let's say yes
Probably Samalamadingdong and that's it then
Last season of Gamechanger had an ARG leading to a secret episode
My ideal Mistborn era 1 adaptation is a "15" episode miniseries with five episodes / book and then a secret unadvertised 16th episode for Secret History
I know the Adult Swim series Aqua Teen Hunger Force did it
(and then they did a revival movie & season anyway)
The acting in PJO is soooo good
You gotta just film secret history as you go an release unannounced
I should put "unadvertised" in scare quotes too because there should be hints, maybe like an ARG, the number "15" is always shown set in metal, etc etc etc
It would be so cool if each episode started with the excerpts like the books do with the chapters
Mistborn era 1 all ||solely because I can picture like ep 14 ending with Sazed getting back to the letter and checking the bottom and going “oh my god” but not showing it, and then the next episode starts with the “he must not be allowed to free what is trapped there” or w/e the line is||
||Well in Kon's plan ep 15 would be the end of Hero of Ages and ep 14 right before it||
||Nah the end credits should just be Kelsier in the mist and then just Mistborn secret history drops tomorrow || Mistborn secret history
Mistborn general ||Kelsier Will Return in The Ghostbloods||
||Then Secret history should have a post credit where they suprised drop fake tv shows with Kelsier. Cooking with Kelsier, Survivor, etc || Mistborn general
cosmere all ||kelsier will return kind of but not really in stormlight it doesnt matter
||
||Dancing with the scars ||
Cosmere all ||i assume he’ll be relevent again in Ghostbloods||
Cosmere all ||“Thaidakar will return” and people who don’t know will be like who the hell is Thaidakar||
Presumably
||Hoid in drag on a horse special guest Kelsier ||
Modern star wars marketing be like
Cosmere all ||Kelsier was the tuxedo mask meme in SA||
ST S5E7 || The video about how half the dialogue is the same keeps hitting
Also kids are dumb and people are scary ||
I hate how right this video is. Multiple times in S5 E7…
The show really has become little more than white noise at this point
Why do they keep doing this
ST S5E7 || Oh yeah Mike exists
||
I'm not getting the Stranger Things hate, tbh
I thought season 5 was great, just like all the other seasons except kind of season 3. Same general level of quality.
Season 1 was really something exceptional
I think season 1 was great
People wanted it to be that good again and it just never got there
I will agree that Season 1 was the best
I never really expected them to top it, but I thought the quality was pretty consistent all the way through save for a couple occasional dips.
I think seasons 2 and 4 were my personal favorites. 2 felt to me like a natural continuation of 1 and that the story could have ended there, and I think 4 had some of the best individual scenes in the show.
It’s kind of like how season one of true detective set the bar so high that everything after just looked meh in comparison
Most notably, S4 E4 ||That "Running Up That Hill" sequence made the song popular for a reason. I truly think that's the greatest scene in the entire show. Narrative tension at its finest. That was when ST really peaked, imo. Was never better than that before or after.||
If I were to rank the seasons, 5 would be fourth place, but I don't dislike any of them. Even if 3 was generally my least favorite, I still really liked it for the most part.
I just think it's a good show and I like it
5 just says like nothing
the themes just arent there
and the aesthetic and VFX are by far the worst in the whole show
also nothing happeneing with s4s ending and it just getting ignored is such a baffling decision
||Krypto isn’t the only one that’s gonna be barking in the theater||
she looks like she hasn't showered for weeks 😭
No she’s just hungover
I feel like that venn diagram could also be a circle
She’s a mess but she’s my mess
she can make me worse
The very opposite of “I can fix her” she can make me worse
For me with stranger things, s1 was great, s2 was alright, and then s3 felt like it had veered away from what I enjoyed about s1 and got too much into body horror and so I dnfed it
don't give DC fans any ideas
Did... you forget forget that you posted the same picture in here 5 hours ago? #1364954411582885899 message
Really got it bad, huh?
I’m just in a lot of servers and I forget what I post and where I post it
And my memory sucks
You can always check your post history in a given channel to see if you're unsure
The media tab is also a nice at-a-glance if it was a photo or video
The Batman Pt 2 leak thing ||https://fxtwitter.com/everythingdcu_/status/2009046113488421149||
||clearly concept art but yeah I think that confirms who Stan is playing||
I love this
Batman Part 2 casting ||Scarlett Johansson is gonna be in it too||
Batman part 2 speculation ||I wonder what villain they’re doing?? I actually don’t think they’re doing Harvey as Two-Face in this and he’ll just be a good guy DA for the whole, I hope they adapt Court of Owls||
Batman 2 ||Scarlett is gonna be playing Harvey’s wife/partner in the movie and there’s been speculation that she’s playing a villain role so maybe she’s on the Court??||
||sounds like Long Halloween stuff||
||I don't remember her having anything to do with the Court of Owls||
||they could always combine stuff ||
||Batman movie based after long halloween, no no this cant be this has never been done before this is a totally original idea im shocked||
||almost as an original idea as a batman movie taking inspiration from year one||
||Reeves said they’re doing a villain that hasn’t been done before, so I’m interested in that||
||tbh I'm taking that with a grain of salt||
||iirc he said "hasn't really been done before" and even without that I see a lot of wiggle room with that||
Close enough, welcome back Johnlock conspiracy
Great now they will do this for some other show
they wouldn't have gotten any ad money for this crash
The crash is part of the conspiracy, the episode is coming
I haven’t watched stranger things since season 2 but how bad of an ending does it have to be for millions to think the ending was fake
So it’s an overreaction to a mid ending
therte was a lot of weird inconsistencies
and the show set up looking for incosistencies as an illusion
Me: man I cant wait for Primal to come back, im sure its a few months out so I'll check
Adult Swim: no sweetie this comes out Sunday, have fun!
Peak is finally returning (ignoring s2's end)
The title for episode six of Percy Jackson is great ||”Nobody gets the Fleece” though I am not sure if the Nobody gambit will work here as Polythemeis seems to be a lot smarter here than in the book.||
Is PJ s2 coming out??
PJ S2E6 ||I am finding show Polythemis much more interesting than the book version.||
||Ooo Pan gave the Fleece to Poly||
Something I am really liking about S2 is that it is able to surprise me, despite or perhaps because I have read the books so many times.
