The current questions in the roles section shouldn't be required imo because not everyone wants notification pings, so it's impossible to remove them unless you go to #roles. Best to keep the notif/colour/etc kind of questions unrequired

Pinging everyone every week to vote on clips has more negatives than positives, such as people leaving the server, ignoring pings (lowering engagement), devaluing the @everyone pings or muting the server overall. If you want medal to be a community, you should reserve pings for important announcements like those already set up in #anouncements and #ongoing and whatnot.

Revamp the questions channel into an organized forum channel solely for support and questions (with different tags) and get a dedicated support team of 3-6 members spread across different timezones to help with support, right now support is basically nonexistent during night time in my timezone.

imo "support" or "help" would be a better fitting name, "questions" seems a bit general and ambiguous. having a specific name, e.g. support/help shows the channel is dedicated to providing help and makes it easier to know where to go for support

Make ping roles optional

Ping roles are currently mandatory in the server's onboarding configuration meaning you can't remove all ping roles, you must have at least one. This seems like an issue with how the server is set up and less of an intended feature, since many people here don't want to be forced into having ping roles.

Multi-key commands please?

I would like the ability to set multiple keys for hotkey commands in Medal. I used to have the record function set to Alt+Q with Shadowplay, but I stopped using Shadowplay because it wouldn't tell me when it failed to launch on startup and I was missing many great moments. Medal has been much better, but the best hotkey I could think of for clipping was F9...but I know of some games that use the entire F line, including F9. If I play one of those games, I'll either be recording frivolous videos every time I press F9, or doing something in-game every time I record a video intentionally, and that's just not ideal. Plus, I have to move my hands to press the key when I'd prefer to just use a command I'm already in position for that doesn't trigger any major in-game effects. Can we please make it possible to set multi-key commands for more streamlined usage?

in big discord servers booster chats are pretty common, and there isn't one. so you could get some extra perks by being a booster, like getting announcements before anyone else does for example but there could be so many different ways of having these benefits to have more reasons to become a booster on this server.

Length Based Storage Limit

Please may Medal add an additional storage limit option so we can choose to have the oldest recordings automatically deleted when a total recordings length threshold has been reached? This is the way Steam Game Recording works and it would be great if we could match this functionality in Medal.

For example, if I were to set my recording threshold to 120 minutes, and the sum of the lengths of all my recordings is greater than that, the oldest recordings will be deleted until the sum of the lengths is less than, or equal to the threshold.

This functionality is great if storage is not a concern, but you still want to keep the last 𝑥 minutes of footage.

Make Discord levels great again!

Utilise Levels more in the Discord server. Personally, I believe there are lots of people here that want to chat more and enjoy themselves, make friends etc. But they don't really have much to aim for, let's be honest. The level system is in, even gives you roles, but they are at the bottom of the hierarchy, and really don't mean a lot. Bring them closer to the top, give them a role icon (more then happy to make them for you if you can't find any/want custom medal ones) and give people something to earn. This community is great, and can really thrive if it had things to achieve/earn. Yes there is achievements but they don't really mean anything.

Restricting Giveaways

As nice as it is to let everyone get giveaway prizes, there are users getting rewards that have never spoken to the community here. Giveaways are supposed to bring communities together, challenge them and give them something to be excited about when talking in their place of interest. Even if the giveaways were fewer, it'd be nice to restrict them to Level 3+ at all times, and do donator/nitro giveaways as you've already done. It's a shame to see rewards given to those who literally press a button. You don't win the lottery without putting up your own stake, do you...? Having the bot set up to give you a role each week when you've surpassed a certain criteria would be golden for this too. That's my say, at least.

since there is a cooldown for no reason on threads for discord now there is two options to make the threads easier to create

the first option is to remove the cooldown for the channel as it used to be, as this is the less likely option as the channel was messy and would be hard to moderate to remove the messages that are unrelated because people dont create threads

or

the second option which is to add a suggestion bot already existing or just code one to automatically create threads on every message sent so you wouldnt need to wait 1 hour to create each thread

