Yes, I don’t really have a problem with any of the animated elements, I think it looks quite good honestly. But I also note that it isn’t all that different from the original, just a bit more photorealistic.

I wish I was more than a toddler when Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty were touring with Wicked because I LOVE the clips I’ve seen of them in Wicked. This is who my mom saw originally.
I saw Jackie Burns twice and Kara Lindsay once and they were AMAZING.

(I do have to admit to not liking the movie but I’m too caught in the past to like new interpretations of it, as excellent as they are. ||Yes, and I would have liked it if he was hidden, but he is a massive part of the plot and studios get nervous with trailers that don’t explain what the movie is about and general audiences don’t really care for them either. Statistically, you are more likely to enjoy a piece of media the more you know about it.||

But ultimately how much a trailer does or does not spoil the plot doesn’t really matter in the long run, both critically and financially.

In fact one criticism I have seen a lot of PHM is ||people disliking the reveal of aliens, as the were expecting a story more like the Martian. False expectations are much more damaging than spoilers||

But I truly believe that if there ever was a movie to go into know literally nothing its this one. Not knowing where the story is going will make the experience so much better

Most people don't mind spoilers all that much when you're trying to get them to read something, and anything you can say in a single sentence won't spoil the entirety of a book. If you can truly ruin a whole story with a single sentence explaining a reveal, I'm sorry but that story was not good.
Anyways, here are some of my pitches.
To my wife, a biologist, I tell her ||"This is a cool book about bacteria called astrophage eating the sun and a biologist has to figure out why."||
To my old roommate, a physicist (important context: I'm an engineer and we're good friends), I tell him ||"This is a book about a scientist and an engineer becoming best friends as they try to pilot in an unknown solar system."||
To my english teacher friend, I tell him ||"This is a book about a man and an alien struggling to learn to talk to each other, with some scenes being very similar to Arrival as they learn the nuances of each other's language."||

Murderbot S1 all || Yeah I enjoyed that a lot. 😄 Did a good job adapting what I loved about the novella, while also expanding on the lighter elements in a way that worked well.

The spinal cord extraction scene was deeply uncomfortable, but also funny. Which made a change of pace from deeply socially uncomfortable but also funny scenes. :p

The final episode showing the team rescuing Murderbot was a good way of showing the awfulness of the Corporation Rim directly, while also paying things off in a way the novella couldn’t do as well while sticking solely in Murderbot’s perspective. The sudden absence of Murderbot’s narration/commentary also nicely emphasises the events. I also appreciated having Gurathin talk to him when he left, and “I/you need to check the perimeter”. Very good all up.

I have been wondering how they would approach season 2, doing 1 novella per season isn’t really practical if you want to have the rest of the cast available to come back by the time you get to season 4. :p Sounds like they may be mixing elements of the next three novellas together, which could be interesting.

I’m most eager to see ART, though I suppose they might benefit the least from the adaptation to visual media. 🤔 ||

||I don't agree. I think it makes sense. Vox is a personality who can spin anything in his favor, which is why the heroes couldn't do anything right. That on top of his having a spy and Charlie's desperation is what led to him getting the upper hand.
But when it came to the final showdown, cooler heads prevailed. Charlie had calmed down, and Vaggi was helping her make a plan, and Alastor had his own separate plan going. Vox lost because of his own character flaws, namely his obsession with Al and his desire to showboat.||

Another option I think would be fun for Stargate that could allow it to be both very new but also address some of the issues in the original could be that it's about another civilization, possibly in another galaxy, that finds a connection to the gate network and slowly comes into contact with earth through the people they meet.

Hm, good sound design did a lot of work as well.

I think something like Atlantis is likely what they will go for. Some connection to Earth, but an expedition/base in a separate place with mostly new characters and new technology and threats to explore. Would make it a lot easier to be a decent entry point without rebooting.

I think they will probably also avoid just rehashing SGU which had almost the same starting plot as Atlantis but then tried to be something a bit too different.

But like I said before we could get something sort of like the Expanse given it's Prime and they would have a fine line to walk and make it feel like Stargate if they go that route.

I love SGU, but tonally it sounds like they want to go back to something more like SG1/SGA, and I think that's the right choice for attempting to revive the franchise.

Hazbin S2 ||Yeah I know what you mean. They did kinda try and justify it with the whole Angel spy thing but it did feel like there was multiple ways the good guys could have won at multiple times. The main thing stopping them was their pacifism and just... Choice not to do anything. It's like when Vox fired the first shot at heaven and the hotels reaction was to just hunker down and wait for it all to blow over, it kinda does make sense they'd react like that but would be nice if our protagonists were a little more proactive||

Hazbin 2 || I was more or less pleased with how Alastor’s gambit played out. I do think the “lay hands on” stipulation was suitably foreshadowed and set up, as well as the use of Charlie to make Vox the most powerful sinner in Hell, negating his deal with Rosie. ||

I imagine they have to keep the tension ramping but if that tension comes at the expense of characters’ sheer negligence or incompetence it just becomes annoying to watch. 5 seasons in and the only character that displays any initiative and drive is Shirley and even she gets one upped multiple times

I think movie Elphaba is softened a bit. Not script-wise but in portrayal. Which isn’t a bad thing! But it does give a different vibe that is likely more relatable to other groups of people. Characters like this can be magic in how different depictions can mean so much to different people. ||

I think Glinda and Elphaba need different kinds of singers that both Ari and Cynthia fit very well. Glinda's parts tend to be airy and slide between squeaky/nasaly (early Galinda) to operatic (mature Glinda). Meanwhile Elphaba's biggest parts are about powerhouse vocals, belting really intense sustains with a lot of volume.

Ari has always had a fantastic high range (those whistle notes in No One Mourns the Wicked are stunning) and she's such a capable vocal mimic, she can flip between the different styles really well. If anything, I think my one note is that sometimes Ari's a little too good at the Galinda voice and she sounds almost identical to the OG Chenoweth performance sometimes, but she puts enough of her own flavor on it that it doesn't happen all the time.

This is interesting because I feel Arianna feels very uniquely different from the Chenoweth / Hilty style. (Not in a bad way. Arianna was the highlight of the movie for me)

I also think Arianna’s vocal style works better in a movie format. On stage ||the operatic notes sound amazing. On screen they can be a bit much. So, the adaption to more whistle tones and pseudo/mimic opera rather than that pure opera sound actually works better on screen. ||

They also describe the loathing a lot like other people describe love: "There's a strange exhilaration/In such total detestation/It's so pure, so strong" and "I will be loathing you my whole life long"||

Whether Elphaba reciprocates or not, I think Glinda’s feelings toward Elphaba (even ignored) are important for the complete loss of love in Glinda’s life and the betrayal of her ideals at the end of the first act||

Glass Onion ||I still like how this movie did its genre-switching game-changing twist halfway through. A similar kind of stunt to what the first one did, but pulled off in a totally different direction. Had me going "Ooh! Ah! What?!" multiple times over. Everything tied together so well, it was so cleanly complete. A very well done and good-old-fashioned whodunnit. And I felt like Benoit and Helen were kind of co-protagonists throughout this, though to be fair, we don't exactly know she is until about the halfway point.||