I understand why everyone says you're 40
PJ S2E6 ||Percy gave Luke the Fleece, it is his fatal flaw, sacrificing everything to save those he loves.||
For my New Year's Resolution I wanted to watch 10 movies i would not otherwise watch. Here is what i watched and my ranking
The Truman Show - actually incredible
Starship Troopers - somehow VERY RELEVANT
Singin in the Rain - no one told me musicals could be good
Sing Sing - more movies should try and be like this
rocky horror - needed more meatoaf
Fargo - he was funny lookin yaaa
Before Sunrise - i wish romance was real
Hundreds of Beavers - it should have been like 40 mins shorter
the green knight - juice is not worth the squeeze
SW Ep 8 - somehow it really is that bad
tagging my favorite cinephile @dim fog , kino and all that
starship troopers is one of those yeah, we are never getting another film like that movies
The Truman Show is one of my favorites
partially bc it made no money
truman show is probably my second favorite movie ever
easy 10/10
Also love how good of an actor he is in Truman show. Ppl sometimes forget just how good of an actor he is when he takes things semi seriously. Especially because of his nature to just be a crazy silly goofball
Haven't actually heard about Jim in a few years
Wonder how hes going
the thing is, i dont like jim carey as an actor
Neil Patrick Harris always jump scares me in that cause ill not watch it in long enough that I forget hes in it
but he absolutely destroys that movie
also he is approx 8 years old in the film

watch the fargo show its so good
better than the movie
S2 is probably one of the best seasons of television ever its so good
pleased to have your top three already on lock
i will check out more for sure though
i mean i'm not watching TLJ again by my choice
i am gonna try the green knight no matter what
that one seems very individual
i didnt like the green knight but i certainly see someone liking it
TLJ i have no such hopes
hundreds of beavers is a masterpiece btw
its way too long ill say it
Noah hawley is super good at captruing that coen brothers vibe
Don’t mention TLJ outside of the Star Wars channel, they’re listening
im gonna get shot for my take on TLJ
flashbacks to the week where the same TLJ convo was had every day not again
It is a bad movie
I tried watching rocky horror last year and didn't (and don't want to) finish it
It’s best watched with a shadow cast
Rocky horror isnt really a movie at this point
It was originally a stageplay then adapted into a film
I had complicated feelings about some of the characters that made it just not something I could really comfortably enjoy
I don’t like Star Wars breaching containment
I just wish we could be in a time line where the starwars sequals were as good or better than the prequels
Ep 3 really drags up the GPA there
your in it
And I thought I dissagreed with @oak ivy on a lot of things
Jet Lag 16.4 ||Ben got absolutely screwed.||
They’re doing so much to elevate jt.
Yeah it’s a great movie.
It’s such a fascinating choice because it makes so much sense and gives us stakes
Was just on the Wikipedia page for one of the heated rival leads
This show was so indie he didn’t have acting representation until after the show started airing?????
My hot take is that the sequels, while still not as good as the originals, are still above 1 and 2 (not 3 though)
(Though 9 is definitely very close to being below 1)
My hot take is my entire ranking (3>4>2>6>9>5>1>8>7 as of my last full rewatch, a bit out of date though I should plan another one)
I'd just say that the prequels and sequels have dramatically different strengths and weaknesses
my hot take is prob 5 > 7 > 4 > 6 >The rest i find equally eh
Good takes
Starship Troopers was very good
I went and watched Robocop immediately afterward
which was even better
Interesting. I am watching 10 more movies this year, so if you have any reccs lmk
Gonna just brain dump my goats
Playtime
F for Fake (I think this is one of the most important films ever, especially in the AI era)
Uncut Gems
Black Dynamite
Memories of Murder
No Country for Old Men
12 Angry Men
Sicario (Also relevant)
Do The Right Thing
Perfect Blue
In the Mood for Love
The Thing
Casablanca
Paperman
Black Dynamite mention??? 🤩
I rewatched sicario the other day and it was even better than I remembered
Ive been meaning to watch in the mood for love for quite a while
Uncut gems is my favorite fargo sequel
Iirc I was trying to find a version online with the original colour grade, instead of a remastered version? 🤔
Or something like that
I will take some number of these movies for my 10
That's the only thing I know about this movie
There are others that are locked in
Paperman is a short film so just slap that harmony in there and watch on youtube
I think i have already decided on
The Big Red One
Moonlight
Bladerunner
Shawshank Redemption
The Good, The Bad, And the Ugly
Also im surprised you listed perfect blue. Werent you a black swan truther or was that someone else?
As in BS > PB
They're both pefect
Although if PB is also a favorite this loses meaning
I prefer black swan though
Moonlight is a great film
last year was not a great movie year for me
Alien, the Thing, The Rock, Speed, Mask of Zorro
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon
i got too much on my watchlist 😭
Were there any banger films that released last year?
oh man
Bruh
Wake Up Dead Man
Sinners, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Wake Up Dead Man
Weapons
Fire and Ash
I should add sinners to my list
Drop the top 4 bestie
Ok how does letterboxd work with likes
Does that just mean you like a movie? Is there any other reason to click it?
Also based of you for not giving into the hivemind and giving LotR a 5
i do not remember why i liked that film lol
How many of thor’s 2 stars is Natalie Portman
sorry i don't like marvel 🤭
i don't update my reviews and i was coping pretty hard walking out lol
Spider-Man 2 does, at least
Curiously no SW9 review in my log
Edge of Tomorrow, Kill Bill, and Tron Legacy being low is criminal
Cant remember how to change favorites on letterboxd
SW 9 kills children’s joy
tron legacy is legit a 1 star film without a daft punk soundtrack
sure but it does have the daft punk soundtrack
10/10 visuals, 10/10 soundtrack, 5/10 story, 5/10 acting
Alpaca I have to say, you have great movie taste
(I do not and have never liked any of the Raimi Spider-man movies)
Everyone should see soul btw, top 3 Pixar movie
Kon are we best friends now????
