im cool with a more frail Dart that does the hybrid role better tbh
A Magic Hat, Dancers Shoes and a Mage ring and she will pump out the damage and keep everyone healthy non stop. I think she pairs very well with Albert reducing the need for healing anyway. She also fits the roll of being simple. Easy to use and get what you need out of her.
He certainly is the tankiest. Everyone has a weakness to exploit... he just sorta has a HP bar

i found the animation frame code and if you pressed it during certain frames she'll fire another arrow.

Soo Magic Greaves and an Angels robe means less than 1 in 5 will even hit Shana/Meru and if it does there is a chance it wont even kill...

80% evasion on the One Ring couples with an Angel Robe at 40% rez means only a 12% chance of death per hit. Throw on Dancer shoes means less hits between turns and...

and in hell mode you couldn't remove dart so i just guessed you had a high level dart and the old burn stacks did more i think.
emulatorified meaning 2x DF/MDF because breaking the 65535 cap for normal bosses was uh HMM at best.

Took one for the team checking to make sure the game over screen works
i beat windigo at 64000 HP but uh i had to use four specials which is not normal at least for me.
so taking in 2x defense into consideration
old windigo had 80000 effective HP
taking new enrage shield changes it had 98000 HP
so i nerfed it to 61250 effective HP
i do some nerfs sometimes 🙂
but now it is back to the script mines 
i don't know why they made windigo have 4k HP more than Lloyd on top of the additional snow cannons HP that you have to beat basically.

Idea for an item: thorn items that when hit reflects some damage back to the attacker, perfect for blocking and healing
I can see it being useful for an ultra low level game against pure physical bosses like Fruegel or Jiango, but it would probably fall off in dmg next disks or else the gameplay would be too braindead i assume xD

No but they're working on having it ready for Recommended Build 3, rather than constantly updating for the devbuild (which is being updated every day, working towards RB3)
I'm working on removing every dramod hotkey by doing a QoL update to SC RB3.
I've been doing the same thing. I'm much too curious about hardmode to wait but ill likely play it again once RB3 is out.

When you start chapter 4 you can go back to the forbidden land and fight harder versions of the boss fights. In the readme that comes with dramod should explain what map is for what "zone" you should be on.

Yes, you lose D.exp after each boss to not get D.lvl 5 too soon

Revamped Ultimate Boss (in progress) with monster script and pattern changes as well as different elemental bosses. Buy your Ultimate equips from the Black Castle Researchers (completed).
New items/equips (finished all but Shana's arrows 😉 😉 😉 )!
In game DraMod UI (have not started, will steal from Icarus in due time) and new content notification system.
Hell Mode and Hell Mode+ merged into one added and rebalanced for SC (completed up to last three bosses). Speaking of deleveling Dragoons in the old Hell Mode, this is now removed in new Hell Mode.
All characters in Hard/Hell Mode now how their own unique gimmick (some are still in progress as they need the menu icon change system that I am working on at the moment. same thing as dragoon guarding which is available at Dragoon level 6).

i gotcha, its just not what DraMods trying to do. At the moment for retextures its just my project, and the blue Dart edit by grey mad he made to showcase his uncapped party project. Maybe one other retexture out there that I forget? Not a lot of stuff done on that front for some reason
Hmm dramod let's you create your own custom settings. I have yet to add in a element swap for the characters but that does not sound hard to do.
You can for sure swap elements of the Dragoon spells currently.
I think they also want the design to change with the element though
Didn't know if it was possible or not to just recolor Darts Dragoon Armor to look more Ice Like.
it is, but its more of a process than people seem to think. Gotta go in the files and manually replace the palette with the individual colors, and each one is only a certain portion. Some colors arent even on the texture either and instead are part of the model.
So for example you can replace over 20+ colors on hachels first palette for example, and all youve changed is the shirt and ribbons on his glove. Then you gotta change the pants, belt, headbands, boots, gloves themselves, etc etc. and then once thats done you gotta go into the model hex code and find/replace the purple square around his belt to a hex code of your choice....and then you do it all again for dragoon mode, then go to THOSE hex numbers and copy them to things like transformation scenes or magic sequences....like i said, people underestimate it.

