Is the van a rental?
Yeah
Current ones broken
And apparently isnt comming back lmao
Other iveco going out too
We have one left thats the newest but its gonna be replaced too xD
A small review of a 2023 DAF XF 480 lowdeck, i normally drive a 2022 DAF CF 450
Been driving the XF for 2 days now, and this is my honest opinion.
Its a great truck to drive although this is a lowdeck version, so on some roads its a little harsch, the driving comfort is really high, the seat and steering are well thought out, same goes for the adjustability of them, although when you like to situp high, stoplight/signals can be hard to see cause the windscreen is a little low placed, but that gives good visability downwards infront of you.
The screens for the dash and infotaiment need a little time to get used to, but in a few hours they are great and easy to use, almost every safety feature and al the other things are configured via the screens instead of buttons, the only buttons present are the lightswitches, mirror switches, eater controls and the traction control and diff lock,
the sound system is for a simple factory system really good,
The mirrors are nice and big, and give a really nice field of view although they have some blindspots in them, it could be worse
The inside space is a little bit a let down, the storage above the windshield is a little small both in height and depth, a microwave can be fitted in the middle compartment but its a really tight fit, i'm 1.95 meterd long, and i can't stand straight up in the cab, it a little to low for that, the height is about the same as in my CF, where i have a feeling that cab gives a little more space overal than this cab does.
Although the storage places are well thought off, like the 2 huge large bottle holders in front of the fridge unit, same goes for the fridge space, a nice deep and large one, the table from the old XF is also in it and its larger than ever, and nice to use.
The bed is as know from DAF really comfy, although in the XF a little smaller than used from the old XF its more compared to the CF bed.
The headlights give a nice clean beam patern, the highbeams are supper bright and nice to use.
Overal its a nice truck
What country are DAF trucks from?
Netherlands, but DAF is part of the Paccar group
Oh ok. I am used to US trucks but learned to drive in a Freightliner cab over so I really am enjoying playing in ETS2 and doing quick jobs to try out all the trucks. I drove a couple DAF so far and so just trying to see which ones I like the most and learn where they are from.
I've seen engine options in US trucks for Paccar engines.
I drove almost each truck that is in ETS2 in real life too
Peterbilt and Kenworth are both part of the Paccar group too
Wow nice. The European trucks are so much more efficient with space and with engineering than our trucks. Of course, the roads are so much smaller there and you need smaller vehicles.
That is news to me. Makes sense though, eventually one company will make everything it seems.
It was nice though to have a full size bed in my Kenworth T600, can't fit that into most of the Euro cab overs.
Kenworth and Peterbilt been part of Paccar for a loooonnnggggg time, DAF is part of it since 1996
The beds in a cabover here is a normal 1 person size, some are even larger than that
I bought an Iveco 6x4 in ETS to drive some heavy loads. What country makes that brand? I like how the mirrors are and the bright interior of the truck.
Even with that config, the turning radius is like twice as tight as my T600 used to be.
Iveco comes out of Italy
Oh ok figures I guess, they are very stylish like the Italian sports cars. I just upgraded it to have the higher roof and have been driving it all over the place. There is so much to see in Europe, and the engineering of the tunnels is especially cool to see in Sweden and Norway, actually having roundabouts inside a mountain. And driving through the Alps from Innsbruck to Italy, that was amazing.
There are a lot of special places
Something we don't have here are all the ferry boats to get around. I was taking a trip last night from Palermo to the islands off to the left, and then another ferry to get to the top island. I guess what we have here are just long wide open spaces out west, but driving in the east where I did most is pretty busy, especially driving the northeast corridor NYC and the big cities.
I only drive in the Netherlands
One thing I am having a hard time with are the trailers that steer with you to make it easier to get around corners. I am so used to just turning wide that I am going way too far out into traffic. Also, trying to back a trailer as it is steering itself is driving me crazy. I am trained to back a trailer with the wheels staying put. Wish there was a way to turn off trailer steering on jobs in ETS. Oh ok, you stay close to home, nothing wrong with that. I like staying close to where I live now too, mostly day cab work even, no overnight trips.
The trailer steering depends on the type of trailer, about 75% of trailers do have 3 non steering alxes, the other 25% do have steering axles, and they are really usable in city driving, i mostly drive with a 2 axle trailer with steering, so i'm used to it, but i have experience with about every type of trailer, steered and non steered, and even steered non mamdatory, which means going forwards it steers, going backwards it doesnt
I'm home every "night" i do depot work at night
I could get used to it for sure to be able to pull a longer load and have it help get around the corners, but it's new to me. For backing up though, I like the non mandatory one you mentioned, so that it stays straight when I back up. I lost so many XP opportunities because I could not get the trailers to back up to the docks. What we do here is we have movable axles on the trailers, so you can "shorten" the truck by moving the trailer axles forward, or "lengthen" it by moving the wheels all the way back. Depending on the load, you can move it around to make getting in and out of city areas easier, then move them back for over the road comfort. Some trailers have the liftable axles like in game, and there might be steering ones, but I've never seen or used one.
Backing up a steered trailer is even easier than a non steered trailer, my biggest tip is, let the trailer steer it self in place, you only use the truck to correct the steering of the trailer
Ok I will try and practice in the game with the top down view and see if I can figure it out. That's the nice part of the game is that it lets you simulate and practice without having to do it with real diesel fuel and hours on the motor. I have that Scania Truck Sim program from SCS too that I haven't used in a long time, and that is full of practice that is really difficult for me.
99% of the time i'm on interior view, and i'm also driving a combination of a 3 axle box truckz with a dolly and a box trailer in the game, normal truck and trailer became to easy
Like this
Nice. I bought all the heavy equipment and special cargo packs too for a challenge. I built a Kenworth w900 with 8x6 and have a triple low boy trailer to make a total of 50 wheels for pulling the biggest loads in game. If I have to fuel up, I drop the trailer right in the middle of the ramp and let them honk at me until I get hooked up again (I do this in solo only of course, don't really use the TMP server right now).
Nice truck. The front truck is a straight truck, and you are pulling what we would call a hay wagon here. I guess this is similar to our Rocky Mountain Doubles, but a lot shorter.
For ats i use a 110 ton low loader mod
Its a straight truck, with a dolly which turns under the trailer part
Oh ok, the dolly is under the trailer. It sits a lot lower to the ground than our dollies.
It give a little bit of a challenge reversing, but also prettu easy again
Its a solid mounted dolly
Our UPS shipping company drives a lot of doubles that look a lot like that setup.
The front wheels on the second trailer can steer though?
Maybe ETS2 will add these kinds of rigs sometime for us.
Yes, the complete dolly steers, but its permantly mounted to the "trailer" we also have dollies that cam be removed
I always thought the side loading of trailers was so much more efficient than the way we do it here. There are finally some Curtainsider type trailers used here for companies that have the proper loading docks to service them. You can load and unload a lot faster, and get to some pallets much easier than if a long 53' trailer and the pallet you want is all the way up front.
It depends on the type of work
I drove large motor coach buses too a while ago, and some of them had the rear tag axle that steered to help you around corners. You could lift it up too if you had a really tight corner to get around. Prevost is the brand, 45 foot buses.
For normal pallet work a normal box trailer works the best, for other things like special pallets, or other types of goods a curtainside is best
I wonder how much more they will add to the games to put in some realistic kinds of jobs and more rigs to own and drive. I really would like to have some straight trucks in game too that we can drive, especially since they are already built for the AI traffic. The big reason I am not really liking driving in TMP because the AI is not there, and it is like driving on a ghost planet. You need traffic to make it feel real, and not just players.
Having box trucks would be nice, i drive on both, single and TMP, i like the relaxing feel of having no traffic and just be able to cruise with out watching the stupid AI al the time
The AI does some dumb things like passing on the right, which In EU (at least in Germany when I was there) was a big no-no. Last night one sped right into me as I pulled out with a yacht for cargo, and I ended up with cab and trailer and cargo damage right out of the gate. But most times they are predictable, whereas the players are not. I am thinking of trying the convoys mode to see how that is mixing the players with the normal AI. But for now going to pull a yacht from that island off Italy all the way to the north of France. Long ferry ride too.
I gona do some driving too, but then irl
Oh of course, real life driving comes first. Nice chatting with you, have a safe night driving out there.
Thanks was nice chatting, have a good day too
Mornin
Here waiting for this guy to get some speed
Cant load / unload because of him
His coworker already left and this roll has been hanging in my way for the past 20 mins
😂
Yeah last time I checked this was a place for truckers to share their pictures, van drivers can share theirs in #photos

