Can anyone help me? I wanna get a new gaming laptop or desktop. The budget I have is $1000 for computer and $200 for a monitor or two. Any suggestions?
Is building a computer something you can do?
gaming laptop are a waste of money for the price
If anyone needs a portable gaming computer, then you have plenty of money to invest in almost 2 very decent desktops
bruh
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> sfc /scannow

π x2
might be time for a full reset
oh I actually misread it
it didn't fix the issue tho
Did you try running the Microsoft Store Troubleshooter?
no, just various instructions on MS support sites
the case is chopped β - 4/10 IGN
so, I have a lenovo thinkpad T410. So basically ANYTHING is better than this.
not to mention 8+ years old
and no, I don't know how to build a computer
Dat case sucks a$$
:/
Ohh
Ohh what
What is your budjet
This is a a Full in-depth guide on how to build a Gaming PC in 2019. In this video we will walk you thought buying your parts and organizing them before you ...
Ya look it
yea but it'll cost more
yeahhhh.......
Has anyone owned an IPhone XR? If so what was it like as a daily
Idk iphone xr if you drip it and screen brokes it will cost almost same than new phone

Or it'll be fine if you don't drop your phone... or use a decent case π€·
Ok, so I need opinions, if anybody can help, on a cheap SSD I am looking to buy, my HDD failed me
Kingston A400, 480GB, at around 55$, for ETS2/ATS (mainly), maybe F1 2017 (optional), Dirt 3 and Dirt Rally, and once in a while a CS:GO, all while running Discord in paralel.
How much capacity do you need? Are 500-ish GB enough?
that works if you can't afford an SSD
I don't really want to spend $300 USD on a 2tb SSD
it won't be as fast, but it is still faster than an SSD
I know it will be faster than a HDD
But not sure if I really want to transfer 1TB of game data to a different drive
no, that won't work
that kind of drive uses flash memory to store the files the pc often needs access to, in order to accelerate the softwares
but its not a very big amount of memory, so it will work exactly like a standard hdd in the case of a big file transfer
Buy multiple smaller SSD drives and create multiple Steam libraries!!
I have 3 SSD's, 1 nvme for Windows and a large 5TB external drive for backups
So I split my games to multiple, affordable, smaller SSD drives.
can confirm that works well
Can i connext like this or do i need buy 12 pin pcie
@halcyon rune What's the connector?
PCIe
But I meant these from power.
Ya
I think that if they fit, you can plug-in GPU to motherboard.
thats fine like that, the 6 + 2 pins connector is designed to work that way
Ok
anyone noticed ets being very unstable atm
@halcyon rune might wanna durst that off....
@compact cove ya i know i just got it from friend for free
if its older than 3 years, change the paste too
Its 4 years old graphics card but frend said last time he changet was in newyear
should be fine then
@wide temple still havent fried it yet? π€
ur messing ah room
Sshhh....
Guys what would you say is better for ets2 oculus rift or htc vive, Iβm planning on getting one but idk what ones better. Iβm tryna get the full ets2/ats experience lol
that cable management tho
@sand valley if you plan on using it for mp, tmp doesn't support VR
mp tmp?
Put a "," in between and it reads better
Ohhhhh right yeah I know
Guys, does somebody know - can i plug gpu in my notebook?
I just want to have it) Because have only Cpu :3
v
Ok)
When i will have money, i will buy)) But i dont have π
I can go to work in Macdonald', but i am learning in collage)
