So yeah only aces
Including the ace of aces
Makes sense tho
By that point of the war if you sucked you had no chance in the Luftwaffe
Tehy really were the top pilots
Given not the best planes either
and tehy still were terrors of teh sky
The 190A series were getting old but definetly still a threat
The 262 was almost invulnerable apart from during take off and landing
The Bf-109G-10 (what Hartmann was flying) and K-4 were as fast if not fastest than most allied fighters
Problem is when you are outnumbered by like 30:1 there is not much you can do
The problem with the Luftwaffe in the late war was pilot shortages
And aircraft serviceability
They actually had lots of aircraft
Most of them were just not in a flyable state however
And also fuel shortages
um
why are the "areas of german control" in blue?
Why not?
I would've thought they would be red because evil
When talking tactically, good and evil mean nothing
And if we're talking "evil" then the allies' hands aren't much cleaner
But so were the soviets
true
There was no "good" side, just lesser bad ones
Them invading the neutral Iran, giving famine to India, invading Africa
Also it's just a colour you can swap it for whatever
if the Axis won, history would recall them as the good guys
In older Il-2 games the germans always have blue names and allies red
Even tho it's a russian game
It's just a colour
true
indeed
I mean, it's a simple principle of war
The winners write history
indeed it is
if the axis won, they'd expose the crimes of the allies left and right and make their own disappear like how the allies did
I used to consider it a thing of pride that we lived in a country that fought Nazi Germany
But it turns out America didn't enter the war to save the Jews, they did it because some country ruled by non-white people bombed a base they built on an island that didn't belong to them
And they treated the German prisoners better than they did the Jews they rescued
America entered the war because their navy got bombed by Japan
then Hitler declared war on them
before that they were sending supplies via sea to the UK
nothing had to do with antisemitism
it was a widespread phenomenon
that and the Germans did their best to keep their treatment of jews a secret
many german citizens learnt of the camps after the war when the americans forced them to see them
esssentially yeah
it is a lie of deception
a war is a war
it needs to happen someetimes
I was going to say "it's scary to think what our perspective of World War II would be if the Nazis won" but in reality, it wouldn't be much different
American education didn't have to hide America's crimes in the war, they just kept the focus on the Nazis because foreigners
if the nazis won we would be speaking german and talking about the glorious holy war
although it is stupid how there are still holocaust deniers
As history gets further away, though, it'll be much easier for deniers because there will eventually be no living witnesses left
that and people just don't care anymore
Rare Messerschmitt ME 262 "Schwalbe" flies again over the austrian alps at Airpower Airshow 2022.
Aircraft is owned and operated by the Messerschmitt Stiftung / Messerschmitt Foundation.
Aircraft was newly build and has new General Electric J85/CJ-610 engines instead of the original Jumo 004 jet engines.
Aircraft was piloted by Geri Krähenbühl....

two of the sexiest planes ever made
Siiiick
8th May 1945: last day of WW2 in Europe as the German surrender would come into effect at 2301hrs
3 German pilots scored a victory on that day, as said above
including Major Erich Hartmann, the Ace of Aces
He shot down a Yak-9, bringing his total Kill Score to 352
His aircraft were easily remarked by their black tulip design on the aircraft's cowling
He adopted it sometimes in 1944
Although in practice he rarely flew his personal aicraft, as Soviet pilots recognized it and feared him, instead letting lesser experienced pilots fly them so they would have less chances of getting shot at
He used whatever aircraft were available to remain incognito
His favored tactic for attacking Soviet aircraft involved the element of surprised
He never engaged in dogfights
Instead, he would dive down on aircraft whose pilots had no idea he was there, get to within a few dozen meters from them, as close as possible, on their 6 o'clock, before shooting them down and disengaging
When the Luftwaffe was reinstated after the war, he was recalled into service and flew the Candair Sabre, allegedly his favourite aircraft, which adorned his black tulip design
He was eventually forced to retire in 1970 after opposing the acquisition of Starfighters

