Can you help me, guys? It's still giving me this error, here's the full log (all debugging included) 🙏

I've been suffering from this for over a month now, Kyber doesn't work at all. I cant start or join any server! 😢

NO cmd. It doesn't start, only the game launching button appears and that's it. Then I get an Origin error code. After the error code appears, the game pops up for a second, but then it crashes immediately and throws me back to the Kyber main menu. I've already mentioned this in several conversations...
If you have time, could you take a look at it?

Other than it being very late from where I am, I have not been able to find an actual solution to this error. I may get back to you unless you find a solution.

Here I'm gathering information on what I've done so far...

#

What I did, but it didn't change anything so far:

  • I reinstalled Kyber 2 times, and the game 1 time, I verified the files in the EA app, but no change
  • I put all Kyber-related folders on the exceptions list again, I also allowed everything in windows defender (inbound rules that affect Kyber or Maxima)
  • I tried turning off, turning on, restarting my computer, but nothing. I tried restarting the game through the EA app, it worked perfectly. No crash etc... but no
  • I tried killing off Kyber and Maxima-related tasks in Task Manager and restarting them, but no change.
  • I tried running Kyber in Admin mode too (I know it's not supposed to be that way), but nothing happened.
  • I tried updating drivers, updating Windows, all kinds of programs that I usually use, but nothing.

What I found strange and interesting about the logs are this:

Yes, so these things are very interesting, on the other hand, the fact that the program thinks that Kyber is down(even though it apparently works)

It should also be noted that I'm playing on Win10, and the game is from Epic Games, I don't know if that matters.

So that's all, there's one more thing I tried.....what if the epic launcher or EA app is open (I know it shouldn't be, but it's worth a try)

Nothing happens with EPIC...BUT if the EA APP is open and I open Kyber like that, the game starts, but only in vanilla offline mode, but I can't connect. Of course, there was no Kyber cmd here either, but it wasn't a bad idea to try.

Hi! One more thing came to mind, and I've really run out of options.... What if the problem is that there are non-ASCII characters in the installation. I mean both with Kyber launcher and Maxima....

Since my Windows default language is Hungarian, and it usually has accented letters and special characters that are not in English.

AND what if I download an English language for windows and it would work then???

Interestingly, this was my installation so far, I didn't change these from the beginning.....but then it worked without errors.

Or is the problem with the Kyber mods folder? It's not the default either, it's in a separate folder, but it's like this: C:\Kyber Mods

You're very welcome! Thank you very much for answering! Finally someone who answered me properly. So yes, I understand that this problem is as frustrating for you as it is for me. I don't understand what's going on either.....probably the main reason for the problem is that the Kyber command prompt doesn't appear. I also hope there will be another Kyber launcher update soon, maybe that will fix it! 😉

Yeah, I mean for me, the appdata folder is in the users registry, which was a problem because my username had an "Ä". And that's where the armchair developers folder is. The rest of the files are in program files or program files x86

So for you, the "Felhasználók" should be just "Users" under the hood when the computer runs any commands. It just displays it in Hungarian because of your settings. It's the "Felhasználó" that doesn't run by a different name when commands are executed and causes problems. So I think another user might be the only solution for now unless it's fixed at kyber's end somehow

Hi! Yes, it's working now. All I had to do was create a new account, but of course that resets all the settings and stuff, but it works. It's not that urgent right now because I won't have much time to play, but at least we know what the problem is! 😉

Good news! 🙂

We have found the problem! The problem was caused by non-ASCII characters in Maxima path, that's the only reason for the error. We had to create a new Windows account and it works, the command prompt appears, and Kyber launches fine.

But of course this is only a workaround, since this resest your profile and you have to setup everything again, it shouldn't be like this.

The only solution is to revert the setting that disabled non-ASCII characters in the last update** ([2.0.0-beta6] - [21/8/25]).**

'"Fixed an issue where it was possible to set a path with non-ASCII characters as the mod path."

Just to let you know, I had Kyber installed in the same place and it worked fine. It was only after this Kyber update that it stopped working altogether!

Use the netplwiz command to change the username for the profile

Use the "wmic useraccount get name,SID" command to find the correct SID for my account

Open up regedit, and go to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList<SID>

Edit the "ProfileImagePath" to the correct username

Go into the C:\Users and rename the folder to the correct name.

Run this command mklink /d "Full path of old profile folder name" "full path of new profile folder name"