iveco sucks just saying
company i work at has 1 drove it once for 30meters and it sucks
Yes
Theyre all getting yeeted
2 box were at garage and aint returning anymore
Lmao
The last one wich is newest is getting thrown out aswell when replacements arrive
Work has a photo contest going on and since it’s Easter nobody’s working except for me because I had to unload the trailers from the night runs, finished up in good time so I thought why not cheat a little when no one’s in
Fun fact, that Maxxus is the only curtainsider EV on the road
whats going on with the roof of that renault kek
What do you mean?
the trailer of
It’s a double deck trailer
weird
What’s weird about it
its not straight
ah
what do you have to unload
Pallets of all kind
how many pallets go into that kind of trailer?
like if its doubledeck i imagine atleast 50 right?
Depends on size but we have minimum 38 if they’re on regular pallets and not stacked, with a mixture like we normally get of euros and stacked we can get to about 45-50 yeah
Oh it does 130
But it struggles either way
but you got a van right?
Mainly thing that annoys me is the small ass cab uncomfy headrests and the wind noise
I got mine back today
Wich for whatever reason got half emptied by a coworker
So all my stuff got thrown away
Mainly mad about my drinks
One of planners was like “ your gonna drink a month olds drinks?” Like yeah???? Its not water thats left in
Annoying af
They love the Iveco's we got
Will get this one in some time
Just gotta put on the crane and a caisson(great translation)
I don’t really like their interior design.
After 2 days in the 2023 XF, back in my 2022 CF
air suspension is up
Just hooked it up, had to wind up the legs and hook up the cables and hoses
oh you drive for dhl?
Yes
Doubt u drive this
ım not drive
Ok then dont post it here lmao