In 2016, Eurofighter Typhoon's of Jagdgeschwader 71, his former unit, were (or at least one of them) painted in his black tulip scheme
He died in 1993 aged 71
He also survived Soviet captivity as he surrendered to the Western allies in May 1945 but he was given back to the soviets, returning to Germany years later
Whar a brilliant story
Good way to honor his memory
Mitsubishi A7M2 prototype in a hangar, in 1945. It was meant to be the Zero's successor, however it never reached mass production due to slow development and Japan getting fucked
Bf-109Ga-6, Royal Romanian Air Force, 1944-45
Yes
I thought the logo was mercedes for a sec..
nah
if we count the Benz part
Daimler-Benz made the engines in the Bf-109's
BMW made engines for the Fw-190, He-162
BMW's logo is a propeller against the sky
End of an era: Romania will retire all MiG-21 LanceR aircraft on May 15th
The MiG-21 has been in Romanian service for 61 years
Damn..
I'll be sad to see them go
But they do need their rest after having flown and gotten changed so often
Yeah
Pains me that i'll never get to see one fly in person
But it is indeed time for them to go
Maybe you will get to fly one
As planes get older, the easier they become for casual pilots to get a chance to fly
I mean some folks have gotten chances to fly MiG-15s and Sabres
The Fishbed will most likely join the same fate
Yeah i doubt i'll become a pilot lmao
The Interwar Period saw Romania investing heavily in its military and defence infrastructure. Keen not to be reliant on foreign suppliers, this included licence building aircraft, which proved a stepping stone to the nation building their first indigenous designed fighter aircraft.

18th August 1945: the last, or close to the last aerial fight of WW2 took place.
Japan surrendered on the 15th of August, although the documents would be officially signed on 2nd September.
2 USAAF B-32 Dominators were flying a reconnaissance mission over Tokyo, to make sure the Japanese were complying with the terms and to scout for entry points for the occupation forces. However, either because, as Japanese ace Saburo Sakai claimed, they thought they were being attacked, or as Komachi later claimed, that they could not bear to witness American aircraft flying with impunity over the ruins of Tokyo, Japanese fighters scrambled. One of the Dominators, Hobo Queen II, flying at 6100m, was only lightly damaged. The second one however, flying at around 3000m, was heavily damaged, with multiple crew members wounded, one fatally. The plane still managed to make it back to it's base; no Japanese aircraft were lost either. The next day, the Japanese were forced to remove all propellors from their aircraft
Same frankly..
Hmm..
I don't understand..
?
A new or old Ukrainan look?
Old
I certainly hadn't seen ir before
This was the paint job that they used during joined exercise iirc
I really liked it
Do you know when it is from?
A beautiful scheme for sure
It's possible
And yeah it's a good look
Very nice and colorful
Finnish Air Force Hurricane & F/A-18 Hornet
Supermarine Spitfire and Eurofighter Typhoon in anniversary paintscheme
Jesus chrisr the size difference lol
That's awesome too
Ikr
The Typhoon is a smaller jet too
Indeed!
that makes it even funnier
So like, the Typhoon is already one of the smaller jets and it is that much bigger than an old plane
You cpuld probably park one of those on top of a Flanker lol
Someone first made it a mod for AC7 and then someone else converted it to a GTA 5 mod lol
Today, a Russian Su-35 Fighter Jet, a Su-34 Fighter Jet, and 2x Mi-8 Helicopters got shot down in Russia’s Bryansk Region bordering Ukraine
It’s a significant event for the Russian Military, if Ukraine 🇺🇦 able to do this then Russian aircraft will need to fly far from the border
9940
1446
another day of russia getting absolutely destroyed and me being happy about it
I don't understand how they're mistakingly shooting down their own stuff
This amount of blue on blue on a single day is unprecedented
Today, RAF Typhoons scrambled from Amari Air Base in Estonia to visually identify multiple Russian aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea. The Typhoon fighters, that are currently deployed on @NATO’s Baltic Air Policing Mission, intercepted one An-72 COALER and two Su-27 FLANKER Bs.
474
look at dem sexy flankers
Violating international airspace with a full armament load is probably not the best idea
That is true, but this state of the plane does make it more likely that this violation was an intentional one.
The Flankers also bear the mark of the Russian navy. I suppose it does narrow it down as to which base these planes would have taken off from.
Today is a sad day, as the final most advanced Fishbeds finally become grounded.
I suppose despite all of Romania's efforts, there wasn't enough their modernizations could have done to have saved their Fishbeds.
Doesn't NK have any @mental lantern?
A few countries still have them
But I did speicifcy "most advanced"
Generally speaking only the poorer countries have either the MiG-21 or its Chinese counterpart, the F/J-7
India has a large fleet of modernized 21's
ik one of them shot a Pakistani F-16 down recently
"Old, but not outdated"
oh yeah I do rmeember that
India is more impressive than most would like to give them credit for
Siiiick
Well, I guess both can fulfill different purpses
and doubt the MiG-21s wil stay foeever
Ah, fair
Japanese-captured & rebuilt B-17's around Mt Fuji, Japan, sometimes during WW2.
That's actually pretty interesting
photo's taken today at the withdrawal ceremonies, found on insta
that fucking shape man
so cool
Beautiful formation.
Royal Romanian Air Force Bf-108B-1 & Bf-109E-7's
Hehe
Canadian Hornets usually dont get flashy paintjobs
And when they do
They look fantastic
Eagle II on the ramp
f15?
What a good looking plane
Very mighty the EX is
indeed
The F-15E is one of the few 2 seater planes derived from a single seat plane which looks really good
Stuff like the 2 seater Gripen, 2 Seater Typhoon and 2 seater F-16 don't work
yeah it's Average
And the F-18.. kinda works
Seeing as there are more 2 seater Rhinos tahn there are single seat ones nowadays i feel
And then there is the Flanker which is a beauty
Jesus that's one low ass flight
yesn't
it doesn't look bad
but i much prefer single seaters
kinda like how I feel towards 2 seater Fulcrums
I don't think they look bad but I would take the single seat over it
Hehehe
it does look a lot less boring
Indeed
it tends to come in the boring ASG all the time
so when it comes in something different
be it this or aggressor red air stuff
It shines
On July 17, 1969, the day of the piston engine fighter aircraft finally past.
But it certainly went out fighting.
This is the story of Captain Soto of the Honduran Air Force, who scored three kills in a day in what would be the final piston engine dogfights.

