A lot of people are killed every single day due to distracted/drunk driving. But far more vehicles are totaled with no deaths at all. I remember seeing a photo of a DOT officer sitting in a car that had run underneath a semi. Dude was fine but maaan was he ashamed of himself. 😂

I'm not gonna sit here and say I don't take pictures while driving, 'cause I do. But I don't have my face glued to the phone while I do it. It's like eating while driving. Cabover: better visibility and maneuverability, less heavy but less aerodynamic and for engine maintenance, well anything in the cab that isn't "glued", you know what's going to happen, and as for safety, there isn't much protection in front of you, despite that they are safer than less modern ones
Long nose: more aerodynamic but heavier, longer wheel base, easier access to engine, generally more safer
So why do the US uses long nose and Europe uses cabovers? Europe is "older" and have narrower streets and roads, and the US is not that "old" and have roads more adapted for modern vehicles

There trucks I see totaled out in yards that were hit in the front always had a deflection factor. The engine has so much mass that it pushed whatever the vehicle impacted with out of the way of the cab.

The problem they've been having is that if the "nose" has a low taper on it, moose and other fuana will rool up onto the hood and through the windshield. But if you are running into a car, then 95% of the time the driver climbs out with nothing but an adrenaline high.

It's very circumstantial which design is safest.

@rugged cape I've watched the videos, some are a little outdated, but the long nose truck showed a test without seatbelt and it's an older truck without airbags. Also modern Volvo trucks are amongst some of the safest trucks, both long nose and cabover

One like this, only this one is new. It has a crane on the back but is fire truck for the rest. It isn't a normal fire truck and is only manned by 2 fire fighters

It carries more specialized hydrolic equipment than a normal fire truck and carriers other equipment which can be used on for example trucks.
