Maybe I’m wrong but it feels obvious WB is just juicing as much as they can from either bidder .
I think this is Netflix calling their bluff and going “oh paramounts deal is better? Ok prove it. take it!”
WB is obligated to take the best offer, in a cash only deal which both if these are the best offer is pretty qualitative
Yes, all they want is money. I think the CEO was going to pocket 500 million from the Netflix deal, straight into his account
I wouldn't say all millionaires are but I am of the opinion that all billionaires are evil
You do not make that much money without creating misery
The benefit to the CEO isnt really relevant, its a legal matter for shareholder value
If you could just bribe the ceo to somehow force the board to accept the deal then I think thats all companies would do
My father is the head of the second largest water brand in my country, and believe me, it's not quite what you think
But anyway, I feel like I'm going around in circles about something that's very simple: money.
Doubt Netflix are doing this, they’re getting a 3 billion break up fee if Warner accepts paramounts offer
I would consider sacrificing ethics for financial gain one of the very definitions of evil.
Not to mention
Paramount is like
Hilariously bad at finances
DC might genuinely be screwed
I believe there are ways and ways to get rich, unless you don't see the difference between how Netflix makes money and how a mafia does
And if I get philosophical, wealth is morally neutral in itself; what matters is the method. Watching movies is a leisure activity that doesn't obligate anyone to pay to see them; it's entertainment, not food or water
at least in this case
OPLA S2 ||HE DID THE THING||
Not sure if Gunn is out, but wouldn’t shock me if the Ellisons try to seriously sanitize the “political” content at DC
If that were to happen, it wouldn't be because they're evil people.
It's because they're fools lol
I would argue that the realities of the current global financial landscape means that specific levels of wealth do have morally evil things attached to them inherintly
I have less issues with Paramount than I have with Ellison. But that is beyond the scope of this channel.
Yeah i tried to keep my statement as on topic as possible. I believe that media companies at specific ammojnts of wealth and influence are inherently evil
Yeah that wasn’t a response to you specifically just a general summary of my feelings on this topic.
I was just agreeing with you
This is thoroughly outside the scope of this channel
oh, ye, srry
I think I'll leave it here
It’s joever
I just can’t help but think all DC content is beyond cooked
It’s less about the company being evil and more about these large scale mergers being inherently concerning, but moreso than usual now because of the political interference going on
I’d imagine Snyder would come back
fyi I think anything further than this on political mergers would be breaking the politics rule
I still feel like this saga is far from over
Yes, it’s under the HBO brand which is under WB
Yes and it also includes last of us show and the upcoming BG3 adaptation
I’m not really inclined to speculate on the creative implications, concerns are valid but feel a little sensationalized? Still, all this consolidation is never exactly good
Well, I do think there is a broad cultural shift away from focusing on representation in media because of very vocal online backlash. I think the nature and degree of this shift is like… to be determined tbh
But honestly I think DC stays the course tbh
also very dependent on medium
if you only experience high budget film projects you might get hit
i think smaller stuff is doing better than ever
The DCU is like… probably the LAST thing on Ellison’s mind rn
I’ve read some articles about lgbt rep in particular dropping over the past two years (on TV)
It’s 28% in 2022 vs 23% in 2024 (not sure how they crunched the numbers)
It could mean fewer but higher quality and more nuanced lgbt oriented characters… or it could be a complete concession to the gamergate crowd
I would suggest that its more indicative of worrying global trends right now rather than something like "consession to gamergate"
They are not mutually exclusive but I’m trying to keep it within the bounds of this server lol
Okay yeah, im with you then, not mutually exclusive

I still sobbed at the end as I always do
This and smiling friends bro damn worst week to be a fan of TV in decades i swear
DC wont be affected because its already within paramounts agenda
It’s mostly the news divisions they’re after
Which again
Is a whole other conversation not suited for this server
Might affect ASOIAF
why?
Completely off topic but Hilary Mantel was writing a Jane Austen crossover story when she died 😭 😭 😭
so i finished bridgerton s4 part 2 and i DID cry. a couple times
||the yuri of it all
😭 ||
bridgerton s4p2 ||every time women touched hands and smiled at each other and laughed i cried okay||
||also mrs alice mondrich is possibly probably the most beautiful woman in the show
||
i feel like book readers are way harder on unfinished media than movies and tv so many series i like will never be finished
It probably stings a little less when the reason the story you love is unfinished is ‘big bad megacorp is pinching pennies’, compared to ‘author just didn’t’
Also probably easier to move on for a fan because you get a clear ‘no’
I think it is because there is no filter between the creators and the audience. Typically if a show gets cancelled it is because of the network, not bc the showrunners just didnt write scripts
Ironically game of thrones is an exception to this

Oh, uhhhh idk about this one https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2027398495380840931
Why does Atreus look like Hasbulla
The makeup needs to have effort
I don't know how to explain this but these characters don't look like they were in the same location when that photo was taken
kratos looks like danny mcbride in this screenshot
That doesn't mean it isn't AI
this looks like a normal first look set photo
2 months to get costumes assembled seems eminently doable
I haven't actually played the game but I think maybe a bit of the uncanniness is that Kratos looks too close to the game? Something about the arm wraps and the pauldron seem far more like intentionally constructed things to make him look cool and so it feels more like a video game/has a more digital feel
Just a thought I pulled out of my ass
Even Zaslav doesn’t think the deal is gonna close https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2027432390130376740?s=20
companies of this size have a massive international presence, so yeah, it'll be complicated and take a long time
If it even goes through we won’t start seeing the effects of it until like early 2029
I think that, for the intents and purposes of something like DC, that's probably true, though some other WB-Discovery things might see effects much sooner
they're taking on an insane amount of debt to make this happen, and I think certain non-profitable products might be on the chopping block pretty quickly
James Gunn if you can hear me greenlight as many projects as you can before Ellison fires you
also it's worth noting that when Paramount's sale to Skydance was pending (not finished yet), Paramount had done some things believed to have been at Skydance's direction, even though Skydance didn't actually own them yet. Like, South Park had a 10-year renewal deal that Skydance apparently interfered with, delaying their season until they came to a revised agreement for a 5 year renewal at the same annual rate
they're theoretically not allowed to interfere before the deal is done but theory may not stop them
I’ve been seeing a lot of DCU fans panicking about this news and rightfully so, but I doubt Gunn and Safran are out once this deal goes through
Especially since they just gave WB their most profitable DC movie in like a decade
And it’s clear that Zaslav likes Gunn and Safran heading the DC division
One thing I've seen is that some people say that Paramount just paid more than they're going to be able to earn for Warner
And that in the end both will be bankrupt and Netflix will buy both of them
it'll take a long time for things to get that bad, maybe 10 years, but who knows? Maybe
wind and waves page just dropped on seribii
I am a faithful believer that patience is the best thing you should have, that and discipline ☝️ 🤓
Exactly
I’m just seeing so much dooming about this from DC fans on my timeline
And I’m trying to ignore
But it’s hard
I don't know if DC has much to worry about, if it's a money making machine they'll leave it as it is
There are other reasons but I think mentioning them is against the rules
What is the fastest way to learn those things?
I think the weirdness come from the set more than the characters. It looks like this picture was taken with a few props in reality and a fake background. Wether it was rear projection or green screen or volume is hard to say from the picture, but that to me is what looks off.
hm... yeah, i can see that
it does have a bit of that "primary school photo day" quality
If it was a quick way then it wouldn't be patience
I think I'm quite patient in some things but in others not so much (gacha games)