Hi guys. My mint condition Galaxy S7 (flat) broke down recently. Tech support said it's a mobo issue and they want 100β¬ to fix it. Is it worth it or should I get a new phone? I kinda dig the design of the Xiaomi Mi9T..
100% worth it
Because even if you don't keep it after the repairs you can sell it for more than that
I'd use it until next malfunction tbh, after repair. Then I'd switch phones. I'm looking for opinions rn :)
Any pics of your guys setups? π
this was before i moved the shifter onto the ground
I see a lot of people with the Playseat. Does the bar get in the way?
Im getting the Xiaomi Mi 9T today Falco. But it depends on how much you want/can spend on a phone
Also the Red variant is epic
I tried the playseat and I hated it. That bar does get in the way.
I just got it!
@mighty vine I'm interested in the blue variant
But I opted to repair the S7 this time, if this succeeds then I will save up for a Mi9T
Because I don't know how long this fix will last
Blue looks also coop
Cool,*
But buy a screen protector with it
It doesn't even come with a plastic foil
A glass one would do the job nicely.
I bought one yesterday and it will arrive tomorrow
I am so relieved right now
Something broke in my computer and it couldnt start up correctly
I powered it on and the screen lit up and went black but the light on the side showed it was on
Well, before that, it actually opened the BIOs settings menu on startup. That would've been the 1st sign something was wrong
So after a few times of me messing with it, i powered it on while holding down the windows key and it performed and automatic repair
For a sheet of glass with some adhesive on it...
But it's an elite screen protector so it must be good
@gilded stone idk i paind my screen protector 40euros and someone applied it on my phone and idk is it just for me or someone else too but if you uy protector on samsung galaxy s8 it will break in your pocket or glue wont stick on screen...
Just buy a glass one for cheap and install it yourself, it does the job done
This is what I did with my phone
Also, it doesn't stick on s8 because it has an edge display so a screen protector can't really bend
tomorrow first time i put my graphics card in oven hopefully it fixes this
fixes what?
graphics card if there is bad soldering it will resoder it
You should put it in the dishwasher works 100%
Uh
No
Der8auer does that to clean his motherboards, not to resolve soldering issues...
Would this be good for running ets2?
On MP
8GB Ram is a little on the light side but it'll work
but with 4hrs of battery life you might wanna keep it plugged in
A 120hz display with a rx560x looks a bit stupid...
Ets2 should run without issues in solo, but it will be tougher in mp
You might have to play the game in low quality
i think on simglepalyer on ultra will be 100fps and mp will be on low est 70fps?
In singleplayer in high/ultra, it should hold around 60 to 70 fps
In mp, it probably won't often get above 30fps
Excepted if you stay in areas where there are no players
Kk
should be much better than my current specs though
welcome to 2013
@compact cove didn't notice you pinged me
nah, waiting for the ABBA BIOS to fix the boost clocks though
I can see 5 of the cores hit 4.4 GHz but the rest stay at about 4.35
i think i pinged you last week?..... jeezus christ Moh
I get many pings and messages on a daily basis, sometimes I forget
stop this bulli
also, gettin a new case and new cpu
It was pretty funny to see MSI leak the ABBA BIOS beta before the actual release date tho
when they've been the slowest for BIOS updates in the past
which 1?
evolv shift air and 3700x
hubby finally treating you huh
ive been very very good
that's one tall boi
xD
insert smirk face
gpu goes top to bottom
o

