They should just let us download the mp4s of the videos so we can watch on VLC
if you are at least a little tech savy, yt-dlp with your browser's login cookie can download Dropout videos for archiving purposes. If you are a data preservation freak or a VLC lover. of which i am both
Ok tbf
It’s only Vimeo on dropout.tv
They also upload everything on YouTube for YouTube members
So you can use YouTube ui and video mechanics
It’s just gonna be more annoying to find stuff
My sister wants to watch some Game Changer or Make Some Noise episodes, but she doesn’t know anything about Dropout and so I’m worried that some of the references will be confusing for her. Are there any suggestions for good starting episodes that don’t have too many call backs?
Honestly season 1 is a good start - lie detector is simple and tame. The four Noise Boys episodes of game changer are also really good if the goal is introduction to MSN
Ooh yeah, lie detector is a great idea. Thanks!
Like my Coffee is also really funny
If you just watch Game Changer in order, it works out fine
A Game Most Changed
Yeah, most of the references and callbacks are to previous episodes, so start in order and you're good
Kinda hard to have callbacks to future episodes
They don't always film in release order, and there was a big one with the last two seasons of Game Changer where one got hinted at due to a slip up in a third party using promotional materials
Olivia and Kibler! Peak!
MSN with Zach and Jess that isn’t kareoke interesting
Okay a Demi VIP is enough to get me to give it a try again
Kid Round is BRILLIANT
I can't believe that wasn't the mini game lmao
I love how often the team of two round just becomes discount team of three round because the third person does a supporting role
even the solo rounds
anna geoff and jeremy look like they have so much fun together
Do they have enough content to warrant this?
Yes ?
They've mapped out a plan for while they trial it, and I'd poorly guesstimate they've got at least a week of content slated
(this is a huge underestimate)
You gotta think for the tabletop content alone
Exactly
I was going to poorly estimate that each season of D20 (which is where they're starting) is like a day of content, but it looks like they vary wildly in runtime from like 12h to probably like 48h, and they've got 27 seasons.
They're set for a month with just the D20 marathon easily, assuming they do every campaign.
(That being said, I feel like an uninterrupted D20 marathon is like the way not to start it, there's a little too much continuity there...)
they totally wont do that, but there is quite a few seassons of their veriaty content that can fill between longer table top stuff
so like they could do a couple epps of make some noise then a couple hours of d20 stuff and swap between d20 stuff and then other stuff and be going for ages
and all the while new content every week
Eventually
I definitely think playing to the strengths of TV channels as a medium is the play, but for now it sounds like they're just going with the playlist approach
(The strength in question being scheduled programming)

This Vic Adventuring Academy does not disappoint
theres just so so many references in the above vid that ppl who are fans of dropout and crit roll will understand and love
Yo is there anything on dropout.tv that isn’t on dropout YouTube channel
I think I’ll face problems trying to pay in the website
As far as I know, no (as long as you're a member)
Wait, including the live D20 shows?
Like their recordings n stuff
I'm seeing it in their playlists
The only thing that might be on Dropout.tv but not the youtube is the superfan bonuses, I think; they get a tiny bit of behind the scenes content (mostly sneak peeks at upcoming announcements as far as I can tell, like the Game Changer season 1/2 bluray), and a discount in the dropout store
Huh. I've been curious to revisit that, I remember watching the first episode in... middle school maybe? And getting disturbed by it, I think the first piece of horror media I saw that really rattled me in a way I didnZt completely hate
I remember a kid in like 4th grade telling me to look it up but it sounded deeply suspicious to me so I never did, I only know it by reputation
They must be doing a dropout promo push today
Dropout 24/7 is not on YouTube
Oh hey, new free sample episode for the folks without a subscription

I'm watching through Gladlands right now, can someone explain the bungling mechanic to me? It seems like the players will mess up each other's rolls decently often and in most cases I don't really understand why
Failing a roll gets you a booboo, which you can slend to perform better in later rolls, so there's some degree kf incentivisation to make other people fail, especially in low-stakes rolls. Sometimes its also just for roleplay purposes
That said, I do remember seeing complaints that one player in particular was bungling other people's rolls too often, and in scenes where they trying to actually do something, so you're not the only one confused
Yeah, there was one moment when ||Jacob knew that Vic was going to fail their roll and bungled it specifically so that the burden of the failure would be shifted to Kokomo, which I really liked.|| But sometimes it really feels like a given player just decides to bungle for no real reason
Especially it being philosophy:)
...Uh, trailer is riding the line i think of what I can link but Dropout is doing a bunch of animated shorts

