Anyone else got this installed without their consent, I've read a little about it and it's related to MSI or Realtek and I'm not sure if I loose anything by removing it, but having it installed without my consent is a little concerning.
got msi mobo and realtek drivers and I don't have that
oh I do have the service, just not any app for it
signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher
so probably installed by Windows for hardware compatibility
It's supposedly installed in version 2004
Nub setup
I’m incredibly jealous of you right now..
Jeeeez
I'm jealous of me too. i can't use it.
it's in my apartment abroad.
Then there’s mine.. nothing cool about it
But at least you own some of the best parts etc
My setup actually isn't that bad
Is just that, spiders
What specs, London and Cupra?
It’s the pc on the floor that’s killing it for me Zir
cba to write it out again. so here it is.
Amd R3 3200g
16gb ram
Rx580 8gb
DS3H mobo
128gb ssd/ 2tb hdd + 3tb external hdd
ayayay
Everything in my case needs to be upgraded basically..
What do you run???
Minecraft and MS paint
2080ti*
nah, MSFS is probably the biggest hog game rn
Then there’s me.. rendering things on a 3200g
Safe to say, my rig gets its use
Same here
Only problem is, is that my rgb has decided to leave for all eternity
Why?
I honestly don’t know
Did the fans just.. you know.
I have a button for my RGB
On top of my PC
No fancy remotes, no fancy softwares
Thermaltake Commander C33
Same here but it does nothing for me now
I also need to replace a fan because it’s barely pulling air
Luckily I have a fan spare
I also have some blue rgb fans that I might make use of
Do I use like, WD40?
No
A soft cloth
Like the cpu
Oh yea, and I suggest unplugging all of the fans because if you use the compressed air it could send the current the wrong way
I have a thermal take case as well
That's quite an interesting concept
I can see how that could be useful, however I'm sure there's a way to achieve that with software.
My old PC that i now use as a homeserver doesn't boot without a display plugged in. I think that's exactly the kind of thing this is used for
Or some people that only use VR with no display screen at all
I'm surprised to hear that a pc doesn't like running headless, sometimes it's just a bios setting.
It might not work headless if you don't have any graphics, even integrated
Pretty much all modern PC can work headless
idk if there's a BIOS setting for that. It's a i5-4440 with no dedicated GPU so not that modern 😂
You have no luck without any graphical solution
it doesn't really bother me anyway. it's sitting below my desk so should I have to boot it I just plug my monitor in
normally I should have no reason to boot it unless it crashed 😂
there's a good reason Nvidia's GT 710 is still a top seller on Amazon
cheap way to get graphics to an older PC that doesn't have any that's still in great supply
the other main use for those type of cards is to enable office computers to use multiple displays
My phone is dying
🇫
discord on the phone succ battery
True
i have the same "problem"
It's going up
nice
nice
Anyone here have a keyboard with tactile switches? Are they good?
It depends on your keyboard history
If you want to have a good tactile feedback without much mechanical noise, then tactile switches will suit you.
Is it possibly to somehow "ruin" your RAM?
Just a few days ago I was able to run two Giants Editor windows open (modding program for FS19), FS19, Chrome and Discord at the same time. By accident I opened Photoshop and it obviously exceeded the RAM limit (?) on my PC, causing everything to go black. After that my PC hasn't been able to run as much at the same time anymore, and I'm curious about what caused that
grubby you can do a memory test to see if there are any bad sectors
Where do I do that?
it's a windows program but do a search for memory test
you won't be able to use the pc while its running
did you find it grubby?
click on windows memory diagnostic
Yeah, just tried it out. Didn't have any errors
it should have just used virtual memory, but maybe it couldn't transfer from physical memory to virtual memory fast enough

🇫
s20 ?
yes
Big fan of this pic and somebody who did it

Steve, is that you? 😄
Fun.. router upgrades
i thought that was a slice of toast on that cooler for one minute 🤣
i’m glad you said it
🤣 ** it really looks like a slice of brown toast **
this toast?
lol
You can see very well that it is a toaster
Blackwidow Elite?
?

it's under a cooler anyway, so why bother
Black Heart 🙂

I'm seeking why my laptop charger turn off when I'm playing ETS2
It happen only with ETS2/ATS
Temps?
Sounds like It's pulling more juice than the charger can provide
I play Forza, Minecraft with 300mods and shaders...
And I do not have a little charger
Do you know what the power setting is set to when plugged in?
Maximum perfomances
So it's the max possible.
Also I can stream F1 2019 without this issue
How do you know the charger stops working when you are playing ets2?
I am kinda left out with my question
What are the temps?
I don't check them
What I don't understand is the fact that I play bigger games. Better graphism and any issue
Those other games might be optimized better than ets2/ats
Maybe the game engine
Anyway, I'll setup back my arduinos with LCD screen to show up t°C
Never well worked

