#No GRUB commands, despite GRUB Being installed
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
grub im using as my bootloader
it came w arch
hmm
well maybe i put it in the optional pkgs
i cant remember
if i go to /boot/grub all its files were there, i was even able to use grub customizer on it
grub is not a command and update-grub is a debian specific command
Maybe you should verify that you've installed it first.
And maybe you should look at the wiki.
you will need to use grub-mkconfig
im pretty fuckin sure ive installed it because my pc boots into it every time i start it
and pamac shows it as installed
There's more than one bootloader lmao
hell even when i yay -S grub it asks if id like to replace pkgs
You claimed something which was false as how you were sure it was installed.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GRUB
https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/grub/#:~:text=usr/bin/grub-mkconfig
The grub package comes with grub-mkconfig
If grub-mkconfig doesn't exist, and you have grub installed, then your $PATH is incorrect or you're smoking shit/you're not using grub/etc.
So I'm going to say that you aren't actually using grub.
UEFI is/can be its own bootloader.
the "bootloader" whatever it is only came with arch, arch other boot tools and uefi
didnt even come with os prober
so it didnt have my widnows efi
Arch does not come with a bootloader. It does not have a default.
no i mean
the options the bootloader had
had arch, arch other, and uefi settings
no windows boot manager
how do i get it to detect and auto add windows
it wont because it refuses to use os-prober for some reason
ive tried to add it manually using grub customizer but it just says invalid EFI path
if you're using grub, then you need to run os-prober. At this current stage you've not said what "for some reason" is, so who knows.
ive ran os prober
i tried to run it in grub cli but it said no command found
have you enabled it in /etc/default/grub
Then you used it
That doesn't mean that it worked, and that doesn't mean that it was succesful in detecting windows, among other things.
ok im in that directory what do i do

oh eait
its commented
ok i enabled os prober... i think
let me reboot
it didnt add any new entries
I'm glad the complete complete documentation on the arch wiki was able to help you identify the problem when you searched it and discovered the detailed in there. Including the bit about running os-prober after enabling it in grub.
well i did the thingies and grub mkconfig said it detected wbm
but
there are no new entjres in grub
wait
hold up
it worksss
ok
Yea. The documentation even mentioned that if you get the warning you should uncomment the line, and the error message said it wouldn't be used