A live-action ‘Astro Boy’ film is reportedly in the works at Sony Pictures.
(Via: https://t.co/WssYd7N8ZI)
itsa 3d platformer it doesnt need a movie
ok I think this hurt me even more
😭
A live action Astroboy movie is in development
That’s certainly a way of saying “yeah I’m broke”
Forbes: Larry Ellison lied his way into a deal
Something that would be a crime for most people but not if you’re obscenely wealthy
it was a joke
Illiquid is not the same as broke
rich people never have enough cash on hand? that's not how they do money
they get loans with their assests as collateral
Literally everything about this deal is horrible financially
My bet is on it falling apart before it even crosses the finish line
And WB stays independent
Who knows, that might be the intent here
Might be worth it to Paramount and friends to see WB stay out of the hands of Netflix, even to the tune of billions in penalties
Something that the traditional media companies have been fairly successful in doing the last ~10 years is starving Netflix of legacy programming
This might be part of that, among other things
Either way I think Netflix is being smart here, because even if this deal goes through, this is going to put Paramount more into the trenches of debt
And then Netflix comes in like 10 years when Paramount sells and picks up the scraps
For much less too
I think there is a possibility that oracle running into trouble might cause some problems
According to a September regulatory filing, Ellison had 346 million pledged Oracle shares “to fund outside personal business ventures.” They were worth more than $100 billion then and about $50 billion now. Even at the lower end, that’s enough to cover Ellison’s commitment without him selling a single Oracle share and triggering a selloff. No need to sell the crown jewels if you can mortgage them instead.
The article is focused on the oracle stock that he has earmarked as for personal use, basically they are saying if the stock price drops further then he'll need more loans (banks have already loaned $57.5 billion and Ellison has to get the rest)
I think barring a big oracle stock drop its a nonstory but it is interesting
Like… even ZASLAV HIMSELF thinks this might not go through
Like, a free 7 billion has to be enticing for Zaslav at least
Of larger concern is that if the deal isnt closed by October then the price per share starts ticking up. The question is how long it gets held up by regulators from around the world
Ehhhhhhhhh that’s more ass covering than anything
I’m also not a business major so I digress
For instance California will try to carve out protections for entertainment workers and suppliers which will slow stuff down
California is absolutely going to be a factor here too yeah
The AG has already made a post saying they’ll heavily scrutinize this
I dont want to get you hopes uo Ryan, the deal is probably going to go through just with a higher price tag
I don’t really mind it anyway
Instead give me a Pluto live action
Just wonder how it effects DC
Cause that would MEGA suck if Gunn and Safran and the whole DC Studios team are part of those layoffs
Isn’t that Astro bot?
Damn good opener

There are people who say that the unfinished nature of the story makes it something not worth reading
Ohhhh
Finished Scream 7. It was alright. Definitely the Neo Scream 3, that's for damn sure. For sure one of the weakest movies. Still enjoyable, just not great
Yeah that's not at all why I don't like ot
I don't like it due to a distinct philosophical difference in how I view humanity and how the series decides to depict it

The Truman Show ||This old man has what is, without a doubt, the strongest, most unhealthy, creepiest parasocial relationship with another person any person has ever had.||
Only thing i saw about that movie was a transphobic joke which turned me off tbh i thought theyd actually have the sense to move on from that
Uhhh
I don't recall that
Do you have the details
Because I didn't see anything like that
Right at the begginign of the movie there was a joke about "Ermmm my pronouns are they/them"
That was the new Scary Movie
Not the new Scream
Oh my god im stupid
They both start with SC so i autifilled
I know scream 7 has its own whole list of issues and its a mess but thats a whole nother thing i cant get into because no politics here
scary movie 6 leaked trailer.. in theaters July... I think 🤔
#2026 #movie #scary
sounds And effect used with permission from the capcut app
To be fair Scary Movie is a parody of Scream
So I'm not surprised that that confused you
Especially since that scene is explicitly a parody of a scene in Scream 6
Exact same setup
It sure was
I wasn't sure if I was gonna watch it because of that tbh
And yeah you can definitely feel that the rewrites caused some problems
Hence why I call it neo-Scream 3
all the kinda mid long running slasher franchises kinda fit into that same bubble for me
Scream isn't mid imo, Scream is actually very consistent
Shockingly so given the usual track record
I haven't seen Scary Movie so I can't comment
But Scream doesn't fall into a lot of the issues other horror movies have over the years
Scary movie is bad
Even the weak movies have issues primarily stemming from way too many rewrites, rather than any issues of sequelitis like most other horror franchises
And they're usually one off problems that aren't replicated in future movies
Scary movie is like many comedies wheres theres loads of weird bigoted stuff and there isnt any funny stuff at all to make it even enjoyable at all
(when i say weak movies i mean 3 and 7 lmao)
Omg, another recc algorithm bit lul. I swear these things are getting worse
I've semi binged TM series 1 on YT the last couple weeks
And am halfway through series 2
My home page? CR, Tom Scott, Grubby, EPIC, SC2, TM, CR, TM, SC2, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM ,TM, TM, TM ,TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM, TM
I mean I love taskmaster so I see this as an absolute win
But yes the algorithm seems to always think you want to watch the same thing you just watched, which just... Isn't the case
I have been periodically watching this video over the past few days, probaby the best analysis of a show I've seen. It totally avoids the common pitfall of "video claiming to be analysis of something is mostly just summarizing the movie/show". It's got cool symbolic analysis as well as some great character analysis

Thoughts in general ||I hated Santos but unfortunately she was ultimately correct in her feud with Langdon. I think she’s a bad doctor and arrogant, but Langdon should have been arrested, what he did could have resulted in patient deaths, and I think it’s crazy they didn’t tell the cops about him||
||i loved Whitaker, McKay, and Melissa King, Mohan and the two Filipino nurses + Dana, and I thought they did a really good job with Robby’s eventual breakdown. Victoria was annoying at first but got pretty good development. Dr Collins i thought was pretty under developed. Dr Shen and Garcia had little screen time but I really liked their vibes||
||overall i really liked it, i thought it was a good mix of competence porn with genuine high stakes conflict and character development||

Watching invasion S1E2 and they were playing doom eternal and I did a double take. I was playing Pokemon and looked up just before the camera jumped and I was like “I know that snow, that wall, and those projectiles anywhere”
Hearing the sound to indicate the dash coming off cooldown and stuff ended up distracting me from everything else lmfao
Modern shows actually showing somewhat modern gaming? Wild.
Ted Lasso is amazing. You’re in for a treat through the rest of the show.

generally, they do not lie on investor calls, that can get them in trouble. It doesn't mean the plan can't change, but it probably is the plan for now