I use nzxt cam for my temps
Open Hardware Monitor will do the trick too
My Laptop Control Center will do the job, forget about it
i wish ets2 gets a better engine for better performance
They wont
Prism3d was made by them
im playing on a 2k pc and dont get 144 fps on 1440p so
Yes
As like you should
laughs in 144hz@1440p on ETS2 with a sub-1500€ 3 years old pc
fps largely depends on your settings
laughs in 13 year old CPU and 7 year old GPU
and busy places in MP tank the framerate no matter what kind of PC you have
I had 3 FPS in Calais but I left without a crash or anything
you really think I'd go for a high framerate setting on ETS2 ?
Well having a high refresh rate monitor is pointless unless you use settings allowing for a high framerate...
going for a high refresh rate is pointless if you can have the game look better and still being smooth, unless you're some sort of competitive player
but there isn't any esport tournaments on ETS2
anyone else watch 4k videos on a 1080p monitor
Me
Sometimes me, if my internet can handle them
the main advantage in doing this is the higher bitrate, so the content will actually look better

you have a lot of space not what I do
the 2tb toshiba is just games
I have a hdd drive on the usb interface (he is E drive)
i didnt know that windows use picutes now to see what drive is it
i think you can set your own images on them
🤷♂️ I plugged it in and it was already set
Does anyone here have an iphone 11 ?
I'm wondering how big is the gap between the display and body
Cuz i know there is a bigger gap than on a 11 pro for example bcuz the 11 has an LCD
I have one, there is a bigger gap but once you have a case on it, it’s really not noticeable
https://youtu.be/ReuDIYYk3fk so turns out these might actually be worth it

Thing is I don't run cases haha
I wanna switch from a samsung s10+ which has a 89% screen to body ratio while the iphone 11 has 79%. Pretty sure it's gonna drive me insane
And the 11 pro has been discontinued 🙄
Will i tho
Depends on what you need
for what purpose?
do you need the space but dont need speed or do you need speed but not the space?
Like Applications like Servers profits from more speed
What do you want to do?
Then use the faster RAM obviously
well... depends on the games you want to play too
8GB with 2133MHz
some games have 16 as minimum system req
indeed
but its useless if it just have 1600MHz
well, use 16GB with at least 2133
depends on the mainboard you couldtry to overclock it a bit.

2x 8GB with 2133MHz are better as 1x 16GB
the most have at least two banks for RAMs
today
I dont understand it though
well, then 😄
replace the first one with the other ones
the amount of sticks equal to the amount of channels the CPU supports is generally best, and most consumer CPUs are 2 channels
more important than high mhz on the sticks
can agree to that
well, you already have two banks for RAM... so why a new motherboard?
yea
yeah?
dual channel just means 2 sticks
For a dual channel you need two ram sticks and two ram banks on the MB
quad channel is 4 sticks
and as you already have two, replace the first ram with the new one and the other empty one is the other ram stick placed
and the leftover RAM you could try to sell or keep it, for security reasons 😄
yeah, so you always have reserve ^^
I also have 1x 4GB of DDR4-2133MHz RAM here ^^

yea
make sure when you buy them you get them in a pair
depends on how much you want to spend
right now, pretty hard
i doubt you'll find any new ones
*at a reasonable price
yeah that's way above what it's worth
it'd probably be around 600$
600-800 isn't it?
it launched at 800 but it's last gen now
nvidia doesn't even make the 2080 series anymore
3060 Ti is 400$ and gets better frames in some games
no one knows
don't think nvidia has ever said.. all they confirmed is that they sold poorly compared to the previous generation
can anyone help me figure out what ram i actually have without having to take my laptop apart
Search by a part number
the part number comes back to ramaxel 4gb ram but it says i have 8gb with 1 space used so surely thats not right?
it's dual channel so you have 2 sets
the other 4GB may be soldered onto the laptop motherboard
so should i just ignore how it says i have a free space as per how it sAys on the top of the screen?
hard to say without looking inside the case
i’ll take a look inside another day
Hey there, my NVIDIA Ctrl Panel is only picking up my TV, which is running on the GPU, I feel dumb, but how can I change my laptop screen to not run on the CPU, but run on the GPU.
Ok now I at least changed my main monitor, but I still can't access it on NVIDIA Cntrl

Okay so got a question for the wonderful tech community...
I've got a Kingston Micro SD card of 128 GB, which I use for my dash camera. I also use a SD card reader for easier access of the videos from my PC, but I have a bad tendency to delete the files directly from the card...
So, why the heck is the deleted files automatically overwritten by other files already on the card? Like it would just move whatever it can on top of the deleted files, for whatever reason...
deleted files automatically overwritten by other files already on the card
What?
How can the deleted files be overwritten?
I wish to know why, it just did, I never did any other operations other than deleting the files, which prompts me if I want to "permanently" delete the files... Yet they are overwritten by more recent files already on the card, just why...
Like... why waste writing operation immediately after deleting a file, for something that is already existing on the card, like why bother moving it onto the "sectors" of the SD card that had a file freshly deleted
Anyways, that gotta be the weirdest thing I've seen to be honest... There was one video I wanted to recover due that it contained a small detail I overlooked and remembered about after I deleted it -.-
Dashcams continually overwrite the oldest footage.
Generally, you can recover deleted files as long as they haven't been overwritten, however it looks to me that you won't be able to.
You don't understand me, at all... The card was on my USB reader, not on my dashcam, and it was plugged on my PC, and all I did was press the delete button on specific files, and when I scanned with Recuva, it showed that there was videos, which was already there, that was overwriting the ones that I manually deleted, my dashcam had nothing to do with it, but I don't know if it's just like a Windows thing to erase the files for good on these cards or what...
When in general, the files should still be there if nothing else had been writing on top of it, which could happen if you move files onto the card, which was not my case...
Well, "deleting" is not actually what it seems to be
Usually, "deleting" means "forget where the file is", that's why you can see some leftovers via Recuva or any other recovery software.
Yeah I know it's supposed to delete the reference to it, like when you format something, you're using some of the space to lay out all the "clusters" or bits of space, but yeah it's just weird that as soon as that I manually deleted the files, they were all with chunks of other files that was already existing on the card, like it wanted to rearrange it, a bit like the point of defrag
There was no new files being added, just files on there being moved on top of the deleted ones

