It’s cuz it had novelty going for it
s4 had some good ieas and enjoyale moments in the first half
It was something new and somehow nostalgic to watch
itsa lso just kind of written way better tbh
The 80s nostalgia was fun in season 1, but they really overdid it in the future seasons
Stranger Things is just the definition of a show that just got too big for its britches
They expanded the cast beyond the OG group and that was really where it started
Word, seeing 10 ppl sat around Will was just comical to see
Max and Robin were ABSOLUTELY fine to add, but then you add a bunch of nothingburger characters like Murray and Erica, and then characters like Bob and Eddie
There’s genuinely for the cast to be that big
Season 1 was amazing as a small town mystery following a struggling mother just trying to find her son and a group of kids that just wanted to bring their friend back
I mean you've got the ST ||seasonal beloved new/developed character to kill off||
But then it just transformed into something that it just… wasn’t meant to be in the first place
||plus for some reason a cast expansion each season||
Tbh current stranger things feels less like... not something ST should be and more almost like someone's pitch or prediction for where ST could go?
ST all ||I mentally checked out when Hopper survived and ended up in a Russian prison||
Because I do think you can see the seeds they've grown these plots from in s1. But I think maybe this wasn't the right amount or direction to grow them. If that makes sense
ST all ||They are just WAY too scared to kill off any main characters and it absolutely shows||
ST all ||like, there is an evil government group in s1. But is the best escalation of that to have the main cast actively fighting the military?||
||Did they write off the mind flayer||
||it was retconned to be made by vecna in s4 and then hasn't been in s5 at all afaik||
I am finding s5 better than s4
s4 just did every annoying thing this show could have done for me
I like S5 quite a bit
I have no real criticisms
But I also don't take ST too seriously
ST is campy as hell and it should be viewed that way
S4 was amazing, S4 is my favorite season
I didn't like any ep at all in s4
So I was talking to my coworker about superheroes the other day and we got to the topic of Superman, and he said to me “You know I don’t understand why Superman is dating Lois Lane when Wonder Woman is a way better fit for him to date”
Needless to say
I stared at him like he had 4 heads
i mean max was alright
but everyone else sucked
Robin was great too honestly
ST season 3 ||That scene with her and Steve in the bathroom where she comes out to him was a well written and acted scene, honestly made me tear up a bit||
Tbh I don't mind most of the expanded cast
My main issue is that they also take up screen time, and often it comes at the expense of the main crew
Especially in s5
only scene in s3 i even liked tbh
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Ok now I really need to watch it
It's a very early scene, but the rest of the movie is also worth watching!
Rian Johnson rickrolled the entire audience, damn
how does korean shows appear on netflix? I'm very curious
Anyways I'm watching season 2 and it's very enjoyable
Licensing
no no
I mean, how does it appear for people in other countries
Is there a separate section for them?
Yes
It’s wild like the river, I t’s warm like the sun.
Yeah, it’s here, this is where I belong
I don’t know if this is the Doomsday teaser we were expecting?

I say that because of the leaked teaser, I figured an official version of that would have been next
I hate the fact that they are bringing back Captain America and RDJ!
Ok
damn i love this thor
I haven't seen him serious for a long time.
In the end they changed it to the X-Men
Ooh, now this is a good trailer. I can get behind this one.
I agree the Captain America trailer was pretty cremmy.
Based on the two trailers I have seen, I can only assume that Doomsday is when your kids leave home.
Good trailer
Next is ||X Men|| I believe
There's a theory that Doom will go after the children; after all, in Love and Thunder, ||that girl is the reincarnation of Eternity||
looking at this channel and realising how far out of the marvel loop I've fallen in the past few years of uninspiring content spam
I think most people have fallen out
the box office numbers sort of prove it
people might check out a particularly interesting movie but nobody watches 'everything Marvel' anymore
yeah
didn't help that they kept going wider and wider, throwing out ever more stuff while trying to force engagement/retention by continuing the whole "ahha you need to watch everything to understand the ever growing web of crossovers and linkages" which for me at least hyperaccelerated fatigue
and once I accepted that I wasn't gonna watch it all it was so easy to drop most of it
the fomo magic was broken
pretty much, content overload might have made them more money if the content was good, but it's really hard to make that much content, have it be great, without creating conflicts with other media or other franchise priorities
they wound up just making a ton of really expensive content that doesn't really do anything
To be somewhat fair to Marvel, they had their fair share of unforced errors but also a string of just really bad luck
Among other things:
- Covid hit at the worst possible time for them
- Chadwick Boseman dying really cut down their options, he was potentially very loadbearing and I think Marvel looks quite different if he had lived
- Jonathan Majors was also pretty loadbearing and turned out to be maximum scumbag
Yeah Chadwick left a massive hole post endgame
Spiderman too bc of his reworked role
- is on the edge of forced and unforced error, and that's the Sony/Spider-man nonsense, Sony saw an opportunity and while it didn't net them much it certainly kept Marvel from making Spider-man more central
And then Thor 4 was kinda a miss meaning that all of a sudden they didn’t really have any stars left
Some people think it was better to re-casting him, but that's a debate I don't really want to get into because I don't have an answer myself lol
I will give Marvel the (dis)credit for a movie they had total control over being bad
Oh yeah it’s their fault for that one
But in the end what killed marvel for me was the dr strange 2 + Wandavision || the fact that the show and movie completely didn’t talk to each other meaning her character was radically different and it’s just like how do you screw that up ||
I'm mostly just making the case that much of why Marvel is where they are is chalked up to stuff they simply had no control over, though notably most of that is old news now and they still haven't managed to recover
I just think they would’ve been better off making the new black panther any of the other characters from the first movie lol
Me too, actually
I'm not sure they could have known that until it was far too late to do anything about that
Yeah but it’s just like… they chose the least charismatic and the worst actor of the 5 people it could’ve been
That's true but I think in a vacuum going for the person who has the best narrative impact isn't the worst play, and who'd have guessed Leticia Wright was gonna become a covid diva?
Yeah……..
(Most of the other actors involved were probably also eyeing other work, I can't imagine hardly any of them wanted to be full time Marvel movie makers)
Yeah I mean I would’ve written a blank cheque for lupita or Winston duke
Danai Gurira, for example, still had (and I think still has?) one foot in the door at The Walking Dead
She would’ve been so good
Sometimes it isn't about the money, and both of those actors strike me as people who are doing Marvel as a gig to pay for more artsy projects
Also like marvel hypothetically getting untethered by the walking dead having a firmer contract is DC having to edit Superman’s mustache levels of funny though
I mean more like
I hate that one so much, they really just should have just given superman a full beard
I think that show is kind of home for her
If AMC gives her more zombies to chop with a katana and enough money to maintain her lifestyle on Marvel and their money probably be damned
How about… marvel getting untethered because late stage walking dead is a better vibe than a marvel movie is (I don’t have a comp) but it’s still funny
As it turns out when Tom Cruise and Kevin Feige go to war, Tom Cruise wins
Look that man is convinced he cannot die or age. I wouldn’t want to fight him
I'm not sure I'd have guessed that in the moment but it makes sense in the aftermath
I never got around to seeing that one. Might one day...
And the last 2 mission impossibles were awful
I didn't hate them
Like I’d rather watch mission impossible 2 than 7 or 8
Tom Cruise doing Tom Cruise things
The submarine sequence in the last one was actually excellent
Yeah but it was everything around it that was awful
I mean that just speaks to enjoying the John Woo vibes
I thought they were ok but mostly extended excuses for the idk what to call them... tentpole scenes?
the big cool sequences
That is the whole franchise
Surrounded by them waxing poetic about how great Tom cruise is
he's a very special boi
My only real complaint is that they tried to ex post facto make the whole series more of a linear narrative than it was ever meant to be
We call this the Spectre
MCU baby
also that whole sequence of like... let's spend the first 30 minutes of an already long movie recapping the entire franchise
It’s all connected man
-# stoner voice
Idk why but my brain just went to Charlie day in pacific rim and it’s always funny to see him in other roles
More than Tom Cruise I'm kind of interested to see where Chris McQuarrie goes next
He's been doing pretty much only MI movies for like a decade now
And he's a decent to good moviemaker in a genre of like high-B low-A grade action flick that just doesn't exist in a big way outside of comic books and like John Wick
I forgot how much stuff he did before mission impossible
Or rather outside mission impossible
Cruise's next movie is a character film
Like I don’t associate him with edge of tomorrow but he was a co-writer
Digger is an upcoming American black comedy film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu who co-wrote the script with Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., and Nicolás Giacobone. The film stars an ensemble cast including Tom Cruise, Jesse Plemons, Sandra Hüller, Riz Ahmed, Sophie Wilde, Emma D'Arcy, Robert John Burke, Burn Gorman, Michael Stuhlb...
Huh
the director of The Revenant (bear movie with Leo) and a stacked cast
I'd just been wondering where Inarritu had gone before I saw the ad for this a week or two ago
and Cruise has comedy chops
Don't forget Birdman
Yeah he kinda disappeared for a bit
Probably the more relevant film for this movie
he has been making movies, just not english language ones
oh, apparently just the one movie since Revenant
So thinking about Inarritu made me wonder what Cuaron was up to and uh… after making Roma in 2018 he signed with Apple and wrote and directed 1 season of a show that came out in 2024 that I’d never heard of
Yeah they did a bunch of them because it’s New Years. Meera Syal (Verin in WoT) got a Damehood, and in the sports world Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, legendary British Ice Dancers got one too.