It released early
👀
I love the mention of the alien and squirrel lanterns
Also it seems a relativly grounded realistic 1st season thst isnt super flashy
Or super galactic
I am interested in the show because of the creatives involved, not a very interesting trailer
Ch’p being mentioned is amazing
That’s all I need
Maybe he was the squirrel that Superman saved
Huh old man Jordan, neat way to take it
All in all the trailer looks good! Definitely nothing groundbreaking since it’s just a teaser
Hal’s suit is definitely… meh but it’s whatever, I’m sure it’ll look better when he actually wears it
Lanterns trailer ||I also wonder why Hal says that he’s the only human GL?||
||I wonder if this takes place in this past before Guy gets the ring?||
||Maybe he just hates Guy for selling out to LordTech so he doesn’t even consider him a GL||
John Woo my GOAT
Hey I think they forgot to put the green in the green lantern adaption
Lanterns trailer visually reminded me of OBAA
Honestly feels like they kept it out intentionally
Adapt comic book series
Fail to put the fun comic book elements in it
????
And this after the movie that learned into the fun comic book elements did amazing
They’re definitely holding back
A lot of the fun stuff is gonna be in the show
I just don’t think a lot of the CGI is done yet
Unfortunately I'm not super hyped from that trailer
My dad is excited for Ch’p at least
It does feel like DC needs a change in their trailer editing department because between the Supergirl trailer and that, we need a change
Plus I think Gunn himself said that the season will go cosmic and fantastical at some point
I feel like my gripes with the lanterns trailer are the same as my gripes with the supergirl trailer but dialed up
Why are we adapting cool crazy space stories and then taking away all the cool visual aspects
I think it’s just a fault of trailer editing and marketing tbh
Even the first look at the Superman suit was HORRIBLE
Everyone was trashing it
Yeah, it is quite possible the movie/show has what I want and they're just not showing it
Which, if that's the case, will make me even more grumpy about the trailers specifically
I kinda knew the show was gonna be like this anyway
Literally the first thing Gunn said about it was “it’s True Detective but Green Lanterns”
Maybe I’m just too optimistic idk
I think the premise and the people attached to it are very promising
They’re probably not revealing too much because the trailers for Superman showed EVERYTHING
I think they’ve learned their lesson
I don't think it necessarily looks like a bad show I'm just like... is this really the first GL thing we're getting?
I think they're intentionally holding it back for this teaser
I'm gonna wait before commenting any further
Its what 😂
Ok I watched the trailer and it doesnt give those vibes to me tbh, but it could have just been edited to attract the superhero audience
I don’t think it will, but I hope the DCU isn’t afraid to embrace colorfulness
These movies need to be colorful
Even the MCU wasn’t colorful in Phase One
But Superman was EXTREMELY colorful so I’m not concerned about that
And Peacemaker too honestly
🤔 An otherwise pretty gritty colour palette could make the lantern effects pop in contrast perhaps, if done well.
I definitely am curious why they released a trailer THIS early too
It comes out in August
'Man of Tomorrow' begins filming April 17 in Atlanta

I need those set photos immediately
Please
Lex in that Warsuit is gonna feed generations
needs the protag to be a beaver
That's definitely the impression i get of the intent
Just so you guys know I will be VERY normal when we get Man of Tomorrow set photos
The juxtaposition of the gritty color and the detective story tone with the bright color and wonder of a Lantern
True Detective+Lanterns ||itd be very funny if they do a King in Yellow bit with Yellow Lanterns xD||
The lack of green seems intentional
||I am such a sucker for King in Yellow content, that would get me on board to at least give it a try immediately||
I gotta watch True Detective some day. And also finish reading that book.
Season 1 is sooooo good
Genuinely one of the best seasons of a show ever
TD s1 ||The long take with no cuts at the end of one of the episodes, maybe episode 5, is one of my favorite scenes ever||
||and then it plays a badass nick cave song over the credits directly after which gives it even more bonus points||
||Its episode 4||
Im such a sucker for one shot takes, Adolescence was so fascinating to me because of this
Just thinking about the logistics of 4 hour long one shot episodes with so many moving parts to most of them blows my mind
One of the central characters being played by a 14 year old doing his first ever professional role and being absolutely outstanding too

i was worried i would never see her make a video again
her recovery has taken so long
HBO official account tweeting this is actually funny
https://x.com/hbomax/status/2029366309847171529
Thats so hilarious
And like im actually glad they dont lean into how ridiculously cartoony other "live action" green lanturn things have been
Like in superman I think it was fine and looked good but other things not so much
I think it’s more to restore the general public’s view on Green Lantern
I don’t think people realize how badly the 2011 movie ruined the general audiences view of Green Lantern
This is definitely made to have people take it more seriously
And then it’ll obviously go cosmic
Oh yeah from everything i know theres no chance they can make a TV series called lanturns with out you know showing the lanturns
It was so good!
PHM movie ||It was very close to the book, they didn’t cut out much. There was more focus on the prep for the Hail Mary rather than the warming of the world, which worked well. Ryan Gosling was amazing as Grace! Fit him perfectly, and Rocky was just as adorable as expected||
I'm so mad, I got invited to a free imax screening of phm but have class at that time and I can't miss
How in the world did you get to see it so early 😭
My local astronomical society was given some tickets
I think it needs to have variety
have some movies very gritty, some movies colorful, some movies serious, some fun
I just think lanterns is the wrong choice for the gritty realistic look
Although I do appreciate the merits of starting off like that to get more of an audience
I am tentatively interested in what the story of the show is gonna be
General GL lore ||I wonder if the lack of green is an intentional choice to maybe set up another colour having greater influence in the setting?||
Hal does feel in character, though
Green Lantern can absolutely work as a grounded gritty and realistic thing too
It’s worked in the comics before
Literally one of THE best and most praised Green Lantern comics of all time is a grounded story about him and Green Arrow traveling the country in an RV
I dont mind GL being grounded and realistic its specifically that its the first DCU lantern project outside of Guy Gardener existing
I would have a bit more faith if we'd established the cosmic/space side of it first, I think
And we might get most of those scenes in the 1st couple epps
-# Which. I imagine their intention is for it to go from grounded and realistic to WOAH space stuff, but I want something to convince me that they'll do the space stuff well
Even if it was just like, a single shot
I just want something to let me trust them on that
I dont have much distrust for the current wave of DC stuff
So im willing to see where this goes
I definitely have no doubt it’ll be cosmic
I feel like the fact that they even mention the other alien GLs and Ch’p gives me hope we’ll see the more cosmic side of things
They've also cast sinestro right?
It’s definitely meant to subvert your expectations, you go in thinking “oh this’ll just be a regular detective show” and then turns into wacky mind bending sci fi
I think my thing is just... I have faith in DC and the team doing these projects, but I feel like a few of the recent trailers just haven't given me the hook I'd want for what they're adapting
Like, I will see the project because its the DCU and I have faith in them, but if I didnt have that faith I dont think I would be entirely onboard from the trailers
I want the trailer/teaser to give me something that gives me faith in the project beyond it being DC. And while the characterisation has been good in both this and supergirl, neither have entirely persuaded me on the project
This is a picture of Robbie wearing his stethoscope backwards
I read that they wear it like that because it's easier to hear what's happening around them while shooting
it's one of those things like "bad" cpr where the show has to give some ground in realism for practicality
yeah perfectly accurate cpr just for acting purposes woudl be...
they could do it on dummys, but not when actual actors are playing dead
what, nobody eager to break their co-stars' ribs for the sake of realism? 😌
That does sound like the kind of thing that the really method/self-punishing actors would do if they could get a producer to actually say yes.
the method actors would just do method acting when it's for being mean to others...
I am convinced enough due to the existence of Guy Gardener
they already break each others legs ribs shouldn't be an issue
Made the mistake of watching The Dead Don't Die. Probably one of the dumbest movies I've seen
Howw??????
Aaaaallllllllrighty, time to start watching Legend of Korra!
Ohooo this'll be interesting~
Im excited to see someone with no bias engage with this show in current year, I wanna see how your opinions play out! Tbh I should rewatch it too, probably when Seven Havens gets a release date
I'm excited. I know that there's lots of Discourse™ about the show, and I've tried very hard to not be influenced too much one way or the other.
Yes, go in as neutral as possible~
First impressions ||I knew there was a ~70 year time skip between the shows, but damn I didn't expect that much technological progression. Then again, the Fire Nation was fairly far along in their industrial revolution. I suppose we were building skyscrapers within ~70 years of our first airships.||
||Also the animation is noticeably higher quality. AtlA improved greatly over its run, but this is much more detailed.||
Also, ||Very interesting to see Korra firebending so early. Earth was the most technically challenging element for Aang, being the opposite of Air. Fire is the opposite of water, but Korra seems right at home with it.||
||Appa! Also aww, Aang named one of his kids after Bumi.
||
Oh. ||Not Appa. Huh. I thought he was the last sky bison.||
||Sokka's dead too? 😭||
||I mean he probably died doing something reckless and stupid. But still.||
Oh damn you really are going into this blind 💀
||This one is a huge waste. It basically comes from how the writers only expected one season, so they doubted they'd have room to do anything with Sokka. AFAIK they've said that if they knew there would be more, they'd have kept him alive and done something with him.||
LoK ||I knew Aang was dead, and that Katara, Zuko, and Toph are fairly present characters. But I didn't/don't know if anyone else would show up in a small roll like Sokka or Ty Lee, etc.||
Korra ALL (nsfGlam) ||I feel like 90% of my gripes with LoK would have been solved if they actually were greenlit for multiple seasons and outlined them at once. That and Nick constantly giving the show production/release problems.||
Cant wait to see how you feel
I will say you get to find out the fate of most of the poeple we loved in atla
||That was a rough time, I was there when this was being released and it was so annoying and stressful at the time||
A meme for you Glam (Korra S1E1) || https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQjBdyYg6qE ||