Overall Basic Fixes and Suggestions for the Medal Discord Server

Add Activity Roles depending on User Activity and make a Select Roles option to actually select the role you want to display besides your name. Alot of people complain about that and it would help alot of people. Add Instructions for future giveaways so people dont ask the same stuff over and over and again and disguise it in a channel named something like this: Before you access SERVER read this or smth like that. Overall basic suggestions that could potentially help prevent from any of these mistakes

Please fix your app. Any time I play on PC with a PS5 controller and I hit options to check who's online or to switch game channels it saves a clip. My clip saving button is F8 not options. It's annoying because then it takes up space and I have to spend time filtering thru all the bs clips to find the ones that really matter. It's been a thing for forever, please fix.

Medal is an excellent tool for clipping and sharing gameplay, but currently, it lacks support for macOS. With the growing number of gamers and content creators using macOS, adding macOS compatibility would significantly expand Medal’s user base. Many popular games, such as League of Legends, Minecraft, and various Steam titles, run on macOS, and players would benefit from a seamless clipping experience.

Implementing macOS support would allow more users to take advantage of Medal’s features, such as instant replay, cloud syncing, and social sharing. This would also help Medal compete with other clipping software that already supports macOS. Given the increasing demand for gaming and content creation on Apple devices, macOS support would be a valuable addition.

This suggestion is inspired after the recent mistake by the game "Galaxy Defenders" used gambling/RNG to make the quest harder. Not only is it more annoying, it also wastes peoples time. Having RNG in a quest makes random people get a better chance, but also make the people that are actually interested in the game less likely to be benifited.

There used to be roblox tournaments back in freshcut around every month and we also did a few in medal... but its been around half a year since. The last proposed roblox tournament was "delayed" but ended up getting cancelled. I think we should have another one of these roblox tournaments (e.g. for bedwars, rivals, jailbreak, murderers vs sheriffs). We would obviously use the old tourneybot for such a tournament. The cost to host one of these tournaments (prize-wise) would be no more than the cost of a making a robux quest in medal, so it would be nice to do a tournament instead of a robux quest once in a while.

You know that people are saying "Check Pinned Messages!" in general, for me it counts as xp farming. So, how does this work? People set keywords for the bot to check, and after toggle it on. For example, Hi guys I didn't get the badge but I got jumpscared by the monster. The keywords are: didn't, get, badge, monster, jumpscared. If more than half are there, the bot sends the message to check pinned messages. This is so people cannot farm xp, and its automated.

Improve the Economy System of Discord MEDAL.tv

This can be implemented by properly configuring server permissions and implementing roles to grant those permissions to the user, like a small game!

To implement this currency, it can be done very simply by using a bot external to Medal.tv (the easiest option, but one that implements less of a platform-user connection), or more interestingly by implementing this economy within the Medal bot on Discord and the Medal platform.

[Option 1] A bot external to Medal.tv

Basically a system like the one that currently exists with Mee6 (or any other bot), but configured correctly to be functional. It should also include the ability to acquire roles that grant exclusive perks and award more points for being active in the chat.

[Option 2] A Medal.tv system

This system consists of giving you X number of points for uploading clips to the platform, X number of points for likes and views (an amount previously agreed upon by the platform), X number of points for sending messages on Discord, etc. These points could also be earned through Quests and by redeeming exclusive Medal promotional codes for completing objectives or collaborations (these latter points would not count towards the daily point limit I'll discuss later). Each day you would have a point limit (let's say 100, for example), and these points could be claimed for different prizes such as:

• A symbolic medal for your Medal profile (like the Discord orb medal)
• Discord permissions (nickname permissions, custom emoji permissions, image permissions in general, etc.)
• New customizations for your Medal profile (new backgrounds for example or animations when someone or you load )
• 1 month/2 weeks/1 week of Medal Premium (this would obviously be the most expensive item)
• Exchange them for currencies agreed upon with the platforms (imagine being able to exchange your points for Robux, for example!)
• Countless other options!