(Not posting because it might not be quite server appropriate
)
I watched Fellowship of the Ring for the first time in too long, it might have only been like my fourth time watching the movie or something
probably the first time in a decade
I recognized some memes and iconic lines here and there from the movie over the years, and yet there are a couple I didn't realize were from LOTR
These movies are iconic enough that you see a meme or famous line every couple minutes.
Like the Star Wars prequel trilogy it benefits from the early internet culture just kind of being a smaller place
Everyone was memeing on a lot of the same stuff and eventually just about every line of both trilogies got memed somehow
I'm honestly surprised they haven't tried to just do like a 6-8 season TV adaptation of LOTR or something, maybe that comes after Rings of Power
I didn't mean to assign any particular entity to 'they' in this case, I know someone has the rights to LOTR and the Hobbit and can make it if they want to
I don't know exactly who that is
the Peter Jackson films are owned by WB
Embracer owns the entity that owns the rights to make new films and is licensing it to WB
Don't Amazon have rights only for appendices?
and hence they had very less content to work for RoP
apparently they now own the full TV rights
it's anything in Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and appendices from those books
they specifically don't own the Silmarillion rights I believe
3 more seasons!
ah
but they're not doing an adaptation from the present day LOTR even though that's what their rights are based on
so, like, they can use some exposition or song from LOTR and do something around it
It is my guess that Lord of the Rings is likely to be the place we see the first iteration of two major entertainment conglomerates offering competing adaptations of the same thing more or less at the same time
Prequels being released now would be eviscerated
it's a weird one, like I think people would have been perfectly happy to watch 'LOTR retold closer to the books and super-extended'
Was going through the Wikipedia page and apparently it’s only 20 million per season not produced of the original 5
We’re in college football buyout territory y’all
but they don't want to do the "closer to the book"
Every showrunner or director pats themselves in the back for not knowing about the source material nowadays
then maybe covering the content they are doing is a good choice after all
To be fair, to some extent so did Peter Jackson, and in most cases his additions got cut because of the film runtime constraints
since audiences are less familiar with it
I think the closer to the book thing doesnt matter. Peter Jackson got crapped on for his changes and basically all of them were correct
I think Peter Jackson's changes work for medium changes
and hence worked for audience
I think most of his changes were fine but I don't know about Saruman
When professional authors adapt their own work they change stuff. Fidelity to the text trumping all is a fan opinion exclusively
even tho the initial reception with the fans might not have been that good
they were eviscerated at the time they were released, they became cool whem the kids who grew up watching them started using the internet
what does Prequels mean here
I dont think those second looks are going to happen anymore
EG [LotR movies] ||The reason Aragorn is dueling a troll toward the end of the last movie in the battlefield is because he was initially dueling some kind of apparition of Sauron himself, but then they cut all Sauron's dialogue and it didn't make sense anymore, so they covered the effects they were using with a digital troll||
star wars
I do not foresee that happening with the sequels
I always thought the Prequels were liked ironically, not like actually considered to be good movies by anyone.
I feel like Doakes, I know Wonder Woman is gonna be in Man of Tomorrow, I just can’t prove it
I wish that were so
the problem is that they marketed the sequels to adults as nostalgia bait, rather than making legitimate childrens movies like Lucas did
Prequels: not good
the sequels were also marketed at kids
at least a little, sure, not in the same way though?
it's a movie by Disney...
I think the bigger issues with the sequels was a lack of narrative ambition and backtracking on anything they accidentally made challenging
well I don't think I'm going to be able to articulate the difference so I'll just digress
Idk if marketing is an issue bc they all made a billion dollars
Star wars really peaked with episode 7 trailer
Back to rings of power… I wonder if the Tolkien estate didnt have the rights to Sil
from what I understand the Tolkien estate has the rights, they dont' want to sell them
or at least they weren't for sale to Amazon at the time
I think what Amazon got they got before Christopher Tolkien died
As time as gone on, fan consensus (as much as Star Wars has a consensus) has shifted from reviling the Prequels to considering them good ideas with a lot of poor execution
Which was what opened up the floodgates
I don't think Christopher was satisfied with the movies, and didn't necessarily want to expand it
He was wrong
(About the movies)
I can understand why he'd be disappointed with the movies direction
I sort of get where he would have been coming from even if I liked the movies
like I imagine Tolkien himself would have complicated (perhaps that's putting it diplomatically) feelings on how the movies adapted his work and I have to imagine his son would have that in mind
I aint much excited for Doomsday but that at least is an interesting idea.
If only they had done anything in the last several films to build an investment for me.
There are some changes I'm sad about but its mainly having to cut things like Tom Bombadil and the Scouring, which is fine since the movies are so long already that there isn't time for more
I do wonder about this. Tolkien claimed Lord of the Rings was "unfilmable", and if nothing else PJ proved him flat wrong about that
The third trailer "leaks" singlehandedly made me excited for doomsday. Tho I guess we can't talk about it here?
I tend to think he'd have had a more open mind about it than Christopher Tolkien would have
you mean Doomsday ||X-Men||?
there are documented script criticisms from Tolkien about LotR film adaptations he was sent
ye
Hell if i can find it right now but ||the writer for Black Panther 2 said the original plan before Chadwick's death was it would be a story about him and his son being stuck together while he's dealing with everything||
there are several things in the script that Tolkien really didn't like which seem to be also things Jackon did in the trilogy
obviously the script Tolkien read was worse than what Jackson ended up doing
That's true, but I think (and this is consistent with PJ's adaptation) that what he changed in detail he got right in spirit. The movies obviously do not lean into anything wintry despite that being the correct time of year, but they do manage to effectively convey that time is time, miles are miles, and weather is weather
Looking at the film rights history has lead me down the strangest rabbit hole. Which is the dude that owned the rights for a long time. Saul Zaentz before getting into film production ran Fantasy Records. Which was the label that Credence Clearwater Revival signed with and then famously had a major falling out because Saul lost a bunch of their money and then the band sued and it was a Supreme Court case.
Oh and he also produced 3 best picture winners one in the 70s, 80s, and 90s
Didn't that label steal their money?
I could have sworn they signed their money away and it was run off with intentionally, not lost
BBC said something in its obituary that they sued him and got some money back on the bad investments. But didn’t go into more detail
Fogerty had a song called Zanz kant danz that they retitled after release.
there is 3 trailers for doomsday ?
i think ive only seen the captian america and the thor one ?
there is a leaked one
it looks awful and isn't worth watching IMO but seek it out if you please
(awful from a capture quality standpoint, not necessarily an awful teaser)
This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)