First triple set for the season.
That’s cute 😊
Nice
I thought about getting my double-triple trailer endorsement
But I got no clue if I’d actually use it
wheels a bit rusty
i am honestly surprised u guys got small 4x2's now
but still no newer cabovers
wich would probably be better in a config like this so u got more cab space
maybe something to do with length?
nice
thats cute, thats what i do every day
What take videos of trucks
seeing other drivers and flash my lights, sometimes for more than 3 km
we love doing that in our friend group
Well i get spottet a few times a day and thay was just one of the times that they got me on vidio
video i cant spell lol
This was from last friday, we sometimes may have to much fun
this may happen about 10 to 15 times a night
It looks cool, communicating with other truck drivers with the high beams
They're just dirty. We had a pretty bad snow storm last week and the truck hasn't yet hit the wash.
We have 6x4s also we just have 4x2 because we like to be special for some reason. They honestly aren't too bad just sucks in snow and ice conditions.
I have to have all my endorsements lmao they're sometimes annoying
This driver was also in a friend group i'm in, we all drive at night time, we share our locations when were driving so we can see if we see each other
nice
i kinda hope i get more truck friends at some point that im driving at the same times as
so i can do that stuff
right now im in my van still and 99% of the time i get no flash back at all xD
Its a group of 30 people, and in 2 weeks we have a night out with karting and going out for dinner with about half the group
that sounds like a nice group to be fair
ive been at my company since ocktober / december
due to some stuff break in between basicly
but i barely now anyone
lmao
Been driving for almost 8 yeats
nice
Why all?
if i didnt have had some issues happen due to others i wouldve been going on for around 5 or 6 years by now
Just for the freight we haul.
Yep
She adds 3k to me so I’d be over weight
Compared to my normal max
I also do that, but not with trucks and not at only night time. When we see each other we just honk at each other and flash our lights. Should be more fun with trucks, as it seems in the video
Really though my average weight loaded is around 90k
Our trucks have triples permits that allows us to go to 110k on triples. That set I showed was at 106 and I was dying on every mountain pass lmao
Ye I’m single trailer
Mountains love to me
Don’t go under 60
😂
Yep the lowest spec 10speed manual with a 410hp engine at 1440 torque, absolutely poo
I’m at 370hp
If it has strobes or beacons its even more fun
But I have a 8LL transmission with 5.57 gears
rip
something like that ud want id presume atleast 700hp
and perhaps even an auto for driver comfort
most trucks even in the netherlands are atleast 500
unless its some truck that just runs city stuff mainly
and barely highway
lol
My first truck was a 360 hp, with 12 speed, we hauled 110.000(50 tons) with it
You will be suprised how many are 400 to 450 ish
They haul alright
What speeds tho
Mph or kmh
90 km/h so 56 mph max
if u plug the right fuses itll go faster xD
That used to be my top speed
ive gone trough very moderate tunnels entering at 110
At 1800rpm
And you got a lot of warnings
Mine did run at 1450 rpm at 90km/h
Fastes going down was 115, but was kinda sketchy tho
Could you get to 1800rpm?
yes
In manual mode yes
also at accelerating i geuss in the right conditions
I came across truckers greeting each other with beacons, fun to watch
My current truck runs at 1125 rpm going 90
that is bought new
not many that still have a actual manual on offer
scania has them in the s series i believe as a option
or it was the r
wichever was the smaller version
I can’t drive auto. Every last one of them I fight going up and down hills
when im going for my license im gonna make sure i get manual endorsement basicly
incase i ever get my own truck for privateu se
Most are auto these days, but driven a few manuals, most auto boxes have a manual option to shift with the shift lever/retarder lever
I'm used to auto's but i prefer a manual tho
Ye
The max hp we have in our company is 480, but most are 450 and 460, a fee years ago it was pretty normal for us to run 410 and 420 hp, and we do a lot of Germany and France
What’s the wheel base on your truck
Also what’s the trailer length
I don’t know what’s normal. I’m across the country
The picture is normal chassis over here
Gotcha
That’s 149.6”
I’ll trade you
I wana drive a truck that length
😂
Make some nice sharp turns
City works is easy with it
Mines 7m
I bet
Mines a complete pain in ass to maneuver
Mine isn't
What’s your trailer length
We also have steering axles on the trailers
You might have a better trailer to
13.6 meters
Mines 12.2
Total length about 16.5 meters
18.5 for my total length
This is shitty 😂
You got a better truck with a turning trailer
The only thing i do is depot work
What’s that
Drive from one depot, to another, drop the trailer pick up a new one, and then drive to another on, drop and hook, take my 45 minute break, and drive back to the first
I only load at the start of my shift and partly unload at the end
Gotcha
Doing about 530 km a night
Nice
I can get usually about 800-900km a day
I don’t drive at nights
I’ll start right when sun comes up and stop right before it goes down
From next week on i do about 600 a day, got a extra stop then
Nice
Have you thought about hauling rocks and stuff?
Like dump trucks Or end dumps or belly
Not really
Night work also pays really good
Yeah nothing like the road trains you Aussies haul 😂 it's actually a dream of mine to drive one of those some day.
euros don’t have belly dumps i think kekw
Could be better eh but there was a 25% sale so we took it
Nice deal
yeah gonna be finally nice to not have a 95' and 06' truck lol
We have belly dumps, but those are tank trailer
Side tippers?
Rear
XD
Are also used here
3 meter charging cable ftw
I shouldnt have to
it should be where the head is by logic
Scania have basically done a similar thing with the Next Gens, they've put the tv mountings on the left side ergo you'd have to sleep with your head on the right side, but they've left the control panel and remote thingy on the left side too
so, im not a real life trucker myself but im seriously considering it in the future, thats actually sick to hear though that the possibility is there from the manufacturer themselves
are there more things that brands do these days which are super helpful like that? or very driver oriented?
Kiwi trucker here. I used to operate this rig. This is what NZ livestock trucks look like, we only run truck and trailer units for livestock, not semis or B-trains
Any specific reason for that?
And quite curious to why a lot of New Zealand trucks have 4 axle configs like with 2 in the front 2 in the back
8x4 for those heavy 🐄s
probably more stable for the usage of livestock
- the bit better manouvrability maybe in citys
Wrong
Someome had to much time
lmao
Oh hell nah spungbab on them ketamins
Typical DAF drivers 😅
No, just the special type that has to much time on hand
most of them carry their whole family in the back
yours?
Pfft that engine sound is just beautiful

Unless you hear it 10hrs a day
And your ear is 3’ from it
😂
Sounds good to others. Not to the driver

