Palou is such an NPC, if he'd been a good boy and not axed that McLaren contract, IndyCar wouldn't be the dull mess it is now, and they say they're not "stuck in the 90s"
They're gonna want an American... But who? I don't follow anything American to even guess
Jak Crawford is their best bet because Colton has no luck
If I had IndyCar drivers in my consideration list of who should drive for Cadillac, Palou wouldn't be on it, there's lots of drivers who are bigger priorities to me than Palou
Oh my god I forgot Logan
I wonder if he'll return
Piece gasleeeeeeeeey
Piss gassy
Gasly is too busy glazing his team and running into the back of his former teammate, his credibility is in shreds, that Gasly we saw win Monza 2020 isn't there anymore
Pee air gassy
Meanwhile Colapinto is going nowhere fast, and trashing the car again, the repair bills are going to be literal phone numbers
he is PISSED PISSED
I’d be too if I was stuck behind Albon for 50 laps but holy
Already have seen lmao
Lando Norris had this hilarious exchange with the garage during the race at the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Christ
Chicken Little lookalike Tom Bellingham believes it's "time we let go of Monaco", F1 isn't abandoning Monaco anytime soon
And F1 won't go back to overrated tracks like Hockenheim or Sepang
You can't call yourself a "traditionalist" and want Monaco out
Formula E loves a well timed tweet
Their secret is small cars with complicated braking, long braking zones, and easy mistakes to make on corner exit
I hope F1 never abandons Monaco, It's too amazing watching the fastest cars around such a tiny course
Controversially and I'm not just saying it because Palou won, Indy was worse this year than Monaco, if lapping backmarkers was awful in Monaco, it was a joke in Indy
I don't want Monaco gone, but those tracks' return wouldn't be so bad either.
Get in there lewis
Damn, he is going all in.
I mean I don't expect the F1 World Champions to not be popular with the ladies, but it is always a surprise whenever I see someone I see regularly on media, and kind of look up to, show these sorts of behvaiors.
Lewis has a guest rap verse about making that thang rain and laying pipe
Really? Damn, I guess he was always well into that scene.
I mean, I assume most of the drivers are, bar some of them which appear to be too shy for it.
Such as Charles Leclerc. But then again, I don't pry into their personal lives.
I don't know them personally.

Pipe Lyrics:
Oh, oh yeah
I get loud when you put that pipe down, pipe down, pipe down
I wanna celebrate you right now, right now, right now
Got me sendin' for you all across town, cross town, cross town
I wanna celebrate you right now, ...
I found it. It is also really bad
Yeah I didn't have much of an expectation.
Someone once said something which seemed rather funny, and true.
They said "Daniel Riccardo is a short person that looks like a tall person, while Charles Leclerc is a tall person that looks like a short person."
Hey I know that song
Hamilton sang in this
I've known this for forever
Good for you.
@granite tangle, got some news for you
🚨| According to Bild, Ferrari has reached out to Christian Horner to potentially bring him to Maranello.
Ferrari casually inquired with Horner a few weeks ago, however a move would be tough, given the Brit’s commitment to Red Bull.
Make of this what you will 🤔
diddymilton x horny
😭
I'm not having that
now that's unexpected.
I mean first Newey for Aston, and now Horner for Ferrari? Redbull may as well close shop at that point.
Not to mention Verstappen planned for Aston or AMG for 2027.

THis artist has a pretty adorable artstyle.
Mercedes doesn't have scissors and glue lmao
Toto already broke all of them out of sheer frustration with Kimi's bottling haha.
Gasly is blaming Tsunoda for their clash in Monaco, the delusion is massive from him
THE LORD HAS RISEN
and who else is to blame
gasly had a brake failure but its still his fault
He should've realised Tsunoda needed to brake for that Chicane
can tsunoda as the car ahead guess that the car behind is gonna come flying to his rear right?
oh gasly is blaming yuki?
what?
link it
i cant believe it
Unreal.
I like that, but they should've painted the whole car
Same with their Vegas livery that it was IMPOSSIBLE to find pictures of
Pffft
Ey
I don't see any differences though
Palou says he's "perfect where he is", good! We don't need him in F1 anyways and besides he's not the "best in the world", 3 IndyCar titles and an Indy 500 win mean nothing to most of the F1 grid
Motorsports is so tricky to nail cross pollination. Even the subtle differences between series can make it break drivers as they move between them
Maybe the best F1 WDC we never saw had their career peak in Mazda MX5 Cup Thailand or something
the goat prince bira
Bira raced in F1
yeah well you mentioned thailand so i made the joke
Maybe the 2022 regs changes would have catapulted him to 3 championships... We will never know
he was the prince of his country but never got to see it develop a place in motorsports
tragic
Of course
You can't be a racing driver if you don't make great expenses
What's so funny about it
the car was literally a carbon copy of the W10 mercedes, just pink
yeah literally copied last year's mercedes design down to every detail, with a mercedes power unit
everyone called it the pink mercedes
and for a midfield team it was quite abnormally fast
perez went from 17th to 1st in this car in sakhir to get his maiden win
he had an amazing drive but it really showed that this car was fucking fast
Impressive drive honestiy
the european mind cannot comprehend this photo
These pictures are so cool
I will say
I don't quite understand one thing
Why do F1 cars need to be so big for safety reasons
When the Indycars can achieve higher speeds, yet are smaller
F1 tracks can create far steeper angles of impact. Indycar crashes usually hit walls and scrape along for aaaaaages, but in F1 there's more opportunity for hitting barriers head on at 160mph
At least the ovals.
Indycar road courses.... They are scary
Thats what I'm saying
The road courses rhat indy cars race at are pretty scary too
Infact, even tighter than F1 courses
Which is why the excuse for size doesn't make a whole lot of sense
So, there's an aspect of F1 cars being so large because more size is more aerodynamic surface area as well
If that's the actual reason, then I'd be more inclined to believe
Because rhats completely valid
Much more than any actual safety reason
Lots of different reasons.
