Or we can just delete silverhawks

silverhawks is an unhealthy band-aid solution for agility and meaningfully reworking agility is the preferable option and something they are going to do as part of the roadmap

Ironmen don't have silverhawks, for example.

#

Silverhawks had a bad enough launch that the CEO unironically wrote a public apology post for its creation

I feel like deleting them all-together is a seperate discussion ^^. This is just about making them more obtainable while they exist already

  1. The "Silverhawk Problem" is Design Avoidance
Silverhawk boots don’t make Agility better; they make Agility invisible.

The Issue: If the best way to train a skill is to pay (via feathers) to ignore it while doing something else, it’s an admission that the skill itself is fundamentally boring or unrewarding.

The Goal: A rework aims to make Agility something you want to do, rather than something you pay to not do.

  1. Restoring the Value of "Active" Gameplay
Currently, Agility is often seen as a barrier to entry for shortcuts or quests.

Meaningful Rewards: A rework, as mentioned in the Roadmap, can introduce mechanics where Agility affects combat movement, stamina regeneration, or provides unique benefits in skilling "bosses" (like Croesus).

Economic Health: Relying on Silverhawks creates a constant gold sink/fountain through feathers that is disconnected from the actual Agility skill nodes.

  1. Integrating Agility into the Modern "Movement Meta"
RuneScape 3 has evolved with Surge, Escape, and Dive. Agility training hasn't.

The Vision: A reworked Agility could incorporate these movement abilities into training circuits (like the Anachronia course, but expanded).

Utility: Instead of just "passive XP," the skill could unlock permanent movement buffs or "Ability Upgrades" that are earned through mastery, not bought with feathers.

  1. Future-Proofing the Game
If Jagex simply makes Silverhawk Boots easier to get, they are doubling down on a 10-year-old mechanic that bypasses content.

The Roadmap: By including Agility in the roadmap, Jagex is signaling that they want to fix the root cause (the tedious nature of laps) rather than just making the "skip button" more accessible.

@stone wagon If Jagex's goal were truly to remove the boots, they wouldn't have introduced them to the Minigame Shop in exchange for Thaler. As for Ironmen, the mode is intended to be difficult; otherwise, it wouldn't be offered as a specific choice at the start of the game.

We have good reason to believe this time next year the boots don't exist

#

Also did you ask an AI to respond.

#

Point 1) isn't even an admission about the skill. You could implement "skill boot" for any skill and people would flock to and use it by default, because its zero time investment levelling as you now get skill up as a byproduct by doing other things. This would happen regardless of the skill quality.

Agility has absolutely issues, but silverhawks is not evidence for that or a good solution.

#

The reason I believe jagex' true goal is to either remove silverhawks or fundamentally change it, is because silverhawk feathers is explicitly on the potential deletion list for 1st of january 2027

Some of these items are already gone (aura refresh, for example)