I geuss thats one of the downsides of us trucks
That they basicly all got stacks
Here in europe when people add stacks they have a valve so they can switch it to the lower exhausts
Better for the ears
Mine stays loud and proud
Jakes are 10x louder
Gota roll all the windows up and closed before the jakes 😂
You can get factory stacks in europe too with mufflers inside them
Didnt know that
Oh well yeah
But i feel like those dont count
Seeing thats only on tippers etc
That it has stacks
New baby nearly finished, only looking for a driver now, 2023 389, @quick oriole, what do you think

Nice
Nice
We lost an other driver this week, only got the w9 running now
Wjy can't people more carefull with the truck from someone else.
Wheelcover missing, grease all over and in the cables and hoses, even in the pins, grease all over the chassis cover while i cleaned everything yesterday, and a unknows substance over the sideskirts leaving stains
Also in the 8 months i have this truck now i never had my cables and hoses mixed together, had to spend almost 10 minutes getting them sorted again
I can't the truck drives 2 shifts a day
ah
complain
tell ur boss u keep it nice
and whoever used it destroyed it / stuff
The normal day driver is sick, so other people drive his shift, the guy who drove today parked my truck in the yard to use his own, which is fine, only someone else decided it was a good idea to use my truck instead of the truck assigned to him for today, and he caused the damage and did not say anything
They already know, they got a nice collection of pictures and a phone call from me
If i know who it is he is getting a call from me too
steal his fender xD
I sent a message to our workshop, they have spares laying around, so can get a new one without problems, but its more in the way of how people do it i don't care if people use my truck, aslong as they keep it clean and in good condition, and if something happens that they just tell the dispatch or me directly, so it can be fixed without problems, vut sadly enough there are people who drive the truck from someone else are like, its not mine, so i don't care
My normal buddy on my truck is a blast to work with, we work together for 6 years already, never have problems, we both take care of the truck, keep it clean, damage free, and if there is something special we call each other as soon as we can
thats nice
But he is sick, and will be be sick for a few more weeks if not months
oof that sucks
Yea, we hoping he gets well soon
Yellow foglights ✅
U drive dis?
only this and the next week. I took it to the service on tuesday and then worked with it
@magic girder keep tour truck at home
I can't
I recommend not worrying much if it is a company vehicle and you dont own just worry about it
In the end the company is the one who will get in trouble
Its a company vehicle, but i'm proud of my vehicles and treath it as my own
I understand but i am saying you are not gonna get in trouble for the condition
The other drivers will
I know, but its frustrating other cause damage to the truck i alwasy drive
i would also very much complain
plenty of truckers put their own money into the truck to make it more theirs
if someone then destroys it and treats it like trash
id be mad aswell
I do the same, spend money on the interior and exterior to make it more my own
🤩
u gettin a new truck?
I need one of those tow plates😂. Mine had to get pushed by a dozer yesterday
Yes
right is better
you don't get the headache of delivering heavy with the left one cuz its probably the bigger version right?
you got ur license yet?
Working on
ahh
well we got 2 sizes of iveco daily thats why I was askin lol
How’s y’all logistics days going?
Mines gone down the shitter
Picked up this machining station and had it double strapped, had to emergency brake because some dopey halfwit pulled out on me and it fell despite the strapping, it’s punctured the floor and it’s way too heavy for me to deal with on my own
perfectly secured.
ngl skill issue. Everyone knows you either put it against the front wall or make a second wall to prevent this
I wasn’t loading it and it couldn’t go in the side anyway
One of the straps snapped anyway which is what I assume is what gave way
Thats what insurance is for
Also i see more bungee cords
Then adequate straps
Tbf
Not a issue for me tho
I dont strap anything down

Looks like cheap and simple straps, i would invest in some bigger and stronger ones.
Once its in your vehicle, you are responsable for it, even if you did not load it your self
Not my straps 🤷🏼♂️ but the pictures don’t do it justice, the blue one is brand new, the orange one has been used twice
Should handle a 3 tonne load in total and the unit weighs about 300/400kg
I can assure you I didn’t use a single bungee cord 😂
That blue looks like some form kf bungee cord
Not a proper strap
Also something that high u cant just secure from the bottom witb 2 straps xD
Needs a good few since u cant secure it on the top
Than its also the straped wrong, if its only a 400 kg object and you have a 3000 ton strap, than the strap was cut on the object to snap, also probably the wrong way of strapping it, the higher the load, the further the straps need to be positioned away from the load to do thier job correctly
You mean how he's liking a next to top specced brand new truck compared to his old shabby specced truck?
Best trucks for the best drivers
I definitely miss my old Volvo, the 404, as it holds a special place in my heart, we had over 200k km together. However, when it comes to specifications and performance, my new Volvo is a huge step up and it's really not comparable. Unfortunately, I've had some bad luck with the new one – I experienced a windshield shattering and a power steering pump malfunction. Despite these issues, I still appreciate the improvements and features of the new truck.
You know @formal minnow . It like leaving your old ugly wife for a young beautiful woman, while she looks better and does make you happy, you worry more about hurting her than the old one, as a small scar is much more noticeable. Same applies with trucks
Ye
I just got a new van so i know the feeling xD
It has massive improvements imo but liked the older more even tho specced less
Purely because it had like 1 or 2 things this mercedes doesnt have
But more cab space so can actually tilt seat super comfy chairs so thats a
Hope for you it only stays to those problems for you
#real-life-vandriving
😂
Hows the other torpedo comin along
Done!! With its lowloader
This is it. After my break I'll take a pic with the trailer
Nice
You guys finished the daf xf yet?
Or was it a xg whatever smth next gen
I feel like that roofbar is too modern xD
Yep I know it is, and full led lightbar aswell as led taillights
Tail is ok
But on the front it just doesnt fit imo
Why not something old school with halogen or smth