Also the FIA just decides on minimum and maximum heights lengths and widths, to achieve what they want out of a regulation change.
Regardless, it doesn't matter too much
They'll just make racing the way they do anyway
Not like older cars being smaller really made any difference
They keep trying, and succeeding, in making it better.
They couldn't overtake at monaco before, they can't do it now
The last two regs changes had a big focus on reducing aero turbulence behind a car and we've seen a LOT more lap long side by side battles.
F1 cars have been too big for Monaco since 1970 it's totally irrelevant.
The cars are technically becoming faster with every regulation change, extra downforce, more Aero, more tech
But there are circuits where rhe older cars would probably be faster at
It has always been an exceptional formula E tracks it just took 80 years for those cars to get there.
Hrhe
Well they might be about to get slower.
More horsepower from the electric motor but not a bigger enough battery to make that work for high speed tracks...
2026 regs are kind of confusing at the moment
On paper they don't seem to state directly whether if they'll be faster or slower
But I assume the first year will have teething problems
That means they're probably slower
Possibly, at least at the start
I'd rather see them ditch the hybrid units entirely.
I don't even see why F1 cars of all things should be hybrids
The FIA won't particularly care about making the cars faster for the sake of it. They'll want to be the fastest race cars in the world, but there's nothing to be gained by being 10 seconds a lap faster instead of 2, than the next fastest car. So they want to make them spectacular to watch as sporting race cars, to show off the race craft and skill. And they will add goofy gimmicks to try and make it happen.
Hybrid power made F1 cars harder to drive, added a new strategic race craft toy AND made them faster., and they don't have to stop to refuel anymore. There's not really much of a negative to the hybridisation
I don't see any real positives either
I just listed 3
It's not the refuels ever took away from the cars
The sound are considerably worse
They sat in the pit box for 25 seconds at a time it was boooorrriiiingggg
That's their problem
It needed solving
Not being changed entirely
But personally
I couldn't care less what they use
They all sound and go the same anyway
At over 10k RPM even a 2 cylinder sounds the same as a 16 cylinder
That brief honda engine doing cylinder shut off during breaking. Oh my god the sound was wild.
There was an echo of V10 thunder you could hear when those cars were racing it was beyond belief
Its mostly just the fact that I associate hybrid with boring
But that's personal issues
Well that was also something F1 tried to solve. "Look here's a whole other toy to play with in your car"
They could make PHEV V10s I suppose
It's not impossible
I think they should have seriously looked into that. People who go to the V10 races really enjoyed that incredible sound. The volume of it, the distance it could travel and bounce back from was crazy
I heard some fly by shots of the V10s in Assetto Corsa, and it wasn't sounding like a car
It sounded like an actual screech
Almost scary honestly
Oh go find some footage. I dunno if any game can capture the way it would echo back into camera mics from the nearest couple of mountains.
Hopefully one day we'll achieve a level of technology where we can reliably see big exiticng motors with PHEV
Let me find the one I'm talking about
Corvette E Ray?
Bigger than V8s I mean
V10s and V12s and such
Engine typed that are nearly extinct
Have they?
I don't know any instance of this with Lamborghini
I mean the Ruevelto technology
It has some hybrid
Wasn't the Sian an Aventador derived hybrid too?
It's a matter of making it reliably possible
I don't think the Sian had any Hybrid to it
The Ruevelto does however
5 seconds · Clipped by Charlie Nash · Original video "Every F1 Team We've Lost Since 2000" by Nekrews 51
This is thr clip by thr way
It's a pretty normal PHEV
That arrows sounded scary
I don't know every example so cut me some slack
The Revuelto, I think the Sian was a hybrid but idk
Remember when jaguar lost those diamonds at Monaco?
Jaguar had nice colors yeah
Yes, match that with Irvine's helmet from his time there and it's a beauty
I still dont know thr story behind that
I keep hearing it
I guess green white and red just make good racing liveries in general
They put some extraordinary diamonds on the nose of their cars for Monaco, crashed, and nobody ever found the diamond... It wasnt even a crazy crash, the rock definitely survived but nobody ever admitted they found it. There's a theory it was an insurance scam, that the diamonds on the cars were fake and they'd just claim they went missing regardless
What the hell
Why would they put diamonds in a F1 car lol
That's quite a silly tale
Monaco Vibes Baby
Yeah but not in a F1 car
It's glitzy, it's glam, and nobody was going to look at the slow as balls jags otherwise
I mean I suppose but it's stil such a silly thing to do
Oh absolutely
Silly Ford and Jaugar. Like you said, might have been an insurance scam. Its hard ro say
It's the weirdest thing ever and the crash itself was easily avoidable
But so was budgeting your team for 20 million dollars from a man with a giant beard who DOESN'T have a big energy drink factory you can visit but he swears it totally exists
Oh that was Haas
My other favourite is how Daniel Abt got fired from the Abt formula E team
I swear to god, Haas won't make 2026 at this rate
They have the worst sponsors ever
Thr worst owner ever
they should get fahim to sponsor them
All their drivers wreck.their cars every race
Maybe they'd actually have some money tjen
I love the white and red color of Haas, but they really need some actual brains behind their staff for once
Not unreliable sponsors and a cheapskate of a boss
And a team chief who's only known for breakdowns and swearing on DTS
Oh Gunther left
He's doing stand up comedy tour these days
And he isn't even there anymore
Haas is basically the Minardi of now
A team whose existence on the grid makes you wonder why they're even bothering
Probably rhe only thing he's actually good at
He never seemed like had any idea what he was doing as team chief
I'm gonna make a Formula E team
Do it
It'll be named Tweetman Momeni Formula E team
I'm the team, you're the title sponsor xd
Hell yeah
I've got £30 going spare to fund it with, and I just finished building my solar panel project so we won't pay for charging
We'll be the drivers
That's perfect
That's already more budget than any of the other teams
So true
Hehehe
Back when NIO 333 raced even the journalists were worried they'd get drafted in as race engineers
nissan should hire blackpanthaa to drive for their formula e team
Nissan Leaf company car hell yeah
You'll be number 277 and I'll be number 24
And for livery we'll do something nice
I always quite liked old Jordan liveries
So why not something in homage to them
Leaf cup event, we'll invent that series
As a matter of fact even
There's the new Micra
Mix the Renaulr 5 together and we can make a 5/Micra Cup event
That'll be rhe support series for Formula E
Now we're thinking like proper businessmen
And a racing team
Would be fun honestly if we can make something of it
Let me spend this summer trying to build a track day hill climb lead and I'll get back to you
But I'm going to sleep first 💤
Hahaha, that's gonna be ehe perfect testing ground
Yeah I need to sleep too
Have a goodnight
You folks too
tracing point
Pffft
Looking into some history of F1 media
It seems like F1 used to be much more.. shall we say hateful in its presentation
Like I don't know how true it all was
But apparently in the Spanish GP, all of Spain threw racist remarks at Hamilton for beating his Spanish teammate
And in Silverstone, all of Britain threw racist remarks at Alonso for beating his British teammate.