ahh so yeah i saw the thor one in cinema when i watched the fire blue avatar movie
ill wait till theres a good copy of the new one
Probably next Tuesday
tbh i think if rian johnson got the whole trilogy theyd be the best star wars movies
I wonder how the Duel of the Fates version would have been received if that’s the movie that was ultimately made
I have little doubt that it would have been taken better than RoS but I’m wondering more how the sequels as a whole would have been remembered

-# ||sneaking a load of snacks in your coat and pockets, and not paying the absurd prices at the stands these days||
I tend to get some popcorn, nearly finish it by the time the trailers are done, but fine for the rest of the movie without
Yeah, I'll eat popcorn, but I'm not paying theater prices for it
I'm more of a box of candy at the movies kind of person
I got some gummy worms over christmas that I've been saving for when I see the stranger things finale on thursday
That’s if I get anything. Usually I just don’t.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who voted what I voted
Spooky I need an option between I hate popcorn and I just don’t want my hands to be buttery in a place where I have to leave the movie to wash them
I think working at a movie theater ruined popcorn for me, so if/when I find an excuse to visit one again, I'd definitely be on team "smuggle in something else"
Oooo smuggling is good I brought goldfish the last time because I hadn’t eaten anything all day and it was convenient
(Also, context for why the prices are so absurd: At the theater I worked at, at least, there was literally zero profit margin in ticket sales, 100% of that money went to the studios)
Also heat if you smell movie popcorn what happens to you?
Asterisk: we did make a small profit from the convenience fee for online ticket sales, I believe
ST 5x7 or wtver the espiode before the finale is ||that coming out scene was so ass you can tell the writer was straight lmao||
Best opinion you've had all week btw
Goldfish at the movies is unmatched
I was shocked when I found out in some places they put butter on popcorn
It sounds so gross
Me, who drenches my popcorn in butter: 🫣
Is that not a thing where you are? Butter on popcorn is standard at every movie theater I’ve been to
The concept of drenching anything in butter as a sauce makes me feel a little bit queasy I think 😂
Not at all in the UK
...ok the doomsday thor trailer does look good
I will admit
They have kind of pulled me back in with this and the leaked trailer that’s releasing next week
I’m still not optimistic
But my interest is semi-peaked
I just really hope it’s not a Steve Rogers vs Doom movie
ST 5x7 ||also he just outs robin for no reason lmfao||
ST 5x7 ||does he?||
Western countries are right about something, and its butter lmao butter is so good
St5x7 ||Yeah by accident lol||
Civil War 2: Multiverse Boogaloo
Does "Butter-flavored oil" sound better or worse? Because that's what it actually is
buttered popcorn is pretty standard everywhere I've seen popcorn sold, not just at movies
At some indie theaters I've been to they offer nutritional yeast as a seasoning which tastes a little nutty (flavor) but I accept that's maybe because I'm in the Pacific Northwest.
Thats wild
That’s crazy
I do like ye olde classic butter oil though
It guess it's basically like sprinkling multivitamins on the popcorn
Which is almost as weird
(the yeast isn't a default when I've seen it; it's a shaker like parmesan cheese)
Break out the yeast shaker
I mean it does have a distinct flavor
If you like the taste of it then I could seen it working as a popcorn condiment
I went to look up the place I'm thinking of in Boise and a weekly paper notes I'm remembering correctly: "The Flicks, where you can get real butter drizzled on topped with a dusting of golden, nutritional yeast."
How important do you consider popcorn to be in your theater-going experience?

Y’all… I learned that I’ve been spoiled by my nice local theater. Chain theater popcorn is so mid. And $6 for a thing of candy? I passed on the candy due to the price gouging, but when I started eating the popcorn during the preview and got so disappointed I went and bought candy
We were going to hit the local theater for bluevatar 3 but had to hit a chain theater instead because the only showing that wasn’t sold out at the local theater started at 9:55 PM
Have yall noticed previews have been getting longer?
The movie starts like 45 minutes late nowadays
Yeah was like 30 minutes I think tonight
I think my local theater is around that length too
I will admit after seeing the movie I am kinda curious what the experience would be like in 3D since it has been too long for me to recall details from seeing the first in theaters
But 3 and a half hours is a lot of movie
What I want to say probably can’t be said here, so I’ll say it in #you-people
Previews are basically movie trailers and some smaller advertisements (depending on the theater)
One day I’ll figure out how to bring my own popcorn into movies