i might watercool it π€
custom or AIO?
I don't think it's worth slapping an expensive AIO on a 3700X, the gains are so negligible
I would have been fine with the stock cooler tbh
same everythin
ooo
not sure what ill do with the raven case π€
but its the only one in the country πΉ
Imported?
its not sold here, i got mine by accident
was supposed to get the rgb version
phanteks shipped the argb version
argb?
ahh
argb strip = rainbow puke strip
I can't turn off the RGB strip on my motherboard rip
not that I see the case anyway for now
what mobo was it?
B450M Mortar
so msi
ye
mystic light not working?
It does, but there's no option to switch it "off"
I guess I could set the light to black
It does
pretty sure neither of our asrock mobos have an 'rgb off' button
polychrome app is pretty buggy
but i can go 0-0-0
The software is pretty shoddy though, as always from MSI. ASRock (at least when I used their software on my Z97) was really nice
if i open polychrome now
i have to set it, apply and the close the app
i cant apply again without restarting the app
wat
quality mobo software π
only the finest lel
asus is by far the worst
It seems to be a common theme for all the mobo manufacturers, really really badly written Windows apps
aura sync didnt even want to start on the old z170 that we had
oof

quality asus products π
In other news, I did break something on my old PC whilst I was cleaning it for sale the other day. Power switch ripped off along with the LED yaaaayy
Had the flimsiest solder I'd ever seen
you mean the power button on the case?
yup
I thought about just leaving it, and wiring the reset switch as the power but then that would lower the price
the wires are as thin as hair
At least Fractal sell spares so I ordered one, now I gotta wait for it to ship all the way from Germany yaaaaay
my raven case came from germany πΉ
did it take long to arrive all the way in Romania?
that's actually... not that bad
the truck got stuck for over a week in austria or somethin like that
like, snow stuck
would have gotten it in less than a week otherwise
I wonder how much I'll be able to get for my old PC
Processor: Intel Core i5-4690K @ 4.2 GHz
Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BL
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 EXTREME4
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro (4 x 4GB) DDR3-1866
Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB
Video Card: XFX R9 280 Black Edition DD
Case: Fractal Design Define R4 w/Window (Black Pearl)
Power Supply: Corsair RM650 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB DVD/CD Writer
Fan Controller: NZXT Sentry 3
Fans: 4x Fractal R2 Silent 120mm
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
everythin is decent apart from that R9
ye true, it's been sat in storage for like 3 years
5 years yeah, July 2014
I've ran a memtest on the RAM, it passed with no errors. AIDA64 pushes it to about 65c-70c average
Haven't done any GPU testing though
dont bother, its too old
You say that, but I did spend like 3 hours the other day cleaning it πΉ
a cheap 1650 will smoke it
It was really dusty tbh
even an rx470 would smoke it....
Probably run a lot cooler too, I noticed that even on idle the side of the case is so warm
expect the thermal paste to be brick-paste
I considered replacing the GPU's paste, but I doubt it's worth it
I did change the CPU one as it did look sparse
i still have my R9 290 and 390
owning =/= using
i'm using a 1080ti now
its using 3.75 amps?
assuming your mains voltage is 240v (only one im aware of xd)
what power does your laptop need?
so I go to turn on my laptop and the power light turns on but the screen doesnt. My caps lock light starts flashing. Anyone know what this means?
What model and brand laptop?
@dawn kiln
Because my HP laptop did that when the ram failed
@placid dragon HP Stream laptop
How many flashes does it do?
It doesnt stop. It flashes a couple times and then quickly flashes
How many is a couple?
i want to kms, designing a pcb for a 16 bit sequencer, no Arduino, all with ICs
nearly freakin done
@slow widget You should rather put in #irl-trucking ...
@placid dragon Idk
is ETS2 CPU or GPU bound?
Mp or solo?
In solo, it should be more gpu intensive
But MP hits the cpu quite hard if im not mistaking
Ok so, flash drives aren't meant to do this. Right?
And when I say flash drive, I really mean dash cam
Looks kinda corrupted
I once had a USB that randomly had 2 files made in over 1000 years
Got it working, oddly by switching USB ports. They are both front panel as well on the same MB header so π€·
It repeats exactly the same when I plug it back into the same port as well lol
Port works fine for literally anything else.
Light bulb moment, I use that port for Arduino. Maybe that's affecting it?
Never had issues like that with mine
I have no clue why windows wanted to use most of my ram
Iβll see what itβs like tomorrow
maybe swap them around
My laptop has a RAM issue
my laptop is an issue lel
nom
64gb of ram will be good for 4 chrome tabs, at a stretch maybe 5
lol
12.8 is being used
i dont know why
maybe its just windows doing 64bit stuff
nom
literally nothing is being used and its really annoying seeing my ram at 40-50%
does anyone know how to free up cached ram
14.7gb of it is cached

clean out your cookies and browser history
i use firefox and have it set to delete browser history and cookies after i close the browser
k
much better
nice
should I be scared? When i plugged in my kindle it tried unlocking itself and kept doing the password 7777 several times until it said it was entered incorrectly too many times and gave me the option to wait, reset the password, or factory reset. Factory reset got highlighted. I shut it off and powered it back on. When I took it out of sleep mode it made weird noises
sounds like it's damaged somehow
yea that sounds damaged
@sand valley cleanmem is good for memory leaks or ReduceMemory
Would it be practical to get a monitor with a laptop? Because the whole point of a laptop is portability right?
it depends
if you spend a lot of time somewhere specific, but also need to carry the laptop around a lot, it might make sense to get a monitor for it
there are also some travel monitors, which usually aren't very good, but do their jobs
I spend a lot of time in one place and I don't really need to move it around a lot but i do use my desk for other things and would need to move it out of the way
I think my desk is 2x4 feet if that helps?
might have trouble fitting both a laptop and a monitor comfortably on a desk that small
I see, thanks for the help.
You could mount the monitor on an arm so you can swing it out the way, giving you more desk space
Monitor arms are relatively simple, you could get one that just does up and down, those are fairly cheap assuming you don't need something heavy duty
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
that actually looks pretty good
most monitor stands come with screws to attach your monitor to the stand
You can also get one of those fancy book style tops which you can prop the monitor on and slide the laptop underneath
e.e
lol nice cardbox setup π
Yess
oh look i found a old setup pic from 2017 from this discord https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/307433337126125568/391819753221783552/20171216_230910.jpg
Interesting streamer you're watching there

lol that's a 2 year old picture
nothing wrong with watching those kind of streamers moh
oh come on, we all know they're not streaming for the gameplay
atleast she admits that she wears a pushup bra
there is one that i follow that has 2 bigger personalities than those and they are real
π
3v i can give you the link but don't go banning her
chances are I already know
she's from canada
I don't go researching where they live π