Or how Schumacher was demonized on British broadcast in his earlier years.
F1 drama certainly is not small whatosever.
Bortoleto about Antonelli: "I will put him in the wall next time"
https://t.co/9REx0tMAKm
im not sorry at all
but i love this kid
To be honest, I felt bad for Bortoleto
I don't know if Kimi was actually being an ass
But Bortoleto was the only one with a legi overtake in the race
Only to be pushed into the wall by Kimi
Hamilton always faced things like this
Ever since he was a young kart driver
A shame honestly
racing incident
I personally never understood this sort of behvaior
both were and werent at fault
I mean I grew up in a world where a black man was racing and winning nearly every F1 race there was, and a black man was the president of the United states of America
It never made sense why are some discriminatory in that category
you could say "why would kimi back off and let him pass" and "gabi should know that kimi isnt gonna let him through" while kimi pushing him off could be true as well
circuit is fucked, cars are too big for it
well because before hamilton there was noone like him
he wasn't breaking any rules as far as I know
But I still wish he'd let Bortoleto keep that position
God bless Sauber, I really wanna see them have at least one WCC
yeah its unfortunate
They've been at this sport for too long to not have more than just 1 race win
gabi is also unlucky to be in sauber, tho i guess he is lucky because at least hes on a multi year contract so he'll carry over to audi
bortoletto was the F2 champion after all
yeah that's something I wondered actually, whether if Hulkinberg and Bortoleo would carry over to Audi when the rebrand happens
they are both carrying over
their signings were made with audi in mind
thats why bottas lost his seat
Fair enough, guess this was long in the works afterall
audi didn't want him?
audi wanted a pair of one experienced driver and a promising young talent i guess
Hey Bottas is pretty promising
Not to mention, became an internet personality with his time at Sauber
He easily was Sauber's most vital internet personality
The only reason anyone even cared about Kick sauber
bottas was great for marketing but i would guess signing hulk was much cheaper
They could have just kept him as a reserve driver
But I guess mercedes does that now
they could but mercedes sniped him
well with zhou even tho hes a nice guy its different
ferrari got zhou because he brings a shitton of china money
Really? That was the reasn? Damn..
mercedes got bottas because he is experienced with the team and mechanics and can help develop the car
Of course
The Spanish grand Prix was nearly cancelled over this one year.
Plus him going away from Mercedes wasn't a choice they were happy about in the first place
I am sure Toto right now is very much doubting his choice about Kimi
Christ, it was that bad?
Insanity
yeah the most notable and notorious thing was people in the spanish crowd painted their faces black and held up a sign that said "Hamilton's family"
I'm sure Halloween costume gorilla masks were involved. It was pretty fucking disgusting
Sad state of affairs ngl
I understand Hamilton is the first major black F1 driver to be driving at such a league
Hence some animosity is expected from a sport this set in stone
But like.. damn
I expected it to be just shouting hurtful remarks
Than going full on Black face
In the year 2007 of all things
I can see why sometimes governments arrest sports fans
They are too emotional
i mean in the year 2021 we had good old Nelson come out and say some things XD
What was that?
hamilton put verstappen into the wall at 55G that year in silverstone
Oh yeah I remeber that incident
(and then Christian Horner sent someone on a full simulation test day to try and make the FIA believe it was deliberate and premeditated)
It was really brutal crash
Nelson Piquet (his daughter is engaged to Max obviously) proceeded to call lewis an equivalent of "that n-word" instead of using his name in a portuguese interview
Piquet is just a cunt generally
Damn, that is messed up
Didn't even want go to London to watch his son win the formula e championship
I mean I get it, he was mad about the incidents
Becoming emotional is expected
but people who act like this, are usually like this even when stuff like this don't happen
Guess that's my proof
Nelson is a legend of the sport in track but outside of it he aint so nice
it is what it is though
if FIA is fine with him just getting a 1million$ fine then who am i to know better right
See, I don't expect the F1 drivers I see on grid to be heros or idols to follow
Like hamilton is said to be a rather cold person to speak with
Or Schumacher was sometimes described as "a real scumbag"
But even still, I really expect better standards
When people like Hakkinen, Piastri or Jim Clark exist or existed, I really don't think of having higher expectations of your sports idols to be a false thing
Piastri? I've never seen that man say or do anything
He just seems to turn up, win stuff, be unstressed, say thank you McLaren and off he goes
It's amazing
Exactly
He is top class
Same with the other two
On or off the track, they're top class
Plus he gets along with everyone
Or at least makes an attempt
I'm pretty sure Hamilton has never had a real friend in F1
Whether be it due to his racial situation or his own personality
Regardless, no real hate is intended. God knows the only reason anyone actually watches F1 is for irregulaties
He and Nico Rosberg were great friends for a very long time
I heard they had a fallout. I hope it's not true.
