I’m basically brand new to Linux other than an old pc I ran Ubuntu on for about a year rarely using it. I’m using a gigabyte H81M board with 16gb ddr3 gtx 560ti and an i5-4460 with ethernet and am running into the error in the image below when installing. Loads into grub shows Ubuntu loading then goes to this error. Loads fine on my main computer but won’t work on this one so assuming it’s a bios setting. Secure boot is off. I went thru every forum on google for a few hours.

Ubuntu website as an iso to a sandisk flashdrive
Used a usb3.0 port too
It shows the try or install Ubuntu then loads to the loading screen shows an error of my 4 cpu cores softlocking or smthn then loads to the picture listed at the top I tried to install Ubuntu to my sata ssd on my main pc worked fine but when I plugged it to my second code pc it led me to the second screen from the second picture
Probably flashed incorrectly
I have installed the iso to two different flash drives and even attempted directly to the ssd. I’ve installed Ubuntu before to a different pc and it worked fine but this new pc is posing issues. When I ran it on my main pc with the same sad it loads perfectly fine
It may be Ubuntu’s kernel
It may be a bit old or new for you computer, can I suggest Debian?
It’s not as updated as Ubuntu but should work fine
Also one more thing to note about Debian, it’s a bit more hands on
I will try that in the morning I know this pc runs windows 10 perfectly fine so this is a side project to see what I can do. Mainly for Minecraft alts to afk some large servers
lol
Ubuntu just seemed easier for Mc install lol
I was temped to jump straight for the top and try arch Linux
No
Don’t
I use arch
I never recommended it for beginners
Unless you want to spend WAYY to much time with documentation, go ahead, let me know how that works out
To be fair I have college friends who are teaching me arch slowly which is why I was tempted to try it
lol