@turbid narwhal Sadie brothers have a thing for bringing in non-professional actors for specific roles
And they are surprisingly good at getting them to act well
Case in point: Kevin Garnett in Uncut Gems
The guy who plays Dion got the role because Josh Safdie saw him in a video insulting Trae Young after a Knicks loss
And yeah Kevin garnett is great in uncut gems
Yeah I know but oleary is a horrible person
RUMOR | DC Studios is currently auditioning "every hot, young actress in Hollywood" for the new female lead in 'Man of Tomorrow'
The source believes it is Wonder Woman
(@TheRochaSays | https://t.co/WiX9YDEwmH)
We’ll finally have a new Wonder Woman that isn’t Gal Gadot
What if wonder woman needs to be given the stone 😔
or kal el does something bad
clearly we need gal godot again
i still think tthe stone one is a worse delivery
god damn Epic is so good... I got full body chills listening to Odysseus just now
is it..... epic
Dang how many people are in this movie?!
Don’t worry about that
I’m more interested in the idea that they’re interviewing every hot young actress because I’m not sure Hollywood has any other kind of actress
It’s mostly just gonna be a Superman and Lex vs Brainiac, any other characters are just gonna be minor
They haven’t had actresses who are only moderately attractive in a while
That part of the post I linked I hate, like dude “Every hot young actress in Hollywood wants to play Wonder Woman, more at 11!”
I’m sure every actress in Hollywood wants into these movies, it’s a quick step to money (toy deals $$$), fame, success, and more film deals
And to get to play Diana…. Well, who doesn’t want to be Wonder Woman?
Wonder Woman is quite possibly the most mishandled character in comic book history
Especially compared to Batman and Superman
She should’ve gotten a 90s animated series
They were all killed in the purge
Hunger Games competition with every young actress in Hollywood, winner gets to play Wonder Woman
part of this is because tv shows dont have filler anymore
tbh
I think this is a different meaning of “hot”
I once saw a tumblr post years ago talking about this issue on AO3, imploring people to comment on fics cuz it’s the only way for authors to get feedback and gratification from writing.

ST finale ||decent finale imo. Feel like we had pretty good closure for all the characters. I’m glad they didn’t actually kill Eleven, I feel like the message if she’d really killed herself would have been not great. Kali did actually get shot though, did she not? Or was that a trick too? Everyone surviving doesn’t actually bother me that much, I’m not a huge believer in every story requiring main characters to die at the end.||
ST + Arcane ALL ||Eleven’s ending is basically the same as Jinx’s except more clearly spelled out, huh?||

The Sherlock finale was bad
It was so bad Sherlock fans all thought there was secretly a real finale and that the official one was a trick
me trying to remember the Sherlock finale
Oh hey I liked it!
Especially the Sherlock 4x3 ||violin scene at the end||
ST finale ||I mean... It's ambiguous enough... ||
||She might be dead||
There's gonna be a showing of LOTR at my movie theater in two weeks, deciding if I want to go or not.
Yes
Watched all of this more or less through New Years Eve and Day. Can Confirm it is very good
Give it to me straight @wise epoch @placid river
Did they blow it or nah
Are u asking me
2hrs total
Could’ve ended at 1 hr 10
At least twice me and my brother were like “how’s there an hour more left?” And “how’s there 45 mins more left?”
I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan so my review will be lukewarm at best.
My long held opinion was the show shouldn’t have got more than 2 seasons. I wasn’t invested this season at all, it felt like commercialized slop
best show of 2025
He was born to play this role, but the spotlight reveals everything.

