My biggest problem with that plotline is Stargate all ||it eventually becomes the angle they want to sort of address the Christian beliefs but they never fully commit. So it coming off as a weird appropriation first then being a half-assed commentary on christianity is fitting in the context of its some white Gen x dudes writing this. It also means it does improve on the appropriation aspect in some ways over time but also becomes a worse plot device. And the appropriative stuff is still there in certain uses of it too||

I just remember that the only things I'd heard about The Legend of Korra were negative, but then I saw it was on Netflix sometime during 2020, and I decided I wanted to give it a try. Having only heard negative things about it from a few people, I didn't know what to expect and decided to go into it with an open mind, not expecting greatness or trash.

And I really liked what I saw.

Korra s1 ||her getting 3 out the gate eliminates her avatar journey. The whole point of learning the elements is working with the 4 nations to be connected to all of them. Randomly being disconnected to air would have worked but they fix it in 10 seconds toward the end of the season and she doesn't struggle with it ever afterwards iirc. Shoot, she doesnt even naturally water bend most of the time! She's the water avatar and yet we see her fire bend - the element shes supposed to have the hardest time with btw - in her sleep 😭||

I cant wait to watch the sequel

My sequel series ideas (Avatar all spoilers) ||The premise of my series is that a select few people figure out who the Avatar is when they're only a baby, then disagree over how to utilize that. One wants to kidnap and train the Avatar from birth, one wants to prevent the world from having more Avatars, etc. They're all villains. When one of their Avatar kidnapping things goes awry and the baby is placed in the care of the White Lotus, a team is assembled to become her caretakers. Said team is the new Team Avatar and they are the protagonists of the show. They become kind of a found family unit and the show takes place over the course of years, with the Avatar being 12 by the time it ends.||

My ideas are very, very different from what we'll actually be getting, haha.
