nvidia on Linux is a pain. Has always been like that, and it is unlikely to change

Certain applications may prefer proprietary AMDGPU drivers. Things like OpenCL may prefer it, over open sourced variant.
Then there's really ancient ATi/AMD GPU which support for them can be iffy, depending on exactly which one you have.

There's other minor issues here and there even with modern AMD, and outside of OpenCL stuff. I am not terribly familiar with it, but over at Fedora discord does have some members commenting about.