(Visit Purpee is likely a teaser/trailer for the next D20 Show)
sam said in one of the superfan streams the next interpid heros season was in Purpee
What the hell is this Make Some Noise
This is CHAOS
This is pure proof that Sam actually has zero control over anything
Correct. Sam lost control of the beast that is Dropout, MSN and Game Changer especially, a long time ago

New ways for my friends and I to torture each other
At least he's confident
https://x.com/samreich/status/2041552867220496788
we could have launched a home game years ago. so why now? because we wanted to get it right.
and boy do i think we (myself, my writers, and game designer joshua balvin) have...
It will have DLC
https://x.com/samreich/status/2041552903488610378
this game ~format~ will allow for us to continue to evolve the game over time, making it something dropout can continue to invest in.
in my dream of dreams, home edition becomes a real spiritual companion of the show.
It starts with three games based on different episodes so the game actually does change, presumably they will add more games over time
I trust them and think it can work but also do worry about dropout overextending itself. Particularly delivering a boardgame in the current environment of global shipping and tarrifs seems like the kind of thing where things can go poorly.
I think thats partly why its a kickstarter
To help mitigate some of that
And they have practice releasing board games with the Um Actually card game
Question
Does Dimension20 have like the downloadable character sheets for everyone
Cuz I want to look at them
Not so far as I know
They also tend to run a lot of homebrew so might be less useful than you expect
I think to some degree for the purpose of warding off some backseat gamers / rules lawyers upset by how they're playing the game
The wiki often has character sheets that represent the characters
But I don't know where they get them from
They do show the stats occasionally, will say moves they're using, and probably some inference
I saw the character sheets for Welcome to Purpee in my youtube recommended tab, since they let you do tezt+image posts there now (I hate it I hate it I hate it, they don't show up in subscriptions so whether you see posts from people you follow is entirely up to the algorithm), and I wanna say they did that for Gladlands and Cloudwars Ho, too
Yeah they sometimes have base stats up on screen when that playing is going
[important note: D(e)ad has been out for a bit Izzy is just uploading stuff to her personal channel]
We are so back
Ross is probably the greatest treat to get in any given episode
I'm always so excited seeing Ross in the list
I love how Emily and Brian are the only two on City Council of Darkness that I don't know from prior Dropout stuff
But they're stuff is literally my favorite
Darkness Man and Bat Child segments are so funny
oh is this your first dimension 20 show?
Emily and Murph are mostly only D20 folks for Dropout, but iirc they've also been on Um, Actually here and there, and they were also in a decent amount of College Humor videos, including as the couple that Adam Connover harasses with corrections about various topics in Adam Ruins Everything (Which was then turned into a tv show, which kept them on as recurring characters)
They’re og college humor alums
I think these days they're mostly writers
Yeah
They're also married
Jokers are wild. Game Changer season 8 premieres May 18th, only on Dropout.