Which version? If it's through the game emulator dragoon mod, it goes like Shana is S tier cause of her healing spells, and Kongol is like A because of his power boost in dragoon but defense down, you can just detransform to avoid the penalty
If severed chains beta, everyone seems well-rounded, you just gotta make sure to use elemental weapons and right characters by element or type of enemy attacks

For clarity, both have that name! But it sounds like you're using the emulator version.

I don't think so. Dragoon Modifier was originally released on emulator, and later got an updated version for SC 2.1 (although it's really old as well now). Do whatever you like till it gets an update for upcoming SC 3.0

@severe dust I finished my 3.5.5 run a few months ago so i can point out some specifics but i don't have sth like a list. It's usually 1~2k per boss but end of disks it's like -75% of total, so if you plan to level up || Miranda, white dragoon || or anyone for that matter to Lv5, i would wait until the beginning of Disk 4 where there are no longer major substractions and it's safe to stay at >20k SP at all times
im so confused, between discord and the website im getting links to a few different versions of DraMod. I got a fresh download of Severed Chains today, what version of DraMod do I download?
Can you share where the inconsistency is? I'll check the site and Discord now, but it is supposed to be consistent.
Long story short you have three choices:
- Use DraMod for emulator. Oldest version, very hacky, but generally works.
- Use DraMod for SC 2.1. Better, but still quite old.
- Wait for the impending update for devbuild / SC 3.0. Will be worth it IMO, as otherwise you're stuck with bad performance on SC 2.1
(the version of DraMod currently available for SC only works with 2.1, to clarify)

Ahhh I see the issue. The last link is for the old emulator release (with a V4 alpha from 2023). As far as I know, there's no reason to take that over the version built for SC 2.1. So it's just a matter of deciding whether you wanna wait for the new update so it's rocking along with SC 3.0's massive upgrades.

As I said, DraMod for SC 2.1 is not compatible with current devbuild.
you can either have DraMod for SC 2.1 now, or wait for a new version of DraMod to release with devbuild/3.0.
The difference is that devbuild / 3.0 has way more core improvements than 2.1 (such as instant loading, GPU rendering, 4K60FPS, and a lot more), and new DraMod will also be improved.

If you do go dragoon, shanas special field weakens her magic since she uses dark spells after a dragoon hits the field. Havent graduated from hard to hell yet but may be worth a shot
using rose/albert/haschel
lenus died i just didnt use dragoon til about 6k hp. used rose special. melee attack in special dragoon form did 1600 dmg and that was enough with albert/haschel backing up
i have not used shana since like... the underwater caverns in disc 1
i had rose/albert do most/all of the damage. rose has 75 speed, albert has 80, haschel has 100. but albert/rose have their maxxed final additions at the moment. so haschel healed with items and gave speed up/material shield to the others , and was easy win
just had to not go dragon. went dragon the first 2 times around 12k hp and she just went apeshit and water magic 1 shotted my team

Bandit shoe, bandit ring, dancer ring. Rose would be 95 speed but she can't get dancer boots yer
Bandit shoe ring boost Albert from 40 to 80, an insane double, and haschel from 60 to 100. Using.a speed up to bring Albert to 160 for a few turns is huge damage
You can buy the bandit and dancer stuff at Lohan. I spent hours grinding 00parts to buy 3 dragon helms, 2 bandit rings, 2 shoes and 1 dancer ring (45k gold) before doel. to get it out of the way , because I'd need to eventually anyway

You could buy only 1 Lohan item per Disk, so 4 total as a restriction, but that may not be for everyone xD
if you need to grind you can do it, it is there
for my playthrough i didn't buy anything but some items you can duplicate and you should always try to get one magical hat since i raised the drop rate to 40%.
my current playthrough i also didn't buy much but with me removing the headache from the exp exploit it in the new version things should go faster.

