Hello, i installed nvidia most recent driver my GTX 1660 TI portable (i'm on laptop) i have also a intel graphic coprocessor with my core I7 and zorin does not use my GTX. I think i need to run Nvidia X server to choose wich gpu i want to use but the ui is'nt loading. I tried to lauch x server from the terminal and it does the same problem but i see one error : Nvidia d4iver not loaded and i think its because of secureboot block proprietary driver to load. Its difficult form.me to disable secureboot(i think it can mark other problems and maybe security issues) is it possible to load the driver with a comand or something else?

Zorin - Nvidia GPU driver not loaded
I barely understand what you're trying to ask, but mode setting is a thing but i don't understand what you're saying about secure boot
the master question is** how to load a driver in linux** (maybe with a command line in the terminal)
for secure boot, zorin forum tell me to deactivate secure boot if the gpu is not detected. >> is it possible that secure boot block a driver to load and can i securely deactivate secure boot?
i tried this but the gpu is not detected, then i tried to deactivate secure boot and when restarting, the OS won't load
https://help.zorin.com/docs/hardware/activate-nvidia-drivers/?#if-the-nvidia-graphics-drivers-are-still-not-activated
Here is an attempt to enter nvidia settings to modify wich gpu i want to use
i don't understand everything here but i see the driver is not loaded and a second error
"Driver" is too generic a term, and dependent on what the driver is. There are, for example, drivers that exist purely as applications at runtime, drivers that are built into the kernel, and drivers that are loaded as kernel modules.
If you are asking specifically about the nvidia driver then "loading" the nvidia driver is likely down to the modesetting thing I mentioned before. Namely adding nvidia_drm.modeset=1 to the kernel parameters on boot.
If secure boot is in the equation however, the answer is simply to disable it. "Securely deactivating secure boot" I think misses the point of secure boot and what/how it protects your system. Secure boot ensures that only trusted operating systems are loaded onto a device by checking the signature of the booted operating system against signatures stored within the bios. That list of "trusted" operating systems is limited, and often will only include windows. Occasionally some others, but I doubt Zorin will be among those.
tl;dr just disable secure boot, it likely won't work for you on Linux without additional effort on your part anyways. You would have to add signatures yourself, and potentially self-sign which borderline defeats the purpose.
ok thanks i'm novice on linux and IT so i'm sorry if i have fear to disable secure boot now i understand what it does.
Its fine to disable secure boot, relax.
Once secure boot is disabled, install proprietary nvidia drivers
and if necessary, blacklist nouveau drivers (the open-source nvidia drivers)
yes but the problem is not solved, i think its possible that my asus laptop have functions to manage performances when i'm on sector or on battery and maybe on linux its not used and my gpu is deactivated?
Eh to manage your GPU, you will have to setup optimus manager
Listen, if it is not necessary for you to use Zorin OS, I would suggest you to use PopOS 22.04 instead.
It handles all nvidia related issues out of the box.
Go here https://pop.system76.com/
Go to "DOWNLOAD"
click on "DOWNLOAD 22.04 LTS (NVIDIA)
and install it on your laptop (make sure secureboot is disabled)
is that possible to uninstal zorin ? and also, i installed zorin alongside windows (dualboot) is it a problem, can i instal pop os with dualboot?
Yeah you can install PopOS with dual boot. You will have to wipe the partition of Zorin and install PopOS there