It's not ambiguous at all
||Kali is dead||
Nope I think it's good
I don't agree, I think not having that long epilogue would have done a disservice
I don’t think so personally
St finale ||Do we actually know she's dead? Beyond doubt? And not faked it for her and El? Or just passed out? ||
||I'm fairly certain that Mike said she "used the last of her power". Beyond that, though, I think it would be genuinely impossible for her to NOT be dead. First, if she was alive I think they'd show that cuz she would probably be with El. Second, how would she have gotten out? Murray and Hopper obviously didn't know she was still alive, so she would have had to get out herself, and she was already bleeding out. Given that what we see when Mikeis talking is Kali still in the same room she was in before AT the time that Eleven was escaping (because the clips we see when Mike is talking is clearly meant to be true), then she would have had to find a way out of the Upside Down WHILE bleeding out in the literal seconds before the thing got blown sky high. And even if she did manage to do that, they would have to explain how she did not bleed out after she escaped||
||Also Kali clearly accepted death. That's why she said "I was meant to die here, but you aren't" to Eleven. If Kali survived, it would be the most outlandish thing I have ever seen. The only way they could justify her survival is by saying "Oh well, the destruction of the Upside Down didn't work the way the characters thought it would, and it spit her back out in the real world, where she was found by someone who provided medical treatment to her", but I don't even think that works because Kali was IN the building that was set to explode, we see the building explode and we see all the buildings in the Upside Down being decimated, so she would have had to survive all of that while already dying, until the Upside Down collapsed entirely and she was spit out||
With a new actor as Wolverine… right? Right???
After week and a half of trying to arrange a movie night with my parents, we've finally watched Wake Up Dead Man
Good movie!
(WUDM mega spoilers) ||Funnily enough, I was trying to predict who the killer is and my first guess was the doctor, then i thought, nah, Martha has a better motive, and at the end of the day, it was them both
||
Though I will say, I've never seen a movie with such... conspicuous lighting
like it's good and symbolic, don't get me wrong, but the movie does wield it like a blunt object
Till he’s 90
They did just buy Jackman out of his “Wolverine retirement” for a bajillion dollars to play in the Deadpool movie.
They’re going to use him until he looks like he did in Logan without the makeup
In this specific case I'm not sure how much of this is Jackman and how much is Marvel etc
He does like the role
Ok Yeah The Pitt is really awesome
As the HISHE video for Logan put it “To cast another person now/is simply a lost cause”
Jackman is too old to be in a new xmen team imo
-# I know in the comics wolverine is (sometimes) centuries old
I don't actually disagree but imagine being literally any casting director in the world and having Hugh Jackman up in your DMs as soon as it gets out that you're looking for someone for the role
For film logistics reasons I think they should cast someone younger, have Jackman for if they ever want to do an actual Old Man Logan adaptation
I think Jackman would be happy to not get another call, regardless of what he said during the marketing of Deadpool and Wolverine
I think his comments after Logan (i.e. when he wasnt being paid to promote a movie he was going to be in) are closer to his true feelings on it
Maybe. I remember getting the impression at the time that he was really more over the physical aspect of that than he was over the character though too
I understand that's not going away but I also understand that Hugh Jackman of all people has enough leverage to move that in a direction he's more comfortable with if he's motivated enough
And Marvel's so far from above running back an old classic
Given what we saw in D+W, I think the physical aspect is considered a core part of the character
My dad (who doesn’t play video games) is now trying to get me into Fallout
You 🤝 my 65 year old dad
Liking Fallout s1
I’m fairly certain it will be a new actor. Jackman will stick around for the next two Avengers movies and maybe some Deadpool movies but that’s it
iirc we also have the same flannel shirt
tbf think someone would like fallout a lot more if they havent played the games
I forgot about that
That was so funny
Its good!
I'm sat for stranger things in the theater
I was happily surprised it came with a concessions voucher
Imagine if they served Eggo waffles lmao
Lol that would be fun
Gravity Falls and Stranger Things 5 spoilers ||Close enough, welcome back Gravity Falls||
Yet another episode where they pair Sam up with some loser who has a crush on her
She can do better
Also suspicious how the men never get these plotlines. The part of 90s genre tv shows I don’t miss
I love when uncharted asteroids and distant planets look exactly like Southern California
The alternative is them looking like the woods outside Vancouver
they forgot abandoned British Quarries
The only three options depending on where the show filmed
I want to know where the Default TV Setting For Dumb Genre Shows is for other countries
Is there a place where every single cdrama has to film?
that stranger things finale was so bad
I haven’t even watched season 5 volume 2 yet
Stranger things finale was about as expected. Cringe at moments, over the top, mediocre dialogue, but I like the characters and had fun with it. One of my best theater experiences for sure
In line with the rest of the show. I think it's fitting
Unfortunately the letterboxd reviews for the finale are impossible to navigate because for some reason everybody logged it as like, the whole season I guess??
Why is the finale on letterboxd???
Game of Thrones fans seeing Stranger Things fans complain about the finale:
ST finale wasnt even the worst netflix show finale even though it was still p bad
Umbrella Academy 💔 💔
umbrella academy was the one where ||Everyone killed themselves|| right?
Yup
I do feel like Netflix genuinely might see a decline in profit tbh
Now that their flagship show is gone
And they’ve literally spent the last year trying to find the next big show and haven’t been able to
im just curious if there gonna bait 2000s or 90s nostalgia next
yeah lmao if they do 2000s nostalgia thatd feel so weird to me
Netflix is likely about to acquire all of WB’s properties so that should sustain them for a while in terms of content
What were everyone's favorite shows of 2025? My top 3 are Andor S2, Severance S2 and Murderbot
Idk if this counts but I liked Culinary Class Wars season 2
oh and did squid game 3 come out in 2025?
yeah
Didn't like it though
Finally getting around to the beginning of the stride PCW is apparently going through rn with tonight’s movie:
Released this year or watched this year?
If its released this year... I think my list is two items total 😅
...Oh somehow I forgot that stranger things 5 came out this year
No it didn't, that was last year
ok I have totally lost track of time
I think I watched 3 shows that came out in 2025 in 2025
I suppose my top 3 released in 2025 is: 1. Mighty Nein 2. Hazbin S2 3. Stranger Things s5
right now
My top 3 shows I watched in 2025 would probably be: 1. Interview with the vampire 2. Succession 3. Mighty Nein
...wait did wot s3 come out this year? If it did... that's in there somewhere
The Pitt
watch The Pitt
🙏
The Pitt
Probably not my favourite show of the year but one I really enjoyed was the Chair Company
Best show was probably Andor season 2
New epps SOON
I... might get to it eventually
I am SO slow with TV shows 😅
It's just a season rn
good thing about it
The entire season takes place in one ER shift
and it features Noah Wyle!
I might put it on the list
I genuinely get through like... four seasons of tv a year
so dont get your hopes up xD
I have 2.5 seasons of succession to finish first
Yeah I am p slow too
this is probably my best year in a while
5 stranger things seasons, The Pitt, Pluribus
Only two good seasons out of 7 watched
The Pitt s1 and Stranger Things s1
Dangg
I think this year I watched 2 seasons of interview, 1 ST, 1 hazbin, most of a mighty nein, 1 andor, 1 WOT, 1.5 of succession. Better than I expected tbh
When you’re trying to take your kids for a walk but you have to go to the bathroom and neither of them can be trusted not to do anything while you’re gone
while I haven't seen The Pitt yet, this is like one of the few excuses I think are valid for having an 8 episode season, one per shift hour lol
oh lol it's 15 episodes? ok but point still stands I suppose
each ep covers exactly one hour of an ER shift lol
(that's what I was replying to, and I assumed incorrectly about both number of episodes in the season and number of hours in an ER shift)
yeah I figured. Just clarifying
and uhh finished Stranger things
I like the ending??
I don't think any bad thing about the ending is really ending issue but just an overall lack of care or concern to plot elements in the last 2 seasons
cuz the actual ending bits || the conversation between Hopper and Mike, the convo between the 4 "adults", the final DnD game, the DnD game of the new generation of kids, the Hellfire lives.|| They are just super good and well done?
yeah theres ppl doing sherlock secret episode but with ST
my problem with the finale is mainly stuff thats with s5 as a whole and ||el killing herself||
||But she didn't, she lived||
||Eh its clearly meant to be mike coping with her death||
It's not though?
||I think it's pretty clear that she did survive. There would be no point telling us all of that and saying it with such confidence if it was just "no she's actually dead", and it would leave the question of "How the hell did Eleven get out of the truck and to the gate without being seen", because she COULDN'T have gotten over there with the situation as it was UNLESS Kali helped her, at which point it's a more logical conclusion that she snuck away rather than ran to her death||
ST all ||they need to milk more spinoffs, killing her would run counter to that goal||
also ST finale ||why the hell did the abyss have the breaking bad mexico piss filter all over it||
Nowhere more dangerous than Mexico
ST ||I don’t think she’ll be in the spinoffs, my understanding is that they’ll focus on new characters||
Walk with me
We have started watching SPN and it is definitely a product of it's time. (Production, cast(both recurring and one offs), etc)
nononononono

its over
ugh
just barely over two weeks??
only have 14 days form batman p2
At least give them a month
3 weekends
Clearly Netflix and AMC are negotiating. AMC countered with 45 days which isnt gonna happen for smaller films.
What power does AMC have in these negotiations?
Theatrical runs make a lot of money
There's a reason Netflix rushed to get movies like Kpop Demon Hunters into theaters when it was a hit on streaming
Stranger Things finale also apparently did quite well financially for theaters. Netflix isnt getting any box office money from Stranger Things due to the cast contracts so that seems to just be a gift to AMC
Movies basically having the perfect revenue model and streaming taking a sledgehammer to it is crazy
With the asterisk that the theater's take has been precarious for decades and has never been great
Yeah, by "movies" what do you mean exactly
Theater to dvd release to tv networks specifically
im rewatching freemans mind,,,,, i remmeber this being funnier than it is
Streaming didn't take a sledgehammer this intentionally
It just happened to undercut the second and the third and covid allowed it to undercut the first
I’m sure DC movies are gonna stay in theaters way longer than 17 days
The 17 day window is currently used by Universal for their cheap movies
In a deal written with AMC
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/amc-theatres-universal-collapsing-theatrical-window-17-days-unprecedented-pact-1304759/
Yeah none of this intentional at all
The responses are intentional but viewer habits changed a long time ago
Also this wasn't technically for streaming. The thing that opened the floodgate of shortened theatrical releases was for "premium video on demand" which are the movies you pay for to get a digital rental of
The economies of streaming and for pvod are a bit different. A single pvod is like $20 for a 48 hour rental
I agree that it's in Netflixs interest to give tentpole releases more than 3 weekends in theaters
I think the real fight with theaters will be over the smaller releases
Companies certainly took advantage of it though
Starting ST finale
||aaaaand ive forgotten the plan xD||
||do we know why vecna kept will in the UD in s1 instead of the abyss?||
Cuz they weren’t done making that part up lolz
||ok, iirc the plan is to blow up the matter stuff holding the UD together to get the worlds to stop merging. Is there a reason that wont kill everyone?||
||I'm sorry youre gay xD||
||"friends? No thanks, best friends" god.||
||oh what the heck||
||I’m not sure Vecna could bring people to the Abyss before he opened the rifts at the end of S4||
||That makes sense||
||by them not being in the Upside-Down when it blows up lol||
||so its gonna be a delayed explosion?||
I've genuinely just forgotten half of what they said in 5x7, dont mind me xD
||if they haven’t explained already they will soon||
Don’t remember when specifically the explained the details of the plan
It’s hard to remember all their plans when they have a planning session every 15 mins
||I think I remember something about it not going off immediately. Was it linked to a record? Or was that just a metaphor||
||yeah the detonator is on a record so it’ll connect when the record finishes||
STs5 finale ||and what's el and kali's role? Are they just going to be attacking vecna?||
Fun fact kali literally translates to “black” in Hindi
||they’re entering his mind to fight him there and free the kids||
Instagram (social media in general tbh) is really starting to piss me off but I still want to share my art cause I love drawing and its fun and don't want my art to stay sitting in my art folder

