I just strongly believe that there is never a good reason to raise your voice at others. Nor do I agree with the way she talks about other people or to other people. I think that a massive issue with humanity as a whole is the lack of respect people show each other ||

pluribus ||she's in the continual state of having been outed/is being outed against her will; there is a (intentional, i think) comparison to be made between the hive trying to forcibly bring her in to something she clearly doesn't feel a connection to and being sent to conversion camp. and let's be real, the people who run conversion camps are also "happy" and think it's for the good of the kids who are sent there. all of carol's privacy has been invaded as the hive has access to helen's memories BUT she doesn't even get any version of helen because the hive-ification killed her. she's not able to grieve the ONE person she had in her life who it seems she was close to and allowed in to her vulnerable self ||

I haven’t gotten to the flashback episodes mentioned and didn’t know about the conversion camp background (flashbacks are a good way usually to get me to develop greater understanding of a character’s actions). Having that background knowledge a bit early and having that comparison to consider does definitely help. As I can definitely understand how one’s background can shape a person. And yeah conversion therapy quite frankly is imo a very evil, vile thing. I do very much appreciate you laying this out as I tend to suck at catching parallelisms even if they are getting shoved in your face.

I am a bit confused as to how you say she can’t grieve her partner though. What stops one from being able to grieve? Is not one perpetually grieving after the loss of a loved one? I mean I know she’s worrying about the hive mind stuff, but is one able to truly stop or pause grief? ||

pluribus probably later than where you are ||there are lots of ways to stall or taint or resist grieving. she is not being allowed to let helen go because the hive always has "helen". the hive has helen's memories and knowledge of carol it will always use to interact with carol even though it's stupid and callous to do that to carol. helen can't be fully let go and put in the past because there's bits of helen always being shoved in carol's face now.||

Pluribus general thoughts ||I also really dislike Carol as a person and a protagonist, Spooky, for a lot of the same reasons you said. I understand a lot of the reasons why she's acting this way and why she's not the kind of person who's able to control her expressions of anger, but a lot of the things she does (especially the way she treats the Joined sometimes) is very unpleasant to watch and it makes me more sympathetic to the Hive even though I do also think that situation is bad and messed up (especially after episode 6)||

Pluribus 6, more specifically ||I feel like all the outcomes here are bad and I don't really want any of them to happen, which isn't a great headspace to be in for a show where you're supposed to root for a solution to be found. But the Hive has a terrible fate awaiting it that it can't do anything to stop but I don't really want Carol to succeed in her quest to undo it all because... I don't really want her to win or "beat" them||

I'll keep to thinking Abel wasn't snapped out of existance, he didn't glow like Gummy, though, I'm not entirely sure on it— simply teleported away, as Disappearing Guy often does. Franklin Richards is revealed to not be a mutant and is kicked out of his newfound family, breaking his heart. But Mr. sinister and more get to stay. (Mr. Sinister, I will note, is not a mutant). It is very isolationist and very “we are better than everyone else”||
