Hades 2 Olympus Summit ||So I misread what one of the Dio boons does and as a result can't see my hp bar and am now having the most anxiety inducing fight ever against Typhon since you can't see his bloody health bar either||

Needed better magick restoration though, Aphrodite's passive 10/s just didn't cut it - or didn't work reliably on bosses / Typhon? Unclear. But my damage tanks when I go OOM 😅 ||

||Pro tip: mirrored thrasher has perfect synergy with with a Hestia boon, I forget the name, but at common level 2 or rare it gives +6 magic back each attack, meaning you get more than you spend from the upgrade||

Hades 2 more main story thoughts ||The more I sit with it, the less I like the direction of the story. The first game was good because of the simplicity of the conflict, but the depth of the characters. In 2, I think Supergiant widened the scope too much. Its too epic, and it doesn't give enough time for the character moments to shine through. Maybe that's because I burned through the story so quickly (I'm a much better gamer in general than the first time I played Hades 1), but something about 2 just...lacks the spark the first game had. Which sucks, cause the gameplay is 100% a step up||

||Also I'm a tad bitter at the lack of screentime for Zag, and the complete absence of Meg and Than 😭||

hades 2 main story ending ||i think i'm like... i don't mind at all the direction, it's interesting stuff, but it feels like it just wrapped up way too quick? i think i like all the plot points, i think i would've felt more for them if they'd be lingered over a bit more. in general, i also don't think i just enjoyed my "working at it" time in this game as opposed to the first. i think i should have turned on god mode right away when i first started the game and i wish the game had offered it to me on start up like i remember the first game doing||

||Yeah ik what you mean. It was definitely sudden, just "over". And the goal of the epilogue is much murkier. I think if the conflict was framed differently, emphasizing the familial aspect of it more, maybe it would've hit harder. But oh well||

Hades 2 down, clear ||This might be the last down run for the story, we'll see, but it ended up being kinda busted. Tons of Scorch damage, with easy Freeze and Froth applications on my dash, special, and cast, which translated into massive Steam damage. Like, one omega attack into attack combo into cast was like 25% of Chronos's health bar. Tons of Heroic boons, and big ranks. Messed up and ran into Chronos's insta-kill, otherwise I would've barely taken damage from him, everything was melting. Plus, I had armor and like 20% bonus dodge.||

Hades 2 Vow Fight Mechanics ||I'm honestly surprised by how much annoying/harder the VoR Eris fight is compared to the Typhon/Chronos is. I guess it's cause I'm bad at positioning||

||Weirdly I find the VoR Eris the easiest vow fight and maybe easier than the regular Eris based on my play style, whereas I almost always take the most damage in the run to vow polyphemus (eff Medea).||

I've never really vibed with the charon axe or using omega specials until this run popped off. Also surprised how little damage I took but I guess I shouldn't be when everything was frozen and dead to huge omega specials and I had Gale and The Lovers for some blocks. Kinda messed up the final fight by being greedy and impatient but such is life.||

Tbh, ||the 200% move speed actually made it harder to avoid some things, cause I'd just run into the damage zone from a light nudge on the stick. I was SO tense about not walking into the insta kills this time xD||

So I made my Special crazy busted on complete accident this run. I started out with the Skull Aspect of ||Persephone, which gives me +3 level for the boons I select and lets me control my Omega Special||, got the Demeter Special boon that boosts speicla damage, then I got the Hera boon that makes a random boon Heroic and gives it levels, and guess which boon it chose.

Add that onto my hammer of special dealing +600 damage to armor, and the Hermes boon that boosts Omega speed

Hahahahahahahahahahaha

And now I'm just hunting for ways to boost my special now ig

I think it's kinda... It's a weird one. I think it's good in two situations: I have taken it when I am low on health and need to just survive for a bit to get to a shop or something and it has served me well in that situation. Also I believe it is just flat damage and so it scales very well with attack speed so on fast weapons it's a lot of DPS though I tend to think it's a bit... when it's strong it makes itself stronger? I mean by increasing your dps significantly it shortens fights which means you have less chance to be hit in the first place. That said I do tend to feel it's quite "win more, loose more" like if I already commit to doing armour and start with the keepsake and I'm already not taking hits then it's highly effective but probably unnecessary but when/if I start taking hits I get weaker which makes fights go worse so I take more hits until it does nothing.

It's kinda worse/different apollo boon that gives a % damage increase until you get hit

Heph in general I find.... his stuff either pops off hard or it's terrible 😅

Been sitting on my overall feelings about the game for a couple of days since finishing the epilogue (spoilers for the Hades 2 ALL + epilogue) ||I think ultimately my issue comes down to Melinoe is way too... neutral and lacking in strong feelings? I guess. On the whole I think the game's story/themes aren't as tight or cohesive and I think this exchange in which Melapologises to Athena because Arachne wouldn't beg mercy and forgiveness was really the icing on the cake. All the stuff with Arachne, and Prometheus, and Echo (and sorta Narcissus to an extent), Heracles, Icarus, even Chronos... they put together all these stories of people who are screwed over by the gods and fates, and then in theory they end the game with this idea that the gods and fates will back off and leave people alone... and idk I feel like that should be a stronger central idea by far than it is? I feel like when they came up with the idea it was great but at some point they backed off/watered down the "screw the gods" thesis because Mel is so ambivalent to it all, and more than anyone else is lacking in agency along the whole ride, she just gets on and does what she's told, and in the end The Fates show up having already made their minds up and not really because of anything she did. She takes the middle path in all these conflicts between mortals and gods and never really takes action/chooses a side. She's sympathetic to these various people, tries to play peacemaker when it isn't gonna inconvenience her but never willing to offer more than that. She accepts the status quo, as with Echo's curse. She never considers a different, better, resolution to the problem of Chronos either, she's always so... submissive? when dealing with her "superiors" as when accepting Athena telling her that her friend deserved to be cursed to be a spider forever for being prideful & rude to her, or shrugging off Prometheus's reasons for turning against the gods because he's in the way of her appointed task.||

||And the same with finally meeting and freeing her family, there isn't much resolution there. She just gets back on to doing her duties. She's been training and fighting her whole existence to free her family and then... just accepts that she's barely gonna see them and gets on with doing what she's told. ||

IDK I think the game is very good and most of the individual writing is very good, and overall I think the actual gameplay is better than Hades but if I had to sum up my feelings to one sentence I'd say I think in trying to step up to this "big world affecting conflict" type thing they lost some of magic of the original.

I think the biggest takeaway I have is that [Hades 2 Ending+Epilogue] ||Mel's role was to listen and hear these people, and who have legitimate gripes, but unlike Zag, she's there to offer them a way forward. A lot of the decisions narratively strike me as Mel is there to provide an alternative, that others may take, without her "white savioring" her way into saving the day||

Absolutely cracked underworld clear. ||Thanatos axe comes with 40% attack speed, and I got 30% on top of that, with Heroic Aphrodite boon (and epic Apollo on my special), and double omega attack/special legendary (plus some strong burn synergies, but w/e). Killed Chronos while he was summoning the healing hourglasses, and while some of them were healing him. I did switch away from the Keepsake I needed though (wasn't sure if I had to keep it the entire run), so no epilogue, and now for sure I am going to bed!||

||Ah, okay. So you've got a similar incanation for Chronos to complete, and that brings you to credits. Between credits and True Ending... depends on how much relationship stuff you've done, but I'd say credits are somewhere between the 30% and 60% mark||

||From what I understand they increase the number of runs you need to do prior to the credits in the underworld, and changed/added dialogues in the ending, I can't remember if they also added/changed stuff about the post-credits epilogue ending.