I'm just as surprised and confused as you xd I remember recovering a few files, but most of time I'm out of luck since I waited too long, which is normal
But that was on my hard drive
Zeroing out all the space three time should help
That's why quick format is so quick because all it does is delete the references to the data, not overwrite the sectors.
Anyways, it's not a huge deal, the actual clip I was looking for could've led to more troubles than any good, but it's irrelevant to this channel
Depends on an actual stick, stock is recommended.
You won't notice any big difference in day-to-day usage for sure.
No Overclocking and changes in the Timings
Like how you got it delivered
Those are the Timings
and even if you buy 2866MHz Ram, they mostly will be delivered with stock 2133MHz, they just can go up to that speed (and sometimes even more)
and with the timings, the lower the better so far
There are no "recommended" specs for RAM.
It heavily depends on an actual stick, as I said earlier
And again, as I said earlier, you won't see any benefit out of overclock.
Yeah
but mostly you don't have a benefit in overclocking
I had to as I had big lagspikes... from 2133 to 2866 and everything was fine again
There are stock, (probably) XMP profiles pre-configured at the factory, and you can change them on some mobos.
but that is always different to other sticks
yeaahhh no
mostly, yes
well, Overclocking is mostly NOT needed
but sometimes you have to (like me) because you have lagspikes. or you just want to be "cool" that you have 3900MHz on ur ram sticks (and some ppl think srsly they are cool with that lol)
Very high frequency sticks won't be very useful, unless you're chasing after some benchmarks world records
But you definitely shouldn't pick a cheap 2133MHz stick
I'd say a good compromise is 3200MHz CL16
They're not too expensive, but it won't limit your cpu performances
Or 3600MHz if you want optimal performances for an AMD cpu
For intel, you will be limited at 2666MHz or 2933MHz if you don't have a Z-series motherboard chipset
And a Z-series chipset is totally useless if you don't have a K-series cpu
Also, you should never run a single ram stick, because there is a big performance gap between running single channel and dual channel @jade dust
Watt, not wat
CJ 😂
Just leave it as is
Conversely, RAM speed is quite important on Ryzen CPUs 🙃
I overclocked mine from 2400Mhz to 3200Mhz using the Ryzen DRAM Calculator
I did the same 😄 but my ram is quite instable with 3000MHz.... so 2866 are working fine and I have no issue
I just have stock XMP Profile on DDR4-2400 CL15-15-15 @1.2V
I can technically overclock it up to 3333 Mhz
Anyone had any experience with hypertec ram?
also is there anyway i can tell for sure what the maximum ram i can install in my laptop is? I did a scan on crucial and they say i can put 20GB max in, but i checked kingston memory and they say i can have a max of 12GB
Say that to Ryzen 5000
what notebook/pc do you have?
What's the specs - CPU, RAM, MOBO?
36 GB of RAM max
false
in theory you can have 32 GB of RAM (8GB x4)
https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/124967/intel-core-i5-8250u-processor-6m-cache-up-to-3-40-ghz.html
Intel® Core™ i5-8250U Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz) quick reference guide including specifications, features, pricing, compatibility, design documentation, ordering codes, spec codes and more.
Close enough
i doubt ill need 32gb lol
BUT!!!
Lenovo solders RAM on the MOBO, usually they solder 4 GB
And leave you with one dimm slot
Which would add up to 20 GB (if you use a 16 GB SODIMM)
Yh i have a 4Gb non removable ram on there according to the crucial scan
and then a 4gb stick added on to give me the 8gb
yeah, you need to replace that 4 GB stick with what ever you need (either 8 or 16 GB)
is it true that i have an m.2 space? bc its rumoured that i do but i havent had time to take the case off and check
yes, you should have an m.2 slot on your mobo
no, you would be able to have both, a normal hdd and additionally a ssd
Found my old gamecube
dang

Amd is better imo. Their Firepro series is massively underrated compared to Quadro and on average, they offer better value, particularly on the used market.
I mean, I have RTX 2070 Super, great value for a great price, but man, that situation is broken
How do you even
that's fake news
500 000 cards at 1 kg per card/box would mean 500 tons
A regular 40/45 ft container can't fit more than 60 tons