And ...
That's one wicked livery
Yeee
New-Zealand's best "operational" fighter aircraft
really? hahaha
I thought for being Austrlia's neigbours they'd be sorta similarly armed
they don't have a single fighter jet
So much for all that Bravado then
There's F-22's in Romania RN
if it were a few weeks earlier we could've seen F-22's and MiG-21's flying together
Really? That's super cool
I guess it was due to the F-22s getting stationed to make sure Russia doesn't come too west
Wut
Meh exercises happen all the time
Could be
But Russia is literally being invaded by itself rn I think they got enough on their plates for now I doubt they're gonna attack NATO any time soon
Of course, it's still something they'd probably wanna be wary of
Man it's such a pretty plane, especially from close up
Lithuania?
no
Just had a F-16 fly at low level over my home
150m alt max
Probably lower
Actually no probably 250m max
Idk
Low in any case
damn that's the historic flight
i don't know what the two on the left are
middle is a Grippen
Right is a Draken
Yes

Really cool
It may sound biased
But I swear we have the best liveries for planes
holy hell
That looks really cool
the red is beautoful
Strange livery to homage though
looks good
Yeah Koenigsegg uses the ghost squadron emblem cuz they used one of their hangars as a production facility (i think?) to say thanks
Hahaha
So wait
That's really their story?
Koeinigsegg is based on a real life fighter squadron?
Holy hell now i like them more
Yessir
Yes
There is a massive airshow here in September, i really want to go
Demo teams, F-16's, Typhoon's, Hornets, F-35's, Spitfire, B-25, ...
That sounds incredible
Definitely visit it if you can