Nope indeed, we all wanted a light board thing on the roof. But boss wanted that
Exactly
But that has got a sticker on it that ruines the truck
And we have got a few little XD's now aswell
One tractor unit and a few rigids
For belgium
This is gonna be a long long day for me
On my way to the scania dealer….
We got a hybrid scania and the electric motor has some errors/malfunctions in it…
We have almost to no power

Are here any 2020+ MAN drivers?
@formal minnow
Typical
One year apart, old vs new
Nice
Kolleka
i would delete that, the mods here are very strict and will ban you for posting videos of you driving
A truck at the scania dealer
Truck is that broken that we have to get a second truck to unload and load the other truck…
Truck has to stay at the dealer
Oh yes
ive seen that one before
its usually aimed towards the highway
at the water side
I can confirm
Typical Scania
I’m starting to question the amount of times you’ve hit your head in your lowroof Volvo now

Yes agree
Scania best
None
Yeah that’s what you think, clearly delusional now so must have been a lot of times
I don't live in the truck. I'm only on the driver seat when at work

Yup. We got a single Scania at my work. It's driven the least yet it has the most problems
Same, all the scanias here have much more trouble than the volvos
Also Volvo looks better
How many days did your new Volvo last before you needed to head to the workshop?
Swift in its natural habitat
Down I-35 going south
It was just a little misty out. Don’t know how he managed that
Longer than the scanias
Wanna see @patent bolts wet daydream?
That’s one big fat lie, the first vital thing that broke on mine was this winter when mine was 1 and a half year old, you didn’t even make it 1 week without having 2 rather vital things on your truck go kaputt
Nope, we got 4 new ones, problems upon problems
Ye
Noxiis wettest daydream
You lasted daaaays
And you have problems with every truck brand cuz you Wiiks kolekas clearly break everything you touch
We have little problems that's why many of our trucks have made it past a million 😁
Small issue
I drove my old truck for over 200k with basically no problem
Can't do that in a scania
Done more problem free km in a Scania than in a Volvo
Done more km in a scania then
Did enough km in one, and also a lot in a volvo, almost 800k in 4 years, but also 800k worth of problems, truck was 3 days old and already in the workshop, the truck was down about 1 to 2 times a month, and some months even more, had 3 months in a row that the truck was in the worksshop each day
No.
Yes
Drove this one for almost 4 years, got it new
This pic was taken on the day i emptied it, glad i'm out of it
Gotta take it to service
Been there enough times with a volvo
The scania that broke today at work is the first ever scania hybrid that got used by a company
Its the test model
So yes offcourse it will break a few times
The newer scania hybrid models are much and much better
We are just testing everything out and helping scania improve
@rugged cape I think our boss would argue with you on that since he quite literally told Volvo to go somewhere where the sun don’t shine with our 3 Volvo FH540 that we had when i started here in 2015 and replaced them with Scania R580 Streamlines instead after a year when we were supposed to have them for 3 years
Since that day we have gradually expanded our Scania fleet and gradually replacing the Volvo fleet up here, our 25m combos used to be 50/50 now there’s only 1 Volvo there the rest is Scania R650/660
Your boss told Volvo to go to Norway. Ight
We have midnight sun here so yeah think you be wrong about that
We're in middle of replacing our old FH3s with FH4s or FH5s or both
Some of our old FH3's outlived the FH4's we had, normala truck would do 1.5 million atleast in the company, those FH4's lasted only 8 to 900k before they went out, and the FH3 that they bought 3 years earliers did 1.8 million and was in the company for 3 years more than the FH4'S where
Yeah we renew our fleet often, between every 2-4 years depending on the trucks routes. Our Volvos only lasted a year cuz they broke down too much so our boss got tired of it and replaced them with Scania cuz they were more reliable
Like we legit had to call our customer at least once a week to tell them we’d be late due to issues with the trucks
Sounds like you haven't taken a good care of those trucks. We got FH4s with 1.3 million KMs still running great and that is KM only visible in the odometer.
I hope you not saying that to me Nat
Normally a truck lasted in the company i work for about 7 to 10 years, 1.5 million km at a minimum bedore they even thought of replacing them, the FH4' had a lot of problems,.so they got rid of them after only 4 ish years
Nope. Norway is way harsher than Netherlands
Yeah and I mean when the trucks barely have clocked over 100k km it shouldn’t be necessary to do much, like just stick to the service schedule and all that
But we had major issues with the webasto in them and also power issues like they would drain the batteries in less than 9 hours which meant that we couldn’t even sleep in them a night without having issues
We service our trucks every month and repair them when necessary. My Volvo has almost 740k km and is running with no issues.
My FM was towed twice in the first year, and seen the inside of the shop atleast twice a month
We service ours in accordance with what the truck manufacturer requires
Our trucks get serviced each 75k, or when required by manufacturer
My old R500 was towed 5 times in the first month when I got it. 4 times due to gearbox and 1 time due to adblue failure
Mine got towed for a broke fuelline, and a broken oil pump
Knock on wood, I’ve never been towed
Been towed twice, and both times with the same truck
Correction been towed 3 times, but that time it was the worst place of all, 100 meters from the yard
I'm reallg happy with my DAF, got 112k on it, and been only to the workshop for a oil change, and last week i had a ABS failure but that was just the cable between the truck and trailer
Yea, but my horn stopped working when it was -1 and all the things like lane detection, automatic braking etc just would shut off, cause there was the tiniest layer of ice forming, even when it rained the systems just stoped working
@patent bolt your favorite country song
Thats some good music
Noxii
Yes @patent bolt and @upper copper thats just good music, some good country music makes the day
Good country does yes but that’s not good country
That’s “burn it before it lays eggs”
Na, its good music
As Noxii says, there are country out there, that should never have been made, and then there's the good ones, just never been a big fan of that one right there
Whiskey Lullaby is good country 🤌🏼
I really need some subs on my Volvo