Saskia
Yes i had one
Oh well it broke in 1 yr
@sand valley ok
i still have my logitech G27
Does someone know a good Shop for Nintendo DSi xl Battery?
They'll probably have them here: https://uk.webuy.com/
The Cex homepage.
Hey guys, so good news and bad news. First the bad, my current computer was overheating and dying (yup dying, it was crashing and not turning back on) so I opened it up. the good news is that I was able to put it back together AND find the problem!
unfortunately, I don't have the necessary pieces so imma need to buy them.
what was the problem though @sick yoke
Nice
I'm going to turn it on after a few minutes we build it together with my dad
That's the backside don't wonder
I'll send the front side too

I run ETS2MP with a potato
@sand valley the fan is dead and the thermal paste is hard as rock
Oof lol
yeah, I'm currently relying on an external fan
Check out Displate's metal posters at https://lmg.gg/displateltt Use code LINUS and get 25% off GlassWire at https://lmg.gg/glasswire Noctua is finally offer...
his face is spooky
π
You could've used white text Microsoft
no that's too complicated
Hey guys, completely off topic here but I'm building a pc and need storage, would appreciate some input/opinions or such on these 2.
4x 1tb 970 evo plus 3500mbps read/3300mbps write
Or
4x 2tb 970 evo 3500mbps read/2500mbps write
Yes I do need the THAT much space
Not off topic just copy-pasted from #general cause I'm lazy
why so much space tho

well i've almost used half of a 2TB HDD just for games
if i were to install all of my steam games i'd need at least a 6TB HDD
Rate my desktop: ( note it is custom )
Intel i7 3rd gen. Clocked at 3.40ghz with 32gb of ram and a NVIDIA Gtx 960..
Rate 1-10..
better than mine
Whats yours @gilded stone ?
Beg to differ.. but anyway, depends what the i3 is clocked at..
Do you know how many ghz?
3.3
Thats not bad
Also Comparing the 960 to a 1050, really the 960 has better statistics, but the 1050 gets a few more frames on certain games
So yeah your partially right..
If its the ti, then theyre both evenly matched but if its not then the 960 blows it away lol
yeah the 960 is better
ok, can someone help me? i just bought a new pc and it says it has aerocool fans, but when i try to install the software is says no device detected
Which software?
the aerocool one
The fans are plugged on an aerocool fan hub?
If not, you will have to use the softwares from your motherboard manufacturer
well idk it's prebuild
and it says aerocool in front of the pc
where are the 3 fans
I can't tell you where your fans are plugged in
But its probably the motherboard that controls them, so you should try
so i should type the motherboards name and then install that driver?
Yeah, all the motherboard manufacturers have dedicated softwares
ok, thanks
ok so i found the thing but there are multiple of them
which one?
does someone know?
VGA and Audio are drivers, BIOS is the basic I/O for the motherboard...
@void prawn these are the drivers, thats probably not what you're looking for
There is asus suite III, but Im not sure it is compatible with your mobo...
so what should i do
asus fan 2?
*asus fan xpert 2
ok i will try it when i finish the match
Just checked, the latest one is fan xpert 4, thats the one you should download to control your fans speed
just the speed or the color too ?
If you have rgb fans, you will also have to download asus aura
Np

+1
Nvidia entered the chat
Did core 12 go with 10 and 11?
Have you ever seen a 13 core cpu?
buyable CPU DLC :D.... π buy a 6 core and unlock up to 12 cores π
π
does anyone know how fix my gpu when i am in homescreen i hear small static noise and when i try open some game it will work little bit and whole pc crashes or game goes black?
What kind of noise? A sort of whining?
if it's goes black it's probably overheating
Make sure there are not any cables that block the fan of the VGA. At next, download MSI Afterburner, and there you will be able to download RivaTuner in the Afterburner setup wizard. If you downloaded them, open MSI Afterburner, go to settings -> monitoring -> click on GPU temperature -> and tick "Show in On-Screen Display, then OK it.
Now open RivaTuner. Turn on Show On-Screen Display, On-Screen Display support. And you ate done, now it will monitor you the GPU temperature in real time, when you play.
Please, if you answer, let me know that what GPU do you have, is your problem solved, and finally ping me. If it doesn't help, I will try to show you an another method. @halcyon rune
umm if i try use some stress on card it will crash or go black screen
Fine, check the cables in your computer case, or try to use another cable for your monitor.
Googling that was so hard eh?
toshiba power worked better thanmaxwell
if i use same email on windows what i had before does it use same windows 10pro because im missing watermark rn
When installing windows from usb drive, try to use a USB2 port instead of a USB3 port. Drives in USB3 ports are sometimes not detected.
And your download ETS2 and Promods with it nice
Damn that HP keyboard is sick
there's a ton of those at my school but they're old and have been used a lot so they're shit to type on
a chair would not be that bad π but nice and clean