Fake news is pretty irritating, but I've just come to expect it if I'm not reading a known source.
not sure if any of you are able to help with an audio issue im having by any chance?
What would the issue be?
well when im in discord and i load up tmp my audio goes along with my mic and i reset everything and it still doesnt work
Have you tried changing your TMP sound settings?
i honestly dunno what i could change in the settings tbh...
Well, are they in line with the Discord settings?
As in TMP and Discord use same audio devices.
bieleve so yeah
I'm soon gonna have an upgrade... well the box is here, the two drives are here, just need to install them :3
Current Drives:
Dad gave me an old external drive that he didn't need anymore. Which is the third drive.
First is my phone, last is my USB key, soon gonna have a 4 TB NVMe SSD (PCI) for my games, and a 8 TB HDD, oh and the drive where my OS is, is a NVMe on the m.2 port on my motherboard
We are sharing drives. 👀
Here are mine. I just formatted the external one I had forgotten about. It's an old drive I got from my summer job at my city's IT support.
Fallout 4
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/wtypVc decided to start out on my first build instead of getting another prebuilt. Any suggestions on improvements I could make?
Hmmm...
12TB, that's a lot of storage
Im not sure about the CPU, since we have yet to see some reviews after its release, maybe going with ryzen will still be more interesting
that’s not bad price either lol
8TB purely for xplane, 4TB for anything else
still, 12TB are sweet...
nice gifts
Yeah I should be good for many years hopefully, depending how long they will last too
yall people are showing off gpus and cool rgb, like guys i dont even have a gpu
RGB keyboard with all colors shining at once... trust me
100% legit
My keyboard has "€" on "E". Wonder what was achieved by putting it on "5"?
i don’t even have € on my keyboard
Different scancode for the key
But does that give any advantage compared to the conventional option? 🤔
It depends on what you deem as an advantage
Well... Saving money would be the concern of any manufacturer generally.
Or efficiency.
the best part is that I have this laptop for nearly 3 years and I haven't figured out how to type euro sign
fun thing I discovered now is that you can press tab and use different discord stuff by clicking enter
It should be AltGr+5.
For me it's ALTGR + E
The g923 has a better brake peadal which is hellua had to depress all the way
Happy New Year to all the tech geeks, hope you get tech of your dreams
works
logitech g923
yep
Well, any other reason to pay more for it than G29? 🤔
Probably not
Trustmaster or Fanatec would be better 😦
for ets2 and ats, I think the number of buttons on the g923 / g29 / g920 out weighs any possible benefit
Well, when you can add your own button. Or built your wheels yourself with a fanatec controller, I don't see any benefits
it has a better brake peadal
thats all i know about the diffrence
o and trueforce
What's more powerful, a Ryzen 7 or Core i7?
Depends
on the gpu?
no, which generation are you using - and what do you want to do with that CPU? Gaming, Rendering?
preferably gaming
Well, okay. then both brands are good to go
on a 3060ti complete pc, 16gb, 1tb ssd, the price difference is $150 between the two cpu's
Don't buy a complete PC
they are mostly overpriced and the price/power level is mostly not balanced out... more price than power
hm
just build it yourself, it's not that bad
I mean, it might be overwhelming if you don't have any experience
it's like lego, but much more higher in the price... and you can do much more on it as just with lego lol
also true
It is NOT like a Lego
but there are tons if not gigatons of tutorials for "How To build a Computer"
I know it's not like Lego, but still... it's better to build it yourself... so if something is wrong, you know, what you have to do, and if you want to add a HDD or SSD to the computer, the warranty is gone, so selfbuilding is the only and one best solution IMO
If something is wrong with your prebuild, you can call a support.
You don't have to bang your head by the case to solve the issue.
How would you know what you have to do when you build your first PC without any prior knowledge?
I'd search for a tutorial, and that's how I have done it also
My first PC was not a prebuilt one, it was one built by me
with the help of a tutorial obviously
When you have no background in certain topic, you won't know what to search.
yeah, I can agree to that
If you are curious enough to test yourself, then go ahead.
but "tutorial pc build" is giving me some quite nice things on google
I meant "build" as a whole process from parts selection to a software installation
HyperX quadcast mic
Is that what you use, Soul
That's what i got today
Noice
You can build a PC with no experience easily, just hop on linustechtips forum if you have issues and watch an in depth tutorial
https://prnt.sc/werc5d I guess, that should be good for 2021, huh?
Was about to saying that

Just 16TB, there are single drives bigger than that
That's just the floor?
Soulieeee
You know what I actually mean... floor, apartement or whatever it's called
Flat @latent aurora
English is a very confusing language
Dealer or whatever: How much storage do you need?
Maurice: Yes.
indeeeed 😂
you can never have to much storage
Seller: What do you need?
Mauwrice: Yeeees.
a friend suggested me to buy a PB in SSDs
well, what am I doing with 1024TB or 1 PB
and the price..... was quite shocking lol
Imagine Cloud
uhm, yeah, but it's expensive af...
Yes
and also, I am making a RAID... so if a HDD is going to heaven (or hell), I still have my data
and that'S not possible with exactly ONE drive
Which raid level you plan to do?
I don't know yet, but I want it to make it that way, so I have on two HDDs the same data (like mirroring) if you know what I mean 😄
so if one HDD is going to heaven, I don't have dataloss
i personally recommend raid 50
I planned this to do, but don't know how to
but you do need 6 drives for it

