#Visual corruption on HoloOS (SteamOS derivative)

So you were fine in the install medium, but not after boot? Or you had installed it, but at some point rebooting caused this
It worked when i had win10 installed on it, and when i made my sudo account et
Yes, right😊
Should i install to ram also? Had that option
You do realize how infuriating it is for me to give you two, mutually exclusive options for how to interpret your first message and you answer "yes", as though it somehow answers my question.
No, the install to ram is not relevant to this situation
You either did one, or the other
Yes/no is not an answer
I misread, sorry. But the first. It was fine in the install medium, and until i made the sudo account and installed steam. After i did this, and rebooted the problem began.
What happens if you boot from the install media, again? Would you have normal graphics again? Don't need to install anything
How did you installed Steam? Which procedure have you followed?
Lastly, did you try to change to other tty, by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 for example?
I can try to find a YT video of the Holo OS setup, that shows what i did.
No
But it is a OS that is made from the Steam Deck OS

Would you mind trying this? It's for checking if you can use a terminal
At 3.45 is where the problems began. I did the installation process he does after 3.35, and rebooted. Then the bug occured after restart
I can do, if i can fix the image😅
Not easy to do ut while the screen is like this
Do you have an USB live image at hand?
Sorry to insist, but you did try this, but nothing happened on your screen?
On the other hand, I was checking this page: https://github.com/HoloISO/holoiso
Were they mention the prerequisites:
- 4GB flash drive
- More than 8 GB RAM if you plan to use "Copy-To-RAM" option to install
- AMD GPU that supports RADV Drivers instead of Radeon (Southern Islands and Sea Islands require additional kernel cmdline property)
- UEFI-enabled device
- Disabled secure boot
I'd re-check all of them, specially the AMD GPU
If you can't get a working tty on the current status of your system, you'd need a USB live image to check for the GPU
"Common questions" section isn't very hopeful, either ^^
I have an NVIDIA G-
No. Not even questionable. If you have an NVIDIA GPU, You're on your own. Latest Valve updates for Steam client including normal and Jupiter bootstraps have broken gamepadui on NVIDIA GPUs, and if so, no support will be provided for you.
The pc has Amd 460x gpu, so that will be Radeon i guess. Could try to reinstall the OS, but probably the issues will return
Possible that radv drivers dont work on that card?
Havent tried, since i cant see anything on my screen. But i could reinstall the OS and try?
If the problem is just the GUI of Steam, changing to a terminal might work. So I'd try the Ctrl+Alt+F1 anyway before having to reinstall
It should work with F1, F2, F3, F4 as well. Be aware that you possibly need to add the Fn key to reach the function keys.
This happens
I'd take a moment to check if your GPU specific model supports RADV drivers mentioned above.
You can find this model on the specs of your computer manual, looking for your specific model on Google, or with lspci | grep VGA if you could access to a terminal console (for example, booting from an USB live image)
You gotta try the things people tell you
the reason why they asked you to use f1-f4 is because they probably didn’t know where display server is running for you
I tried f1-f4, but nothing happens. I will try to reinstall the OS, but first check radv support. I think the laptop could be too old
I see that they make Linux drivers, but only for Ubuntu, REHL and SLED
Tried to reinstall one more time, to get more screenshots. 100% gpu/driver issues?
Could try to install drivers manually before reboot
Tried it now😊 and showing how steamOS is installed
Doesen't look like my gpu supports radv
The laptop is from 2016

Only real question I have on all of this is… why are you trying to install a specialized distro into a desktop that it was not specifically designed to do at all?
Just for fun😊 But i have seen people making it work on desktops/laptops too. But i probably will try another OS