Ty
nice Cars poster
@brazen mountain lol i have 2 keyboard hp and some shitty mechanical keyboard ynder the hp
Well if it works it works. We still also have them at my workplace π
here's some tech gore https://i.3v.fi/1571704526-89de.png
that Minecraft world was a bit larger than I thought it was
Ouch

Geez, looks like Star Citizen big
it's around 4 million chunks
going to take around 3 hours to convert this world and I won't know if it even worked until then
found out what's taking so much disk space
not enough SDK's π
I use WinDirStat to find out where all the space is used, I recommend it.
3 years later

around 18GB freed uninstalling the old SDKs

Modern console emulation is a pain!
just buy the console and the game π
Just changed my SSD
250GB nothing much, mainly to store windows on. I got a 4TB HDD for my games and some small other apps.
Put your documents and pictures and stuff on your ssd then you have fast opened you documents
hey youre dutch
At least ASUS makes installing BIOS updates easy, no stupid plug a USB into this port and mash a key on boot up. Just click update in EZ-Update and it does everything
@placid dragon is that your monitor ? π
Nah, my bios goes to my 2nd monitor for some reason
And thatβs only a cheap TV Iβve had for a long time
i thought you have a 2080TI and play on that xD
Spent in all on a 2080ti
@placid dragon Updating BIOS on MSI is even easier, you just plug in USB and press BIOS button, you do not even need cpu, ram, gpu. It fixes a corrupt bios too. π
Oh nice
Is 3440x1440 worth it? Or should I stick to 2560x1080?
But 4k would probably be a bit too much for me to drive. I have a gtx 1660ti laptop
It is a replacement for my main monitor
And I believe you read it wrong, currently I have 2560x1080 not 2560x1440
A 1660ti will have difficulties running big games with a 3440x1440 monitor
I would recommend getting at least an rtx 2060 super to run that kind of screen with comfortable framerate and a high level of details
But 2560x1080 will be fine with a 1660 ti
I assume you are talking about ultra settings right?
I don't mind having to lower the settings a bit to get playable framerates
bruh, for some reason every windows login rests my G27 in 200Β° what can be?
3440x1440 is worth it, even though my opinion is biased
I use such a screen with a GTX 1070
Depends of the games... if you run only games like ets2, then a 3440x1440 screen will be perfectly fine, but it you want to play some AAA games it won't be the best idea
Im running a 2560x1440 screen paired with a 1070 ti, and it still struggles to reach 60fps with ultra settings in games like deus ex... with a 1660 ti and a wider screen, that won't make above 40fps, which is still playable but not very comfortable
I do play AAA games from time to time, but most of the time I play either ets2 or rocket league
The most demanding game I have right now would probably me AC: Odyssey (in which I donβt even have an hour of time spent after having it for half a year)
Uh
AC odyssey is...
An ubisoft game, lets put it like that
But if you don't play it, then running a 3440x1440 screen wont be a problem
But its a lot more expensive, so think twice before getting one
If you get a G-sync monitor or any monitor with adaptive sync, you won't have a problem
Don't get a g-sync monitor unless you're willing to spend over 800β¬ for a monitor
If youβre getting a 3440x1440 monitor itβs gonna be over 500 euros for something decent anyways lul
Makes no sense to cheap out if youβre going all out
3440x1440 would kill my GTX 1050 lmao
I have an i3 3220 so they go together pretty well
like there might be a little bit of a CPU bottleneck but it's not too bad most of the time
I was barely peaking 50% GPU utilisation with my 4690k
What do you have now?
3700x
cash money
It dented my balance quite a bit, especially as I went all flash storage
I'm gonna be doing that with my next build. I don't want my next system to have any slow spinning storage.
Flash storage is becoming cheaper by the day now. Worth it
I currently have this.
6700K and an MSI Z170 Krait Gaming 3X board housed in a white Corsair 400C.