Raid 0 is stripping which doubles your storage but with zero redundancy, I've seen peeps in the past using this and they thought they were protected
I got raid 5 running on my 6 drives server, seems to be working well
Raid 50 is for mission critical solutions, i don't see someone running that at home !
oh... like if one HDD is dying, you will loose all data? (Raid 0) ?
Yes
raid 50 is raid 6 (somewhat) on steroids
2 raid 5s in a raid 0* array
one hdd/ssd in each array can fail without losing anything
but you get double (in theory) the speed of a single raid 5 array
Huh? Raid 10 is a 1+0
corrected
i need some help here, im setting up my streamlabs obs in preparation to streeam tmp, the issue im having is that whenever i go into tmp or ets singleplayer streamlabs doesnt pick up any audio from the game, however it will pick up other audio such as youtube etc. anyone have any idea on how to fix this
Is the desktop audio set correctly?
i fixed it now but thank you
Yeah sometimes you have to fiddle with the options
Any good wireless earbuds that is both waterproof and has noise cancellation? Currently looking at the Sony WF-SP800N to give you a sense of budget

This is the RAM I want to upgrade too
cries in bottle neck of death w/ ma GPU
you can always have unwanted HDD space etcc turned into VRAM to back up you gpu an thing
I only have 223GB+1TB external
I got 256gb SSD and 1TB SSD
For some reason my HDD isn't plugged
i allocate 50gb instantly to VRAM that way yes im 50gb on ssd or hdd down but i got VRAM backing up my GPU and processors if needed
hmm
I have 6GB VRAM
cries in 4
mayby defective sata port it plugg in or u need to go bios and add it to your boot up directory
My PC is mid-high tier, but it's just the storage and the CPU
Aight, what is the button for BIOS again
i use a 1tb extern SSD plugg into usb 3.0
I would say mine is on the bad side of high end, if you exclude my GPU (which will be upgrade in 2021)
I have a 1TB Western Digital hard drive
so i got high speed transferr so when i play it doesnt lagg an things use it for all my games etcc
with a new GPU i would say i am in High end area (no where near those 3k€ PC's), but the performance is quite good then
you got it jacked into right sata slott ?
enabled it in bios etc
to reconize addition storage
i can build them and thing (pc's) but im more technicall
i have degrees in advanced computer sciences and thing codeing java script html all that bs
My dad has that too
that it pre built come pre speced
But my dad doesn't go in too deep with hardware
the mrs just bought the son a pc like 600 gbp
pre built blah blah he booted it up and was trynna game etcc
it was bottle necked more than my mrs throat with my you know what
i gone tweaked it set it up and he happier than larry
My PC recognises my HDD, but it doesn't allow storage to be accessed
So I had to borrow a external HDD from my dad
just his screen limit him to 60 fps hahahaha nub he is so i told him use ur xmas cash for a new monitor prefably one like mine
1TB
it need fragged or formatted using a win disck
when you load win disk etc it ask u keep all or delete all u keep all and delete only what you mark up
basuically u wanna wipe that hdd and formatt it using win disk
aww fk
right win 10 obvs ?
use your win 10 back up usb or drives initate the repair on that drive only
in win 10 u can acess and usee ur repair from log in basically
from ur pc with no usb or disck as long as the back up files aint corrup you not installing win agaion etcc
just using it formatt and reset a drive
Via BIOS?
oki
i just got go do something man my mrs is kicking off haha
i was meant do it 3 hours ago
here the link
itle tell u how acess advanced toruble shoot blah blah
use it to reformatt your hdd if tyhe pc reconizes it once done shall be good to store
Thanks
can anyone help when i try connect internet via ethernet cable it dsnt recognise it
or it knows its plugged in but it dosnt find intenet
Try to disable and then enable the network adapter
tired already
When i try that diagnos thing it says doesnt have a valid ip confihguration
Then it's not connected at the other end, where did you connect it?
It sounds to me like there's no functioning dchp server on the other end of that ethernet cable
Are you making sure to plug it into the LAN port not the WAN port?
aand it stopped working again
tf and after 1h it seems its working again
yall what is the better graphic card, 2080ti or 3060ti (say if you had core i7)? Is there like a big difference between them?
2080ti is about 11% faster, uses about 50W more power, and costs a lot more
is it worth it?
the 10700k
you can find an used 2080Ti for a decent price, but don't buy a brand new one, it's totally not worth it
okay, what about 3080ti? are they alike?
the 3080Ti doesn't even exists atm
only 3080, huh
So the best graphic card for high fps games is 2080ti?
it was, since now the 3070, 3080 and 3090 are better
okay, got it
excepted it isn't ?
the 3070 isn't that bad, considering it's still a good improvement over the 3060 Ti...
covid has lead to a massive boom in gaming so it's no surprise
no, that's not it
previous gen GPUs aren't in production anymore, which is the reason why you can't find them anymore
And it reduced the amount of graphics cards that can be produced
and you can't find any of the new Nvidia GPUs because of production issues paired with a very high demand, especially from cryptominers
I'm waiting for a MSI 1650 Super Gaming X to be in stock
Because the design on them is sooooo good
1650 super looks to be a good buy
I'm just a bit worried about the vRAM situation
it's a lot more though
how much is a 1650 super
a 1650 Super starts at 180€ here, a 1660 Super costs at least 250€, but a good model will be 20 to 30€more expensive
Two old chonkers, ready to get repaired.
Left one has a YLOD, right one I fixed the shell and swapped the disc drive with one of my other spare PS3 Fat Lady.
I figured out why my computer kept lagging and crashing my game
My hard drive was set by default to turn off after 20 minutes and apparently that kept making my gpu die
My Gaming Laptops
Left
Core 2 Qiad Q9650
2x8800m GTX sli 512mb
8GB ddr2 ram
right
Core 2 Extreme X9100
8GB DDR3 ram
Geforce FX2700m 512mb
those are pretty nice!