God I love her theme
Also she’s gorgeous
I've been meaning to rewatch the clara seasons ~~definitely not because I have a crush on her ~~

Box office for Red Sonja (2025)
Box office for Red Sonja (1985)
Something has gone terribly wrong here
This movie looked terrible and had little marketing. Not surprising that it did poorly
The original one also looks terrible
I was gonna say I didn’t even know there was a new one
Marketing dropped the ball or just straight up didn’t want to spend the time and money on it
From what I've heard, the movie spent like 2 decades in limbo, bouncing from one director and casting set to another
I think it's more acceptable for a movie to look terrible in 1985 tho
Also that box office is nice
The new one would’ve been better if it embraced the inherent silliness of the sword and sorcery genre
@oak ivy we’re getting Paul
Paul! Paul! Paul! Paul!
PAUL PAUL PAUL
Also why are you on that reddit camille 🤨
Because it’s very funny
And because the marvel equivalent is full of people using fantasy racism against mutants to reinvent the n word
eh its more that there just really unfunny
god i hope its paul just because itd piss off some sections of the spiderman community id hate
spiderman fans are the star wars fans of comics tbh
See, paul existing makes sense in this continuity
its prob harry though if i had to guess
Shh paul time
Paul is speaking
Although the osborns existing kinda doesnt make sense in the MCU tbh
IIRC Oscorp at least already does exist in-continuity?
I thought it was confirmed to not exist in NWH?
I'd have to go and watch it again but I remember my reading being that Oscorp was or at least could be fundamentally different but still extant without breaking anything in-continuity or what was said in the movie
No tower in NYC, etc
youd think someone would make a comment on it to tobeyverse osborn if oscorp existed in the MCU
They did
Because it’s funny
They were right about the krakao arc being ass tho
TMA 160 relisten ||This episode is so deliciously delightful knowing what's to happen||
Can’t believe Ezra Bridger would do this
ashoka ||ezra wasnt trapped with thrwan, thrawn was trapped with paul||
The sub is great
If it really is Paul I will probably die laughing. Humanity will finally be united, united in hatred.
Paul or bust!!! Paul or bust!!!
PAULLLL
PAUL RABIN
ST finale ||this love triangle is so funny. Neither guy ends up with nancy and then we get actual half-decent chemistry between the two guys
||
||I was half expecting both of them to realize "Oh wait we're gay for each other, this whole thing we've had going, it's just been romantic tension all along"||
||Would have salvaged the whole plotline tbh tbh||
ST finale ||is the red rocky dimension between the real world and the mind-prison meant to be vecna's mind world? like el's black void?||
That's what I understood yes
Yeah
||xD I love mike explaining that he needs some firepower as well before demonstrating that he does not know anything about said firepower||
It's weird because ||we get two entirely new locales that are not the Upside Down, meaning we have FOUR different planes of reality. We have the real world, the Upside Down, Henry's mindscape, and the second world being connected||
Oh wait actually I think I misread your comment
||The mind prison is Henry's mindscape||
||The red rocky dimension is the world that Vecna wants to use the Upside Down to merge with Earth||
That's how I understood it
||not the abyss, the one with the red water floor and the rock pillars||
||that max (and later max and holly) went through in s4 and mid s5 to escape from vecna's visions/camasotz||
||from the running up that hill scene||
Ohhh
Then yeah
||I think both that and the mind prison are Vecna's mindscape, but the mind prison is the one obviously shaped by Vecna more||
ST finale ||my understanding is there's the abyss, upside down, and real world as three realms/planets of physical space, and then there's the mind spaces of el's void, camazotz/visions, and the red place||
||oh my goddd not this guy again||
Who
||scarred face military guy||
||rip kali she was in the show fr||
||...did they seriously just bring her back so she could make el agree to kill herself and then die?||
I think the new Jon Bois series might be the best he’s ever done
its good but i wouldn't put it above a couple of the others
yeah
Man how did I totally miss that Comicstorian passed away a year and a bit ago
He was one of my favorite YouTubers back in the day when I was really into comics, I spent so many hours on his videos
I haven't watched him in years which is probably why I wasn't aware but rip Benny, you were one of the best parts of my teenage years
guys Jamie Campbell Bower might be the perfect Scarecrow
i've seen art of him as Joker but he fits Scarecrow better tho he would do fantastic as either
So
Stranger Things fans online are somehow deluding themselves into thinking there’s going to be a 9th episode released on January 7th
I saw that...
Close enough, welcome back Sherlock fandom
Get that evil out of here
Begone back to the 2010s where it belongs
Superwholock is soon to infiltrate the server
Huh
if it takes me until the 7th to finish watching the finale does that count?
ST5 e6 ||Im so tired of this season already, its so bad||