I have no money so it's been like this for a while. My old laptop dying and me having to buy a computer and upgrade it so it's usable for gaming set me back quite a bit so I haven't been able to get this thing in a functional state.
Not having a job doesn't help either.
Last question in my search for a new monitor, IPS or VA. I do love some good blacks but I'm afraid I'll lose out on colors
IPS is always 1000:1, VA is 3000:1 most of the time
h m m
Viewing angles are really important on a wide monitor
At my normal viewing distance the outer edges would have an angle of 56 degrees
I mean.. most of the time you'll see colors unless you play Metro and stay in the tunnels all day.
In my opinion Colors > deep black
And about G-Sync. You can get a AMD Freesync monitor and activate G-Sync on it if you have a nVidia GPU
Yo, does someone know what should i do if i get 85 C when playing games?
Playing what game(s)?
CPU or GPU Temp?
After how many hrs of playing?
Also what are your specs? CPU? GPU? Cooler?
@void prawn Are you on laptop or desktop?
Desktop
Rx 580 8gb
I5 9400f
3 fans
After 30m
Cpu max 92 gpu max 87
Playng Cod ww2
What PC case do you own? Bad airflow can cause this kind of errors.
Do you often vacuum your PC?
Could you send an image from it, please?
So yeah, there is the problem. This PC has got a fully blocked front. It does not matter how many fans does it have, because there is only a very small place where the cold air can go into your case.
Also, as far as I see, you do not have a rear fan.
Well, the shop that i bought it from said it will have 4 but came with 3
Now this pc case works like a hotbox.
So what should i do?
throw it out the window
I don't have a window :d
Well idk how to install a fan or smh
I can't just like make anything else?
Do you have any experience in BIOS settings? It could help you a little bit.
Oof...
But you can tell me
So you aren't tech savvy
I really need help, i just bought this pc and can't play games
It has fps
But no cooling
At least your room will be warm and you don't have to use fire which damages the earth.
Yes, I can catch your point. Can you bring it back to the shop and ask for a refund? I can recommend you a case that has got a really cool airflow.
I'm gonna call them
Ok nice.
But the shop is closed now and tmr
Well, wait
Later, the case that I recommend you is the Cooler Master mastercase H500. It has got perfect airflow, I own it too.
If helps i can do it
Add me on discord, we can talk about it in pm, and not there to not spam the #tech channel.
@void prawn is there anyway you can remove the front panel if patrik hasn't already suggested that
idk
i can give you the case
and u can look
it has some little holes
in the front
do you know what the case is called?
Was looking at new laptops, not looking for the best thing out there as I stick to a few games (not interested in desktop as I need something portable) are these specs good enough to run truckersmp in populated areas with at least high graphic settings in game. Also open to suggestions. (Nothing more than 870β¬)
If my Β£200 PC will manage, that definitely will π
For high FPS in high traffic situations on TMP you want a decent CPU
Is this any better? I donβt know much about laptops and PCβs in general. @placid dragon
Or even this
And even then my PC struggles with a lot of people around and it's overkill
And I'm not sure about laptop CPU's but I'll take a quick look for you
Okay the last one you posted is much better for gaming since it has a slightly less powerful CPU, but the GPU in it is much better
^
Only downside is that it has less storage, but it is an SSD
Okay great, Iβve found the same one but with 512gb ssd so Iβll probably go with that π
as I said, Iβm only onto a few games
into*
Fair enough, that laptop will allow you to set a lot of games to high graphics and possibly ultra for some older titles
Thanks for the help
No problem
You can spec your laptop on pcspecialist if you're in europe, idk for other regions
Nevermind, it might be too expensive for a low end laptop
This is my beast