@iron bone while you're here, could you maybe tell me how rose storm 'duration' works? if the duration is 3... is it 3 albert turns? 3 turns of the character? 3 enemy turns? 3 hits taken?
i couldnt get a definitive answer the other day and just wanna cover my bases

and a faster haschel or meru would have their rose storm 'buff' gone much faster?
so, lower speed characters like kongol would benefit more from the buff? because he takes 3 turns much slower?
hmm some characters don't really get 3 turns. it counts down at the start of the player turn. so if lavitz/albert use rose storm and say meru goes right after before any enemy, she'll only have two turns left.

Jiango is quite strong and relentless. I bet Zy overtuned them for Hard/Hell haha.

The divine dragon soul in Mayfil is kinda difficult.
no real programs with jiango, just beat dragoon lenus. i didnt know about the total vanishing cheese on freugel so he was harder than jiango
the bosses i had most problems with were probably urobolus, feyrbrand, and Lenus Fletz

died to dragoon lenus twice before i figured out what the play was... lol
currently grand jewel was my biggest pain so far in hard mode.
but so far ive found that since hard is balanced more around the dragoons than the humans, that a good ole fashion Special command tends to get the job done before the field expires

thats what i did on both lenus'. she was trouble, so after regole was dead and Lenus was about 50% health, i popped an Albert special and just sent it. alberts D. Lvl was 3 and haschels was 1. had haschel give albert speed up, and she just died.
Hmm, I wish I did. I can say that the only things I tend to grind are additions and sometimes D.lvls. But I probably did run into a blue bird or two.
As for grand jewel, I think most of the party was around 26 or 27
i got roses hard blade right before gehrich and then grinded out 80 hard blades in between valley/gehrich gang. grinding between them got her to 21 with an almost maxxed demon blade. she has been carrying since. ik rose is usually bad, but she is buffed here, and absolutely carried me through gehrich and Lenus
and I love that she's atleast decent so far. in terms of disc 2. but im about to be on disc 3 after cutscenes
her outputs fine enough, i just have a hard time keeping her alive

er no i was wrong it is on turn end the power stats countdown still same outcome
caster is turns +1, everyone else gets the desired turns. so albert using rose storm would be 4->3 right after using it.
110 speed meru vs a 50 speed boss you are still only likely to get 1 maybe 2 MONSTER turns out of the DF/MDF buff is the battle theory.

grand jewel was such a god damn pain on hard, hadnt played this game in a while so my jaw fucking dropped when it healed almost 5k, and istg that thing was reprogrammed to only use level down

I'm trying to download this mod but I can't get it to show up in my options menu when I start a new game. I extracted all the files to the mods folder but nothing seems to work.
I'm just trying to give enemies 2x health or cut my damage in half. 😅
Gut feeling tells me youre using the devbuild, not RB 2.1, which is the only version supported at the moment
So, I know this is a really niche sort of thing but I personally really enjoy playing the LoD hard mode but like to adjust the additions back to the base values. Really I'm just a Meru fan and I like playing with her original damage for perky step. Anyways, I could understand the old .csv files but the one addition ones for RB 2.1 baffle me.
If someone could clue me in to how those work I'd appreciate it.

I assume you could just copy the perky step row from the US dataset to the hard mode dataset
So the leftmost DM column is just a multiplier for the addition at level one and so on.

I think I'm using 3.0 or whatever the current devbuild is. What are the differences between that and 2.1?
well the devbuild is in constant maintenance and update so i imagine itd be hard to maintain mod support on a daily basis. So theres the recommended builds, 3.0 is in testing so 2.1 is the most recent. Top of my head the main differences i think relate to framerate caps in battle, speed options taking a heavier toll on your gpu, some visual clarity, and menu interface.
Minor enough to still be worth it though if you wanna start a dramod run and still better than emulators.
That's not really a good explanation Emerald. 3.0's current devbuild is a massive difference from 2.1.