Same tags ||As i get older, theres more and more i realize that... there was just nothing to be done. I still wish some choices weren't made and I still dont like the bending (narratively, visually all the fights are *stunning) but I am asking for a lot from a tv show in development hell 😅||
For what it's worth, ||I'd prefer less of this kind of commentary, as I said above I'm trying to come in to the show with as few preexisting opinions and conceptions as possible. If you're gonna talk about the show's wasted potential, mistakes, etc, I would kindly request that you tag it nsfGlam or whatnot.||
I will keep that in mind in the future, but I feel like that remark is like, as non-spoiler as it gets
Literally the only thing it is about is information you already know
||one of the main reasons atla worked was bc they knew how long it was from the jump||
||no one can turn out 10/10 stuff consistently (except steven erikson)||
It's less the information and more ||calling it a huge waste.|| As I said before I know there's a lot of very divided opinions on the show and I'm trying to keep an open mind.
Korra all ||sometimes a show just goes wrong||
Korra ALL ||and see. When youre like 13 and ATLA reshaped how you view animation and writing, it sours you... bad 😭 dont worry, ill battle the bitterness someday with a rewatch. The idea becomes less and less misery inducing with each passing day||
||i really dont have an urge to rewatch. I dont think my opinion on the show would drastically change. Its problems are pretty clear and its strengths are just as obvious||
||I was the perfect age for TLA and it had a profound effect on my growing up. So like anything after wouldn't hit that same even if the stars did all align.||
@timber marsh the pitt s2e9 ||Don't hide the tablet, Lotus!||
ATLA + Korra + The Dragon Prince ||What made me realize this was the Dragon Prince's absolute fumble. Here we have the "mind" behind ATLA running his own story, so surely ill hit just as hard as the show he wrote on before, right?? 🙃 it made me realize that to make an excellent show like ATLA, every piece of the puzzle needs to fit||
I am so glad i dropped the dragon prince after episode 2
what are y'all doing snooping on my reddit SMH
To be honest I almost responded to that with my alt account LOL
|| TV and movies have so many hands in them that the fact that any of them are excellent is a miracle.||
I typed it out and then remembered to switch
Atla franchise ||I am so Sus of the upcoming projects for exactly this reason||
The pitt S2e9 ||That was a rough one. I cried throuhg most of it||
the pitt s2e9 ||"I've never died before" got me hard||
||It doesn't help that I've been in a chaos-storm of mental health stuff these past few weeks and have just not had the time to sit down and cry||
||I spent half the episode reminding myself that these are actors, not real people. Half the characters need a big hug ||
Lanterns teaser has me trying to figure out if a brown lantern corps has ever existed
Saw a reviewer talking about it and saying they don't want to have to rely on copium for the most basic things and I think that's where I'm at with Lanterns
I do have some faith and I'm willing to wait and see, but I don't like having to theorize about how it can even be a GL show to start with
Pitt S2 E9 || Yeah this one had literally every single moment hitting you with it. There is the cancer patient, the case that Javadi missed, the talk Dana had with the newbie, Mel's deposition, Robbie making Whitaker the successor of his things secretly while trying to pursuade to not be super involved with Amy. The other guy who had a talk with his sister. ||
|| another aside, I remember mentioning at episode 3 that this season seems to focus on relationships or at least the inability of these people to make them a core part of the story the same way as Medical Insurace is.
Even in the way that Santos is trying to find a way to make plans with Garcia but everything around her reminding that she is much behind in the work and would not have free time.
||
||We even get a few glimpse into Ogelvie with his father being a pedantic english teacher and him not having a good relationship with him. No idea where that storyline would go though||
||I think stuff like this is more to just give more flavor to the characters rather than something that will be followed up on, like santos' scars||
Yeah probs
|| I had just forgotten that it is Javadi's birthday. Yeah this is not the best one to have. ||
Every lantern corps is either the borwn or grey lantern corps now because of how bad the color grading and colors are
In brownest day in greyest night
Colours in the teaser weren't bad
They just have specific choices
I liked it
they were pretty bad
Felt more like a tv show and grounded in reality at least for now untill we see more of the power stuff im not gonna judge it
And like mabey this was the 1st couple epps or something and by epp 3 or 4 theres some good quality green everywhere
The ryan gosling green lantern had more colour
And that one was bad
See, I don't think the overall colouring was poorly done. But I do think it was a strange choice for a GL show, especially for the first major piece of promotion
its just fallen into a lot of modern shows trap of having 0 colour
It just seems like almost 0 stuff and there is some very harsh judgements on it
When we have seen so little
I don't like having to come up with theories to reassure myself that it will have the most basic GL elements
I don't think it means the show will necessarily be absolute trash, or that the show will not have the colours and cosmic stuff, but I think it's poor marketing that the first trailer gave us so little GL stuff
we saw a shot of the uniform or whatever and it barely had any colour
Tbh I still have hope that that is an old and trashed uniform instead of a main one
Like, Hal has had that uniform for so long that, as he's gone through a bunch of stuff, it's worn down/out
The lack of colour is obviously an intentional choice, and I don't believe there's nothing interesting they can do with it
There's just not been anything in the promo to make me believe that the reason for the choice isn't just "we think GL is silly"
no its just the current trend and it sucks
I think it's too early to say for sure that that's what's going on with lanterns
Especially given this is the same DCU that did Superman
If it is extremely colorful and has a bunch of Green Lanterns shenanigans when the show comes out, then I think Gunn needs to have a long talk with the marketing department
Giving me Transformers One vibes
Or maybe the marketing is intentionally not showing any green for a bigger reveal later
Can people not subsist without instant gratification
Lanterns is supposed to be an adult show and we're acting like anything but
I don't think that's what's going on here
The thing is, marketing is meant to sell the show
What is being sold is something completely devoid of any GL stuff
I think theres a difference between if episode 1 started off with no green for a later reveal and the trailer not giving any sign of GL stuff aside from as washed out, off-limits, back-of-closet material
It's the whole thing of promises and pay-off: with a slow reveal, you have the "promise" in the title and (potentially) marketing that it will be a GL show, and so the pay-off where the colours kick in works
But right now, I don't feel like the marketing is giving me the expectation that there will be any GL stuff at all
Maybe if there wasn't the cultural context of a lot of adaptations of comics dialing up the "realism" and cutting down on the comic stuff it wouldn't be so much of an issue
The trailer very conspicuously avoided showing ||newbie using the ring to save himself from the car||
I feel like theres just a lot of opportunities where they could have given us more evidence that they will do GL stuff
The title card, the descriptions in interviews, the promotional image, now the trailer
And it's always been "grounded grounded grounded"
If Superman and the supergirl trailer hadn't given me faith in the DCU I would assume they do not have plans to really commit to doing GL stuff
Damn they Hank Pym'd my boy Hal Jordan
A thousand curses upon them
The comments on the video r funny tho
"GREEN COLOUR WILL RETURN IN AVENGERS DOOMSDAY"