It doesn't matter how powerful is your PC, in ETS2. You will always lag when there are a lot of people nearby. This is because the game uses like one core and it is not optimised for MP
can anyone help me?
i played modern warfare and my pc crashed, is a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with 3400 MHz good or should i get a better cpu?
what kind of "crash" bluescreen ? blackscreen ?
pc extremly hot ?
what other components you have in your pc ?
@eager fossil hmmm the ryzen 5 2600 isn't even a bad cpu
Press the power button for 5secs
Wait a bit and reboot
but how can i solve the problem
the bbbbb sound
It could be overheating, or something in your system isn't up to the task so it's dying a death
CPU overheating?
it's a possibility
i got the stock cooler -.-
Nothing wrong with that tbh
the cooler is weak

well what's the rest of your system like?
let's narrow it down to what might be wrong
The Wraith RGB cooler from AMD is cool and effective
Case: Chieftec Scorpion II
Mainboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS ELITE
SSD: 500GB
HDD: 4TB
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4-3600 DIMM
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor, 3400 MHz
CPU Cooler: Ryzen Stock Cooler
GPU: Radeon RX Vega 64
Power Supply: be quiet! 700 Watt Pure Power 11
@chilly imp
okay, so how much RAM do you have? 8GB, 16?
16
what u mean?
3600 on ram is a bit too much for that cpu, knock it down to 3200
how?
In the BIOS ofc
-.-
That motherboard can't even support ram at 3600mhz...
So its probably running at the 2133mhz base speed...
Ram might not be the issue, but you might change its settings to 3200mhz if its not the case
You should check the cpu temps with some software like ryzen master
.
cant decide... got an old pc with i5 and GTX 750 Ti... add a capture card in this one and use as streaming pc... or put the 750ti as 2nd gpu in main pc and use it there in OBS as encoding device
What cpu do you have in your main pc?
I'd say just put the 750ti in your pc as a secondary just for encoding
swapped the cooler on my i7-7700K and now I'm running 4.8GHz
Air or Water/AiO?
air
nice
stock cooler was thermal throttling at 4.4
stable and without AVX offset?
only core ratio modified
stable enough to complete the short stress test but need to leave it running for longer
OCing is still a thing? π
last time i did it was with an Ahtlon XP back then on Sockel A π
a free way to squeeze more performance after you don't care about the warranty anymore? Of course it's still around
I could argue this is tech based ('whatever technology based')
Like this youtuber I've also noticed alot of these cheap inverter welder units on eBay and similar sites and they've been tempting me as well.
https://youtu.be/--1lSmtuyUg?t=304
"the stinger and ground clamp are wireless" Made me chuckle π
On a whim, bought a cheap ebay welder. Let's see if it'll TIG.
I love This Old Tony, he is really funny π
Anyone had any experience trying to run Windows 7 on an X570 chipset?
Actually nvm my mobo and case only has USB 3.0 and newer no point
It's possible, but it's a pain
I managed to get the Win 7 installer running but once it rebooted since I only have USB 3.0 or newer nothing worked so
Just gonna put it on my laptop since that has a haswell CPU
Iβve seen some people who have a PS/2 port on their motherboard be able to set everything up and load drivers but well I got no hope
But Iβve got 2 10gbps Ethernet ports
Windows XP is where it's at
and 2 10gbps? Jesus I want that board π
don't have a use for them but it makes me feel cool
well π without a fitting 10gbps switch / router π
Let's just say this windows install has existed for 4 years
So I've had different motherboards, virtual networks, etc.
And apparently windows remembers those
Yep, I've reached about 50 connections with my old phone via USB tethering
Oh yeah I forget that is a thing too
It's weird how one port is Ethernet 4 and the other is Ethernet 7 though
Lol i think i have about 400 connections with USB tethering. I finally have LAN though lmao
I think I reinstall windows like twice a year at least π

that's just on my PC, my brother's laptops has to be done at least every 3 months
he keeps breaking it
<--- so unnecessary
I haven't reinstalled windows on any of my current PCs
windows just doesn't slow down over time anymore like it used to
I only reinstall to get a fresh start
Sandbox doesn't always work
besides, it's fun keeping count of how many times you re-install
I've done it at least 4 times on this PC alone, overall I've installed/reinstalled windows over 20 times in my lifetime (ignoring the 6 months working at a company doing nothing but installing windows)
If i include that 6 months, you're looking at over 100, it was painful π
It must be so boring to do nothing but waiting for windows to install on some sort of slow crappy pc...
it was, but we basically had free reign over some of the better PCs while we waited so we comandeered one for playing random web games π
then reset that one so they didn't know π
That's a cheap SSD
But apparently they work
But how to get it shipped to Australia is another story I guess
XD
That's a 240GB SSD for like $2
$10 delivery fee
Still most 240GB SSD's are no where near that cheap like wow!
It says 240GB but it's actually 240MB π
No it's legit
there's gotta be some kind of catch surely
It simply can't be that cheap
like it's a repurposed floppy disk or some stuff
These guys used one