Well 2016 broke that friendship. Teammates, a dominant car, and two drivers that did EVERYTHING to beat the other to the championship
But it wasn't like, rudeness or hatred it was being total rivals
It's still a shame honestly
I hate it when teammates have to battle like that
Just breaks the whole concept of a team
PlanetF1 has learned that FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem has secured key regional support which means he's set for a second term. #f1 #spanishgp

@granite tangle
you know?
i like it
shame it's alpine
I love it actually
I don't know if it's a homage to any previous look of Alpine/Renault
But it looks awesome
It's interesting, every race there seems to be at least one team changing their car's livery in homage
or some other reason
Ferrari and RB broke out new liveries for Miami
Mclaren had a slightly different livery for Monaco, and Charles a different race suit
And now Alpine with this one for Spain
https://x.com/ScrewderiaF1/status/1928088465742221757?t=jx1DqlMWt-gVljZDbUsvcg&s=19
@granite tangle @violet sun
Pfffft
TBF white twinks can be very easy to mix up
I could walk past Gabriel Bortoletto and my main thought would be "shouldnt he be in school today?"
Kimi Antonelli too
George Russell is definitely the alpha twink
I'd say Russel has the most femboy voice of them all xd
But he is quite cute with how polite he usually sounds
Would not surprise me
Lmfao
Max Verstappen makes fun of Ferrari's terrible strategies, then reacts to Ferrari making a bad strategy call at the 2022 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the cooldown room.

I...
Vintage lotus I think. Niceee
The walrus!
Apparently it wasn't any good
i cant complain i think
oh those noses... rough era XD
afaik only the BMW was called the walrus
Thhat;s really good
Goddamn, that's even more of a literal walrus
I need a F1 game where I can make my own team and set of sponsors
Too bad such a game doesn't exist
I call the lotus the walrus because look at it's tusks
Never forget him
not the penis 😭
Surprised no one blurred it out on TV at the time
can’t say teach them at a young age because it’s child labor at this point
https://t.co/02Hv5jZsPP
Unless you always root for the winning team
That’s insane
Omg GT7 car
GT7 has this? nice
It's so happy to go sideways everywhere
Yeah as of November
That's rather cool
Classic F1 cars are always quite cool
I'ts crazy that it used to be so much easier to make F1 cars
I dunno if it was ever easier, they were still cutting edge
All it essentially meant twas getting thinner tires, removing any fender and fitting a bigger engine
You know, I wonder something
How would a front engine modern F1 car be like
The closest we ever got was the LMP1 Nissan GT-R (my beloved)
That's true, that was one of the last Front engine LMP1 cars
You gain a huge amount of volume at the back of the car to do aero with
It was also even Front wheel drive
It was the first in decades too
only because it was never finished
This is what some made as an idea for a front engine indy car
So I guess it is possible to do the same for F1 cars
But with the current formula hinging so much on ground effect, and huge venturi tunnels, a front engine F1 car could be pretty brilliant
It certainly would be, and it would also most likely be quite expensive to develop
Really? I didn't know that
I guess the main problems youd have is all the regulations for aero size and shape would need torn up, and crash testing would be very different, youd need to keep the heaviest component from coming backward into the cabin in a crash
It would also require a very different style of driving
You'd be much more likely to see them kick the tail out, just so they can get a bit more rotation
And in a situation like this, nearly any sort of crash would cause the engine to be damaged
Which would rise the repair costs
They wanted to mount motors almost in the rear wheels with tiny driveshafts, to make it 4WD but ran out of development time.
Interesting, that would still definitely favor the front wheels more than rear
But I suppose it is at least something
It's such an odd ball
But honestly, I do like it
Back when Nissan developed this, I dont think there was a minimum speed limit for the Hybrid systems, so it would have probably been closer to a normal 4WD hybrid out the corners, except with torque steer from gear changes instead of possibilities of oversteer.
Most likely
By the way, while looking for FR F1 concepts
I came across many pictures like this
I don't know if you notice any difference
But that's a modern regulation F1 car without the Halo
I don't think the Halo was even the biggest bother to me, in terms of how it affects these cars' design
But I don't think it's false to say either they do look a bit sleeker without them
I do too honestly, and it does indeed feel wrong somewhat
Espedcially since the Halo has become so set in stone
This article is a really good dive into the gtr engineering.
https://www.racecar-engineering.com/cars/nissan-gt-r-lm-nismo/
But I wouldn't mind it not being there either
Mhm
I get the safety gains from the halo and all, but I do think without it, these cars do look better
Thank you
They don't want another driver dying like Jules Bianchi
In the period that the Halo has been used, it has proven very effective
Lewis Hamilton himself owes his life to it
F1 safety is one of those things you can just never go back on
I dont know who got the idea to create this but he is a genuis
it's why the Nordschliefe was taken out of the calender
But let's be real
This sport?
it was always intended purely for adrenaline junkies anyway
So I don't think those who died wouldn't have wanted to die anyway
Some former F1 drivers as I understand it
Except for car size, which they are going back on somewhat
Oh
But that's not an inherent safety consideration
Of course, It was always a bit of an excuse in reality, heh
As the materials technology moves on, you can use less material and pass the same tests 👍
You know what I don't understand?
They are going out of their way to make all these halos for the sake of safety
But like... can't they just make the F1 cars closed cockpit?
Like many fictional formula cars?
Extraction times
Extraction times?
If you dont have a roof, you cant get caught under it
Hypercars need really advnaced fire suppresion in the cockpits in case you cant get doors open easily when theres a fire. In F1 the drivers need to pass extraction testing, being able to undo their harnesses and crawl out fast enough
Hmm..
I suppose that's a fair argument
They get an essential close cockpit frame with the halo
but easier to get out of
The main dangerout object to a driver is tires coming off at speed.
Grosjean was saved by the halo and that was a weird edge case
It doesnt do nothing, thats for sure.