But my 4 would be EEAAO, Sing Sing, Bladerunner and Look Back
I never watched the Garfield spidey films, I watched the Garfield ones 25 years ago or whatever and not since
err the Raimi ones
what's tobey's name again
tobey
But kon! It's pizza time
that's unironically how my brain asked that question, I need help
Maguire
Also just saw you out Gravity at 5* and I’m officially confused
More people should watch Sing Sing it is essential viewing 7/10
I still haven't watched spider-man homecoming despite having seen the two sequels to it
watch it in imax and you'll understand
I never cared much for 'watching it in order' for movies I guess
I'm convinced the Raimi Spider-man movies benefitted in the public mind from the same Star Wars prequel memeification of that era of the internet
They messed up basic physics
I watched Strange 2 without WandaVision despite all warnings to the contrary
No Duck, you’re going to watch the Raimi movies until you like them
I did see it in IMAX
MJ in those movies is maybe the worst film character of all time
The number 1 movie on my list engages in non-euclidean geometry I don't care about physics when the movie rips like that haha
It was so unrealistic it destroyed my suspension of disbelief. Don’t name it gravity then not obey the laws of gravity
my page 2 of ranings
The fact that Ursula is the only girl that was even remotely nice to Peter in the Raimi movies
Should have left MJ for her smh
All Is Lost is the same movie as Gravity (except at sea instead of in space) and stars Robert Redford and is executed way better imo
No way solo is good
Oof
????????????????
The third is genuinely one of the best MCU movies ever
And one of the best movies of that phase
I left the theater so sad
Oh wait I actually do remember you saying something a while ago about how you didn’t like it
Now I remember
One of the most self indulgent pieces of filmmaking I've ever seen
I think third has a really good storlyine (rocket) and a bunch of bad dialogue pretending to be deep
i just do not have any emotional attachment to marvel
These were my 4 favourites the last time I used the app
Cinephile final boss
Film bro final boss
that is not final boss
His breakfast order moved me
Lewis spent 3 years ordering breakfast to prepare for the role
I feel like those are 4 films a normal film watcher would watch, it’s nothing crazy
Oooo I wanna watch more movies this year
Or I could watch sinners again, that could be fun
bravo daniel
Here’s my top 5, you can laugh at me don’t worry
Now method acting is everyone laughing at Jeremy strong smh
Or top 4
I can’t count

I’m not even gonna edit that, I’ll just leave it there in shame
Spider-verse deserves that placement
Literally changed animated films forever
Also most @molten jetty coded top 4 in history
And it’s the greatest comic book movie of all time period
no Pride and Prejudice
Minus Spiderverse lmao
Wrong. Spiderverse 2.
You don't understand. He's only seen four movies, so this is his complete top 5
Funny enough they’re actually very interchangeable to me, you can honestly just count that spot as the two Spider-Verse movies
The tv show doesnt qualify
Middle two are based, outer two are on my watchlist
What’s a movie
You know what ryan? Fair.
I'd have ROTS and ATSV and idk what else
RotS is my favorite Star Wars movie, but I don't know if it would rank very high overall lmao
Iron Man and ITSV are definitely up there
off topic guys, but I really really love this scene so very much!
https://youtu.be/r-qOgm1sLP0?si=nsHz5Mx7bbGSrsYf
The Royal Ball dance from the movie Cinderella.
Prince Charming : Richard Madden
Cinderella : Lily James
Director : Kenneth Branagh
A Walt Disney Production
I do not own the credits.
I do need to watch way more movies
When I do watch things, they're usually shows
Same
My top 4 are Princess Bride, Stardust, EEAAO, A New Hope
Behold, the song of my people
https://www.tumblr.com/fiollaigean/774159242320068608/kidnapping-stalking-insanity-sleepwalking
"the magnus archives sounds cool! what are the content warnings?"
fiollaigean
kidnapping stalking insanity sleepwalking cannibalism and teeth, gaslighting gun violence pipe murder and silence and medical trauma and meat. bugs in your body and poisoned black coffee and self-mutilation and lies, police brutality breaks from reality suicide spiders and eyes. paaaaaranoia degloving the uncanny valley and running like prey to survive, agonies torture and drowning and falling and then being buried alive.
there all solid Except dead poets society
How dare you
Dead Poets Society is amazing
When are we getting a sung version
Would you believe I'm working on it right now
no
Well I am. And I'm debating exactly how over the top to go with it
Im feeling whimsical
I have stupid ideas
Also keep in mind I've never listened to the magnus archives so I'm going purely based on vibes here
There's no such thing as too much
Playtime is great
Watched it for the first time last summer
Assuming you mean playtime directed by Jacques Tati and not a different movie
I spent way too long on this yall
I'm so sorry the last note is off-key but my feet were freezing because that was like the fifth take
omg that's amazing
Three thoughts:
- My God, It really is just a different flavored Way of Water
- My God, these sudden inexplicable changes in the frame rate are jarring
- My God, Varang absolutely steals the movie from everyone else. So much fun to watch
you should! and this is great, good job
Thanks
I thought the cloak and the bare feet in the snow added a lot of aura
And can you maybe tell I was a choir kid?
Oh also I didn't memorize the lyrics
I printed them out on a sheet of paper and taped it to the side of the house
Oh and I had a karaoke version of the song playing on an earbud so I stayed on time, and I started that by having my computer mouse in my pocket while my computer was inside the house
Felt very Rube-Goldberg but I'm happy with the results
Pitt Season 2 Time!
So I’m hearing some more stuff about Man of Tomorrow
||Wonder Woman is gonna be in it, Gunn already met with some actresses for the role before the holidays, so I expect a shortlist at the end of this month, casting next month||
||Batman won’t be in Man of Tomorrow but there will apparently be a reference to him||
Again all this is pure speculation
I’m in a DCLeaks server and they all tend to get scoops
But sometimes they’re wrong
So take it with a grain of salt
I watched Train Dreams tonight and was thinking about how much I like the Joel Miller archetype but then was thinking that he's probably not the first, right? Does anyone know what earlier iterations of the character there are?
I.e gruff old man with a heart of gold deep down inside him, brought out by his connection to family/friends
@merry heath I know you're a TMA fan
I respect memes with a lot of effort put into them
I literally of 5 minutes ago finished e200 on my relisten
True Grit is kind of the "classic" version of this I think
The Witcher is also sort of that
Wolverine is commonly that way with X-23 and I'm pretty sure that kind of depiction predates The Last of Us
You know I’ve been meaning to check out Sicario just by nature of it being Arrival’s director 🤔
To be clear, her mother is Nyassa al Ghul, not Talia. Shes Damian’s cousin
Even better. If you preordered you could have been listening to it this whole time.