Finally, my 10 year old PC that I found on the side of the road can retire
Finally
The Motherboard dont support more than 8gb whit sli...
the chipset support 32gb ram... whit one graficcard
3 way sli seems a bit excessive
2 way😏
2 hdds and one ssd under the battery

Looks like 3 gpus to me
Specs from my Laptop
ASMR time

xD
I'd give everyone a nice advice. Don't buy so called "Gaming Notebooks".
i7-8750H, Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060.
CPU fan died.

CPU fans can die on every laptop, not only on the gaming ones, you know...
also, the cooling on your machine seems to be really weak, you've only got 3 small heatpipes and a single air intake...
that's a lot better than most. I wouldn't call that "really weak"
Better than most, but not that good considering what it has to cool
it's only a 45w cpu
and the mobile versions of gpus are often much less powerful than their desktop equivalents
the real question is whether you remembered to use a thermal paste applicator
and wear an antistatic wristband

45W CPU plus 80W GPU
that's still not a lot... my laptop has similar TDP figures, and yet it has 6 heatpipes with two intakes on the sides, two exhausts on the back and half of the bottom is perforated
that cooling system looks more than sufficient
it has 3 heat pipes linking to a substantial radiator
the manufacturers generally know which components they're including, so they will design and fit a cooling system that can handle it
so I guess that's why most laptops actually suffer that hard from thermal throttle...
well arguably the main reason there is lack of maintenance
the cooling systems are usually perfectly adequate, but add 3 years worth of dust and dried up thermal paste and it won't perform as designed
even after reapplying thermal paste it might not have enough thermal conductivity
but you have to buy really cheap stuff for that to happen
unlikely but it's potentially possible with the really cheap stuff
Ye, that thing is 2 years old
Cleaned it up twice in that time
Never had so much problems before than with this laptop
uh, no
most brand new laptops suffer a lot from thermal throttle, especially the powerful ones
one of my friends have a laptop with an i7 10875h, and it thermal throttles so hard it lost to my i7 9750h by a significant margin in a multicore benchmark, while having 2 extra cores
I don't really think you can say that, given that you probably haven't sampled more than 3 laptops.
oh, you wanna talk about macbooks then?
a laptop's cooling system is just as important as the parts it's cooling
and they vary a lot between models even from the same manufacturer
many of the thin and light laptops have powerful CPUs they can't cool properly just for system snappiness; they're not supposed to run at peak performance for hours or even minutes.. just long enough to do quick tasks quicker while still maintaining decent performance for longer tasks.
I was just saying that making blanket statements is probably ill advised.
you'll find plenty of examples everywhere, thermal throttling is common for a laptop
and it can happen even with a laptop that has a good cooling solution, with a cpu undervolt, etc etc...
also, its bold from you to assume that all manufacturers are willing to spend big amounts of money into designing great cooling solutions
just buy a kegerator fridge and put the laptop inside of it and have the fridge plugged in and running
That's terrible for the lithium ion battery though
I’m sure we’ve ALL thought of doing this to a PC at some point. But is building a computer in a mini fridge ACTUALLY worth the effort?
Corsair link: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/406972-corsair-strafe-mechanical-keyboards-pre-roll-landing-page-for-now/
Pricing & discussion: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/415649-mini-fridge-pc-build-...
Still, saying "most" is likely to be inaccurate. I've got a Latitude 7390 and it hasn't thermal throttled in the year I've used it. 3.4ghz boost is easily maintained.
Also I don't think the fridge is going to disappate the heat well enough because it's air tight, but it's an interesting concept.
no zen 3
stonks stocks*
that's quite the bottleneck
the only consideration is the 4gb of vram
Well, I want to buy a BluRay reader/(writer) - what do you think about that one: https://geizhals.at/pioneer-bdr-212dbk-schwarz-a2223085.html?hloc=at
I want to digitalise my BluRays and also some DVDs and CDs I have since I moved in. TIA 🙂
That's good imo, never owned one myself tho