Looks really good
oh mannnn
game changer is probably the only dropout show I dive into the moment it's available
Literally same. I'm so beyond hyped
Loooks like the next season of Game Changer has ||another escape room, Rulette 2, some sort of live gameboard||
||We got the Noise Boys for something||
My friends and I were joking during Wrestlemania that one day Sam's gonna run out of ideas and force the cast of Game Changer to get in the ring
I’m so excited for ||the return of Paul Refeerino||
I really want one of these days for Sam to have the stage hands be actual contestants
Put Paul in front of a camera for a whole episode
Do it
The twist is the contestants actually just have to man the camera while the crew plays 😂
That would be a disaster of an episode
Game Changer S1&2 Blu-Rays are back in stock for anyone interested
Dragon Master Katie Marovitch is back for another adventure with her people. Join Jasmine Bhullar, Aabria Iyengar, Matthew Mercer, and Brennan Lee Mulligan as they navigate the road to LAX— and their own sordid pasts as Blue M&M, Army Man, Hat, and Lint.
You can watch the rest of the season premiere here: https://watch.dropout.tv/videos/d20-...
This is a master class in being obnoxious. I salute Katie and think she should’ve been born as a mischievous pixie
Is there going to be more or is this the whole thing
Dimension 20 On A Bus Season 2 is an hour long
Katie fully intends to make a season 3
I hope it becomes a yearly April fools tradition
Gonna be great when D20 on a bus sells out Madison Square Garden in a couple of years.
I can see it now, as they're approaching the end of the show, a bus rolls up to the stage...
I didn't know we were due for a podium inspection...
Gamechanger: Season 6, episode 6, Dropout
Siobhan Thompson, Ify Nwadiwe, Mike Trapp, Sam Reich, Brian David Gilbert
This was my first experience with Dropout
This video
I was both very confused
And thought that random non-sequiters like this were the norm
Like I didn't know this was part of the game I thought this was some comedic non-sequiter that popped up from time to time
You thought trapping the players in a time loop was normal?
I didn't know it was a time loop
I thought this guy just randomly came out periodically as a nonsequiter joke
To be fair, that IS the kind of energy that dropout/game changer has lol.
Yeah like
I've never seen Whose Line Is It Anyway
But from the outside that show always gave me the impression that
Random things can just happen and interrupt the normal flow of the game and it's normal
And I thought that's what Game Changer was like before watching it
Make Some Noise is more Whose Line
Yeah I know that now
I didn't at the time
Back then i didn't know that Dropout was anything but Game Changer and D&D and old CollegeHumor skits lmao
It's very hard to tell the difference between GC and MSN when you only see clips
Especially since Make Some Noise was spun off Game Changer
"Unchanged"
Today's MSN ||I KNEW THE PUNCH LINE OF "BRENNAN HYPING UP THE NEXT PERFORMANCE" WAS GONNA BE HILARIOUS||
I wonder if they talk over their roles in the duo and trio rounds and it just gets cut out
Sometimes they definitely decide on the spot but I do wonder if they talk about it sometimes
😭
||AUSTRALIAN POWER RANGERS FOR CHRIST IS THE MOST INCREDIBLE PROMPT I HAVE EVER HEARD||
That episode was absolutely incredible
I doubt it, especially with their improv background I assume they are just reacting to each others choices, so if there are 2 clear roles and one gets claimed the other person knows to do the other
Sometimes the discussion does make it in, though the only example that's coming to mind is the two contestants (idr who) playing rock paper scissors for the obviously more fun character
I generally tend to assume that that's the kind kf stuff that's prtty universal to collaborative improv that just gets cut for pacing; there's been some behind the scenes discussion of Dimension 20 (I believe on an episode of Adventuring Academy) where Brennan talks about discussing with the players before a scene what they're planning to do so he can bounce off it to set things up correctly
Um, Actually Baby Bracket volume 3 👀
It is so funny that they put Gianmarco in this episode of Parlor Room
We got the host of the show, a bunch of people of color, and then a white dude, for a game about black culture. It's very funny
I am now a Dropout cultist

From the team behind Game Changer comes a chaotic, fast-paced party game where you never know what’ll happen next.
We spoke to Dropout CEO Sam Reich about the Game Changer: Home Edition Kickstarter. When we asked how involved he's been in the design process, he replied, "I am too in the weeds on absolutely everything. Help me. Please, for the love of God, help me." https://t.co/Ur38RXAW09
The only person who can help Sam at this point is Sam himself

And seeing two people who clearly don't know anything about the Trojan War try to reenact something from the Trojan War is hilarious