I don't know how many cases of F1 drvers dying due to some debris off of the front car there are
Of course
He was VERY lucky
Oh absolutely. One of the MANY lucky breaks was the halo stopping him being knocked in the head by the armco barrier.
Well the most well known is Senna, and of course there was Jules Bianchi too
2012 Spa start also had a VERY near miss for Fernando Alonso that wouldnt have been as close with the Halo
But Senna was going too fast and just didn't brake in time due to Imola's design
I didn't hear anything abou debris
And got hit in the head by a tire breaking off the car.
The big development after sennas death were the wheel tethers, that try to stop them flying off when theres a crash
I didn't know that. Damn.
But i think it was the Bianchi incident that made using the halo an FIA goal. They also greatly changed the way safety cars and trackside vehicles interact as that was also part of that tragedy
So that's why wheels hang off right now than fully come off

Exceptional racing that day
I suppose it shows the significance of safety
Above the cars' visual design
I think the current regulations make the halo look much more natural than the previous regulations
I'm sure the FIA wanted that. They got the halo on the cars as soon as it was ready, it was a bit weird visually
There just can be no argument for safety, but one of the appeals of Motorsports has always been its high risk high reward nature. Not just in the field of F1, but every discipline
Yeah, but the risk doesnt have to be injury. Making a split second mistake after weeks of practice and sim work, and ending up out of a race over nothing... Thats a good enough risk
We saw it at monaco, for Gasly
I suppose. The fact of the matter is, whether if death or simple DNF, the result ends up being the same for the race itself
It's only how it is seen on the outside
And it affects the bigger sphere
I mean the famous Rush movie, with Nikki Lauda always going on about calculated risk
Lauda was never a real driver, hence he was always so worried about risks
But his peers weren't
They kind of all accept, as do modern F1 drivers, that dying in this sport is sort of the highest honor you can achieve
But of course, F1 isn't some fantasy or story we read on books
It's reality, and these poeple are very real people with families and friends
When Lauda was racing, the risk of death was FAR higher, so that affects who ends up turning up to compete. Jackie Stewart and Lauda were pretty pioneering in trying to reduce that risk
We can romanticize the death of Senna or Clark or others as much as want, but the safety would always be a priorty in reality anyway
Simply put, things were seen much differently back then
Back then, death was much less significant
especally in a sport that sold itself on its possibility of fatalities
I think its more that dying in motorsports was less shocking, more expected
It means the same as what I say
But oh well
Regardless, the safety advances of Formula 1, and Motorsports in general, go far beyond just the halo
So even if it is removed, which is what most sim racers do when driving these cars for better visibility, it won't change much in reality
The changes are much more than just this one thing
Safety really is such a strange topic in this case
Crofty just said on the broadcast that Jupiter has completed a full orbit around the sun in the time since Fernando Alonso's last race win.
Now that's a stat.
what a smartass, but hilarious
reminded me of alonso fighting the alpines
https://vxtwitter.com/v4tteI/status/1928479670883766538 @severe spindle you'll enjoy this
“when your names comes up on my phone, i’m always kind of excited to read your text” strollonso 😭
https://x.com/SCUDERIAFEMBOY/status/1928487955351388300 @pale tinsel mate was like "what you want me to do? i have gasly, and an argentinian that doesnt know how to drive!"
"My commitment is 100% with Red Bull. It always has been and certainly will be for the long term."
Christian Horner has denied paddock speculation that Ferrari is attempting to poach him from Red Bull ⬇️
https://t.co/DaDCaajKds
As I said
Horner ain’t going anywhere
A 5 time chess world champion has called F1 "boring"
A 5 time chess world champion
Apparently both Max and Jos Verstapprn are trying to get WEC licenses. Max for Hypercar, Jos for GT
This is quite sweet honestly
For one its kind of ridiculous how one's wearing the jacket and shir and the other the pants
But this was quite nice to watch
I really hope Stroll achieves something one day
I see alot of Senna and Hill with his relationship with Alonso
I want stroll to win one wacky race
OR to just randomly be faster than everyone for one race only. He was close in turkey 2020
Indeed, that would be nice
Shanghai Formula E in 8 hours anyone else tuning in?
Not wanna take inspiration from any of the Evo 3s on track?
I suppose I'll see if I can make it.
There were cool ones
I am sorry by the way.
Yeah they both have said before they’d like to team up together at least once
Woke up. Tuned in to formula e. Jaguar been hit by the curse
One day something good will happen to Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy
Screaming at the TV that was absolutely insane
Did you get to watch? If not, they run again tomorrow probably in the rain
Might be legendary
Sorry I didn't make it. I had go outside with mother
I don't know about tomorrow
If you get the chance definitely tune in! The Shanghai circuit is absolutely too large for the tiny FE car... but what that causes is going three wide into the tighter chicanes.
Three wide? In open wheelers? Crazy
I don't know If I'll make it
I'm just in an unknownable state
Hopefully will be able to watch once at least
And not disappoint you
Sorry for causing a scene
Formula E is like this every time they go to large permanent tracks. I think the record was six abreast into turn one Portland because everyone wanted to be P3 for the slipstream
The energy constraints. They do not have enough battery to run a race flat out. BUT unlike an ICE series doing this, the regen braking can scavenge a LOT of energy back into the battery, if you coast at high speed and avoid using the friction brakes. So every car ends up at a different point of wanting to save energy coasting and slipstreaming, wanting to build energy by using regen from high speeds, or spending energy to move forwards in the pack. The commentators compare the races where this happens to a cycling peloton, where every rider wants to conserve their energy unti they're ready to push flat out.
It definitely is quite similar and makes sense as a comparison
Woah! Dunne has went from 19th to 2nd in the F2 Sprint, Chad!
Also Rosberg has joined the Colapinto cult and is glazing him, and I'm not surprised like of course he would
Why would Colapinto get glazed?
