use blender
dont know why people would pay a subscription fee for that program when blender is free and there a literally a thousand tutorials on how to use it.
In that case. Use blender for ats/ets2 zmod for these games is just the worst.

you definitely need SCS Blender tools to import stuff (it'll crash otherwise), ConverterPIX Wrapper just makes it easier to import stuff with archives (.scs, .zip)

I haven't checked the new trucks nor looked at the game files, so if it's a separate accessory on the cab roof, then you can save edit it onto trucks that has the same type of accessories (eg: r_horn can go on any trucks that has r_horn accessory), although if it's part of the truck sounds, yeah I do believe it's stuck with the engine

Different question. As proven in ETS2, the extended trailer for the Special Transport is legal due to it being in the base game.
I've done some digging, and the extended trailer for ATS's special transport is ALSO in the base game
and I needed to show and talk to a Mod to get a ruling on it.
If I was to do a Truck Transporter Load t like you sometimes do (ex; Truck + Trailer) if I was to do a Lowboy for the trailer would I need to remove Paint Line or no?
the special transport trailers i think are not allowed but the base game ATS trailers are now
I did a test, and the auto-kick did not trigger. I obviously do not want to get banned so I won't be running it without a mod's permission. Hence why I want to talk to a Mod

I think you can use any parts/combination that is from owned trailers, like in ETS2, you can extend the low loader, and seen some people put it at the back of their double trailer combo

They're actually supposed to be on the left nvm... Guess the handle is part of long chassis
when you save edit the cascadias beacons on other trucks it just looks 1000x better than the originals because this is just so much more prototypical. scs shouldve just did this from the start instead of haphazardly plopping them on the roofs of trucks.

Custom skins are really difficult because you would need to make them into a local addon hookup.

you can put tool boxes on dry van trailers with save edit @mystic pawn
^ just to note you can only do so on the front portion of the trailer where you install the skirts. Dry vans don't have the spread axle accessory node so you can't put boxes between a spread.

Would there be like a concrete block or something on the neck of the trailer for traction on the drive axles or would enough of the trailer weight be going onto that drawbar? Chonky trailer, would look good with a Tri drive.

What exactly causes that "TYPE" category in the "My Trailer" menu? Changing the definition doesnt seem to do it. I have some trailers listing as something it's not and others as NA.

with save editing
You can switch interiors with save editing. However not all interiors will fit with all trucks. Every interior has an exterior model so you can see that interior from the outside of the truck in lower detail. If the interior of the truck does not match the profile of the truck you're swapping into, then you're just gonna have pieces of interior sticking out of your truck in various locations. The only interior swap I know of that works without any kind of issue are the t680/579. And that's literally because both trucks have an almost identical sleeper profile.

@tranquil wren easiest way to do this would be to find a truck with an 8x4 chassis and edit the cabin onto it from the 389 #general message
You're essentially making a hybrid truck.
As you're starting out, I'd buy both, quicksave, decrypt and find both trucks, then find the cabin on the 8x4 chassis and replace it with the cabin from the 389, also replacing the interior and the mirrors (mirrors are optional, they may be necessary depending on how well the original ones work). Then, save the game.sii file and reload the quicksave. It should then work.
There aren't any 8x4 chassis for ATS in the stock game so you can't get one for TMP.
yeah. the only way you can do that is by local modding but the tag will always be static as its not an actual chassis
no. SCS normally only adds hookup points to stuff that actually uses it
But go ahead and try it anyway so you'll see what happens
By default it's gonna use the model origin. So if you try to hook a trailer to something that doesn't have a node it's just gonna glitch out in the middle

The thing about the tesla mod was it was a very bad mod and needed a LOT of work to be a functioning truck. Not just simple error fixes, im talking about deep fixes. Since that mod was originally released we got dx 11 and new animations. The average modder has no knowledge of that so therefore the bigger known modders wont touch the truck to fix it as its not worth it. I even tried to make a fix and decided it wasnt worth it for the type of truck it is.

Then we have the window animations and making the truck compatible with dx11 which isnt too hard. No promises though. I hate working on trucks lol

the big reason why i stopped working on trucks was scs keeps bringing out updates that improve them but then they bring more headache with needing to learn how to work with them. I got the kenworth t660 working then dx11 came out and broke everything, that is the point i stopped fixing truck mods. But i am currently looking at the tesla in blender and seeing how bad it truly is lol

Most air compressors are gear driven so it works the same was as a normal air brake system
So it's just electrically powered? Cause in my head, you'd need to give a little rev to fill faster lol
yeah, reving a diesel would turn the gear for the air compressor faster
so there would be some way to "rev" the electric motor or maybe you'd just have a small electric motor entirely just for the air compressor

its a pretty easy fix, just need three different uv unwraps
one for the skinnable uv map, one for one side of the truck and one for basically all parts of the painted part

its not a simple task. For one you have to have it as a slot hookup. So you would have to use blender to take something you want, put it in blender, import the scs truck you want to hook it to and make it a slot hookup. Ets is very popular with local modding but i dont really know anyone who much for ats. I made all mine myself and it takes alot of time and knowledge to do. Plus save editing to add it to the game