I feel like that gave me a stroke
It almost started to make sense at one point and i got scared
Dumb question: does "man carrying thing" mean:
- a man carrying a thing
- a man-carrying thing?
I think the former
He's not always carrying thing, but sometimes I guess.
Larger proportion of this video than usual has him carrying thing.
My dad and I finally finished Stranger Things a couple nights ago.
Loved it.
I love this series. I want to rewatch the whole show from the beginning again. Even if it means rewatching Season 3. 😛
Yes
the man is a carrying-thing
IIRC he used to be called man carrying book so id presume its a man carrying a thing
ohhh, i see
I swear they have Maya Hawke do exactly this like four different times this season
Its not just her
Even Steve did one
Ive not seen the final episode yet so ive probably got another good 5 to sit through still, looking at the length of the episode
New 52 DC editors really saw this relationship and said “Ok, but what if we made Lois insufferable and not interested in Clark and ALSO what if we paired Clark up with Wonder Woman, the most boring possible partner for him”
Diana deserves better
Clark deserves better too because there is no upgrading from Lois Lane
Lois doesn’t deserve this either
It’s just that of the pair, she’s the catch. How many Pulitzer does her husband have again? That’s right. Fewer than her
It isn't, but she has a lot of them
I swear if James Gunn is even considering the possibility of doing WonderSupes in the DCU…
After Superman i doubt it
Oh 100%
I’m just memeing
No way you have an entire movie dedicated to Clark and Lois being perfect for each other just to throw that away
Batman and Catwoman are primary
But when Catwoman isn’t around, Batman and Diana are second loooong before the blueberry
I don’t really like Bruce x Diana either tbh, like sure it’s WAY better than WonderSupes but I prefer when the trinity are just three very close friends
I also think the lack of an actual love interest (besides maybe Steve?) for Diana has just resulted in editors trying to pair her up with almost everyone in DC to see if anything works
What happens between me and my AO3 tab stays between me and my AO3 tab
And yes btw I do have an AO3 tab on my phone open at all times
I think that Bruce and Diana is almost entirely a Bruce Timm animated thing
in the comics he's got like 2 or 3 other people who are next in line after Selina before Diana
Yeah, I don’t recall it being an actual thing in the comics, I know WonderSupes was a thing in the N52 but I don’t know if Bruce and Diana were ever a thing
Talia is Bruce’s second love interest after Selina anyway
Like that’s been an established thing
I do know it's showed up in the comics but has never been much of a thing
Cosmic have you seen the one Arthurian Batman and Superman comic
I dont think so??

I recently caught up on the current world's finest batman/superman comic and its so fun
Mark Waid said he’s gonna keep writing that book until he retires
I want 100 issues AT LEAST of that run
It’s crazy good
Worlds finest?
God that sounds amazing if so
I hope the DCU gives superman/Batman more of a friendship (than rivalry)
Yup
I haven’t read it yet but it looks fun (Dark Knights of Steel)
||this is Supes and Batman||
speakong of comics
im reading through absolute batman rn
I dont get the hype
i really dont
Honestly some decent chunk of it probably does just come from the crazy (re)designs
I know the Joker design was getting spread around everywhere online
the writing is just so bleh
its not full on like batman thats just punisher but it has a lot of overlap with that area
Tbh I read it as one of my first comics last year and for me it was mainly just a really easy book to get into with some cool art and moments
I don't think I've read enough Batman to properly judge the characterisation but I found it easy to get into and sort of... connect with the energy of (because of how some of the reveal/hype moments were done)

||I feel like at a certain point they just sorta stop trying to even pretend that Goa'uld technology should try to make sense, probably around the point that they decided that 1 shot with a zat was a stun 2 kills and 3 disintegrates :P||
To be fair ||They did realize the zat thing was stupid, they wrote themselves in a corner and basically stopped using them in production, and parodied it in 200.

TO ME MY X MEN🤑
soo peak
We getting Wolverine vs Hulk movie adaptation after this huh
|| that shot of Cyclops tho ||
peak fiction
singlehandedly made me interested in this movie
THEY DID THE THING
Suddenly I’m interested
I don't know how many final appearances Patrick Stewart needs in this role but I'm down
talking about art
the cinematography of all the trailers was locked in months ago at least
is this the fox Xmen getting transported ot the MCU
or is it like just the same actors
well they say the X-Men will return, implying that it's them. I suppose it's a matter of perspective, though
their timelines are a little funky to begin with
I'd think of it either as, 'it's them', or 'it's a newly introduced universe within the MCU that is virtually identical to the FOX series'
Don’t ask questions just watch the xmen shaped dangling keys
I mean
Would you honestly expect them to pull together a decent story after this whole debacle with Majors and this last phase?
I don't. So I am just here for nostalgia bait which works for me which is || Xmen||
Jingle jingle jingle
Pretty much how I feel, if I'm looking for a deep story, I know this ain't it
though honestly, even if nothing went wrong with Majors, I think they'd be doing the same thing? And if you believe Feige, RDJ probably still would have come in as Doom by the time Secret Wars came around, whether or not Majors was in the movie
like, the audiences have given Marvel a pretty clear mandate here, popular pre-existing characters sell tickets, but they're not interested in new characters and new franchises right now
spider-man sells, Deadpool & Wolverine sells, even Dr Strange sells, but anything new? Not today
ah i didnt watch deadpool and wolverine so i didnt know if they got zapped to the MCU in that movie or something
Honestly, the X-Men were already confusing with their timelines, it's not something that started with this movie lol
I just think the Russo brothers wanted the X-Men to tell a story and they got them. I don't know if they had any trouble deciding which version they should use; they just chose the obvious answer
FWIW I'm mostly just leaning towards the 'virtually identical universe' interpretation when I watch it, partially because I'm guessing that the X-Men universe, as well as many universes portrayed in the film, are probably gonna bite the dust
i think they just want to tell us a GOOD story
I think they will do their best within the conditions they're under
I mostly trust the Russo bros, and if they thought it was just gonna be slop, they wouldn't be here
And you really don't need multiple branches across various themes to tell it
I wonder how much of the box office budget RDJ has been promise
I've suspected for a while that the ending of the 'Multiverse' saga was going to be some sort of reboot, give them an opportunity to start over, and this is the big blowout sale
nothing I've seen so far makes me doubt this
Oh, that's obvious, we all know how Doomsday is going to end
I think what brought the Russo brothers there is the story of how to get there
I love the foX-Men. they're not good movies but I had a lot of fun watching them
Age of Apocalypse is just so silly but my bestie and I had a great time in the theater watching it
I BELIEVE IN HARVEY DENT https://x.com/discussingfilm/status/2008593216124448792?s=46
What if the writers of stranger things were on lord of the rings-
Writing comes from: https://x.com/The_Kyle_Mann/status/2004702258915848267
This is insane to say about the russo bros of all directors
cosnidering they made electric state
K
Look, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, but I think some people are better at one genre than another
You're not going to ask Scorsese to make a superhero movie, and you're not going to ask Tolkien to write a space science fiction book
The Russo brothers' success with Marvel is expected to be the same, since obviously Marvel hasn't had a bad movie to this day with them as directors
i meant more the AI voices in that or wtver
ST S5E6 || They’re introducing the idea THIS LATE that the upside down is a wormhole bridge?
On one hand, that’s hella neat. On the other, you can’t just raise the question of “what’s the world on the other side like?” 2 episodes before your finale like that. That’s a recipe for disappointment because either:
- it’s not answered
- it’s answered and it’s boring
-it’s answered, it’s interesting, and it sets you up for another series that may or may not happen
Kinda guarantees you’re going to have an unsatisfying ending. I’m way more interested now in what’s on the other side of the wormhole than the core plot
||
Hey dont worry theyll explain it 5 thousand times
Leak of the week, Avengers Doomsday
||https://x.com/i/status/2008608278046273976||
tbh my questions abotu that twist are ||Why the hell did noone notice the walls of the upside down before this season, and why was el unable to contact vecna in the other dimension even though she could contact a demogorgan in it||
||reminds me ineed to watch black panther||
Tbf ||I think we have seen hints of it already. How far through the episode are you?||
I think that's because ||they hadn't thought of them||
||I actually love that twist cuz up till then i had a gripe that they drew the perfect conclusion from a DnD metaphor every time, and it was neat to learn that what everyone has been assuming for 5 seasons is wrong||
|| I don’t dislike the twist. I think it’s really cool. I just now worry that they may not be able to close out the show in a satisfying way. Granted I know the finale is controversial so far. I’ll find out eventually ||
||Actually, funnily enough, the comparison they make for the Upside-Down in S1 is the Plane of Shadow.
The Plane of Shadow...is a transitive plane. It connects multiple worlds together. Though...not anything like the wormhole thing that i doubt they had the idea for til starting on S5.
While I can believe the Duffers that they always imagined it as a bridge, i expect the exact form wasn't nailed down till now.||
||me when i dont know my DnD lore loll||
ST finale ||hot take: it was pretty good. I know its kinda sloppily made, with tons of little goofs (which led to the conformity gate theory), but JCB is such an incredible actor with his facial expressions and Joyce killing him with the axe was incredible (tho he died a little too easily) Also holly and max cooked this season and i want to like it becuz they're in it. Also just the cutting to all of vecnas crimes was pretty awesome and really hit home for me just how much these people have been in throuhg. Also Mike and El in the void was so so good||
||I think it could've been improved by cutting the CGI monster slop and just have a really well done fight with 5-10 demogorgons and vecna fighting the party. They did this well in episode 4 and it would've been a lot more interesting than season 3 again||
||honestly I think the Internet is overreacting a bit and once the dust settles people will realize this finale was just fine||
It’s the Johnlock conspiracy 2
Yo, I liked the ST finale, I don't get all the complaints.
the finale is like mechanically fine i guess but the writing of the whole season is just so bland
ST 5 all ||I thought everything in season 5 was mostly terrible, the cgi looked glorpy most of the time, the acting was terrible to mid, the dialogue was terrible, there was a huge number of dissatisfying plots or just plot threads that died, didnt care about any of the character drama and most of it never resolved anyway||
Hey its up for intepretation
and it also happened off screen
ST 5 all ||Remember when Dustin was being beaten up and hunted by bullies most days this season?
||
st 5 ||but when the finale happens everyones chill with it||
||It truly took the cake when his graduation speech at the end was about how everyone came together and social circles merged 😭 ||
||yeah that scene is so stupid lmao||
ST 5 all ||The pregnant women were supposed to be in the upside down base right? Guess they all died and any remaining soldier in the upside down base died||
||Unless the military randomly abandoned the upside down base for no reason in a matter of hours?||
https://x.com/DiscussingFilm/status/2008178456488759365 stealing from the rich to give to the poor is bad actually
It's communism, donchaknow
yeah bro please bro the rich need all there money stealing from nobles is unethical please please
please listen to us
Did you watch the trailer ?
Seems infinitely more complex than that