The best of 2 worlds
Pffft
The contrast in tech
Those MiGs aren't even that out of date in terms of the tech used in them
Yeah
But
They have an element of surprise
As in you have a random chance of your mig falling out of the sky due to control lock-up or engine failure
That is true
They become less reliable as they get older
- Sir we've been invited to RIAT! What do we send? We don't have LanceR's anymore and F-16's are too common!
- Send the Shark
- The what?
- I said send the Shark
That'd be extremely cool if true
Found on Insta
My new wallpaper
The Phantom isn't my favourite jet
But in blue
It's just so good
Same with the F-16/F-2
It looks really good indeed
Japanese air self defense force planes always look so good with their colors and designs on their bodies
It is a naisu
Which means?
Oh
omagah
It was because the plane was originally designed as a navy plane
Yet every other division got essentially the same plane
So the features that were meant for naval operations carried over
Must be a pain to clean these
Yup
Hehe
In May I used to see plenty of them training
Really? That's super cool
I think I sent some pictures
2 jets
craziest spotting ever
WW2 fighter jet vs 4th gen fighter jet
Good lord the size difference hahaha
Yup
It's funnier since the Typhoon isn't even the biggest out there
Imagine the German ww2 jet next to a flanker
thats not cute thats creepy
he looks like he is showing his balls
or idk he is a dick
hehe, yeah once you see it you can't unsee it
Apparently these pics got uploaded for the first time today or yesterday
By some dude on reddit
Oooooh
So they're very fresh secret information
That's fantastic
It does make me happy to see more of this plane
It is cool
Wait, they made a jet for fat pilots?
hahaha
it's hilarious cause XL literally stands for Extra Large on this plane's case
new Ukrainian Su-27 Camo scheme
It is quite a cool look
Though is it really the new camo? I feel like this was their old camo
From what I can gather yes
Might be a one-of
Assuming there are multiple still flying
it's hard to imagine given how many get shot down
well Ukraine doesn't disclose their losses obviously
and Russia claims they've destroyed like 4 times what the Ukrainians had before the war
I suppose there's still quite a few flankers left
otherwise they wouldn't bother
Hopefully when they get F-16's they'll get good use out of them
I will say that the new camo looks very F-22 like
And i think it suits it very nicely
Though I also liked the blue digital camo a lot
They probably won't be getting them for the time of war
Since training and equipping takes far too much time
Visual losses for both side show they've both had heavy losses
Russia more in comparison considering the size of their military
Old one was blue
there was one before the old blue digitial camo one
Isn't that the ghost of Kiev or whatever
Ghost of Kiev doesn't exist
It was a morale boost propaganda
But the downed planes number was real
The squadron which defended the capital and downed those planes were actually rewarded a honorary ghost of Kiev patch
Oh
Yeah the story is basically that
Agreed
The
@RoyalAirForce
intercepted two Russian Tu-142 long-range maritime patrol bombers this morning, north of Scotland.
The quick reaction alert Typhoon jets were supported by a Voyager tanker and have now returned to
@RAFLossiemouth
Way ro keep things low profile Russia
I am kinda surprised they have any planes left after this long into the war
They're using them in a rather smart manner
or well trying to
no point in trying to engage Russian planes
too risky
let the ground-based air defences take care of those if possible
and use the planes against drones, cruise missiles, ground targets...
that's my take on it anyway
Yeah tats mainly the use they see
Must be cool having your own MiG-29
Yup
As cool as your bank account quickly sinking into negative numbers
Especially one infamous for unreliability
You never see a privately owned F-16 or F-15
Why?
Well because countries that operated the MiG-29 are fed up with the maintenance cost and their frequency
So everyone is slowly getting rid of them
There is a single private owned F-16
Really? show if you can

All Im asking for
It would be cool to see jet fighters in race inspired liveries
@mental lantern Mini I just thought of something and I dont think it would be a good idea now lmao
F-15J with Itasha
Weirdly enough I think it's been done
Well not wirh itashas
But with Japanese icon inspired looks
Like sakura trees and such
I mean people get them because they like them i think
Not because they're good investments
Or because of reliability
A MiG-23 crashed at an American airshow a few days ago
I didn't hear that
There's a video of the crew ejecting
w
Yes
F-16s, Typhoons and Gripen from the sound of it
Nice
Same way the USSR got everything from the USA and UK in WW2
Food, fuel, clothes, trucks, tanks, planes, ...
Except this time it's Russia that's gonna get rekt
They did?
Yes
Well not if you asked the soviet officials
I remember hearing/reading that at one point like a 1/3 or 1/4 of the entire soviet air force was made out of american/british planes
The USSR may not have won the battle in the East (at least not so easily) without the Arctic convoys bringing in supplies from the West
Here's an example
The P-39
And later the P-63
Were pretty much made on purpose for the Soviets
Since the western allies didn't like them
Hmm..
The tales of Russian incompetence continue
That they will simply never be able to win
The soviet pilots notoriously hated the Spitfire but loved the P-39
Soviet Sherman
Karma is a bitch
You get lend lease to beat nazi ass
Then you invade your peaceful neighbor because you think you're a superpower
Lend lease turns against you
Now your ass gets kicked
(wikipedia, take it with a grain of salt)
Does feel a bit trippy
Hated it? How come?
By the end of June 1944 the United States had sent to the Soviets under lend-lease more than 11,000 planes; over 6,000 tanks and tank destroyers; and 300,000 trucks and other military vehicles
They got outdated models
Often worn
And it wasn't really fit for such harsh conditions
Why did the Soviets not like the Spitfire, a plane that generally drew favourable assessments from most other nations that used it? Let's find out!