There has been a bad precedent of "adult show" = lack of color
That's true yes
And in a bad way
But I was speaking more along the lines of us just waiting for the actual show instead of assuming everything from just a single teaser
Case in point snyder dceu
I will rally against the show if it does end up with a grey brown colour palette in its entirety
But for now I'll wait
I agree, but I also understand people have reason to be angry cuz its Lanterns and dcu
“Cuz it’s Lanterns and DCU” what does that mean?
Lanterns gotta be colorful
DCU is successor of DCEU which has the issue of removing color for "groundednesa"
The Lanterns point is fair. The DCU point less so considering that the DCU is not the DCEU and has very little to do with it
It doesn't but people would be scared
I think the DCU is kind of in a spot where it needs to (or at least, people want it to) prove that its not going the same path
Superman did a great job of that by embracing humanity and colour and weird comicbook stuff
Yeah this
Yes single teasers are solid ways to jduge how a movie looks
But I think to some extent... some people see a colourless, serious, "grounded" lanterns show and go "oh no, is this universe shifting to be like the previous stuff?"
We already know how Green Lanterns look in this universe
Eh
We know how a Green Lantern looked in Superman, we don't know how the overall tone/style (especially for this distinct project) will look
I think people are over reacting a bit
I have hope that it will be similar/the same, but given how different the vibes of the rest of the promo has been from superman, I dont think Superman's GL is a guarantee of the universal standard
I think its an intended effect to have the effect pop in the show
Exactly
I mean I too strongly disliked purely what we saw
But that gives me hope for the contrasting reveal being ever cooler
I think I just wish we'd gotten a little more lantern stuff to give some reassurance that the reveal was coming
Even if it wasnt the colour but just like, the lantern oath
Idk man
I dislike the trailers and teaser revealing a lot
I think right now I just feel like... what makes this not just "hal jordan and john stewart"
What makes this "lanterns"
It doesnt have to be a big reveal
the fact that the shows logo is also grey
I do like the casting/characterisation though
And some of the rumoured casting seems interesting
I wouldnt be surprised if a second trailer gives us a bit more on both the lantern side and the plot side
This does feel like its showing us more the character/tone than anything
Thought: Lanterns promo/GL lore ||there's the whole thing with hal going crazy as parallax right? I wonder if thats already happened, and that's part of why Hal is so... unbothered with things like cleaning his costume||
is the ted show any good i keep seeing clips and its pretty funny
I like the first movie but I find the show is just all around the superior experience
Feels a lot more balanced
||yes, Hal has occasionally been the badguy and a yellow lantern. I could definitely see something like "Hal is subtly teaching John to be afraid" or something as a twist that happens||
||I was thinking more like... maybe there's some distance between hal and the corps because of the aftermath of him going rogue||
||hence him not bothering to keep his uniform in perfect condition + not talking to the others much||
||you know, sending John off the edge of a cliff in a car with the ring within reach is a good way to get him to use his fear ||
No because Pixar needs to stop making sequels
This is where im at. Like let them build some hype instead of instantly going "where green" and "bad because where green" and "i cant trust it because the trailer wasn't colorful enough"
Yeah like Toy Story 4 was bad
This is just wrong
Compleatly devoid is just not correct at all
Trailer should've just shown the entire plot in a minute
Im sick of trailers doing that
And im tired of having to be spoonfed everything. Gunn has earnt some ammount of trust right ????
I just dislike the instant "well it didnt have x thing so I really cant trust at all that this will be good"
We also dont have to justify it we can just wait and see ?
Tbf, this isnt a gunn project
He has 0 hands in this at all?
He has whatever level of oversight his job gives him, but unlike Superman/Peacemaker/CC, he isn't directly making it
I think this is the first real DCU project showing what the majority of the universe will be like, with Gunn overseeing but not directly working on it
I dont think people (myself included) are asking to be spoonfed, but after a lot of superhero movies not committing to the genre, I would like some more evidence that this show isn't afraid of its source material
What super hero movies recently haven't committed to the genre
How recently are we talking by recently?
Thats what im wondering like what movies are you talking about that are not committing to the genre so much that its causing you to doubt future super hero produtcs
Maybe not committing is the wrong phrase, but just the whole trend of like the DCEU and all upping the "realism" and edge on everything
I suppose the snyderverse is sort of a big thing that comes to mind
I may warm up to it with more time, tbh. I'm just disappointed that, after superman, they chose to go with this sort of tone for lanterns when there was a big opportunity to go further into the style that worked well there and could work even better for GL
That's how I was. I heard flak about it years before I had the chance to see it, and when it became available on Netflix, I was like "You know what, despite what I've heard, Imma just see this myself and decide what my own opinion on it will be." And I loved it.
Wonder man kinda
Season 3 is unironically peak
But even that i wouldnt even call anywhere near superhero genre tbh
I think a few of the recent DCU trailers have been a little disappointing for me (but have been things I've warmed up over time). Until recently I hadn't really read any comics, so I'm not as used to having like... expectations going in
the snydeverse is pretty solidly a superhero stuff
Sure, but it tends to go harder on the "darkness" (at least in my experience)
Maybe if I hadnt also been disappointed in the colours of Supergirl I wouldn't be as frustrated
Yessss, it's my favorite
thats not not commiting to the genre though
Yea, that's why I said that may have been the wrong way of phrasing it
I think I'm just a little irked that there's been two DCU projects with the potential to be colourful cosmic stories and the promo of both has heavily featured earthy tones and all
I could get on board with the idea that the superhero genre has a history of abandoning the roots of the specific individual and gravitating towards a gritty street level realism (or at least, a pseudo-gritty pseudo-street level pseudo-realism) whenever there's a concern about a character (especially the hero) not having a lot of history in the live action genre
The most extreme example I can think of is Arrow is really a Batman show
I remember when my mom was watching the CW Arrow show and I would occasionally see parts of it going by and get a gist of it, and I would think "Isn't this just a green Batman with a bow?"
Lanterns casting/rumours + possible spoilers ||yknow what I do find funny? The lanterns trailer gives us very little lanterns powers, basically no aliens, practically no hints at supernatural/non-human stuff, and yet we have confirmation Guy is in the show, casting for sinestro, possibly casting for Arisia(?) and rumours of Black Hand and/or Atrocitus being in the show. So it does seem like its going to pivot hard into GL corps stuff at some point||
||tbf the Arisia thing seems to be entirely because one of the actresses kinda looks like her, I don’t think there’s any real validity to that rumor. But yeah you’re right about the rest of it||
I watched Hoppers, it was hilarious. It had a scene that was probably the loudest I have ever heard a theater gasp
I just watched Sinners in the cinema
I missed it the first time around but a chain here is doing awards season reruns
Unfortunately its one of the worse chains, I really wish now that Id seen it in a cinema with really good sound
I did enjoy it quite a bit but I dont think it blew me away
Leo Woodall has reportedly been cast as Aragorn in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum'
Replacing Viggo Mortensen...
(via Caleb Williams | https://t.co/dyxbONVb4R)
So Viggo is never going to play Aragorn again?
He's old so no probably not
Ian Mckellen too, but I guess I understand the logic
He's gone on a high
And there he wants to leave it
Ian mckellen has been old for about 30 years
I saw a rumour that the hunt for Gollum movie could be the start of a new trilogy of movies
And the idea of having 3 Andy serkis directed movies is scary
Is he a bad director? I don't know if I've seen any of his films