Someone want to buy me a new GPU? https://youtu.be/1_HvBaD3imk
ouchhh
whoaaa
I just found out that you can do a screenshot of a specific region with win+shift+s
@wide temple I remember getting similar artifacting when I pushed my GPU memory clocks too far... tried turning those down?
I only have a +50 memory OC, but I've reset everything to the stock values. Hopefully that will help in the meantime as I guess the silicon has degraded enough that it can't OC as high anymore
I had it with any memory OC at all
I could go well above the normal core clock but any memory OC and it pooped
man I got a 60 Hz Monitor... I want a better one but i dont know which is good for gaming and cheap
In Rust im getting like 80 FPS but I just can play with 60 FPS π
Do you regularly play games where you get like 144 fps?
i honestly dont now why people lock their fps to their monitor hz
To reduce screen tearing
Example, I can hit 80 fps in a game while I have a 60Hz monitor. I get screen tearing all over the place. If I then enable VSync the game looks much smoother at locked 60 then at unlocked
i have no problem with that surprisingly
On the other hand, rocket league at 250fps looks smooth as hell even though I have a 60Hz monitor
It really depends on the game
Basically you want to get as close as possible to the refresh rate of your monitor in terms of FPS, but that's almost impossible without Vsync which adds input lag, which is where adaptive sync comes into play :)
I also find that some games are horrible for screen tearing where as others are not, but I don't notice it so much with Gsync :p
xd
Cassie i dont know
EVGA 1070 FTW
try a +400 Mhz OC on the vram, see if it still has artifacts
@brittle mountain I had to send my card back because of the artifatcs
I hate it that it is impossible to play with multiple monitors connected when they don't have the same resolution in ETS2...
@oak quartz ohhh, cool monitorπ π
27" is a bit too much for 1080p
Depends on preferences
i can count the pixels on my 24" 1080p panel from 1 meter away
You have good eyes lol π π

you can call bs, but i do video rendering, i'm used to noticing very small details
+0.75 prescription actually
@brittle mountain Ohhh, cool, soo, 3D stuff or "actual footage" (I mean recored with a camera)
3D architecture
Yeyyyy, awesome

i use 3 screens, for convenience
@brittle mountain hehe, what renderdo you use??
@brittle mountain mee too, lol, 3x 2.7k
Render**
Cinema 4D all day long, yeet
and Octane for me everytimeπ
Hahahaπ π
@brittle mountain it sucks recently.... as my projects get complexer, my 32GB Ram doesn't do it anymore...
and before you ask why not TR4/X299, i also game
@brittle mountain I had to send my 2080ti back just after 3 months in use

π π
my 1080ti is still going strong
It was something with the memory I guess, at least what I thought, something was getting too hotπ€
@brittle mountain I only bought it because of Octane π
And it was my first PC, I only had a laptop
With a GTX 930m or something π€
welcome to custom air cooling, there's a 1080ti somewhere behind those fans
@brittle mountain Yeah, I thought of it, to take it apart and watercool it, but I'm not sure, because as you know, the warrenty expires then

if a card runs for 6 months, it will run until it burns itself
So you would go for it then? π€ π
if rather strap bigger fans to it than watercool
air cooling will always be more reliable than water cooling
Will look into that! π π thanks man β€
this is what my card used to look like
i have a 3 fan 1080ti
@brittle mountain Ohh, cool, will definitely try it out.
π
my case has 2 fan mounts in front of the gpu
@spiral yew Mine also, but wasn't enough apperently π€
stock fans on video cards have poor static pressure
i heard the 2080ti's were plagued with memory issues
no 90/100mm video card fan will ever outperform a good 120mm fan
@spiral yew Because when I render, the card runs 100% for several hours, about 20 for a small video
sounds like you need a cold room lol
@spiral yew Yeap, that's what I think happend with mine
@spiral yew hahaha, no heating in winter π π
i can sit in shorts in my house in the winter π
air water cooled PCs make the best heaters
And a CPU that runs 5.2Ghz all day long uff π π
i almost fried my 3900X trying to run AVX at 4.5Ghz all core
Yeah, some false voltage adjustnents and it's done π€
I would have to look it up, because as I said, never touched the settings again, because I am hapoy with it
π
Mine sits at around 84 C when doing 100% computations
i get around 90 C on the CPU and 65 on the GPU
keep in mind, it's 12 overlocked cores at full load on air
Truee, hmm... I didn't take the 12 cores in account π€ I have it watercooledπ€
I only have 6π€
Yeyy, i7 8700k
nailed it π
i needed more production "power" so i went high core AMD
Woooow, this is cool when someone knows so much about all these products
I know mine, but that's it
i've been through 10k euros worth on parts in the last 3 years
Woooowwww, shiet

and constantly stay up to date with tech news
I built my PC with around 3k
my current rig is around 4k
@brittle mountain that's rad
I only follow news of 3D things and stuffπ
@brittle mountain how much Ram would you suggest for 3D, I need to upgrade
LTT, TechQuickie, JayzTwoCents, Gamers' Nexus, BitWit etc
i'm only running 32 gigs since it's enough for me
get 128GB
depending on your workflow, you can bump it up to 64 or even 128
I thinking about 64, because I struggle with 32
not sure if the 8700K can handle 128 gigs tho
@brittle mountain my Mainboard can only hold 64 though
then go 64
I would need to upgrade everything fore higher than 64GB π€
are you on 2x16 now or 4x8?