Why wouldn't he, he's barely an improvement on Doohan, his qualifying sucks beyond belief
That move by Alpine was such an asshole one
When you get a driver you shouldn't swap it out before the season has barely even begun
Redbull needs to hear the same lesson too
It was a Briatore move because he sleeps with money everywhere he goes
Man, Alpine won't be making 2026 at this point
De Meo continues to deny that the team "isn't for sale" which is exactly what you would say when the future of the team is in the septic tank
"If I can't have it no one can" ahh
I see Geely, Stellantis or Kia Hyundai buying the team from Renault
I doubt Renault would allow it
Especially since the Alpine branding is significant to their motorsports division
yeah they'll sooner burn down formula 1 than let anyone buy their fuckup team
oh how the mighty have fallen
No, the Alpine name will be gone if they sell their part of the team and cut their losses
That's why they don't want it gone
They have the new revision for Alpine road cars
And their Hypercar
THe name for the F1 team must also remain
Yeah but Alpine is more than the F1 team, and they can do better than that
I know they can
And that's what they want as well
But I'm just ssaying, they won't wanna missi out on the publicity that F1 brings
They're better off cutting their losses, what else do they have to lose if they sell their F1 team
Well they'll lose the publicity
I suppose it isn't the biggest loss, but Renault has been with F1 for a very long time
THem being gone would be a bad sign
Not like their current status is not a bad sign
And they've destroyed that legacy in the last 4 years since they rebranded
And to think they wanted Oscar Piastri to be their guinea pig
"No thanks, I'm looking to win championships, not hold your dogwater team together with my two hands"
It certainly would have turned differently if he joined them
Like I love Oscar for all he does, but imagining what it would have been like if he joined Alpine instead of Mclaren, man the timeline that would be
Do you what's even more ironic, Gasly was possibly considered as a replacement for Danny Ric for 2023 until they went for Oscar
Really? Well that's an even bigger surprise
The alternate reality where Piastri raced for Alpine and Gasley for Mclaren
Pierre gassy
THey probably saw many times Riccardo went Gaslyyyyyyyyyy
And thought to consider him
He must be studied for career crack ups even bigger than Alonso's
It's fine, he's achieved decent success in his time for what it's worth
Yeah but his career will always be defined by how his brief stint at Red Bull was
It's just how luck would have it
He wasn't the first, nor will he be the last, to have such a shakey career
it's what makes F1 interesting to begin with
Yeah but he decided to shove that down the sink by sticking by Alpine, his credibility sucks, his only loyalties are his girlfriend and his dog, he's not even loyal to Yuki anymore because he decided to blame him for driving into the back of him in Monaco
Plus, whenever his time at Alpine may be up, he can just go and race for them in WEC
They have decent success there
I mean it's just what happens sometimes
I'm sure he was frustrated from elsewhere
No he'll be out of that organisation entirely
Well, his racing career won't be, so we'll see what happens next
There's nothing I respect more than being loyal to your team
And the fact that he's stuck with Alpine despite everything, is showing of his determination to win under their flag
Him sticking with Alpine is a hilarious joke
It's quite clear the Renault higher ups have brainwashed him
Well, there's also another very apparent reason
💵 money 💵
These athletes at the end of the day are employees above everything
and if no other team particularly wants him, and Alpine pays him welle nouygh, that's enouygh reason to stay
HAHAHAHA
He basically told palpatine to pay extra if he wants him to even consider alpine 😭
They didn’t even want Oscar, they just didn’t manage to get anyone else, and surprise “promoted him”
Thank fuck that didn’t work
In other news
Max for the third time in a single year, defends the no2 driver by publicly announcing they are not the problem
And for the 4th time the Red Bull higher ups (this time Christian Horner) came out in the same GP to say “x needs to step up, if he wants the seat next year”
The team is gonna crash and burn overnight the moment verstappen quits on them
Every second driver they've sat next to him has been a serious proven talent. Management is delulu
Meanwhile according to the media
Helmut Marko has BET MONEY with Verstappen’s engineer Gianpiero Lambiase that Max will win tomorrow. (31/34 Spanish Grand Prix have been won from the front row)
What is HAPPENING
Hmm, pennies? I don't follow.
In this team
A pretty penny, aka a lot, if you are alpine
Oh, he meant "a pretty penny" when he said "pennies".
Isn't this illegal?
I mean it’s inside the team so no
Oh, sorry I did not realize.
It’s illegal if we are talking about betting services, not between 2 people I reckon
This situation is strange.
I have taken a look at the Qualifying results, and those who said Mclaren's pace is showing signs of drops, well weren't you thick.
Rather funny that Hamilton qualified ahead of Leclerc for once.
And Alonso is 10th, which is probably not even the position he'll finish by the end of the race.
I do need to ask however how Sainz has managed to qualify worse than nearly everyone, especially since the Williams' car seemed rather up to pace.
Just had a terrible lap compared to the field same with Yuki sadly. I mean pole from 20th was literally 0.8 apart in Q1
If I’m hadjar I’m staying with RB till any other team wants me
It's a small difference, but I seriously did not expect to see Sainz even in the bottom 10, let alone 18th
If I’m Yuki I have Helmut on speed dial begging him to demote me
In his home GP too
Suffice to say, Redbull's reign is over.
Embaressing result for Alonso as well. This race has thus far been terrible for any driver I cared for.
Also Alonso may be 10th but his lap was truly amazing, you can just see he is extracting everything from this Aston Martin
Alonso put it on 5th, just didn’t have time for a second run in Q3 sadly
I thought the Aston was supposed to be rapid now, given he qualified 5th in the last 2 races. I guess it's gone back to being a tractor again, and if his luck would have it, it'll break down and he'll DNF in lap 38 or something.
And everyone went on to do a second round
Of course with track evolution and all he got beat
Unlikely, Mercedes parts are reliable so now that he got a fresh one he should be fine for the foreseeable future
Some teams just are smart enough to swap the part out before it blows up mid race…
That's what we thought in the previous 2 races too.