Got some real bangers on there
I think that X23/Wolverine thing is more of a movie thing
Why is she called featherweight 😭
Lowkey... its giving the same energy as snowflake and safe space but not THAT bad 😭
what are comics
Her whole design is giving caricature 😭
Especially the thigh high socks
She has unexplained magic super strength but is a small person. Shes also bisexual and transgender
what is the general reaction to this character
I saw one post about her when she was introduced and people seemed to find the costume funny
the panel is from this run https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Cheetah_%26_Cheshire_Rob_the_Justice_League_Vol_1
I do 🙂
Sicario is one of the best films of the recent decade and, I think, a rather poignant film in our current moment.
Binging JJ McCullough videos to try and steal his accent for my next DnD character
Angry Canadian noises
Those two would’ve killed in a indie webcomic made by a queer person
Unironically I 10000% agree
8 TIMES??? Holy moly https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2009019209758724409?s=20
Warner Bros has rejected Paramount’s 8th attempt to buy the studio
(Source: https://t.co/1lK0GENUn1)
Definition of “she don’t want you bro”
This is starting to become restraining order territory
Yeah! They were doing a song a week drop in the last couple months of 2025 on bandcamp
Apparently they also said the Netflix WB merger would be illegal
Characters marvel should bring back
I haven't seen a coherent argument that Paramount's bid would more easily pass a fair legal process, but I assume Paramount is trying to imply they expect a political favor or something
their argument is about fiduciary responsibility I think
if the offer is lucrative enough to shareholders then the board is legally required to accept it
I suppose, but I've seen the board's counterarguments and they seem stronger? Paramount is paying a bit more but also getting more (they also want the Discovery side of the business), and Netflix would have to be paid a back-out fee at this point
yeah but that can equally be turned on its head. They would say the more they are getting includes the properties that are negative on their books
but the back out fee is a bigger issue and one i think may not hold up to scutiny id have to look more into it
Paramount's offer is more money on paper but requires debt equal to something like 6x the market cap of the company. The reasons WB has given as to why it's bad are pretty compelling.
the point that's being raised is that shareholders theoretically aren't supposed to care about what happens to a company after they sell it, all a board is supposed to consider is how to make the most money. The board argues that rejecting the offer is the way to make the most money, because that's the argument they have to make
(at least as long as they're not getting a share of the new company or something)
Yes but the issue is that all the debt, even if they potentially get more money for stakeholders, makes it less likely that the sale actually goes through.
Watching Ethel & Ernest and its so good so far!
Sebastian Stan has officially joined ‘THE BATMAN 2’ as Harvey Dent.
(via @THR | https://t.co/xpXWZZuHxu)
Didn't they say that The Batman 2 wouldn't have villains who already had movies about them
Or was that just the main villain
it would have a villain who hasn't really been done before
I actually don’t think Harvey is gonna be Two-Face in this
He’s just gonna be Harvey Dent
The DA
which is why my guess is bane
I want to see the Penny Plunderer in an ultra-serious threat villain kinda way
I want to see Calendar Man
Penny Plunderer is now the ultimate obsolete villain since we are no longe making pennies
Or maybe that’s why he’s out again, he’s trying to force the penny back to relevance
Hey DC comics, I have a pitch for you!!!!
Well you see, because pennies aren't being minted, their value can only go up!
Well, technically theyve always been worth less than their scrap value
Comic where he holds everyone in the U.S. Mint hostage until they start making pennies again
something something price of copper something something?
Penny Plunderer: "I will force the American Government to print pennies again!"
Batman: "Egads, you fiend! Don't worry, President Tonald Drump, I'll protect you!'
And then it becomes a buddy cop movie with Batman and the Legally Distinct President of the United States™
And of course, he's portrayed by a very famous former actor. A well known Republican and a man who ran for office and succeeded. Yes, he is portrayed by the one, the only
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Godzilla minus 2
2 days before my birthday is kinda hype ngl
if you substract 0 from godzilla, it's just godzilla 🤔
Wow godzilla is gonna be in the movie?? I love that guy
He has some very nice legs
Godzilla -(-1) comes next, right?
Godzilla +/- one
So here’s my theory on Batman Part II
||I think the character that ScarJo is gonna be playing is Gilda Dent, Harvey’s partner/GF/wife whatever, but she’s also gonna be Phantasm (if any of you have seen Mask of the Phantasm you know what I’m talking about, if you have not, drop everything you’re doing and go watch it now), I think ScarJo’s Gilda is gonna be an old flame/GF of Bruce’s and suddenly she resurfaces in Gotham with Harvey, big twist of the movie is that she’s the villain||
Maybe they’ll have the Condiment King in a cold open sequence, and then it’s just another Joker movie
Anything but another joker movie
Bring back Eggman from the tv show. Make an Eggman movie before another joker movie
We already know it's not that
Since they said the villain was gonna be lesser known
Which is surprising since Joker was teased at the end of the first movie
I guess the main villains who have been done in a major live action movie are Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two Face, Freeze, Scarecrow, Ra’s, Bane, Ivy, I’m sure I’m missing some but not immediately coming to mind
I was gonna say Sinister Six led by Joker but then I remembered that was a Spider-Man group
Joker will probably be in it but not necessarily the focus, I’d assume?
Joker commands focus
If he's in this movie it's gonna be another post credits stinger
He can't be a side villain
If Joker is in a movie then he is the main course
Mad Hatter would be a fun lesser known villain but who bloody knows
The Bat has so many lesser known villains
my pick for a lesser known villain who has a good chance at showing up in a Reeves movie is Professor Pyg
Let’s do a killer moth movie
oh that's a good one
classic mutilation serial killer
he has to be saved for the next batgirl movie
I've been wishing for a more realistic take on Mr. Freeze. I also think Hush would be perfect for these new Reeve Batman movies.