to be Honest I don't blame you
Did they leave our roundels there out of lazyness or respect
Probably the former
it's likelt the image was sent from much before
I don't think that image relates to current events
It's likely just the MiG-29s of Slovak gone to do excerises with allies
H
It's not necessarily a recent pic
this is allegedly an ex-slovak one
That makes sense
Not a plane but still sick
Thsy does look very sick
Seeing some interesting stuff tomorrow
if they let us in
there's a viggen too
That's sick
The MiGs still fly
Today gonna be fun
:0
Man this is a spectacle
That was a realy quick take off
this visit was so worth it
Yeah
Couldn't stay till the end cuz brother and father were tired of the heat
Had the F-35 fly above us as we were driving away
Sat in a F-16 cockpit though
It is
Having a fighter jet go full throttle near you is the best feeling in the world
Even when it's hundreds of meters away and you wear earplugs
When the engine turns towards you, you hear it
And most importantly you feel it

I've fallen in love with this danish f-16

‘chinese spy balloon’
One of them was a Chinese spy baloon
that one has been identified
So I don't know if the 2 UFOs were also ballons or something else
honestly i dont even know why people like the f22
ah
It looks amazing
And it's probably the best air superiority fighter in the world
Even though it's old now
Saturday July 29th, 2023.
I mean what is there that can beat it
Su-57 is terrible
Chinese planes we know pretty much nothing about
Imagine making a 5th gen fighter without making it stealthy
Not that they're making them in the first place they're just ground targets at this point
The few that exist
F-35 is a capable plane too but it's compromised
It tries to be a multirole, a vtol/stol jet and a carrier plane all at the same time
And it's just fat
I've seen it in person and it's massive
they're also easy to lose lol
Well they have some stealth
But the Su-57's strength comes mainly in close combat encounters
Which is rather irrelevant these days
Since eeverything is done at range
How is the Su-57 supposed to approach a Raptor/Lightning when the radar signature of the felon is 10-100 times larger
Also
If DCS is anything to go by, the Raptor still wins
But reality is often different
In this video, we take a closer look at the overhyped and underwhelming SU57 Felon - and why it might not be quite the impressive fifth-generation fighter that many think it is. Despite its sleek design and impressive manoeuvrability, this aircraft falls short in key areas such as stealth capabilities, outdated systems, and limited production nu...
Well, reality is what reality is
on paper the F-22 should indeed have the upperhand
The Su-57, even based on releaseed info, doesn't have much of a way to defend itself when it's not really hidden
Does it get better than this?
Eyyyy, hehehe
The F-14 and MiG-29 do indeed look good together
Lucky that one country has both, and too bad that country is mine
the malaysian air force also has both american and russian fighters
Indeed, Su-30MKMs
An american navy pilot said he got to train/fight against malaysian Su-30's and he respected them a lot

an american in a russian jet is crazy
Well it's not that crazy given everything else that is happening today..
hehe, it's pretty incredible seeing these together
WHAT
Nato ftw
This forum is called aviation why are all of them war planes
Here's a Pokemon plane
Aww
das crazy
hmm..
Rafales are such good looking planes
"RMAF SU-30MKM Flanker; a USAF F-22 Raptor 154th Wing, F-15C 131 FS, an RMAF MIG-29N Fulcrum; an BAE Hawk; and an RMAF F/A-18 Hornet. (jason robertson)"
i never realized how huge the Raptor is
It's a big boi
Also man this looks cool
Video shot at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota as 2 SU-27 Flankers stop for a visit on their way to Headquarters ATC in Virginia. I did not shoot the video. I was there though and got a real close up look of this impressive jet fighter.