Tony Justice, Last of the Cowboys
Never heard of, will check it tomorrow when I’m back to driving
One of the best driving songs
Also Brothers of the highway, 18 years to life, we drive trucks, long distanve love
Tomorrow's shift is still a Spotify shift, Friday is a Retroradio shift and after that ends, it's back to Spotify
Everyday is youtube day
I only use YouTube music for bootlegs that aren't on Spotify
Needs more bass
I'll upgrade the front speakers and add amp for them and add a subwoofer under the bed
Probably going with ground zero
I might add 2 speakers on the rear of the cab or a large speaker on the top bed
Time to hit the road again
Armrest was kinda nasty from all the dirt and oil. Took me one minute to clean it with Cartec Interior spray.
How did it ever get so dirty
I'm cleaning my cab everyday and wash it about twice a week
And now the summer times comes, and the bugs are getting out i will wash it everyday
Multiple drivers, dirty enviroment, resting arm on the arm rest while wearing a jacket, etc etc
I try to keep the trucks interior as clean as possible, most other drivers don't do that really. But even I don't have unlimited time available so it's not going to be spotless but I try to clean it as often as possible
This is how the floor looked after my shift ended. We'll see how it'll look later today when my shift starts
I just can't understand how people can work with a truck when its a mess and dirty
For them, it's a job. They get paid to drive, not clean
Well, there is a rule in my truck, if you drive with it, you keep it clean, period, if not you can come back and clean it, that also did cost another driver his ability to get his own truck for another 3 months after driving on my truck for a week
But they still have to respect the truck, and the driver thats normaly driving on it
25 workers, 15 trucks, which only 12 are in active use, so there will be multiple drivers on almost every truck. Not everyone has that mind, and nobody can force it for them
Its a company policy, if you get to drive on the truck from someone else, you have to respect thier truck and the driver by keeping it clean and leave it how the driver wants it, if the normal driver is a non smoker, and the truck is not smoked in, you as a driver are not allowed to smoke in that truck, if you do, the normal driver can order it to be cleaned on the cost of the smoker.
Also cause we habe drivers that are in thier trucks 6 days a week sometimes
We have around 150 ish trucks, a good 180 to 190 drivers, and a total of 280 employees
About 120 of the trucks have a set driver on them, about 5 have 2 set drivers like mine is, and then there are about 25 trucks that are used how and when needed and don't have set drivers
And yes the 280 employees is acurate, we have a 15 man dispatch, 3 fulltime and 3 part time mechanics, full truckwash, 6 warehouses all staffed with full time employees
We even have a office and warehouse in Poland
We don't have own trucks really. We got trucks for said shifts and a assigned driver for that shift, and that can change daily or weekly. Some drivers have always certain shift like I do so I drive one truck.
Most of the drivers that have thier own trucks drive international or benelux
We only have one truck that is assigned for a single driver. That driver is pretty much a jack of all trades and does usually direct jobs
We do about all types of work in the company, i'm dedicated to DHL, but we do from small city distribution and food delivery to bars etc, to local work, to national work, to international work all over europe, doing coolers, dryvam, curtainsiders, flatbed
Gotta take care of it
Closed area
Smokers shouldnt be allowed in non smokers vehicles
As itll just reek of it for days
I got a new van now so imma try keep it as clean as possible
Plastic floormats tho so just knock the dirt of and powerwash
They just can't smoke in a truck, if they do, they can pay for it, and thats about 500 euro
I took care of my volvo, but it was just a piece of junk, since oktober 2022 i have my DAF, the volvo is still driving in the company since its a lease truck, and the contract ends later this year, but its so unrealiable, that they now only allow it to drive during day time when out mechanics are present
😂😂
Which song?
Lay low, tiesto
Thank you
Nice looking truck
Weighing a little chunky
The end of the week...😭😭😭
Broke down hah?
Also very nice scania tow truck that is
U dont see many modern towtrucks anymore with a crane on them
As in a “proper” crane like that one has
Thats a proper towtruck
yes
Had a thunderstorm here last evening, and is now foggy as can be
Modern? that’s a 142 Scania… not exactly modern
If ud read properly
Im saying that u dint see modern anymore with cranes such as that
I never called that one modern
Oooof yeah that’s no fun 😬

Shit happens
damn
Nice
Hybrid
Pov: Driving MAN be like:
Imagine driving a Volvo
Rookie numbers
As I told the other nub van driver too that doesn’t count as unlike you I’m actually the one who put km on mine since it was brand new

heey
on my current van im putting all miles on
its rarely used by others and if so its for maybe 100kms
Wasn’t talking about you
You drive a smaller truck than I do, shouldn't you be considered a van driver more?
well u called me a van nub too so
Actually my truck isn’t smaller cuz I actually have a higher roof than you so it’s bigger
😝
The other van nub
I'm talking about the length
Also didn’t call you a van driver either, it’s @tawny moth that is a van driver

big van

Mines at just 116, 75% is done by me, rest done by another driver, my previous truck had 800k, 75% was done by me, if everything goes as it shoould, it will be at 1.000.000 in just 5 years
Since 22 september 2022 we have put on 107k, truck is from juni 22, but did not much in the first months
Looks fine to me
Is that to keep the jack from leaking down by itself?
nono i think his jack split in half
the part on the floor isnt connected it seems?
Probably the jack is broken, this is a metal block to keep it up
Dude the bottom piece is construction equipment
You can clearly see that the real leg is still almost fully retracted
Yep jack is broken
well finnish IS a weird langauge..
First time hauling one of these lift trailers
is it like a double decker?
Waiting for the load