GET READY FOR A GAAAAAAME CHANGEEEEER
incredible episode
I'm speechless, I weas not ready for it
One of the best
Yep, very strong start for the season
One thing I love about Game Changer is that they dont cut out the crew laughing
I started the episode and coming in hot right away with the first prompt
That was very good. I was laughing so hard I started crying
Something just occured to me
Sam's pointer thing, when he collapses it at the end when he does his opening words
He isn't using that for anything he's just doing that for the visual
"He didn't say Sam Says"
The paranoia begins already
You never know when you're playing Sam Says you gotta be a HAWK
||More like an eagle, in this ep||
||WHAT THE HELL IS LEGALEAGLE DOING HERE||
||Getting a paycheck||
||I am so happy Jeremy is the one who got "hit on producers" with Paul||
I was considering saying "I wonder why Ally was here for this and not Grant", but then I realized the reason is because Grant and Jeremy play the same game except Jeremy has more chaos to him so Ally was chosen to have variety
Also to mix things up
So does the SNL talent only need to be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and this was maybe filmed on a Monday? Or did Jeremy take leave to film this
Absolutely beautiful reaction to that
Game Changer 8.1 ||incredible episode. LegalEagle ThrobbinRobin was hilarious and I'm so glad they got him on here.||
- X-Men I guess? ||I didn't realize before that Phoenix's full name is Phoenix Askani? Goated freaking reference||
It is a crime that ||Lou was not there for THAT prompt of all prompts||
That is one of the funniest of the lot so far
||Shout outs to my GOAT Phil though||
||Devin is roasting Jeremy hard lmao||
I missed Game Changer fellas
I like MSN but there's nothing quite like wondering what insanity I'm going to experience every other week
|| as a person who works in law myself, I was STRESSED for them 😅||
THATS SO GOD DAMN FUNNY
The funniest part is ||If you look at the lawyers, the Black lawyer, Alexis, is the only one whose bar is not in the red. Presumably because it’s less defamatory to claim she used that phrase?||
Poor Phil, getting SLANDERED
I'm on a bus so unfortunately I cannot express my true feelings to the outside
|| Poor Phil indeed and he didn’t sign a waiver! ||
But if I was in my room when I got to that point
I can’t wait for the “making of” feature on this one.
"We had to ask ourselves, 'how do we make this episode without getting sued for real'"
I love how there's only a single content warning in the description btw
That's funny
||ALLY ACTUALLY DOING DRUGS LMFAOOOOOOO||
||the whiskey in the bong then lighting it- after the clarification off stage that no they are not prepared for fire on stage and yes alcohol is highly flammable was probably the wildest part of the episode.||
||Jeremy won edit approval over the episode now I have to wonder if Jeremy actually didn't go back to start once, or if he only accepted edits that made it seem like he didn't||
Game Changer Season 8
||Every time I think, "wow, they're really threading the needle here on what's legally allowed," this show just ups their game even more.||
Game Changer s8
||Imagine if you will, you're on the street packing your groceries into your car when a man approaches and asks if you want to be on a game show. You enter the room, seemingly mid round. The host of the show asks if you signed a waiver, you tell him you did not. Three angry looking people in suits turn their levers from green into yellow.
I'm Rod Serling.||
||There's a couple articles talking about some behind the scenes features, and apparently Dropout's legal team cleared way more than Sam was expecting, because couching it all in commentary on copyright law and Standards and Practices gave them a ton of wriggle room||
Is there a gamechanger episode tonight?
No there was the behind the scenes for last week’s one like 2 hours ago, next actual ep is next week
Oh SNAP
There's a Mistborn question in the new Um Actually
i say right as the question makes me mad
I don't agree with the answer to that question!
||The answer to the question is "Steelpushing and Ironpulling can't push on ANY metal because they can't push on aluminum"||
||Which is technically correct, but I have two big issues with it: First, they always say it lets you push on "metals". You can't technically push on ANY of them but I feel like that's a distinction that's hardly even made in story. And second, and bigger: When describing Allomancy, they said "you drink, inject, snort, or otherwise ingest metals"||
||And as far as I know, you cannot inject or snort metal, you HAVE to ingest it through the mouth||
||While swallowing metal is the most common way of getting metal into the body, other ways such as injecting or snorting will also work.||
- Coppermind
The more you know!
I shall accept that insane technicality in the face of being proven wrong
the point of the show is insane technicalities anyway
Can you ||push/pull on silver or alloys of aluminum?||
Probably not
||what about god metals?||
Uhhhhhhh we probably have an answer for ||pushing/pulling on Shardblades?||
||"Shardblades would be mostly immune to Allomantic Pushes and Pulls. Influencing a Blade with Allomancy would require more power than even Rashek or Waxillium Ladrian with the Bands of Mourning wielded."|| Mistborn full
No info on my second question
||So it seems Shardblades can THEORETICALLY be Pushed and Pulled||
This is the second question
I meant more like ||Raysium or atium if you had enough of it||
Did they cite the Coppermind itself in Um Actually?
They didn't mention it by name
I'll see if it's in the credits
idk if they put their sources in credits
Nope no Coppermind citation in credits
Brenniples
What do you guys think he odds are that I ever get the end to this webcomic?
I went back to check in on Strong Female Protagonist for the first time in years finally noticed who exactly had been writing it
Maybe we can get a dropout series or a toon-out short of it.
It looks like they have kept the website up to date as the year is current at the bottom.
Top question I’ll ask him if I ever see him on the street
It was a really good comic
I saw him on sunday, should have told me smh
I’ll just go back in time real fast
You can take your time really. Due to the nature of time travel I don't think it matters how fast you go
Well no, in order to time travel you have to go really fast
That's just to go to the future
Maybe reverse time travel is the opposite
If you move infinitesimally slowly maybe you go back in time
Very excitef for three hours from now

||Play Mean is the BEST thing that could have happened for the end of the game||
Game Changer 8-2 ||Holy hell that was the single most chaotic episode I've ever seen. I loved it so much||
Two insane episodes to start off the season
For real
||I think the original Rulette might have been more chaotic||
Oh no