I'm playing hard mode with the all characters at level 1 with dragoon spirts start using the RB2.1 build. I just got to the Urobolus? fight(Giant snake in a cave) and the game keeps crashing during the finishing attack animation. I figured it was because I didn't have Dart in the party so I put him in the first slot and it still crashed.
There should be a window with a crash log

I did not the first time, so I put him in the party in slot 1 and it still crashes. He dosen't say don't replace like usual though.
Most bosses in 2.1 will crash after the fight if he isn't in the main slot
If it still crashes with him in the main slot we'll need to see the crash log
2.1 also has an issue where debug.log gets cut off exactly where the important information is when it crashes, but from what I can see before it gets cut off, it looks exactly like the crash you get with the wrong party members

Dart will gain "Burn Stacks" while in Dragoon form doing any action.

Final Burst - 3
Red-Eyed Dragon - 4
Each Burn Stacks gives 10% extra damage when activated through the battle bar.
Burn Stacks caps out at a certain amount based on Dragoon Level.

At max stacks when activated, Flameshot and Final Burst will do the same amount of damage. Explosion and Red-Eyed Dragon will do the same amount of damage.

When equipped with "Firebrand" the 20% Divine damage boost will apply to all of Dart's damage including Burn Stacks.
Lavitz/Albert - Wind Mark/Barrier
Monster can be applied with "Wind Mark" while in Dragoon form performing magic attacks.
Wind Mark is set based on the Dragoon spells, once applied a Wind Mark must be fully cleared before applying a new one.
Spell/Wind Mark(s)
Wing Blaster & Spinning Gale - 1
Gaspless - 2
Jade Dragon - 3
Wind Marks will go do by 1 when party members attack the monster the Wind Mark has been applied to.
Wind Marks will slow down the amount of turns an enemy takes.
Current Wind Marks will be displayed under Lavitz's/Albert's portrait when attacking a single target.
Lavitz/Albert can activate the Wind Barrier through the battle bar at the cost of 10 MP per turn and will deactivate on turn start if there is not enough MP.
Wind Barrier has the same effects of Wind Marks, however the monster is slowed down if they attack Lavitz/Albert.
Wind Barrier status will be displayed above Lavitz's/Albert's portrait.
When equipped with "Ouroboros" Lavitz/Albert, when the conditions of Speed Down are met the effects of Wind Barrier will increase during this time.
Shana - Quiver
Shana can switch what arrows she is using midfight using the battle bar.
The current arrow you have equipped will have unlimited usage, any other arrow you swap to will have a limited amount of usages per battle.
When using a(n) <Fire/Water/Wind/Earth/Dark/Light/Lightning> Arrow they may spawn the single target magic item of that elemental type.
When equipped with the weapon "Elemental Arrow" you will gain access to all elemental arrows even if you have not found them.
If equipped with an arrow that has an elemental property, it will be displayed under Shana's portrait.
Rose - Siphon
Rose can siphon and stores up to 20% of her current Max HP per attack by damaging enemies in Dragoon form.
The cap of this storage is Rose's Max HP upon entering battle.
When at the cap, through the battle bar, you can activate the stored siphon and it will be added to the damage of the attack.
When equipped with the weapon "Dragon Beater" Rose can gain siphon in Human Form.
Haschel - Thunder Charge
While Haschel is in the party and has obtained his Dragoon Spirit, enemies can be applied with a "Thunder Charge".
Thunder Charge is gained 50% of the time when performing Thunder based damage.
When Haschel is performing a physical attack there is a 50% of gaining a Thunder Charge regardless of Thunder-based physical attacks.
When Haschel is performing a physical attack in Dragoon form there is second 50% chance of gaining a Thunder Charge. Both 50% chances can only add 1 Thunder Charge.
At 10 stacks of Thunder Charge, Haschel can use Dragoon form Spark Net to deal massive damage.
Dragoon form Spark Net will deal even greater damage to Thunder Based enemies.
When equipped with the weapon "Thunder Fist" or "Overcharge Glove" there is a possibility to gain 2 Thunder Charge's in a single turn.
Current Thunder Charges will be displayed under Haschel's portrait when attacking a single target.
Meru - ■■■■■■ Magic + Ice Shield
Meru can use her ■■■■■■ magic to build up an Ice Shield as she attacks that will reduce the damage taken by the amount stored.
Meri can access ■■■■■■ Magic state through the battle bar it costs 10 MP per turn and will deactivate on turn start if there is not enough MP.
In this state it will also increase guard from 10%->18% in Hard Mode and from 8%->15% in Hell Mode.
Meru can build an Ice Shield up to 100% of her current Max HP as an Ice Shield.
When equipped with the weapon "Magic Hammer" all physical attacks will build up 10% Ice Shield.
When in ■■■■■■ Magic state the status will appear above Meru's portrait.
The amount of Ice Shield will appear below Meru's portrait.
Kongol - Counterstance
While Kongol has no status effects or menu blocking debuffs, Kongol can freely enter the Counterstance.
Counterstance lasts for 3 turns.
When selecting Counterstance from the battle bar, Kongol will only be able to guard on the first turn. After guarding Kongol's speed will be set to 0.
Every time Kongol gets attacked he will gain full turn meter.
When Kongol takes a turn he will heal 4% HP and will only be able to physical attack and not use magic, items, guard, or escape.
Kongol is always considered guarding while in this state. The amount of turns left will be displayed below Kongol's portrait.
When equipped with "Giant Axe" Kongol's speed will be set to half and will increase the turns in Counterstance to 4 turns.