Yup. Two deck trailer
Had a massive load to Tampere
You can carry more cargo. Not every pallet is stackable.
listen
anything is stackable
if u dont care enough
If I'd be a van driver, I wouldn't care. I'm not a van driver tho
nothing is stackable in my van
Wow must be nice for you that your picture that I take it you "just took" was used in a news article in 2021
https://www.nexotrans.com/fotos/1/primafrio-volvo-9-10-1.jpg

the terrible quality alone gave it away already tbf
And also, its night time, and he places a day time picture🤔🤔🤔🫣🫣🫣
Weekend work😢

Who even buys a new Merc with stickshift
My boss
I wanted automatic but they wanted ivecos gone asap
So bought out if their inventory 🙄
John, can you please use #photos for this one? This is only to share your own Truck pictures
Ahh okay
Have a question I'm hoping one of you lads can answer. Noticed some weird behaviour in ETS2 where the brakes don't full disengage immediately after releasing the pedal. For example, to decelerate from 100-80 I need only hold the brake down until 90 and the truck will still continue to decelerate down to 80 despite pedal being released. Is this nromal behaviour for these prime movers? Is that just a quirk to the way air brakes work or is this a bug in ETS2?
Pretty sure thats how it works
If u drive a car let go off cruise control / speed and brake a bit
Itll keep slowing down slowly trucks etc are the same
It needs throttle input to keep moving
idk what sorta car you're driving but my car doesnt work like that. If I release the brakes the vehicle will at most coast to a stop. It won't declerate at the same rate it was while the brake pedal was pushed.
The delay in ETS2 is so exaggerated though that its almost impossible to modulate the brakes in the same way I would in a car.
In the example I mentioned above: it was a full five seconds before the brakes seemed to disengage and coasting began
I cant help but feel like there's no way a vehicle with GVM of 20+ tonnes would behave this way in real life
Do you use a steeringwheel?
yea wheel and pedals
Could be that your brake pedal is a little stuck, if i release my brake pedal it stops braking, you could try to set a small deathzone in the settings
yeah nah I double checked all that through the logitech software. Confirmed that what I physically do with the pedal is indeed reflected in the software (it has visual aid to show the input being received).
And this behaviour is only noticeable in ETS2 which is why I thought maybe it was just how these trucks are
I'm thinking it's maybe just a poor brake model in the sim because the other thing I noticed too is the braking curve is totally out of wack - in that you apply a small amount of pedal and the brake seems to be 80-90% engaged.
In the settings there is also a option for brake strenght, you can lower that
You mean Braking Intensity? That setting isn't really relevant here. That setting only affects the maximum braking performance. The issue still remains that 80-90% of the usable braking ability is being engaged at the teeniest touch of the pedal
So I did some seraching and looked in the darkest and dustiest parts of the scs forums and it turns out there's a config option in controls.sii that lets you modify the braking function and introduce a curve. Little bit of tweaking in there and now its pretty much perfect 😎
Now I can actually opt between "a little bit of braking" and "oh shit some idiot just pulled out in front"
wow, stops on an absolute dime too if you stomp the brake as hard as possible. Reminds me of those Volvo Emergency Braking System showcase videos
Also
Glad I don't live up north
I mean midnight sun in the summer makes it kinda worth it
Discussion ended mate. And what about #photos? Didn’t send any pics.
Oh, also another question for you blokes in here: is it entirely legal to haul B-Double pup trailer on its own? I guess it’d look a little weird but if the load is destined for somewhere else down the road..?
I can't see why it would be illegal, it shouldn't matter if you only haul 1 single trailer or both trailers, both are registered, insured, and do follow all the regulations to be on the road, and each part of the combination can be used hoe you please
Do you drive that?
Yeah sadly
That sucks
We finally have whole week of + 16
Very kice
But everything sticks together now
Snowing now again, like it comes and goes in waves I hate it
That sucks
Doesn't make sense why it wouldn't be, here i am pulling one to deliver to a remote factory. Left my trailer at a truck stop, our b-links work with a slider, so the box slides on top of the trailer from one end to another depending on if you need to attach another trailer to the back or deliver something from the back so you can reverse to a dock.
Beautiful weather
Clean
One of the best feelings a clean truck
Indeed
Tuned my radio
Almost 1.0 for all channels
In australia it's legal - can't speak for anywhere else but it basically just becomes a small regular trailer
Same as how you can usually have a dolly on the back of a regular trailer without much issue, depending on where you are
(I'm assuming you're also an aussie given Auswide Transport lmao)
Yeah fair enough, I didnt really see any reason why it wouldnt be allowed but I just noticed I've never actually seen someone hauling a broken apart/b-trailer only
Yeah it's pretty rare
Most b-double operators tend to load on the assumption that they're going to the same place, especially for linehaul freight
road trains break up much more frequently; hence road train assembly yards exist
That would make sense since I believe most of the interstate blokes here do change-overs where they just drop the trailer 30-40km out of the city and someone else comes picks it up