He’s only directed a couple of films, they include Venom 2 and the animated Animal Farm which looks terrible
He was also second unit director on The Hobbit
I think its reasonably difficult to pin all of those projects on him exactly but his track record really is abysmal
2nd unit directors are not reallt doing the same thing directors do
I know, but its still one in a long string of questionable films he's associated with
Damn. Was gonna watch another episode of LoK tonight, but the (1000% legal and legitimate, plz don't question it) place where I was gonna watch it appears to be down. 😔
Many such cases.
We'll see if it is back up tomorrow, otherwise might be time to search for somewhere else.
Ah nevermind, figured it out
Okay, Korra S1E2
||This episode is named "A Leaf in the Wind"||
Me, having watched Serenity:
Ope and life intervenes. Coverage will resume momentarily
TBT to when the show was airing on the Nickelodeon website and it was so bad to use that the pirated websites were actually easier
Having watched it legit in the moment, I'm painfully aware
especially s3
Venom 2?!
That's mad
I wouldn’t mind a Scouring movie, it didn’t really fit the movie trilogy but it could still be a story worth doing if they’re inclined to scrape the barrel
I have now watched Rocky Horror Picture Show
||...What.||
Did you go to a theater
It doesn’t count unless you go to a show
No, we watched it in my friend's dorm
Your school will probably put on a production, you have to go
God I love Rocky Horror
Did they bring props
This is mandatory it’s not a suggestion
Finished Glass Onion. Very good.
It was something with a very different format than Knives Out but I would say it has an even stronger ensemble cast.
We do see Benoit being a lot less poetic with his vocabulary this time around. But that has some to do with Blanc feeling like a fish out of the water in this movie more than the mysterious overwhelming presence he was in Knives Out.
|| I did have a hunch what was happening because they did talk about truth being much simpler earlier on a lot so whenever I saw Blanc dismiss a factor because they think the other person is too smart to do that. I took it into consideration more.
That with the dumb billionaire messaging that is in this story plus what we have already seen in the world.||
Okay finally got around to watching LoK 1-2
||Romantic yearning, already??? lol ||
||Korra and Tenzin were both being idiots that episode, but hey character growth by the end! For both of them!||
||Also Tenzin's kids are delightful.||
Wow, what are the odds. I just watched that same movie last night. Not for the first time, though.
LoK 1-2 ||they are some of my favorite parts of the show . Melo is my fav||
Hell yeah
What was your first and now reaction?
Finally sitting down to watch Epic The Musical. I'm already seeing leitmotif and themes being build up
I like how Odysseus has a reverse character arc. Granted I haven't seen it all play out, but I have watched an hour of the full thing, and I have seen Six Hundred Strike, Hold Them Down, and Odysseus, so it's funny how ||Odysseus gets a reverse character arc. He starts by killing a baby, then he learns to be merciful afterwards, only to have it beaten into him over and over again that mercy is meaningless and he becomes even more ruthless than he was before (granted he would have killed the suitors anyway even if he didn't go through the veritable trauma conga line he did, but the point stands)||
First: blown away by some genuinely surprising twists and excellent story framing. Now: it's still my favorite Benoit Blanc mystery movie. It's fun to pick up on all the little things you wouldn't know to look for the first time.
EPIC ||I feel like his arc is almost just... learning to not feel bad about being merciless. Killing the baby tears him up, his later actions dont||
||I mean to be fair, he also. killed a baby lmao||
||thats what I mean||
||he was ruthless from the start, he just hadn't accepted that he was||
||he starts of struggling with "should I do it, should it not" and ends up just going "I'll do what i need to"||
I'm ngl I never actually knew Odysseus went ot the Underworld in the Odyssey
I haven't fully read it, I just knew the general gist of what happens, but I didn't know about this at all lmao
And then Athena has reverse characterization from Odysseus, ||where she's mad that he's showing mercy, and then at the end she's like "But what if we were more empathetic"||
!BE AWARE! This video contains flashy lights and mild fantasy violence.
IMPORTANT: The original english audio includes sound effects to better accompany the animation. If you’d like to listen to the song without SFX, you can select the “English (US)” audio track in the video settings.
-IT IS FINALLY HERE! I know it’s been some time, b...
OKAY THIS STYLE IS BADASS
This is one of the COOLEST adaptations I've seen of this
Ok people looks like I have to say this again:
Game of Thrones is NOT REALITY
Star Wars is NOT REALITY
GHOSTBUSTERS IS reality
Walking Dead (Seasons 1-3): REALITY
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, James Bond, Frankenstein: NOT SURE
Why is this the first ever adaption of a Homeric story I’ve which used the boar tooth helmets
Also it was super cool. And it made of Odysseus a barely human monster taking revenge, which is an interesting take
Also the chanting in the background is Γνῶθι σεαυτόν, the Delphic Maxim carved into the temple of Apollo at Delphic and means “know thyself” which implies this violence and rage and calculated horror of toying with the suitors before slaughter them is Odysseus’s truest self
Ghostbusters ||Where were you when the Stay Puff Man terrorised New York?||
What does Reality in this context mean?
That the op is telling a joke
Oh
Literally anything except the Community movie 😭
Wait what was the first one?
The more things change, the more things stay the same 😌
I have to imagine the heated rivalry people knew about yuri on ice
I thought heated rivalry was a canadian and a russian
I saw it described as Crosby and Ovechkin
Japanese-Canadian guy and a Russian guy
Epic The Musical ||Thinking about how if post-underworld Odysseus met Circe, he would have just killed her and the nymphs||
The Wire season 4 ||I had some time off the last few days and i sat down and watched this season. I finished it a few hours ago and i gave myself a little time to let it sit with me. I think it's the greatest season of television i've ever watched. Focusing this season on the children and the education system was the perfect backdrop for this season. The writers did a great job of showing how the children grow up in a sympathetic way||
||Even the other plot lines of Carcetti's mayoral race and Bubbles with sherrod is handled perfectly||
just a flawless season of television with the best child acting i've ever seen
||It's very impressive that the season that has the least focus on McNulty who is one of the best characters in the show is this good. It was for the best that McNulty took a step back this season because it let the other characters shine. Namond, Michael and all the other kids do a great job acting as the leads of this season and prez is also written very well in role||
One Piece s2e1 ||So much just has the vibe of being elevated from season 1||
One Piece all ||Im not sold on Dragon's actor though||
One Piece all ||They slappppped with Brook||
One Piece S2 all ||Oh he looks AMAZING||
one piece s2e1 ||The "and you thought we were going to skip loguetown" line is very cheeky||
wait it's out
It did say today when it was tomorrow yesterday
That's crazy
Despite how disappointing s1 was for me
I loved S1 so really excited to jump into this
Like there are for sure things I wish S1 did better but my brain still fundamentally needs to consume this and see how it is, and fast
opla s2e3 ||Oh man the fight with 100 agents is sooo goood||
I’m going to a movie theater for the first 2 episodes tonight
I thought S1 was great
Few things I didn’t like, but overall I loved it
They are playing that in theaters?
alright starting
My one hope is ||they make an attempt to fix and rebuild Usopp's character arc to make up for how they just completely cut everything important about it in S1||
But I know they probably won't
Yeah. Just tonight.
Man, like
Whatever complaints I sometimes have with how they execute the story
It's just so cool to see this universe executed in such a high-effort way
OPLA S1 ||yeah Syrup village is probably what bugs me the most||
Purely in terms of visuals I just love seeing the aesthetic, the costumes and environments of this universe, brought into live action in a way that feels coherent
I love the clear passion for the storytelling from everyone involved
Like just watching scenes of the marines doing stuff it doesn't feel like an awkward, cringe attempt at live action, it feels like yeah I'm actually watching what this would be if it was real actors and not through an art style
(And the casting is great)
one scene in
oh it is GREAT