Beautyfull temps for my 2007 High End Gaming NoteBook D901C

for a notebook very cool... a gaming Notebook from 2020 runs hotter
depends what you're doing
Well, here are definitiely some people who are using MSI Afterburner.... on their site https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner clicking "Download Afterburner" it's just refreshing the site and nothing is happening more (Phone, Laptop and Computer tried)
Why fix it if it ain't broken
aww so smol
The GPU?
idk case is quite small too
It's a bequiet! Pure Base 500
And what else do you expect from a GTX 750 Ti because the GPU market went to 💩
About afterburner, a way to fix that ?
Fix what?
skin scaling in the user interface options
afterburner doesn't listen to the windows scaling option
Ah, nice that's good
which taskbar customiser are you using? @sand valley
Any
@distant sparrow Right Click on the taskbar, you should have a menu called tools bar create an empty folder, resize it and lock the task bar
that's a very clever trick
Thanks 🙂

said i need to update to 20H2 iirc
Win + R -> winver -> Enter
says 20H2 (OS Build 19042.746)
You're updated then.
What does everyone think about the transparency effects in Windows 10?
They're nowhere near as nice as Aero, but I think they're getting better...
It is subtle yet beautiful
I miss aero
Same. There's some work arounds you can do, but I got rid of them because 3rd party software is always a bit rubbish for changing the taskbar etc.
My windows are always maximized, so
do you have the taskbar to auto-hide then?
No, I am accessing my taskbar all the time
How do i remove these from having the status on onedrive as it wont let me edit properties since they are in onedrive.
some reason all my files have been saved to onedrive despite it being disabled
I have the taskbar on all screens and translucenttb can't handle that properly, every time the screen saver or a fullscreen application came on it would reset on the secondary screen.
With my current setup I stuck to onboard tools, I recreated time-based switching between light and dark mode similar to what I have on my phone 😁
whenever i try to edit it comes up with this too
so close
https://www.speedtest.net/result/10755502807.png well.... I am not close to anything
looks like a fairly typical FTTC connection to me
You may live in a better area.. but our internet is better
Bc it’s a village/town
Excuses excuses
Gets down to 20 sometimes
Did you expect me to live in a city?
It’s an excuse tho
👀
better than mine 50/10
yeah 😄
but i see u have the same provider as me
i have kableplus as provider
I got a question. I have a local server running windows 10 and I also use extended datasharing on a HDD where all my Movies/Shows/Music/Pics are located in. So far so good.
In the local network it's working fine - more as fine. What do I need to do to get access out of the local network?
I guess port forwarding, so far so good. Which Port exactly? (I can do that, as I also host a MC Server on it and the RDP is also working fine being not in local network
)
You don't want to share your network shares on the net, very bad idea
Well, how am I supposed to connect me to the Server then?
Port forward for rdp, fine, but network shares, that's a big no no
Brute force though...
Rdp is fine for that, you do realize that there's millions of rdp serves out there, i don't think there is a know hack for port 3389
even if, I changed the external port to a different one
but still, how can I get access to my files when I am not at home?
Rdp
as I want to share this bibliothek with my mom as her TV can do that
well, without laptop?
I just want to stream the files to my mom's TV and if I am on the way (like on a train) I want to watch my things on it
there must be a solution or am I wrong?
It is not easy to do that, if you share your network drive over the internet you"ll be hacked in less than an hour. A vpn?
what about installing a cloud and using one who can stream the files?
like... nextcloud AFAIK?
Ya, that would be a much better approach
Alright
But you must find a TV that will be able to connect to this service
oh yeah, there was something...
If it's an android TV, you can connect it to a google account and get access to google drive or something
It's a Samsung 😅
I will just give her my old laptop and will bookmark the site then
now I have another question.... what is a good alternative to plesk? Should be cost-free... like domainmanagement.... I use Debian 10 as VM (HyperV)
Consider using software like Plex.tv for streaming movies, music and pictures as it comes with an app on pretty much all platforms, including Samsung TV's Tizen OS. Also for RDP (and anything else tied to my home network) from remote I use Wireguard @latent aurora
Look it up
I don't want to upload over 1000 Episodes and Movies 😂
I have the whole show of grey's anatomy, supernatural, s*x education, der bergdoktor and so on
You can just set up your Plex media server and then stream from it to the Plex app on a device of your choice
so I don't have to upload it?
No you host your own media server, so if your files are already on your server you could set that one up as the media server
@tiny niche the result -> Plex is running fine now, but I have to pay in the android app, if I want to stream it..., luckily I have VLC for local playing, but I consider purchasing the 5€ though
thanks again for this suggestion
https://videocardz.com/newz/asrock-mocks-msi-and-asus-for-copying-their-x570-aqua-motherboard-design
ASRock mocks MSI and ASUS for copying their design ASRock on Facebook posted a video mocking two motherboard makers for being ‘too inspired’ by their X570 AQUA ultra-premium design. ASRock X570 Aqua is a special limited motherboard for enthusiasts based on AMD 500 series chipset. This motherboard was unique for many reasons, such as being […]
You shouldn't really use 3389 for RDP since its a common attack vector for unpatched RDP servers/phished credentials, though you probably already knew that
also for the above sharing thing -> OpenVPN is the answer if you need direct access to network shares
- Different port via router forwarding rules
- Strong password
or better
- VPN to your location, yeah
I'd be hesitant to open an RDP port direct to your own PC even if its different unless you're going through an RDS gateway. All it takes is for your system to be unpatched or a 0 day exploit for someone to gain complete access. Not worth the risk imo
can't say I've had any experience with Wireguard yet
Last time I set it up was when it was still in its infancy, maybe I should give it a try now that it's more polished
it's built into the kernel now
I think iOS supports it natively too now?
not sure about iOS but the android app works great
except it doesn't reconnect after restarting the phone
https://www.adamintech.com/install-wireguard-on-ubiquiti-edgerouter-edgeos/ wow, this seems far more trivial than OpenVPN
Wireguard can be installed on Edgerouter systems by Ubiquiti. You may need to fiddle a little bit in order to get it working due to some missing functionality. This guide will help you set it up on your EdgeOS device and how to configure it. Where to download Wireguard You can get an EdgeOS build … Install Wireguard on Ubiquiti Edgerouter EdgeOS...
if all you need is a connection between 2 networks, it's super simple
No Wireguard for me coz RouterOS 6 doesn't support it 😭
maybe you could try flash a custom firmware such as OpenWRT if it supports it?
you can just use it on end devices instead of a router
I like ROS though
port forward
Meh
Ubiquity equipment is trusted in my case
I use it to access my cloud servers so my usecase is very different.. don't have a network setup at home yet
I have a signal lengthener
I hope you're running CAT6 cabling into every room
wired consumer internet in Germany is baad
That's... good
But the upload is not matched with the download
I don't think 3v gets more than 10/10
Fairly normal
Most ISPs don't have the backbone to support large upload speeds, and most consumers don't even need it
Not bad
I get 100/100 on a good day
problem is that I also get less than 1/1 on a daily basis out of the same router
I get consistently over 100/100 on 5G with my phone so I just use that
There is an iOS app to configure it, it even features on-demand activation, so I set it to always be enabled when on mobile data or in a WiFi other than my own. It doesn‘t kill the battery too ^^
I mainly use it for Pi-hole, it‘s super easy to install if you use pivpn: https://www.pivpn.io I only had to manually configure everything for IPv6 support which pivpn didn‘t have when I installed it (don‘t know if they have it now)
didn't know about pivpn but that's exactly why I installed wireguard on my phones
Opinions on s21?