From writer/director Michael Sarnoski and starring Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe. THE DEATH OF ROBIN HOOD – Coming Soon.
RELEASE DATE: Coming Soon
DIRECTOR: Michael Sarnoski
CAST: Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and Noah Jupe
------...
Heres the trailer so we can all talk from the same point
The plot to me seems to be the tired folk hero was actually a bad guy but then uses his skills he used as a bad guy to help someone from the next generation and then he dies trope
it doesnt seem anything particularly complex
Because yes that seems to be the plot
if you boil it down to its basic elements that it was it is though
One of the four masculine stories lmao
the one what if robin hood was bad where the crusades were just the iraq war was at least funnier because it was so stupid
if you pretend that the trailer shows anything about him stealing from the rich to give to the poor then yes it boils down to that
if you watch the trailer I would say that it actually doesn't boil down to that at all
It boils down to the plot loyd outlined. Which while its kinda done a few times before is more complex than "please take this pro rich poeple propaganda, please listen to us stealing from nobels is unethical"
I could satisfy my completionist streak so hard...
So many good shows on this list
if it doesnt have him steal from the rish to give to the poor thats also a bad adapatation
ok
I have so many shows that I've taken to the last season and just... not finished 😅
Of the list I would put sens8, magicians and orphan black at the top
I did struggle with the Magicians a bit - but that was true for the books too
I am sure I'll get around to it eventually
it's funny, pluribus was a show where I really enjoyed the show, didn't really connect with the complaints, and then the season finale came out and I just didn't watch it, granted it was holiday week and I had other things to do but still, it's been long enough
i still need to watch pluribus
I still need to find out what platypus is all about
I feel like I'd never heard of it, and then everyone was talking about it like everyone else knew about it
it was made by Vince Gilligan of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul fame, so it sort of gives it a built-in audience for a new show
Hey @keen flax you see #18 on this list. What’s that show?
Genuinely in awe of how good she looks as Supergirl, we might be in for a generational performance https://x.com/NexusPointNews/status/2008956269483217187?s=20
she was so good in House of the Dragon, I honestly suspect her character aging out of the actress is why I stopped watching it
That’s Rhaenyra Targaryen to you Argent smh
Gotta love that disheveled "I need three more grandes and a big gulp stat" look
Platypus is the new phineas nad ferb spinoff right? /lh
I am extremely behind on all things DC, but I am very fond of disaster Supergirl
I am not behind enough to not recognize that as Marvel!
😝
Ill get around to it!
oh wait the joke there is that the "Chai tea means tea tea" scene from spiderverse(which is a dumbass point but wtver) and i was making a joke abotu how disaster supergirl is just supergirl or wtver
Wait how is that a “dumbass” point?
It’s literally correct. Chai means tea
it's kinda dumb because that may be what it means in their language, but in our language it's how we describe a particular style of tea
Oh I meant the dragon prince was on there.
chai tea means a specific type of tea in english
it's fine for them to make that point, in the sense that it's weird to them? But it's not really a profound point or anything
because chai isnt the english word for tea so its not asking for tea tea its asking for a specific kind of tea thats called that in english
Its the same kinda joke as making a funny about atm machines or all the lake lakes or all the river rivers
Damn spiderverse is a good movie
Oh! Yeah well argent will see the light and focus on a cool show like The Expanse or something 😌
Well I guess today we find out if there’s an actual secret episode of Stranger Things or not
not
I can’t wait to see this goofy ass man interview Bruce Wayne and the Princess of Themyscira
stranger things s5e9 ||damn this episode is crazy good||
The real trick ||Vecna|| pulled was creating mass delusion in the ST fanbase
The irony being (ST) ||the very fans saying society has been duped are the delusional ones lol||
You may be able to guess what article I have prewritten for 8:15 ET tonight
anyone have any examples of a TV series doing a sort of pre-planned encore episode after the announced finale?