I was so excited for PHM, and now I'm worrying it won't meet those expectations.
Project Hail Mary is a science fiction adventure film produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and written by Drew Goddard, based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir. It stars Ryan Gosling (who is also a producer), Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub. The film follows Ryland Grace, a man who awakens on an in...
And its because of how specific she got with the differences and exactly where they are.
OPLA S2E1 ||I don't know how they're going to handle the season finale, but I really like how it feels like they're setting up Miss All Sunday as the season villain, showing her from the start.||
One piece all/LA s2e4 ||KAROO NAMEDROPPED 🔥 ||
OPLA S2E1 + OP all ||Revealing Roger has a son this early?? Not sure how I feel about this. More than one way it could go.||
||I mean I do like the idea of baiting new viewers into thinking it's Luffy lol||
||I watched a reaction specifically to see if they would take it this way and yes, they immediately took the bait||
OPLA S2E1 ||Man I just love seeing them banter and yap as a crew||
Oh no. I probably won’t watch this but seeing people say the movie was good had me excited that maybe it would be a good adaptation for once.
But I do feel like if I read the book first, I never like the adaptation.
Expanse is weird because I watched the show and loved it, read the books, and then started to rewatch the show. I only got through part of season 2 but I still genuinely thought the adaptation was good. And I am pretty sure that’s the only time that has happened
Opla s2e4 ||Mr 5s boat has the sunglasses
||
OPLA S2E1 + OP ALL ||THAT'S WHO I THINK IT IS RIGHT THERE THAT'S MY LITTLE MEOW MEOW||
Hahaha
Damn they really showed the goat
Review ||Jenevia I know does have a very specific perspective on things, but it was really her examples, especially in regards to the science that are what have me worried here. That was what I loved so much about the book. Its less about the other stuff in the premise for me. And if the movie didn't get that right then I don't think I'll enjoy it as much||
tho p sure his character design was supposed to be different at this piont
Op all ||That is his logue town design||
||in his brief flashback in dressrosa||
yeah I got confused
OPLA S2E1 @oak ivy @oak ivy @oak ivy this is not a drill
idgi || for tashigi? ||
he's a fan
ah
OPLA S2E1 ||ngl i absolutely love this guy he's such a corny doof and they're already portraying him really well||
Ahh gotcha hmm maybe I will watch the video. Will have to deliberate on that.
I’ll probably go see the movie in theaters just to see what I think
||Ipponmatsu's actor was so good||
Yeah I don't think I'll be able to catch it in theatres because I have so much to do these two weeks and then I'm traveling, but I am curious to watch it eventually.
Also there was a screening of the new ATLA movie for the cast and crew apparently and they all thought it was great and deserves to be on the big screen and that Paramount pulling it from theaters is not at all about the quality of the movie or lack of confidence in the finished product.
And obviously grain of salt and all that because they’re invested in it, but it does sound like one hell of a shame that the movie is going direct to streaming
Ahh yeah makes sense!
Dying for an ATLA movie trailer
Not optimistic we’ll get one any time soon due to the direct to streaming nonsense though
That's what makes it something that just constantly puts a smile on my face. They didn't just do the main characters justice and phone in the rest. They've put so much effort even into the random side characters most people don't remember or care about, but matter to me.
they even added sbs only characters
that's what had made me so excited in the first couple of eps of OPLA
I heard S2E1 has a ||cameo of my favorite
||
Manga all ||Sabo that is||
Opla s2e4 ||The pomegranate is the most formidable opponent||
OPLA S2E1 ||This random dude selling fish is some kind of part-fishman with a head like that. It's a show that understands Oda's creative spirit on at least some level.||
We cook
OPLA S2E1 ||Okay Ipponmatsu has been great but they cut his wife coming in and yelling at him for giving stuff away for free so I'm still somewhat disappointed||
OPLA S2E1
|| Do they show dragon || OP/OPLA
I'm still watching man
ah okay okay
OPLA S2E1 + OP manga ||are we not getting luffy up on the platform? okay i'm guessing that buggy probably brings him up there during the fight rather than luffy going up on his own. which is a little eh but probably works too i guess.||
OPLA S2E1
||Jeff Ward continues to have the time of his life||
OPLA S2E1 ||I was about to say it seemed like they cut this scene. I am so glad they didn't. It is extremely important.||
||this is so corny i love him||
||courtroom Buggyyyy||
OPLA S2E1 ||I'm really curious how first-time viewers will react to Luffy being saved by lightning. It's such an important moment thematically but I think people tend to not quite grasp what it's saying and why the story chose that, on their first time.||
OPLA S2E1 ||aura||
Yep
OPLA S2E1 ||Okay I really don't like his acting lmao his line delivery is way too overdramatic||
OPLA S2E1 ||Ooh this is a really cool scene||
They are cooking
My mind is racing with cool things the story could do with this
hmm?
OP ||Y'know, it's a scenario the story only constructed in the first place to make a point about fate, but I've seen many people initially just think "what, lightning randomly struck? what a lucky asspull to get him out of that"||
OPLA S2E2 ||I do wish they kept in more of the comedic aspect of Crocus's character||
opla s2e5 + op all ||"My wax is as hard as steel, clearly youre not strong enough to cut it but do keep trying." Cheeky season 3 foreshadow||
OPLA S2E2 ||...did they really just do a monster house reference||
OPLA S2E2 ||very excited for miss wednesday one of my favorite minor characters||
opla s2e5 ||I wonder if Oda drew these versions of the straw hats in the baroque works files||
opla s2e1 ||I agree I dont think his performance was particularly good||
op all ||What did you think of the Sabo appearance?|| @novel bear
op all ||crack for monkeygirl||
oh one piece dropped, I was wondering why it was looking like a bunch of redacted files in here
opla s2e5 ||MR 0 APPEARS||
opla s2e5 ||Holy hell they did actually show Sanji snapping the vulture's neck
||
||I assumed it would be changed to something slightly tamer idk||
||hahaha the den den mushis have an automatic on hold option that plays the 2nd one piece theme song
||
||omg this scene
||
opla s2e5 ||MR PRINCE APPEARS||
OPLA S2E2 + OP manga all ||Idk how I feel about Miss Wednesday helping save Usopp, I kinda just prefer her as totally cartoonishly evil until later stuff||
opla s2e5 ||Does this imply the existance of Pippi Longstocking in the one piece world?||
OPLA S2E2 + OP manga all ||that pose...||
OPLA S2E2 ||Very disappointed they cut Luffy fighting Laboon||
||still gave him a big bonk on the eye||
Woooooooo! First reviews for PHM are great
Also: I am watching Gravity for the frist time rn, about 30 minutes in
Literally
Op all ||it is there just for me||
Gravity ||I have to say it really really annoys me just how wildly incompetent Sanda Bullock's character seems to be? All she has done so far this movie is panic and get saved repeatedly. Why would they send her in to space?||