As far as I know - yes, this is a violation of the rules. At the same time, the user was not kicked, which violates rule 5.1, which means that the user will be banned for bypassing the kick (permanent, according to rule 2.1)

what i thought i was also told dolly do count as a trailer
its not a kick bypass. for whatever reason a while back tmp devs accidentally disabled the parameter that kicks you for having too many trailers when they did an update. however its still a bannable offense because it counts as bug abuse. the rules clearly state that (for ATS) the max number of trailers you can have is 5. and by specifically save editing 6, you are 100% deliberately violating the rules. that user will have no defense once administrative action is taken. they cant say they "didnt know" because its user responsibility to re-read the rule changes every time theres a service update. these are the people i have 0 sympathy for when they get banned. and theyre the EXACT people to go off saying "TmP mOdS tRaSh" "BaNnEd FoR nO rEaSoN" "AbUsE oF pOwEr" which just makes you roll your eyes into the back of your skull.

volvo has an american market for trucks. you cannot buy an EU volvo in america and you cannot buy an american volvo in the EU. scania does not have an american truck market at all. scania has an american market for marine parts.
the reason why i say its not gonna happen is because scania has 0 interest in an american truck market.
I didn't actually see any of those when I was in Mt Isa but the road train signs on the road did show it. Sucks I never saw one. The 2AB Quad is still the most common as it doesn't require as many special permits. They've also started using Super Quads (4 semi trailers with a special dolly) with 5 axle 750hp Volvo's. Those are beasties.

Mods from sites aren't always trustworthy. Most are leaked/stolen. Others are terrible edits made by people who don't have a fundamental structure of how the game works so the mods are buggy or broken. Others are just terribly outdated. I only trust mods from those sites if it's posted by a reputable user like jazzycat.
Lots of stolen mods are on those site and distributed by very toxic people. That's why I say avoid mod sites
Also another really bad thing about mod site trucks is if you open the console there are literally hundreds of errors

simply put, no as far as I understand. You can record your gameplay with something like Medal.tv or AMD RePlay, but it will only be what your screen is showing - there's no inbuilt cinematic maker.

It's quite complicated to setup in the first place, it's not an automated process to have these cinematic views like on those video trailers, but most of the time they set the camera path they want, then record it with AI traffic on, and if there's their own trucks, they wouldn't be moving, well they could but it'd be difficult, depending on the angle of camera
Yeah, there are loads of games with this sort of functionality, though - for example BeamNG and GTAV
Thereβs mods to accomplish it in Minecraft too which is rather impressive

you may experience ads when downloading, but this is reasonably standard for freeware.

you need a exe called sii decrypt. Just drag and drop the game.sii file on the exe and it will decrypt it so you can edit it in notepad++

if you don't do anything but drive HCTs then you wouldn't ever want to use format 2, but otherwise it's fine
the small freeze when format 2 makes a save can cause HCTs to freak out, which TMP thinks is worth a permanent ban in some cases

When using the winter mod try to keep your speed down and brake CAREFULLY if you brake too hard and suddenly then you can slip around

Does anyone have any good ATS mods that are useful?

3d modeling is like running into a brick wall at full speed 5 times in a row and that's why I love 3d modeling
Iβve only ever done 3D modelling once - and that was back in high school when we had to create a container which was capable of storing a single Pringle chip to be sent in the post. That was enough to convince me never to do it again.

yeah. youll find a lot of stuff on how to make different shapes and use modifiers but there arent any tutorials specifically for scs blender tools when using the latest version of blender. most scs blender videos ive seen that teach you mod structure and how to format parts/materials are all on blender 2.79 or previous versions since theyre just old. and the scs forums are no help because their tutorial literally hasnt been updated since like 2017. but its really better to just learn as you go and move up the complexity scale when you fully understand the basis of what youre working in.

okay so here's the deal, i'm looking for a combination of 4 b-trailers and one normal trailer to form a road train (since in normal roadtrains dolly's count as trailers)
can anyone help me out here, i haven't been able to find one and i'm definitely not skilled enough (yet) to make one myself
or a combination made out of 3 normal sized trailers and 2 dolly's
(cuz 5 is the max yk)
or is there any way to file edit this into my game?
If you're using ownable trailers they are very easy to make through save editing. I'll give you a hand if you'd like.

for ats, the realistic graphics mod by Frkn64 and sisl's mega pack are good
just search through the "Most Subscribed" section on the ATS steam workshop to find loads of (usually) high quality mods
