#Issues with font on i3/Alacritty

yea i used the same name Meslo LGM Nerd Font
im double checking how it looks and i think my eyes are failing me
it might just be that the letter spacing is abit off-putting
is there a way to change that?
I'll try it on my machine and see what I get. Give me a bit to get home
aye, thanks
Sorry, had a server go down that I had to take care of. While I get my laptop set up, could you humor me and screenshot or copy paste the font line in your config?
Try toggling between these two and notice the number 0 and see if they differ each time you change it (ctrl+shift+r after you save the file to reload the screen)
I'm able to see the difference, but it's so slight that I wasn't able to tell without looking at the 0s
font pango:DejaVu Sans Mono 12
font pango:MesloLGM Nerd Font 12
(comment out one as you try the other and vice versa)
There was 0 difference
I got the Meslo directory in the right place
Do I have to do anything on conf.d?
Can you show me what the 0 looks like with both fonts?
Are you sure you did a ctrl+shift+r on dejavu sans? that's not the 0 that is used with that font
This is what DejaVu Sans looks like
Make sure you also don't have two font lines uncommented in your i3 config
i tried that too it shows as the same
its also likely that i have it installed but it just doesnt seem like it
because it looks different to how it looks on my fedora workspace
i copied the same vid and the name section is coloured and abit less spaced out
is there such a way to remove the 'vulpes@archlinux' to something like a plain tilde symbol with an arrow
i see it on other terminals
This is your $PS1 variable, you can set it however you like in your .bash_profile or .bashrc. not sure about other shells
thank you, its been bugging me how much extra line space its taking on my already tiny screen
ok update: i changed the font BUT
i remember this happened when i did this on fedora but i forgot the fix
i did fc-cache -fv
Bleh. I was going to recommend that earlier but got sidetracked. Good job!
it turns out its no longer MesloLGS Nerd Font
i had to type it as MesloLGS NF
that and a lil fc-cache did the trick
all's left now is to clear the scramble
Out of curiosity, how did you install the font?
i installed from the AUR at first, but i wasnt sure if it was any good so i deleted that directory and installed manually
cuz it didnt pickup at first
Ah yeah, the fc-cache is needed if you add it manually