Found this interesting video essay today.
||I think the points she made about Hollywood being able to show the full impact of cheating but choosing to always gloss over it as a way to manufacture tension without having to do any actual work was very insightful.||
Romance movies have convinced us that cheating isn’t betrayal, it’s "true love"

OPLA S2E3 ||I'm not really a fan of how much they're building to the reveal and telling you there's more going on. I kinda prefer it as just a sudden surprise switchup.||
I don’t like Jim and Pam being on here
ah yes OPLA S2 is out now! I am not gonna click these messages bc I dont want spoilers. but how have you all liked it? so far?
similar to S1?
OPLA S2E3 ||Peak.||
better so far
nice
What I’m seeing is generally higher opinions than S1
I would say so far the ratio of "I really like how they've done this and it's making me smile" vs. "It's annoying me how it's different/lacking compared to the original" is better than for S1
But that's a perspective from a fan
For a first-time watcher? I feel like there's nothing to complain about, it's just great
better acting, direction, scripts, effects, the works so far
is the whole season out? Or are they doing a staggered release
There's an extensive section on them lol
She loves them as a couple, but (rightfully, imo) has issues with the circumstances surrounding their relationship and the choices they made to be there.
Op all/ops2e6 ||Blackbeard mentioned!!!||
OPLA S2E3 ||herrrrrrrrrrrrrr||
||She's her||
TBF literally most of that was on Pam just not dumping Roy, and when she finally DID dump him she got back with him again immediately
It’s also on a culture that justifies cheating
Jim did nothing substantially wrong IMO, he made things a LITTLE awkward at points but he had eventually gotten over Pam after he went to the Stanford branch
XMen 97 is the most egregious example of cheating for me
Nah that’s not true. (Office) ||he specifically tells her he has a crush on her and then kisses her, later making out with her, while she is still with Roy||
The X-Men cheat on each other constantly, this is not new
||it’s just “okay” and “justified” because they smear Roy’s character so the cheating is “ok”||
I can name at least 50 instances where Scott cheats on Jean with Emma
Easy: they don’t adapt that
Opla s2e6/op all ||Otohime mentioned||
The relationship drama is what makes the X-Men smh
That’s like adapting Game of Thrones without the violence
It is the part of the show that I despise, so no it does not

'One Piece' Producers Tomorrow Studios to Adapt 'Samurai Champloo' With Creator Shinichirō Watanabe (EXCLUSIVE) https://t.co/EakQYmk1X9
YES
YES
YEAHHHH
Please try to adapt it well I beg
It shouldn’t be hard
It shouldn’t be hard
Wantanabe is gonna be a big part of it apparently which is a VERY good sign
ive not been impressed with watanabe's recent work as well
I mean they also made the OPLA
So
It’s kind of a coin flip
And again, them consulting Wantanabe is a good thing, regardless of his recent work, I don’t think they did that with Cowboy Bebop
OPLA S2E4
I see the vision
/jk
Seeing the bride today. Kinda disappointed by the reviews but I'm curious to see it nonetheless
🫡 have fun, hope you enjoy it!
the trailers looked interesting to me, but I havent seen any reviews yet
Ok I just watched the video and she kind of cooked?
I pretty much agree with all of her points there
I will never not love Jim and Pam though
OPLA S2e1||his lines also sounded a bit weird, like they were recorded in a soundbooth and not on set directly||
I know! That's why I wanted to recommend it here. This is the first thing I've ever watched by her and I really liked the style and the depth of the analysis.
im watching some of her other vids now, she said PHM was her most anticpated movie of 2026 and her favorite book of all time 😎
for the martian i liked the movie and disliekd the book lmao
so im fine with any differences ngl
fwiw I have seen about 20 other book readers review the movie and they all loved it, she seems to be the minority opinion for now
Watching a review that gets specific before the movie is dangerous imo. It makes the flaws stand out way more
op all ||The costume designers are going to be so disappointed when it moves to longer arcs and they dont get to create multiple fits for the main characters, even the villains have gotten different fits for different islands
||
OPLA S2E5 ||so are they just not doing the instinct moment. that's really disappointing.||
I'm only seeing PHM next week but I doubt it'll be worse than the book
The book is fine but it's not very deep
Which is cool but I have a higher chance of liking a not-deep movie than a book
yeah i like schlocky mid movies a lot mroe than schlocky mid books
i like ryan goslign though so im proably gonna see it
Hard Boiled is one of my fav films ever and HK action flicks in general is probably my fav genre/era of movies
Doubt I'd like them much in text form though
OPLA S2E6 ||I think they're kinda overdoing the climb tbh. In the manga they don't have Luffy declare he's going to climb up the mountain, ask Nami if she wants him to carry her up the mountain, and just keep yapping about it. They just get to the point where things go wrong, the only option left is to climb it with his bare hands, and he does it. It feels less impactful because of how much time they're spending on it.||
||I just don't like overbearing heroic music during things like this. Maybe it's my preference, but I'd prefer brutal intense music, or just no music at all.||
Interesting.
OPLA S2E1 ||BRUH WHAT IS THAT||
||a perfectly normal hair style||
||alternately, a stand user||
Pizza you are going hard
I can’t even start until after the premiere tonight 💔
Probably gonna watch the rest with my parents so no binging it all in one day RIP
OPLA S2E7 ||Are we not doing Hiriluk getting naked. Disappointing.||
Pizza would want to see that
Wait I thought this was all talking about S2E1
I stand corrected
OPLA S2E1 ||damn, this sword sales man went from trying to scam the hell out of Zoro to giving him 2 free swords 😎 ||
||impressive haggling Zoro
||
I need to watch OPLA
You havent???
honestly what appeals to me most about the live action is that the pacing isnt complete ass