Its aids
Its not restackable
And my planners are useless
This something that just had a bag put over like 🙄
Last time I checked it’s the drivers job to secure their load properly
should have strapped it down
Easy customers like this, had to swap trailers, but there are 2 empty trailers, so going back with the trailer i came with
I cant in my van
Also didnt help the pallet had no securement at al
I can see a lot of place you could strap it down
Its sounds crazy, but you don't need to strap it down hard, even 2 strings of rope around it seccured to the front and side wall would have prevented it from tipping over
That also can be prevented with the same rope
i aint got none anyways
company wont give
so
Rope doesn't cost that much
i aint going to spend my own money
hi everyone. i'm 20 years old and now i am following the steps to get the license to drive trucks. i wanna ask you guys, how old you were when you started? also sorry for my english
I did spent a few euro on rope when i drove in a van, was worth it for me, saved me a lot of problems
I was 18
woaahhh
and now how old are you?
Oh 22 i see
How was the trucking for first time? Dis you had emotions?
Kinda exciting but at the same time little bit scary
I started when i was 18, was driving C(boxtrucks) before my 19th birthday, and a few month latee i had everything, and now its 8 years laterz and i still love it
My dad’s a truck driver for like 20 years
I see how much he likes it and i love to drive aswell so i hope i will love it too
For all of the EU/AS PPL how are the load rates for you guys
Not my own pic, but man, this is what you call a heavy boy, 5 axles, 500 hp v8
We have these here 😂
yeah but arent those mainly used for the oil fields
No it’s mainly used by rednecks that haul heavy shit😂
Oil field trucks are the crappy cheap ones cause they get torn to hell
trailer on trailer?
And a jetski on the trailer!
Just wait till you see a trailer on trailer on a trailer hauling a trailer
lmao
I would embed it but it's not my picture so I'd guess this is the wrong channel to do so
Yea pretty much
Truck driving lessonn
This is how i always offload pallets of bricks with only plastic around it
And thats fine asswell
How did it go?
You can drive such a big truck at only 22 years old dammmm
You need to be like 5 years a driver in holland to even get your lzv thingy
i don’t think your right, i have a dutch friend that did his C+E at 20 (maybe even 19 i don’t know exactly but definitely younger than 22)
Yea but lzv is extra length
So that he is correct on i believe
Yes lzv is 5 years experience
In that u need a few years
Its basicly a rigid with a full length
Combi is just ce
Like nat drives
U probs got multiple next to each other
in most of europe you only need C+E to drive the ‘LZV’ as you call them
And is CE + 5 years exam
And it isnt stacked 2 meters high with no securement on pallet lol
Where u driving today rowan
I got no food so i need some free mcd
Or u aint workin today
Rowan haven’t you been having lessons forever now? like when are you going to let you take ur test?
He works at same time tho
Depends on company some will let u do one lesson a week others just let u go for 5 days in a row
Sometimes
I got 2 american fridges in my van now
1 time i had a pallet fall over
Yikes
I havent had one fal over at all lately
Well this one
But was unavoidable unfortunately
Were ya offloading at?
No clue
A transport company?
Geussing a residential area
As noted small van on the paper so
Imma drive real quick tho so brba
I don’t work Mondays
Oo did not know that
Oh
Well i got subways
More exspensive but healthier
Started working 4 weeks ago still doesn't have an assign truck so I've been with the old gal for a bit
First two week had an FH4 but it had a faulty steering assist pump so pulling up to dock was really annoying
Better then what i get when I start
I get some bad old mercedes
That is already broken and nothing works
Yeah I got lucky the company im in try to renew its park when they can they ordered new iveco and volvos
Iveco ewww
The hyundai might be a bit overloaded with that trailer
||/s||
Lmao
Nah its mine just when I put stuff in my truck for the week
Yeah luckly since I just started ima get fh4 of the old peeps
same company does mcdonald’s in Spain cuz i saw one of your trucks unloading at the mcdonald’s near me at like 5am
Yes havi is world wide
Active is like 92 countries
is it a company of macdonalds?
Nope
But we have contracts that havi is exclusive for McDonald’s
We prioritise McDonald’s
Depends on country tho, I haven't seen any Havi here
But then again we don't even have McDonalds here
19.3 average, not to bad
Ofc u aint see it then
We do have mcdonalds but I’ve never seen “havi” unless they use a different name here
I know they’re in Sweden tho, or Stockholm that is cuz I’ve delivered to them once
Never driven a trailer
But did it in 2min and 20sec
1 first attempt i focused on the wrong line on the ground
Second attempt i steered in to late
3rd attempt was just me being pepega
4th attempt perfect
Ets2 helps
Also isnt it easier to lock the steer axle when backing up? Or is it not possible on that trailer @lucid birch
Nice
Its a steerable trailer
And we only drive with steerable trailers
So no point of locking it
For the admins
legit question coming from a non truck driver (but looking into switching to truck driving maybe this or next year...)
whats that "hissing" noise? at first i thought its the brakes air pressure, but i doubt youre braking every second in that rythm? 😄
its just the sound of driving backwards
to make people aware your reversing.
or do you mean the sound that starts at 16sec?
@lilac pumice 😄
oh lol. i only know that reverse alert in form of beeping 😄
thats what made me confused, i only know either no sound, or the usual beeping when reversing 😄
i do like the bright white light and the orange strobes though, if someone still manages to be behind the trailer and absolutely not know whats coming i feel like theres nothing more anyone can do anyways 😄
we drive for mcdonalds so we go on really small terains
would be cool if ets2 would introduce features like that, add strobes on the trailer and set them up to enable and disable with the reverse gear
ahh i kind of figured, here in germany i only see these 2 axle trailers which steer if its a fast food place or a grocery store in the city etc.
am i right in assuming that the allowed weight in those trailers is lower than the "usual" 3 axle with lift? i think i heard something about that years ago
We can cary as much as a 3 axle trailer
i meant as in weight limits with the 2 axle trailer compared to a 3 axle
i dont doubt that your truck can haul a 3 axle 😄
as in, you can only load lets say, 10 tons into the 2 axle for example as maximum weight limit
i thinks it the same as a 3 axle
but not sure we never check the weight of our loads
because we never reach the maximum
its just mcdonalds or kfc food