Hush just isn't a good story (imo)
Batman 2022 ||There are some hints that Hush was already in the movie, hidden in the background.||
the comic's fame is 90% due to the art imo
Batman 2022 ||There's someone with a username going by "Hush" or something like it on the Riddler's forums. Plus the name of the reporter Falcone killed is the same as that character's father, right?||
They better not do Court of the Owls
"Everyone thinks it's Hush, but me, an intellectual, sees the truth. It's obviously a Joe Chill movie."
That would functionally be a repeat of movie 1
Because the first movie was basically already that?
Yeah
Also I just hate them
Havent seen it, watched the trailer and its definitely on the list now
It’s a good one
Yeah the animated movies usually aren’t terribly long… usually
I remember watching TDKR a few months back
Batman version of a Sinister Six would go hard though
I also have a pitch for an episode of the Jimmy Olsen tv show
I love when modern comics reference idiot silver age plotlines. They should adapt this comic
Here’s the original story btw
actual romance movie just dropped yall this is not a drill
god i really hope they dont go with that joker
that joker didnt seem nearly goofy and funny enough from what we saw
the messed up alex's casting he is too handsome
unironically though a r eally goofy and funny joker would work amazingly in the reeves verse
but i hope they go with someone other than joker tbh
The Batman 2 doesn't have joker tho
like as main antag
Reeves confirmed it's gonna be a villaiin which hasn't been in adaptation right?
or am I remembering wrong
okayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy s2 of the pitt already gripping me, i'm so !!!!!!!! at them ending the episode there
i suppose i am hooked!
who hasnt really been done specifically
and unlike s1 i'm not starting with a huge backlog of episodes to binge at once :(
I am gonna wait for it to end and watch it the way it is recorded
binging an entire ER session
haha

which means i think the Batman and robin villains are open
how is there a season 2 is the emergency still happening
i was considering doing this but i just couldn't wait
just a different er shift
the july 4th weekend day shift, some months after the first season shift
Like I said, they won't
Cuz they said the villain was gonna be someone not focused on in a movie before, and the Joker can't be a side character in a story, he has to be the main baddie or a cameo
i meant in batman III or whenever
I disagree
joker can absolutely be a side character
I have yet to watch the Pitt season 1
But I’m pretty sure I’ve heard it’s one of the better representations of what it’s like working at the hospitals
To the extent that I believe my gf told me some of the people at the hospital just can’t watch the show because it just feels like being right back at work
Happy birthday to me :3
I watched Dr Mike reacting to it after finishing watching the season and he also considered it very accurate

WHY A SEQUEL
-# I know I am gonna be the biggest fan if it nails the sequel
but it didn't need onoe
Oh my god shes a pedophile
incredible work DC
just
incredible
The Legend of the Blue Sea is such a good k-drama!
Truly amazing work from Detective Comics
Round of applause
bravo rucker
Chill on Greg Rucka, he made peak Wonder Woman
He’s just kind of washed now
And that’s ok
eh i have his problems with his wonder woman
Hey its an al ghul were lucky its just a transphobia stereotype and not a racist one too
I think whenever a new writer writes for the Al Ghuls they flip a coin to decide if they should be written normally or should be a racist stereotype
I suspect this wasn’t Rucka’s intention
The series this was from is actually pretty solid
she is but also for comic writers being wierd about women reasons not trans reasons (i think)
Are you...talking about the Klarion thing?
I assume so, there isn’t anything else
Not sure what Rucka’s intent was but he’s normally not a weirdo as far as I know
Still, someone should have realized that it doesn’t look great especially for a trans character
It definitely wasnt, Rucka isnt in that crowd
TMA + TMP all ||So I saw an interesting theory that TMP we are serving the web and eith all the electronic devices kinda makes sense which really makes me wonder what's the spiders end goal seeing as she wanted to spread and spread a larger web||
Watching avatar 3 with my freshly working ears.
But I forgot how thumpy the IMAX speakers are, and that it takes a little while to get used to having ears again
Bwoom bwoom bwoom

-# don't worry, it's still the trailers, I'm not messaging during the actual movie
2 hours left huh
Im confused how having the character turn down Klarion makes her a pedophile?
I think it’s the “look me up in a few years” comment that’s rubbing people the wrong way
Imo it’s not great but also not a big deal
Calling her a pedophile over it is such an extreme jump and mischaracterization
Also the character is like 19 or 20 and Klarion is 17
Ive seen worse iterations of that line tbf
Girl Meets World ||Maya is 14 and Rileys cousin (a freshman in COLLEGE) tells her that he'll wait for her to get older before they date and it was presented as romantic. To a show targeted towards little girls. 😭||
Well that’s comic book discourse for you
Get ready for a whole bunch of people that don’t read comics to see that panel on Twitter and freak out
ehhh its also stilll insanely weird and gross
I dont find it that weird or gross, and even if I did that still wouldnt make her a damn pedophile
i need people to be bloody serious for once like come on
its just really unnesecary too its very bayverse tranformers 4
I mean the character from what i've seen is a very thinly written walking stereotype, I think there's more fundamental issues underlying her
i mean from what y'all are saying it is like. not that?
Like i hate the character but i dont think you need to call her that to complain that they did a terrible job
Im desperate for people criticize things for the actual issues they have instead of manufacturing and exaggerating targets into existence.
its still weird because like, why include it? Klarion is like a thousand years old isnt he so like why include it its so weird
Not mainline Klarion
Mainline Klarion is (until they change things) a teenager from Limbo Town, the descendants of the colonists of Roanoke after they got lost in another dimension and became witches.
oh god lmao thats ugh
didnt even retcon it to be less racist when they did retcon it lmao
how...is Klarion racist??
most of the american mythologizing of roanoke has roots in racism
I don’t know how to read
misunderstood a thing about Limbo Town, it's not in another dimension, it's just literallly underground
When Klario was first introduced into comics he was from another dimension, got those confused
See Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the US (at Roanoke) and how her shift life was mythologized ever since
Comic books have pictures in it too
Cmon, lock in
I don't really have a stake in this but "theories around Roanoke often involve racism" doesn't mean "fiction involving an entirely fantastical answer to the mystery is also racist"
Except the mystery around it is because of racism
Unless there is actually racism on how this happened like some kind of Native American magic BS but that doesn't sound like what happened from Mori's reaction
I mean partly? But also like, its one of the first European colonies in America and everyone just disappeared with no trace. That's a very intriguing mystery by itself
They didn’t disappear without a trace, they carved the name of a local tribe into a tree. A few generations later, members of that tribe had blue eyes
There is a trace though the evidence points towards them integrating with the local natives in the area
Like, the simple answer is they just moved to Croatoan Island, but no one was able to investigate to find out, so that's why it's a mystery
Oh right I forgot about that
Also the English later asked Powhatan what happened to them, and he said that he had them killed, but that was likely a lie
But it does prove that even 30 years later, they were still being looked for
i meant more that its kinda racist in the unquestioned racist assumptions way than the actual racist and purposefully racist way
Sure but like....was there a reason to bring this up?
