but Black Box had thrown that out the window by Undercover

The M3 GTR belonged to Darius, Darius gave it to the player so he can gtfo of Palmont (because i guess the supra would be too notorious or something) then the player got to rockport, Razor wanted that car so he sabotaged it, then the player instead of telling everyone or something he just decided to become most wanted in that city, just to come back to Palmont in that same car, somehow Cross followed the player and caught up (i doubt the player wasn't speeding away) and then did shady shit with Darius, who somehow knows him

too many plotholes, mostly cause Black Box wasn't exactly good at writing a story

and the M3 is a mystery again

ProStreet made the Supra canon since it's been left behind at Super Promotion

Heat's story was also imo pretty good

Heat should've been more of a revenge story and had Joe as the player AND main protagonist

its only there when you're in a way higher end car

otherwise the game just feels sluggish

Heat did all the gameplay right, but messed up many other aspects

2015 did sense of speed better, Unbound did sense of speed better, and payback felt largely the same

So the cops aren't too hard for lower skilled players after linkups or whatever

But Gauntlets were ruthless

in my playthrough of unbound i never got busted not even once, but in heat i had times where i skill issued

Because in Unbound your car can actually handle hits

the combat in Heat... true tbh

the car combat in heat is a disgrace to the idea of ramming

Heat's combat is disgraceful to NFS as a franchise

only shunts really deal damage and side-slams are just suicide

Basically you can rear end a crown vic and it'll take them out if you hit them hard enough (top speed while he's just cruising) and you lose half your health in return

speaking of heat's cops, why is the Explorer shown everywhere but never used as a unit

Ghost failed to bring in a LOT of things

Ghost was dead before Heat even came out

I think Criterion should've made Heat with Ghost there for support

in heat's lifespan, forza and the crew were getting big updates every few weeks or months, and then Fh5 came out and got a few more, but NFS Heat got a new AM which was basically already in the game but with a new bodykit and a McLaren F1 with an ugly bodykit and then yup

that would be a good way to do it, like a mirroring of Rivals

Could be a reason as to why cops have been ramping up in Heat, Unbound, and NL

I think he was a cop, transferred to try and catch you (hence he was so aggressive in MW05 start) then became a bounty hunter specifically to chase you alone

Ghost was effectively shuttered before Heat launched
Heat became the best selling game in NFS history

then we got Criterion and one of the worst selling games in NFS history

I think I can say that safely looking at statistics

and I blame the marketing more than anything

and I know that because the first NFS games people think of whenever I end up mentioning NFS are either Payback or Heat

I tell them about Unbound and they go "There's a new NFS???"

So a ton of people don't even know it exists

That's where they mostly fucked up, is marketing

Unbound flew under the radar

marketing didn't help but the game also was less appealing than Heat

if you were there during and after the reveal that was clear

also, Heat didn't have crazy marketing either

plus Unbound wasn't revealed until a good month from launch

as for the appeal, I only really see that affecting the nfs fans

though granted there are people who are playing Unbound as their first NFS, either that or it was Heat or Payback

but a few of them go in expecting to hate it and end up loving it
