DC & Marvel brought this back for their crossover this year, with a Lobo/Wolverine character named “Logo”

also this a fascinating look at how popularity has changed because no way that Deadshot or Bullseye, Kon-el, or Creeper would have made this list today

Kon would probably be swapped out for John Kent (the inferior Superboy) and I doubt that the deadshot bullseye cross would’ve been made

My final review:
Watch Seasons 1 and 2, probably only half of the episodes from 3, skip 4, watch half of 5, and skip the first few episodes from 6.
When the show was good, it was incredible. But when it wasn't incredible it was kinda meh.
Worth the watch for sure. Seasons 1 and 2 are, in my opinion, still some of the best writing for television I've ever seen. Genuinely amazing stuff

fair to jump around I suppose, the first half of season 3 was pretty bad

the way the story goes, they were having such a bad time writing for season 3 at first that they just had to talk to ABC and figure out how long they wanted the show to run for, they were thinking maybe 2 more full seasons or 3 shorter ones

Yeah, the way I remember hearing it is they had roughly 3 seasons of stuff planned after season 1 did so well, then ABC said, "stretch it to 6 seasons."
Between that and the writer's strike, the show suffered a lot in the middle

I'm wondering if there's a fan listing somewhere of all of the episodes that you oughta watch. Bounce around and limit interactions with the storybeats that go nowhere.
||Like, the entire group at the temple at the start of season 6 was really just kinda there until they died. They didn't give any helpful lore, they didn't realy contribute to any specific character's arc, they were just there.||
||I also was very averse to bringing in yet another faction and opening more questions during the last season of the show.||

they would introduce questions without knowing the answers, and that made for interesting water cooler talk but it was hard to pay them off in a satisfying way

one of the things people always say about JJ Abrams, even though he had little involvement with the show after the pilot, he introduced a bunch of his trademark "Mystery boxes" in it

There were a lot of instances where they just refused to give any kind of answer, and that was frustrating. The whole last season ||smoke man Locke wanted to get off the island and everyone in the know kept saying, "we can't let that happen," and when asked why they'd go, "because that would be the end."||
||The end of what? The world? Goodness in people? The island? The show? Please, give me any reason to actually care about whether or not he can leave, because from my perspective it never felt like anyone had an actual answer for why he had to stay.||

I can't imagine there would be many episodes fans would recommend skipping, maybe a handful in early season 3 but it gets rather serialized towards the end so it would be jarring to jump around much

||That all being said, I did really like the stuff with the cave with the light. I thought that was really good and perfectly struck the boundary between something esoteric and something understandable. Only the protector of the island can find it, the light is the spark of humanity that gives people goodness, if the light is put out people lose that spark, the smoke man Locke wants to put it out. I eat that kinda thing up, I love that stuff.||
||Plus, and I know it's kinda small, but the set design of the light cave was just really nice. It was the only temple structure that felt unique to the island, and the way it had been taken over by the natural cave formations was really cool. ||

Yeah, that's fair. I personally felt there were a few times where it seemed like people were running in circles to fill out the episode count, if that makes sense.

||Everything with Richard was awesome. He became my favorite character very quickly, I loved him so much and wish him the best. His flashback episode was so fricken good.||
||Jin and Sun are my favorite couple, I was really sad to see them get got, but so happy that they finally got to be together again.||
||Rose and Bernard are also my favorite couple, they were so fricken happy living on the island in solitude. Literal goals.||
||Hurley was great. I wish I had more to say about him, but he's just so perfect. He's the best friend everyone deserves.||
||I feel like Kate, Claire, and Sayid were done dirty by the end. Kate's role was to be present, Claire's role was to be crazy, Sayid's role was to be killer, and it felt like they were all kinda just left to the sidelines. It really felt like they didn't know how to give any of those characters a satisfying ending. Sayid even commited self-sacrifice in the end.||
||Sawyer was great. The only character who tried to understand the workings of what was going on specifically for a singular purpose, which was to leave. He absolutely did not care about any of the more metaphorical stuff that was going on, and it was refreshing compared with the rest of the cast.||

From my understanding, the ending was meant to say that the alternate timeline flashes were meant to be them in the afterlife finding each other before moving on, but the stuff on the island was still happening in the real world. Is that right?||

The only reason there was confusion is something that aired at the end that was supposedly inserted by ABC?

But also a fair amount of people watched the episode who hadn’t been keeping up with the show

||I think if they had taken another pass at the conversation between Jack and Christian in the church or shown bits of the people who got off the island living a normal life that would have made it more clear||

The Batman 2022 + wild sequel speculation ||All I'll say is the movie ended with a flooded city and it's moving into the winter months, seeing as it begins on Halloween night, and I think it's a ripe opportunity for a sequel to pick up sometime in December or January and the city has largely been frozen over already on account of there still having been lots of flooding. As far as I see it, there's no better time to have a Mr. Freeze in Gotham, story-wise.||

I think that's how Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was made, at least at first. When they started filming, there wasn't even a script ready, so they were just making up fight scenes and putting a story to them after the fact.

I just don't get how that happens. You'd think a movie would be written before anything else, that's the only thing that makes sense to me. Like, if it hasn't been written, making a movie without a script or story just seems like a violation of common sense.

I still think Riddler and Penguin were great and compelling and that their characters were executed very well, but I was pleasantly surprised to finally love a Batman movie because of Batman more than anything else.

Another hope for the sequel is that we'll see more Bruce Wayne. Or rather, more of this version of Batman trying to be Bruce Wayne.

Actual big shocker, because I'm a huge music lover and I love film scores and Michael Giacchino is a great composer, but I feel like he kind of fell flat with this one. I can’t remember who said it in the convo, sorry, but got all || I do think that the show ran into issues with the fact that the world is set up to not have “good” endings but like the type of bad ending intended for the book probs was not going to work for the show. Like Dany was the hero for a decade and had to be because you can’t have a third of the show just be something people don’t care about. And so to give her the burn everything ending is just bad adaptation ||

stories written by AI are definitionally not good in my mind because a good story involves some degree of human connection with the author for me

good media is meant to say something about the world or the human experience. it's crafted to bring out certain kinds of emotional responses or make you think about a situation.

ai has no intentions, ai has no idea what an audience member would think or feel in response to what it spits out

all it can do is regurgitate chewed up mush from actual creators and hope it tastes enough like the original food that you'll be willing to eat it