Different times
That looks really good
flanker big boi
It really is a big one
It always amazes me
What mussuem is this though to have all these planes of different origin
USAF Museum
They have Flanker anf mig? That's a surprise
I know they did buy some Fulcrums but never knew rhat had flankers too
Flanker they got this month
It's an ex-Ukrainian one i think
Used by civilians in the USA
And probably by the air force for training
Quite interesting..
Literal B7R haha
crazy
It's cool, also it's a fun way to find out the capabilities of the aircraft
Maybe some of what they learned was later used on the updated versions of both the 15 and 16
Perhaps yeah
Kinda doubt it
Those planes are much older than when the Su-27's became available to the USA
even with updated models
almost nobody is buying F-15/16's
That's a point
Big boi
It's so big man
Your mum
I like planes
plane hits you
Oh man, German Phantoms always look so cool

it's gonna be a few years before they arrive in country though
they'll stay in Texas for a while for the first pilots to train on
Bureaucracy
yeah fair enough
i mean
the training center's there
why bring the planes over
for no one to fly them?
it is what's happening right now with Ukrainian pilots as well
i know the Netherlands sent F-16's to Romania for Ukrainian pilots to train on
yeah for them to be in closer vicinty
and how some Ukrainian pilots are in US to be trained
NATO pilot training center is in Texas
pretty much every european pilot goes there for training
Yeah more often than not
These planes' liveries always make them so interesting to look at
It's still rather amazing how they managed to keep them operational for so long
Look closely
I don't undeerstand
huh.. it looks so real though..
They be looking good
Yup
Damn, these are some cool paintschemes
That's quite a unique camo they have
Spitfire commemoration
The first Belgian F-35 is complete. F-35A TR-3 Block 4 FL-001, factory code AY-01
That looks pretty good
Afaik it's the only F-35 operator other than Denmark to have coloured roundels
Doesn't the RAF have F-35s?
@fallow drift @mental lantern ^
Oh nvm they're not using the coloured roundel, bruh
Just plain white
The fuck is wrong with just using the normal coloured roundel
Less stealthy i suppose
I mean if you can see the coloured roundel I'm pretty sure you've lost the stealth lol
By the time you see the roundel you're probably already dead lol
Therefore you don't see it anyway
Everything on the F-35 is so monochrome
It's called "Low-visiblity"
Most modern aircraft have that
I don't really get their point, they just make an aircraft look less colorful and interesting
Not as in seeing it
But as in certain kinds of paint can reflect more radar waves than others
The aircraft's coating is just as important stealth-wise as it's shape
Damn that's a lot of bullets
Holy shit
That's always funny ti me
another one
Hahaha
It's hilarious rhat they managed to keep count given how common bird strikes are
yes
They look good
And good work on that
Nowadays with how incompetent Russisa seems
i have no idea whether to consider them a threat anymore or not
America witnesses German Jet Fighter for the First Time during world war two
#ww2 #history
It's fake
It's a popular hoax but it's not real
What is not real
The reaction might but the plane is very real
I assume it's from some documentary
Which means it's a reenactment
I thought as much
Add 2 Su-30SM to that
Patriot doing work
6 Flankers shot down this week
I don't think so
but they won't be so bold anymore
especially with F-16's coming soon
I doubt they'll care
as they not continued to have since the start of the war almost 2 years ago
not a plane but still beautiful: Strv-122A main battle tank in Ukrainian Service
That looks more like an MBT itself
that is a lovely livery for the F-15
The thunder struck during the perfect time
Greek camo slaps
Their camo is indeed very nice and very unique
2nd best looking Phantoms too
after the Japanese
German Phantoms are also up there
Those look superb
That's a photo worth a lifetime
Mom can we get Blue Angels?
No we have Blue Angels at home
The blue angels at home:
Pfft, I'll let you have that one
Rusty
a long time at sea can make a ship ugly
the sea is not kind
bit of surface rust won't bring a ship down though
Better
yes
That's pretty cool, it'd excite me too
Hehe, thanks alot
That's alot of F-16 goodness, all gathered together
Eurofighter and J-10
Rather funny seeiny them together
The most badass scene
That's so cool, love how it lools
One dirty F-35B
That's been used well
That probably means it's gonna be in the hanger being maintained for days lol