dragon block staff is only -20% instead of -90% stats.
Lloyd is easy to cheese. Ultimate Lloyd will not be cheesable.

question as well, is it possible to have equipment that scales with enemies defeated? We have an inverse HP scaling weapon, so I imagine it possible to have regular scaling, as well as mp scaling. But im curious to see just what kinds of things we can scale
im a fan of ff7 in that regard since all the ultimate weapons scaling was pretty diverse
technically you can make any game mechanic you want, if you have the know-how.
Zychronix made Burn Stacks for Dart well before SC.
It's not compatible with the QoL version, but i tried it on the base 3.0 and the colors were mostly fine, but i think before further testing it's best to wait for a more complete product. As even during transformations you just simply revert to red dart, lol Atleast for the 3.0 version

all you need to do is make a copy of the enemyrewardsevent
clear out the old one
then use the multipliers you have to set exp/gold
and for drop rate you get all the itemdrops from the copy and multiply the drop rate.

After digging deeply into the old messages, I may have answered this question ahead but I figured I'd ask; with the current SC build, the dragoon modifier doesn't work with it correct?
I extracted it correctly, had it display within the new campaign mod menu, but its listed as incorrect version. Is this mod on hold till a stable v3 comes out? Appreciate ya'lls hard work, love Severed Chains, even without the mod!
Zy is working on updating it to be compatible with the devbuild, but he's also reworking pretty much the whole mod and adding hell mode so it's taking a bit of time

Things to note
Dragon Block staff is only a 20% damage reduction
You will start with all extra dragoon spirits and a few extra items. hell mode is the "i beat the game already" pseudo new game+ mode
You can add Shana/Lavitz back after recruiting them with option 'C'
When you lose Dart's dragoon spirit you can use option 'C' to add it back in the map you lost it
In Forbidden Land you can use option 'C' to open up the Wingly Forest item shop as you can't go back once you've entered. Other areas will be added in the future
Dragoons now max out at level 7
Bosses now mark everyone as alive even if they are not and give 50% exp in hell mode. I have only personally finished disc 3 and am in the middle of testing disc 4.
All enemies and bosses stats will increase the lower their health gets. For those familiar, "Hell Mode+" is now the default and only option.
Bosses also have shields. Use DraMod's monster HP bars from the config menu to see their exact amount.
The follow options can not be changed
Dragoons transform exit will always adjust to use "After Turn"
All other options in Dragoon form will be set to OFF
Inventory Size is dynamically controlled by the number of Ultimate Bosses you've defeated. It will stay at 32 until you do so.

i think that is a known issue with base SC. you have to go into the menu and change it yourself.

frugal 1 and his minions and i had dart meru and hachael. dart should be around the normal level and the other two would be the level they are when you add them to the party