Regardless, we all know Alonso ain't finishing in points
Well what we have to understand is the engine inside the merc the Aston and the McLaren is the same
If the qualifer is any indication, this'll be another 1 2 for Mclaren.
So how come the merc and the Aston blew and the mclarens didn’t
Well the answer is a competent garage
That swaps parts out before they explode
I have no idea.
Most likely, tho if you didn’t see there’s a bit of infighting starting in McLaren between the 2 sides of the garage
The devil inside me hopes to see a repeat of Turn 8 2016
I assume Lando wants the WDC now.
Lando was “supposedly” the no1 with the season starting
Oscar obviously managed by mark webber won’t budge though
Yeah he's very rapid thus far.
https://vxtwitter.com/sebvetyoubeauty/status/1928832909076525302?s=46
Oscar and Lando I believe in you lads, you can pull this off
I am all prepared for the inevitable to happen tomorrow
https://t.co/gtXFbaKH8Z
Pfffft
Lewis got a fucking ass whooping from Lauda for this ill never forget it
That was a constant problem with Rosberg. He was an absolute asshole with his blocks.
Yet he was the one man that beat Hamilton in equal machinery
I bet he does not give a single fuck about that
Like Alonso said
"You always have to leave a space"
He’s a world champion, one of the hardest earned as well to beat Hamilton who literally WAS Mercedes in one
Why would he? I doubt any F1 driver give a damn what any of us think.
Rosberg was out of battery, Hamilton was deploying. Why couldn’t Lewis overtake him on the outside with 150hp more
Sounds like excuses to me
Niki Lauda when both of them came back to the garage put it on Lewis because he was the one that could have avoided it
Since when is Niki exactly the person of unknown wisdom lol
Rosberg pushed Hamilton off the track
Well he was the manager in Mercedes then
That was what happened
And he was always a bit of a retard
Respect to lauda, but I never take anything he says seriously
For sure there isn’t a light fitted in f1 cars to indicate when they’re out of charge
He's not a driver
That seems like further reason to not turn in suddenly
This wasn't a new thing with Rosberg
He never understood leaving spaces
It's like he's the only one on the track
Is this a reference I don't get because who is this guy you call Palpatine
I mean I obviously know who Palpatine is I just don't know who you're calling Palpatine
briatore
Oh yeah he's definitely Palpatine lmao
Stroll is out of the race for tomorrow, something to do with his hands and wrists
Damn I hope he's okay. BUT who gets the drive tomorrow!?
Imagine if they phone Nico Hulkenberg 🤣🤣🤣
That would be pretty hilarious ngl
I imagine these sort of situations is what a reserve driver is for
Does Aston even have a reserve driver?
I know Mercedes has Bottas and Ferrari has Zhou
"For the 2025 Formula One season, Aston Martin's reserve driver is Felipe Drugovich"
I am guessing he'll be driving Stroll's car
Great to get an opportunity for a race debut
FOr sure, maybe he'll be something of a hidden tallent
I look forward to it, if I can even get to watch the bloody race
Honestly, I'd say all's forgiven for this move alone
You cannot sleep on a man who can make such an overtake on freaking Monaco of all places
I do need to ask
Is there any section on Monaco that you're allowed to DRS on?
The straights seem too short for it
I think there's some drs into turn one
I suppose that makes sense, it's the only bit straight and long enough for it
Also we finally got our first non-Porsche IMSA win this year in Detroit, it was MSR in the ARX-06
Bruh Shanghai race 2 is 6am for me not 8. Roughh
drugovitch most likely
yeah he is aston's reserve driver and he was in the paddock yesterday, so maybe lance had told aston, managed to hold until qualifying and since he didnt manage a result even remotely near the points they mustve decided that getting rest is more important
oh
🚨 | Aston Martin will only run one car tomorrow - they can't replace Stroll with a driver that didn't compete in qualifying.
Of course, looking to later in the season, Drugovich is their reserve driver.
or not
maybe they straight up arent allowed
Bro is gonna be levitating on the podium
I think it's because of timing
Lance's retirement came too suddenly
Couldnt prep the reserve driver in time
He's gonna be going for that P-20 xd
I couldn't stop myself from laughing watching this
He's a horrifying man sometimes
And then he's like this
Not to mention, he's got the most German accent of all German accents
If Aston can't get Stroll back in time, they'll have a problem for the next race I've just realised
i like team principals that will do anything in their power to give their drivers even the smallest advantage
toto and horner come to mind the most
anyone rooting against their teams hates them for obvious reasons tho
Drugovich and Vandoorne will be at Le Mans in 2 weeks at the same time as the Canadian GP, and Jak Crawford doesn't have the super license points
yeah both their reserves are both off to IMSA arent they
oh lemans
close enough
well might be time to give a certain mexican, german, or australian a call
those 3 should be the most ready to hop in the car and probably would accept
Jesus, this is bad timing
I didn't think it would become this busy
apparently stroll has been dealing with wrist issues since miami
Mexican is Perez
Australian is Riccardo
German is Vettel I am assuming?
Schumacher
That might be why he's struggling
if he's off to surgery (possible since he had broken his wrists in the past) aston needs to find a 1 race replacement minimum
Schumacher?
One of them is half dead
And the son of tha half dead isn't wanted by anyone
vettel wouldnt do it for 1 race, hes happy with his family and said his kids dont want him racing
Must be painful to have been dealing with it since 2023
Been thinking though. Maybe my spanish king really is washed, no points vs a guy that doesn't have working wrists
They'll totally get Drugovich in at that point
he's at le mans
drugovitch will be at lemans tho XD
I mean his bad luck has been really hurting him as well
true
But will he?
Would you drop le mans for an F1 debut?
Look how good that was for Bearman
bearman was in a ferrari
Well the le mans race is important too
big big difference
drugovitch will ditch lemans to race in a tractor for the POSSIBILITY of scoring 1 or 2 points?