In my opinion it's an s20 with a different skin and some very minor changes
Well, I made it now different
I also removed the RDP Port from public ethernet, I use TeamViewer (with Autostart and connected to my Profile there) so I also have access to the Server itself. So the Server runs local again, just some ports are open alike for the MCServers and database-server and (suggested from Flybel) Plex for sharing my media files
not worth at all
i am curios about the exynos 2100 but apart that, many better options
Hello ladies and gents,
I'm considering to buy a new pc, simply because my old one just died back in november. It took a lot of hours, but I came up with the following specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7-10700K
MoBo: ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-E Gaming
Ram: 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB DDR4-3200
Storage: Mushkin Solid State Drive »Pilot-E 2 TB, PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3, M.2 (2280)«
Cooler: MASTERLIQUID ML360R RGB
GPU: GeForce RTX 3070 AORUS MASTER 8G
PSU: Chieftec BDF-850C, 850w
Case: Cooler Master MASTERBOX MB511 ARBG
This pc is considered to be a gaming pc only. What're your thoughts on the above?
if ur going 10th gen i7 why not a 9th gen i9 ? there gunna probs be around similar pricing
Will consider that. Thx
Looks very nice! I'd a separate boot drive as it's good practice, but otherwise gets the 👍 from me!
Will do that. Am thinking about another 500 gb ssd
id go 250gb ssd for win files etc and a 1tb ssd dedicated for ur games n other crap
no reall need for a big boot drive youl just have alott unused gb's
10700k is about the same price as 9900k but it's also slightly faster
yeah agreed marginal differences though but its worth price matching it see hwat save u the lile bit extra speed difference be marginal so your not compromising much going for a few quid saved
- there's the benefits of a newer cpu
true, and might be able to go secondhand for even cheaper
coming to procs i would never go 2nd hand dunno how much its been screwed lol
but ima be building a pc my laptop is a i7 9750H gtx 1650 it rather top end laptop buh i wanna build another machine
been looking at the i9 x series
i9-10980XE
if you need mass storage, HDDs are still better price per byte, but many games these days benefit from SSD speeds too
I had to move fallout 4 from my HDD to an SSD to get rid of stuttering in the game
yeah thats the only issue is ur data transfer why i prefer my games on my 1tb external ssd
man i just found a 29 grand pc i nerli shit my self at 29 grand price
running double processor and triple gpu haha
sounds like a workstation
i think it would run a nasa space ship
3 rtx 3090s lmao a i9 xe and i7 10700k haha omg it looks beautifull but i could buy my house with 29k
only 2 cpus?
the 2 best cpu in the world aye
that seems a terrible deal
oh, it's not a single PC that makes more sense
for people that need lots of cpu cores, they'd be better served with a pair of xeons
it's 2 separate systems in the same case
yh it dual system in one case haha
there's no way you can use all the power simualtaneously
consumer CPUs can't do multiple CPUs in the same system
which is why you use Xeons if you want many cores
yeah sure man i just saw it wilst browsing google it was the price that made me click it haha i wanted see wtf it had inside
have done some work on my setup
i got invest in a decent camera for my streams my laptop hd cam not up to par when my streams r 1080 lol
my hd cams like 420 or 720 tops most likely 420 on a standard laptop screen panel
just use your phone's camera
it's almost certainly a lot better than any webcam you can buy
and most of the apps that you need are free
nahh bruh i got a basher phone 😛 obvious reason
i use stream labs ofc but my standard webcam just bit shit
im awaiting my new phone haha ordered a not20 ultra
What do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7r4HLs3T48E
Just a test to see what it looks like, let me know what you think.
