But yeah, you will want to put in the ISO in EFI mode
Also, you could try the brutal approach of dd if=file.iso of=/dev/...theusb... bs=2M status=progress

Might be you have the USB mounted while trying to write on it and it's causing problems

if not that, then probably gotta find a different usb. Those things just aren't very durable tbh
