Do most of you real-life truckers own your own trucks or do you work for a company and use what’s provided? If you had your own truck, what does work look like for you? Do you take jobs that are placed by a company (and are payed for that) or subcontracted? If you were self-employed, how would you find jobs/deliveries? Ping me if you have answers - I’m interested in finding out as much as possible in this field🙂 and no-one I know has experience in the trucking industry..

I think there's a lot more 'owner operators' in the US, but normally you don't find this in Europe

From what I've heard it's basically impossible to make money with only one truck

Yeah, that’s fair. I mean, I’m a 19 year old web-developer at the moment. But I’ve got a strong interest in being out on the road all the time (regardless on whether the hours are long) so I’m just trying to gather as much information as possible- and grasp a good insight on what it would be like. Like I said, I have no family in the industry, so asking here was the next best thing.

ik in usa, you have three different pay types, by load, iirc some companies do my miles, and then i believe there is also hourly

I wouldn't recommend it at all, long hours, waaay too little money to be earned from it compared to the amount of work and time you're expected to spend on it etc etc.

It has its perks yes, but it's a bleeding industry where as the consumer wants cheaper and cheaper goods and freight meaning that truck drivers are some that have to pay the price for that, ever heard of a CEO getting is pay cut down because you want to be able to order cheaper goods online?

Personally i love the Iveco. Very reliable.....normally and service network isn't the worst (isn't the best either)

And i also said that to the other guys in the company. Iveco is a working truck not a truck for comfort. I had to do some weeks at Iveco service and the engines are nearly indestructible. Very good cars but shitty comfort

I’m a technician for Iveco in the UK.
Workshop based
Occasionally I get to go out in the recovery truck.
The 7.5 eurocargo is a dying breed tbh.
Everyone either goes for the 7/7.2 ton Daily van or the 10/12ton eurocargo
The new Eurocargo (renamed T way I think) is due for release next year

The new S-way is fantastic for comfort however they spent sooo much money to improve styling and comfort I’d be surprised if the Tway was t the same

Basically, we lift rear axle to put weight on the drive axel to help on steep and slippery hills

We can. It's fairly easy to make them compliant because they're safer than anything we have and more environmentally friendly.

iirc you can order a custom Volvo FH16 that Volvo will spec for the American market. But you gotta know someone and you gotta be willing to pay a premium.