It sounds like you just wanted to complain and so pivoted to a new complaint after the first was refuted
Mystery solved
Is it also an issue where calling everything racist becomes a bad way to discuss media critically and logically
And again the original thing is stupid and I honestly thought that was a parody and not an actual thing DC printed but we should complain about the actual reasons it's dumb and not make up more just because
What is the original thing here and what are the issues with it
DC made a new trans hero who is like every trans woman stereotype
Ahh okay yes that is a bit too much of a caricature of a trans woman
I then mentioned the character Klarion, from DC comics, is in mainline continuity a descendent of colonists from Roanoke after they went somewhere else and became witches. And apparently doing anything involving the mystery of Roanoke has "unquestioned racist assumptions"

And then stuff about her potentially being in a relationship with that character thus why he came up
its just that one soyjack its so baffling
Ty for catching me up
Soyjack?
I guess I don't know if this character owns a Blahaj, eats pickles, and plays New Vegas but you get the idea
She also needs to be a furry and a super hacker
...she might be a hacker i don't actually know
ah no, she's just strong and tough
same exact clothing as a specific transphobic soyjack
I dont know what soyjack means
Well to be a furry she'd have to be a programmer with considerable disposable income
There is something deeply funny about the granddaughter of Ra's al Ghul being a walking trans stereotype whose only powers are being kinda tough and strong.
These meme faces
WAIT I MISSED THAT PART
Why would they connect her to that guy?
Yeah she's Nyssa's daughter
I only know Talia from the Batman animated show so that doesn't help me, but still that's hilarious
gotta contain all the weird stereotypes to the al ghuls
...huh
Seems they've just...casually retconned Nyssa's infertility
I wasn't aware that was a thing till now. Hilariously inconsequential.
Comic book writes also do not read comic books
...That uh. Reading up on Nyssa more and that sure was an early 2000s origin story they gave her, oof
I think the only people who regularly do are children and comic book shopkeepers
im honestly now very suspicious it's going to be revealed that Alya isn't Nyssa's daughter cause that sounds like the kind of pointless twist they'd do
cant wait till it is revealed she is a cis woman in the body of a trans one or something like that😌
(i am underplaying how tough and strong she is btw. she might be stronger than Solomon Grundy)
Avatar 3 ||So Varang ran away, and we never saw Quaritch's body, right?||
I like the idea of a smaller person with absurd superstrength being named Featherweight, that's clever
Everything else about her is...sure
||Also, I can't believe they had the air nation be nomad (traders)||
Read an article that pointed out Ra's now has enough grandkids you could probably form a team out of them and honestly that could be fun and funny
Yes that was my reaction I literally too loudly said || that asshole survived again ???????, when he jumped off ||
This is why I’m glad I just am able to turn my brain off during movies and TV. It’s more fun that way. My gf and I watched the avatar movies and saw the third in theaters and we had a fun enough time with it.
Like I think I just enjoyed seeing a fantasy/alien world on screen that was pretty to look at basically. Story has plenty of faults of course but meh, that’s fine I guess.
I feel like TV and movies thrive on characters making dumb choices and doing dumb things. It feels like it’s so rare you see characters in TV shows or movies making good choices
But I will admit I watch less and less TV and movies these days and just read more books instead
My statement was more on the noooo they got away with it again !!! Kinda thing less actually annoyed
I love the avatar movies for the spectacle of it
Yeah I do wish I had seen it in imax and 3D. I imagine it would have been a cool experience at least
Considered going and seeing it that way but I don’t really feel like spending another 3 and a half hours on it when I could be doing other stuff lol
I saw the second avatar in 3D and just was meh on the whole thing, I just don't think 3D is for me
I felt like I enjoyed the movie less for it, just because I don't think it really works for me? Like it does, a little, but it makes things more blurry than cool, and I don't think my eyesight is bad
Yeah my gf and sister can’t do 3D. I haven’t seen a 3D movie since the original avatar back in what, 2009?
Huh I thought that they did stuff with avatar 2 to fix that
having to put 3D glasses over my normal glasses killed the 3D movie experience for me
Like, my choices are either spend the whole movie with my nose itching and my ears aching from the second set of glasses I have to wear, or forego the corrective glasses and have a blurry 3D visuals
well, not everyone necessarily has the same problems with it, they might improve it for one set of people without improving it for everyone
I'd expect nothing less than for the technology to improve, part of the reason I gave Avatar 2's 3D a chance was that I heard great things about it in the first movie but skipped the 3D back then
every now and then, the industry makes an effort at making it mainstream, I remember my 2014-ish TV had some 3D stuff built in
I'm sure they'll try again one day
Maybe. Though it feels like other than avatar it’s finally well and truly dead
yall see that a dog won some award shows award for best horror actor
one of the less relevant ones but its still funny
My hot take is that it shouldve been the trainers that won and not the dog itself
Reddit pilled
Not modern reddit though but like 2018 reddit
how many points should i deduct from a film for a taylor swift soundtrack
Up by 20
@rugged hound this movie has the same problem you talked about with the book where there really is no reason for them not to get together
Depends, does it add or distract.
Empire Strikes Back
Game of Thrones
people we meet on vacation
Oh yeah. You need some tension!!!
