At least the addition of drift tires has helped that
I understand most games don't have dedicated drift tracks
Which are tracks meant specifically for cars that even when low powered can kick out a slide
And most have too many long sweeping and wide turns
But NFS is a fun based game frankly
it doesn't need to be terribly realistic for it to work
And if it finally works with the new update for Unbound, all the better
I prefer something like Juiced 2's drifting to Heat
Not because it's realistic, but because it is fun and it needs focus in a different way that still keeps it engaging

to drift in Unbound you kinda just throw your car about, you don't need to do much else
obviously you steer to kinda angle correct, but tbh you mainly steer to try and keep the slide going, not so much about angle cos distance is still king
You can't overcook it and spin out, you just reach a point of understeer
unless you hit a curb and have the fun physics glitch that's plagued the game since launch
also you don't need throttle control, just full throttle pretty much all the time
Add in the generally straight map to this you kinda aimlessly waggle along the roads to win
It's hard to properly explain but those who have played the game should understand where I'm coming from
it's better than before deffo, that was just normal handling but fighting to keep your wheels spinning
It's just still not good, really
It does show the small team on Unbound is trying to improve the game though, which is very good, hopefully they can keep that up and give us something special next game rather than worse versions of experiences you can get in other current and older games

I understand what you mean then. Admittedly, I still don't like Heat's drifting despite that, but I do see what you mean and to a degree, I do agree.
It's hard to get drifting right in games, but I guess it depends on alot of trial and error and user feedback to see if most approve or not
It is indeed important the spirit that the developers behind Unbound, all 5 of them still working that is, give enough of a crap to go through this much effort to not only update all the car's grip handling but add a new drift handling altogether, effectively throwing everything that they had made previous into the bin
It takes alot of work and alot of heart
I also do hope that the next game goes beyond everything even more
in every way, but of course, given as NFS is now a low budget title, I doubt they can do much else even if they want to
This franchise severely needs a new completely different direction entry to shake things up, it's felt like we've gotten the same game back to back since 2015

I'm pretty sure every single map, and even real life cities are mostly straights lmao
Even Drift City's map is mostly straights
There's a reason Gran Turismo only does drift courses in certain sections
it's why specific drift courses exist
That's why most of Unbound's courses are up in the mountains

a number of the tracks have long straight sections which don't lead themselves to drifting, what's not to get
if the handling was more in depth chaining shallower corners or like something yknow
Or hell they could have used some of the unused tighter backstreet sections in the city for courses, particularly on A tier

I'm not saying it's the worst thing in the world, definitely an improvement and as I say I do appreciate the attempt but I find it quite limiting
Even attempting a reverse entry is literally impossible in it's current state, and the floaty FiveM kinda handling generally does really well at making that mad easy
