That said, it's funny you got that impression. In a recent interview they said M9 || That the team is not gonna start as a team, and we will see more of their individual stories before they group up. So Im expecting a somewhat slower start in terms of larger plot? Although they could weave that in to their individual stories, some of them have some overlap with the overall narrative but... well, they kinda stumbled into that plot in the original campaign in the first place, so would be interesting to see. They did increasingly become more liberal with the adaptations the longer LoVM went so I could see them cleaning up and re-imagining a lot of C2 for the screen...seeing as C2 was rather random and aimless a lot of the time ||

M9 pre-release interview spoilers || They also said M9 episodes will be longer, and the season overall will have more runtime than LoVM, which would maybe give them more time to introduce the characters individually and go into some plot stuff in 1 season ||

C2 + M9 trailer || As I'd said earlier (and as they said in an interview), they are taking liberties in adaptation. In the trailer they seem to get a pretty explicit "mission" to get involved with the beacon and the war (from Dairon it seems?) instead of just stumbling into it? Iirc they do run into Dairon on Xhorhas when they go there, but they go for completely different reasons. They really do just stumble upon the whole plot in the campaign ||

Yeah, so this is what I mean. C2+M9 trailer || In the trailer, someone who seems to be Dairon is saying that "an arcane weapon has crossed our border" and that "war is coming", and basically enlists them to investigate whats up.

Vs the campaign where they basically witness the Dynasty attacking Zadash to retrieve the Beacon and it feels unexpected. They luck into finding the Kryn soldiers escaping with the Beacon, kill them and get it. Then decide to not return it to the Empire and basically hold on to it for a while. Then go to Xhorhas to rescue Yeza, one thing leads to another and they find themselves face to face with the Bright Queen and Liam does Liam things and returns the Beacon after they learn what it actually is.

One seems intentional (tbf it is just a trailer, so who knows how it'll actually play it), and the other feels like chance. Yes, yes, I know, Matt is guiding the narrative, he'd been planting the seeds and planning this whole conflict in the background. But the way the narrative shakes out at the table, from the characters pov, it's chance. And the players do make every effort to avoid all of the politics until that point LUL . There's that whole story that Matt was gonna bring the other Matt as a guest NPC who was the Spymaster equivalent dude in the Empire and the players just effed off to Xhorhas 😂 (edit: so it never happened and we never got other Matt as guest ever in CR) ||

I was hopeful at the end of book 1, he'd finally found something he was good at (engineering), and he was also allowed to finally have some emotional range with Yue. Then that kinda got...mostly ignored for the first half. He was just the complany comic relief for so long. It wasn't until Serpent's Pass that he finally started to be a character again.||

I swear I don't mean to rain in your parade, but I find this whole KS a bit suspect. One of the first things you read when you open the page is

But the fund goal is 250k USD, which is enough to maybe do a 21 or 22min episode (prob not even that much in 2025). If you actually read some of the text in the description it seems like their goal is to try to show other investors that there's an audience for this so they can procure more funding to actually complete the series, but that's kinda burried in there. Although if you do go to the "main goal" section it does say the main goal with the 250k is an animated teaser of Rayla and Callum (which we got). Anyway, hopefully the people who want this can get it and enjoy it, but I do find the campaign slightly misleading

Just visual spectacle I think, the first one in the sense that its 3D was reportedly the best ever in a theater to that point? I was a tad surprised the second did as well as it did, but that also had spent so much time working on the underwater motion capture tech? Maybe the second one just hit at a moment where people didn't want such a complicated movie or something

beyond that, you just have a famous and well-liked director who is clearly passionate about the project, that still counts for something for at least a few people

Kpop Demon Hunters || Yeah that was pretty great. ✨ Enjoyable even for someone with no interest in kpop and increasing discomfort with fan culture. 😅 (The tiger is still my favourite part though. :p)
Amusingly, somehow Soda Pop got Surface Pressure from Encanto stuck in my head instead of any of the actual songs in the film. :p Not a knock against any of the songs either, that’s just where my brain happened to take itself. 🤷 ||