I personally took it upon myself to design an example of what this currency could look like, which I've dubbed "Medalons", although I also considered other options like "Medal Points", "Medalyns", "Medalbits", "Medalbyte" or "Medalites."

I've attached the design I created below (it's not perfect since I'm not a graphic designer, but I think it's more than enough to give a clear idea of ​​what it could look like).

Solving the problem of scam images

There are several ways to do this.

[1] | Independent of other suggestions
We currently have a leveling system that grants you roles and doesn't take them away once you reach the next level. To make this moderation functional, we would simply need to configure it so that only people with level 5 or higher can send images through #general and other channels where these bots usually spam (unless that channel is specifically dedicated to uploading images). Doing this wouldn't display the image itself, but the image link would. How do we delete it? Simply configure a bot to delete images (whether links or uploads) from users unless they have the level 5 role!

Note: I personally recommend creating a new lower role (Level 1/2) so as not to bother new users who are just starting to communicate. Reaching level 2 only takes about 50 messages!

[2] | Dependent on other suggestions
Basically, it's doing what point 1 says, only instead of it being a level role, it's a role purchased through the server/platform economy.

Community Support Channel / Q&A Channel

I know this is already a widely contested idea for some reason though there really isn't any downsides to having a Community Support / Q&A chat.

9 out of 10 times a new user entering the Medal server shows up with a question regarding the editor or an event which either gets ignored and unanswered, or is directed to the Support Channel-- even then some folks have already chatted with the Medal bot and just want a user or staff member to assist.

With the addition of the new editor, a variety of the questions present in the Discord have recently to do with new features, missing tools from the old editor, how to's, and bugs. While I'm aware the majority of the questions asked in the previous Community Support chat could be answered by directing the user to the bot, it does no harm to have a channel where users and staff that are experienced with the editor can help filter through the questions and assist with the questions that require a simple workaround or some guidance.

Customer support should be a prime focus, especially when undergoing a massive revamp of the editor where everyone is relearning old tools, and trying their hands at some of the new features; and if I've seen anything drive away new users it's coming in to ask for help only to be ignored or put through the bot without a second glance at their question no matter how simple the problem.

If there are any questions that continue to flood the Q&A tickets where chatting with the support bot is a must, then an FAQ channel or even a pinned comment can help with directing.

Medal users and staff should be encouraging newcomers with bug problems to share their logs with staff that are able to assist and handle the reoccurring problems that users keep bringing up rather than ignoring them.

a "trap" channel to catch the scam bots

add a “trap” channel at the very top of the server to stop scam bots

basically, you make a channel that scam bots will message in first since they usually go from top to bottom sending messages in each available channel. in that channel, you clearly say not to send anything there and set up an automatic punishment (like a 14d timeout) if someone does send a message. and if any normal member decides to send a message there after plenty of CLEAR warnings, do not unmute them.

how to do it:

• create a new channel and move it to the very top of the channel list
• name it something obvious like “do-not-send” or “warning”
• put a message explaining that sending anything there will result in a timeout
• use a bot (most bots have automations where you can do something like: if user sends message > delete > timeout) to instantly timeout anyone who sends a message in that channel
• make sure normal members can still see it, but don’t give any special permissions

this will work because most scam bots automatically post in every channel, so they get caught instantly in the FIRST CHANNEL before sending links or images anywhere else

it might not stop every single scam, but it massively reduces them and makes moderation easier.

The reason why i want this its cause i want to clip my game play but ther is no clipping software for linux and i personally think linux is better for optimization so it would make it so you have more stable fps/game play so medal would work better on linux

Add a medal AI for clipping and similar things.

Instead of just having a voice recognition of "medal clip it" or similar, have it to where you either have an AI or multiple options for different clips. Such as "clip the last two minutes" or "clip that kill" for specific functions. The voice recognition might need a bit of work though due to a few mistakes usually happening.