But why arent they together
Well they were dating other people in the book
But like
Come on
Also there was a long distance thing
I don’t think the Al ghul family drama is compelling in general (||never forget Talia sleeping with her baby daddy’s recently lobotomized son)|| but the design for featherweight genuinely looks like it was made by a transphobic person 😭
“We will be PERFECT in every aspect of writing DCU Wonder Woman, you write the Zeus origin you run a mile, you pair her up with Superman you run a mile, you let Tom King near that script?? And I will break my foot off in your John Brown hindparts and then you will run a mile. PERFECTION”
man this year is gonna be so ass for movies
project hail mary is prob gonan be good though
??
we got new dune
brand new day
project hail mary
28 years later 2 seems good
supergirl
historicality aside the odyssey will likely be impressive at the very least
I'm so excited for dune and supergirl
epic the musical was great and it's not that proper historically either
I think the difference right now is that it's more obvious what epic gets out of being less historically accurate
anne hathaway as penelope is all i need tbh
yeah hence I think the doomposting for odyssey is also just nolan hate
EPIC trades historical (and at times mythological) accuracy for some of the vibes, scenes, character exploration, etc. Whereas right now we don't now enough about the Nolodyssey to know what/if they gain anything from it
I agree
so like I don't think why we are skeptic of it when it's a tried and tested film director and it's a gambit which has been successful for Eipc
Disclosure day also looks like an interesting movie coming out later this year
I feel like you can sorta point at the "original"/changed bits of EPIC and see what their function is, stylistically or narratively, but we don't really have anything beyond a few shots of the Odyssey so it's hard to do that right now
i also want to see the bride. and idk if it'll be any good but primate looks amusing as well
At the moment I'm hesitantly interested in the Nolan odyssey. A lot of what we've seen hasn't quite hit some of the vibes I'd want from an odyssey movie, but I'm willing to change my mind if I see it
I'm not going into that expecting The Odyssey at all
Who?
Something more akin to like Oh Brother, Where Art Thou in that it is Odyssey inspired but also A Nolan Film (TM)
Courtney Eaton
who
what did she act in
It’s gonna be a musical!!!!
Some indie film called Parachute
Courtney Eaton for Wonder Woman is not a hot take
I know
The media bots that mostly kind of just make stuff up about casting decisions have been pushing her for months
I should play DCU Wonder Woman
I'll support you
Lowkey, if Amanda from Smosh could act she could play Wonder Woman
But I don’t know if she can
i dont like hollands spiderman, and project hail mary looks good
new dune im not expecting the best
and im nolans #1 hater so im not excited to odyssety
i dont think dune messiah is a very good book tbh
I think the PHM comment is the first comment I’ve personally seen where you’ve spoken positively about any piece of media 😂 (I’m sure there are others of course, I’m not reading every comment on this platform)
I cant wait to read it next month
Just in time for the movie!
Ive avoided all the trailers, news, plot, everything
I should rewatch OBWAT
I listen to the soundtrack all the time
It do be fun
It is my most anticipated movie for this year.
PHM?
I’m curious about it and will absolutely go see it if it’s any good, but I don’t really get excited about adaptations generally
I would get hyped about an adaptation of the last 3 expanse books though
the nice thing about The Expanse is that there doesn't have to be a hurry to do it
I think that, just from a business perspective, they would want to write it in a way that people who didn't watch the first series or read the books could still plausibly enjoy it
but I think that's doable
GOAT book
It's just an instinctive response from you huh
pavlov
Game of Atrocious Thrones
Dune: hype
PHM: hype
Godzilla 0: hype
Given that I basically didn't go to the theaters near at all last year I'm excited to have some movies I genuinely do want to see in theaters
Do the thrones keep falling apart or are they just really uncomfortable?
just really uncomfy
It's worth the watch
Once you've watched Lord of the Rings, no movie is too long
SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACKKKKKK
So about this.... 😂
it's the same reason every movie is the spiderman origin story all over again
If I have to see uncle Ben die again I’m killing the old man myself
The comment reminds me of Patrick H Willems's video about how modern Batman movies are afraid of adding Robin
Still one of my favourite essays of his

Only a 20 minute video
But it’s so good
It doesn’t argue AGAINST realistic Batman but it argues that Batman as a character needs to branch out more in adaptations
This is the one I'm thinking about - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yabUYM5uN0
Sign up here for a full year of CuriosityStream and Nebula https://curiositystream.com/patrickhwillems/index.html
Watch this video ad-free on Nebula https://nebula.app/videos/patrickhwillems-why-are-batman-movies-afraid-of-robin
We’ve had a lot of Batman movies in the past 20 years, and they’ve all avoided putting Robin onscreen. Maybe it...
that is brought up in the video, yes
I also think such a dynamic is hard to establish in a movie
Batman movies tend to be overstuffed as is
The thing is
And yet the LEGO Batman movie managed it just fine
Robin is such an integral part of Batman’s history and character
They sure can, Lego Batman, they sure can...
Film: The LEGO Batman Movie
Produced by Warner Animation Studios
I did not enjoy that film
Batman had only 11 comic issues where he was solo until Robin got introduced, I’d argue that Robin is as integral to Batman lore as Batman is himself
Boo hiss tomatoes
I think in the LEGO movie (and even in cartoons) its a lot easier to elide "why are you bringing a non-adult with you to punch bad guys at night" than it would be in live action
LEGO movie can just do it, live action it would demand explanation
The suspension of disbelief is different
Joseph Gordon levitt Robin movie right?
You would also need to write in an arc for robin in a live action
Presumably the two would dovetail together at least in a first film
Almost ideally the whole film would be about Robin and why Batman thinks it makes sense to take on a Robin
Which like
That sounds like a good movie and I would watch it
But Robin hasn't exactly hit well in live action in the various incarnations and I think it'd be a hard sell to WB to say "I wanna deliberately and pointedly make a movie about what is historically one of the weaker parts of the live action franchise"
I mean
To be fair
They really haven’t given Robin another chance since the Schumacher movies
easy way to sell it, make it Dad of Boy but Batman
That'd be a fantastic movie but also you'd have to skip straight to Damien and I'm not sure that's a great idea
That or it’s a custom timeline where we just don’t have Nightwing
If you wanted to do a Dick Grayson movie, I think it'd go down more Witcher (books) / The Last of Us style where Bruce saves him from the circus almost incidentally at the beginning of some other operation and has to keep an eye on him but doesn't want him interfering with The Real Reason He's Here and Dick just keeps following along and making himself useful
Welp, you know the drill:
✨ OOooOOoo, Cosmic, I'm- ✨
Eh, you know the rest
wait godzilla minus one two is 2026?
oh thats hype
Yes it was announced recently for the fall
the new tom cruise movie looks like it'll be fun
godzilla minus one is great if you pretend that it takes place after a fictional war and not WW2
has anything been released about it other than the castlist?
