OS: Mint
Hardware: x570, 5950x, 3080ti
Problem/What Is Happening: lm-sensors doesn't display GPU core temp. I want to display it in a panel with Sensors Monitor, and control fan curves
What you are doing:

  • Installed lm-sensors
  • Ran sensors-detect
  • Ran sensors to see output
  • GPU core temperature doesn't show up
  • No sensor to grab in Sensors monitor, or to control fan speed
  • Temperature shows up in Psensor, and if I run nvidia-smi in the terminal
  • pwmconfig also doesn't show a controllable fan from the gpu

So.. I'd like to be able to detect and use gpu core temperature at a minimum. And more ideally, control gpu fan speed as well. At a minimum, however, I need to control some fan from that data. I have dedicated fans that blow air across my card

novideo/nvidia cards has their own tools for detecting their cards, as well as showing temperatures. lm-sensors may not provide these.

I got all the information I need

Another tool is nvtop

Yeah that shows up just fine

But I'm not sure what, if anything I can do with that. I want the values displayed in the system tray, and use the temp to control fan speeds

What system tray?

What desktop environment are you on?

Like that. CPU temp is listed. I wanted to add GPU to it as well. And control fan speed w/ said temps.

I'm on mint