Felipe will be having this conversation if it looks like Stroll is out for hte next race too
yeah he will. entry list for le mans is locked in so Cadillac can't swap him out
If fernando IS in fact off it this season you can look good opposite Alonso. Thats career gold
so either they race with 2, or drugovich is their 3rd
fernando has 0 points but is literally 9-0 to stroll over 1 lap
you think hed lose to drugovitch in a car he doesnt even know
Cadillac wont let that happen with two drivers.
I'm pretty sure it's in the rules to have 3 drivers anyway
I reckon daddy stroll will be on the phone to Checo Perez
i don't know the ACO's regulations too well
as i said
a mexican, an australian and a german
only 3 people in the world that would and could hop in the aston for 1 race
and have something to prove
Tbh, I think the Australian is pretty much done with f1
German?
Mick
i dont know, the mystery driver in that f1 promotional oddly looks like him
Could see Bottas being loaned in for one race
oh yeah i remember that
idk
That'd be interesting
bottas is a good, actually great shout
mercedes would totally do it too
they supply aston this year plus they have nothing to lose
Can't see anyone else with a route in aside from VB or Checo
plus Bottas is Australian
obviously
honourary XD
If cadillac F1 get Perez in their car theyd LOVE to give him another weekend racing. Perez has won in the current regulation set and won for lawrence strolls team. If he's available there isn't a better driver
and perez would like to solidify his seat too
The current regulation set won't matter next season so that's a moot point
ofc
Yes but it'll matter to Aston as a replacement driver
And Lawrence has dropped him once, he seems like the type of guy to not go back to old flames. like red bull not repromoting gasly or albon
if that makes sense
yeah but what do pirelli actually know
https://x.com/formularacers_/status/1929098455797895372 @pale bridge haha
🚨 | Franco Colapinto is still at risk of being replaced mid-season at Alpine.
Details below:
Fucking hell he's been in the car for ten minutes
So was Doohan
i told yall emperor palpatine dont play
at this rate I'll be driving the Alpine by the end of the season
I love Big Flav man
he got the check now hes looking for another one or someone that can drive
but only for the last 300m of the race
Again? Bruh
Would be pretty funny
He was given a lifetime ban for a reason
Fuck it, bring back Nelson Piquet jr
Keeping entertained while waiting for quali...
︀︀
︀︀@DanTicktum watches gaming to pass the time 🤣
︀︀
︀︀@Hankook_Sport #ShanghaiEPrix
then he qualified like shit lmao
🚨 | Red Bull made a mistake with Tsunoda's set-up, admits Technical Director Pierre Wache:
"To be honest, we tried something different.
"Trying a bigger rear wing to see if that would give us performance...
"It was a mistake on our part."
[@shigasportsjp]
@granite tangle they're fucking with him man
theres just no way
Almost like it's better to do your development with a driver that also did testing
They literally do not see beyond Max
Well duh!
Dumbarses saying "it's another bottle from Lando"
Morons, he's lost 1 position
lando and george were kinda caught napping in the start
cost george way way more though
Lap 4 and sky is already chatting about football
sky sports cant concentrate on commentating unless mclaren is 1-2
Neither can F1 TV because they can't commentate
ten million times better
croft is a loud mouth that gets nothing right
f1tv crew at least have an idea about racing
Neither does Alex Jacques, no one is perfect, I'm not paying some stupid amount for F1 TV, I'd rather pay for Sky
Sky F1 is more per month than F1 TV per year
I'd rather have Sky than F1 TV, besides F1 TV is a scam, and you can't get other series on F1 TV whilst you can with Sky
what else do they show on Sky F1?
Indy, Indy NXT, F2, F3, Ferrari Challenge on occasion
skyf1 is available for "free" and i still pay for f1tv instead
i cannot stand croft, and dont get me started on danica patrick
the sky f1 broadcast is martin brundle trying to keep croft from saying anything that is absolutely wrong when his feelings get hurt
If you stand Crofty then just deal with it, and turn it off when you see Danica Patrick
why bother, skyf1 isnt even available properly in my region, and compared to literally every other coverage f1tv is the cheapest
Well, guess what, be grateful they don't have Townsend Bell where he glazes Santino Ferruci at any given moment
I'd rather have pirate streams than F1 TV
Its best for me when my pirate stream is F1TV 🤣✌️
anyone would rather not pay at all
i cant tho cause pirating broadcasts comes with an absurd fine if they catch me
rather keep my ass safe
And it wasn't worth swapping Hamilton and Leclerc around because Leclerc isn't going anywhere fast
Fernando WASHED mate
Ew
leclerc was under a second behind hamilton and hamilton has dropped back 4
3/6 seconds of the gap were for sure wasted waiting for the swap
ferrari always swap them out too late
And they say Lewis is "washed" whilst Fernando isn't doing anything
And that's why it's not worth it
lewis isnt washed but its a shit season hes having
by next year when hes adjusted to the car then i expect from him
this year not at all tho
He just fell off the track I'm just being a haterr
Exactly, he's not doing anything worth while
i think ferrari is working on a disasterclass this afternoon
No that's Alpine
Also people referring to George as "Woody" need to come up with better original terms because it's gotten ancient now
When has anyone ever said that?
yuki with the proper wing aint doing too bad
Because they hate George because of out of context radio messages
liam torpedo lawson
keeping the name alive
tho the second one is 100% albon's fault
oh williams ran out of front wings
It seems the problems of Melbourne 2024 has returned, they've barely learned
They said this track wouldn't suit them all weekend
is liam lawson terrorising kids now 😭
i need that replay
ohhh torpedooo
oh man sainz is having a stinker
not what you want in your home gp
Sauber will move ahead of Alpine if the race ended now
"they're not going to be able to double stack" crofty confidently says as we watch them double stack
that hard is gonna perform like shit
Bye bye max
Everyone behind on slightly used softs... Idk
Lmao even Lewis calling out the safety car for wasting time
oh that hard is trully terrible