I don't think so, just that and the little teaser clip
Uh, why does it matter
Sure the Japanese government did some terrible things during WW2, but Godzilla minus one doesn't care about the government at all
It's all about the civilians, and ignoring their suffering is... Not right
pretty hard to sympathize with an ex WW2 japanese soldier
Why?
He's just a kid
Most of the soldiers WERE just kids
Just because an individual was on the opposite side of the war doesn't mean they weren't human
That's the whole damn point
Bros entire character arc is built on his not fulfilling societies expectations of him
Sure? But like its still really hard to sympathize with him
I feel like that says more about your point of view than the movies point of view
Because I had no problem sympathizing with him. It's not like he really wanted to be there
Sure but like you probably wouldnt sympathize with a SS agent its just hard because theres a lot of baggage there
Kris, quite frankly, I don't think these two are equivalent at all.
I uh don’t think they’re that far off
they are though????
Do you know what imperial japan did to china???
Obviously I am aware of what Imperial Japan did to China
But I feel like there is a difference between a conscript and a volunteer, and one of them will have much easier time gaining my sympathy than the other.
Not only that
But he's fairly clearly just a normal kid drafted at the very end of the war
He isn't some hardened killer, nor some die hard patriot
If he were he wouldn't have the character arc he does
He wasn't involved in what happened in China whatsoever
I doubt he even shot a single american
Saying every Japanese soldier is equally responsible for what happened is stupid
And ignores literally all nuance and complexity in the situation
I assume an SS agent had a far higher level of opt in than some random grunt
Being given a rifle and then told to dig a foxhole and try not to eat artillery for breakfast is one of the most harrowing experiences a human can have sort of regardless of country of origin, and it happened on every side of that war
Historically most soldiers do not enlist for ideological reasons as far as I am aware
Any conscript in that experience is worthy of some amount of empathy
More economic than anything
Economic is the mercenary reason
There's also "run at them and shoot them and they might shoot you but stay here and I definitely will" sort of conscript and there's been a lot of those over the centuries
By the late stages of WWII it was basically by force
Particularly in Japan in WW2, there was a lot of that
But also military history rapidly gets very weird because prior to like the 1300s-ish people were literally just making up numbers for army sizes
So its hard to get numbers that would be useful for that kind of conversation
“Yeah we fought like, i dont know, a million people it was crazy”
there is still generally knowledge of if the military was made up of professional soldiers or conscripts
- Herodotus
Caesar
but yeah in this case I don't think that it makes any sense to conflate a child conscript to a (presumably volunteer) member of the political wing of the military
Even so, you have issues of like, where is the loyalty, anyway?
that's a question for armies where we have precise numbers
as in even today it's an open question that you can't quantify
EG Julius Caesar's soldiers were loyal to Caesar and not to Rome itself, and no real polling exists to say if they were loyal to him because of his money or because they liked him or because they believed what he believed
I don't think polling would have actually answered the question but also this is pretty removed from the movie discussion now
I also think that as a globe we are lacking in a few key qualities right now and mabey we should have more empathy and more nuaunce in all kinds of discussions
Here's a movie premise for you: a time traveller going to like 50 BC to poll Roman soldiers under Caesar's command and see who they're loyal to
Shenanigans occur as this purely academic research gets misinterpreted as the time traveller being an agent for one of the Roman senators that oppose Caesar
Shakespeare's Julius Caesar Meets Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court
I even had someone yesterday tell me that "i would argue empathy is the death of true justice" which is so wild
That... Conflicts with my fundamental beliefs
I mean yeah?
No
One can have empathy and still have justice
In fact I'd argue a lack of empathy will more often than not get in the way of justice
In terms of pure legal justice theres a few people whove gotten out of jail that shouldnt have because of empathy
A few
On the topic of godzilla minus one. I think they specifically designed the character to make us able to empathize with them
It felt like we were ment to be able to empathize with them and connect with their struggles
Not only that, but I think they did a good job depicting how the populace suffered, which of course is what Godzilla has always been tied to (when he's in his more serious incarnations)
Which is why I am deeply curious as to how they handle a sequel
I saw it recommended here so I’m watching Mask of the Phantasm.
YES
Yess!!!!
It’s a short movie too so not that much of a commitment
This line by Alfred is great ||”You are the very model of sanity. By the way I washed your tights and put away your exploding gas balls”||
I haven't watched it in probably 15 years but I do remember enjoying it
I’m now imagining him doing the mail song and we need this

lol
This is supposed to be the last of this set of teasers
i wonder if they gonna be live until december
they're really advertising this thing for 12 months, lotta eggs in that basket
i heard a rumor, it says that this movie will cost 1 billion of dollars
If this movie bombs they’re not gonna be able to keep making big superhero crossover movies
This and all, Hollywood will never want to make crossover movies again, at least not for 20 years
Given that a movie usually has to make double its stated budget to actually profit, they'd have to be in like... top 7 best-earning movies of all time
Infinity War and Endgame managed to cross that 2 billion dollars box office barrier, but I somehow can't see Doomsday doing the same
I don't think it's realistic that rumor, but adding in the advertising costs (which are high at first glance), they should reach 3 billion, the highest-grossing film
yeah, I can't see them reaching that
they are going all in on the fanservice
Endgame cost $356 million, I think this movie will easily reach $500 million
Honestly, I do like the concept still. It's just the execution lately has been going downhill greatly
I think the last Marvel anything I've watched was Wakanda forever 🤔 I've completely lost track of whatever the story is supposed to be now
I think Marvel knows that, because they've said that Doomsday is more of a sequel to Endgame
So they're going to ignore almost everything that happened afterward, only taking into account the good things
i think the only thing i watched after love and thunder was GOTG3 and thunderbolts
im still currious how there gonna integrate the foXmen
So far I have several doubts about their timelines, especially after Logan
But that was more of a FOX thing
I don't think Marvel will care at all about any fox xmen timeline
they will pick and choose what they want to incorporate into the mcu
im assuming its just gonna be multiverse shenigans
