#Jagex, can we get a Summoning Pouch? Something to hold our charms and soul shards?

We have pouches for herbs, runes, and even gem bags for summoning... I think it's time we get a QoL feature like this to clean up inventories during slaying or summoning training.

Cheers!

Seems unnecessary, we already have drop cleaners for charms (though I think the spirit gem bag should perhaps be made more accessible).

I just feed spirit gems to the Imp, they aren’t worth combining up (granted I’m a TH era main with free spirit onyxes)

#

But if spirit gem drops were buffed to be actually worth it I might consider looking into them

peak prism

How is this unnecessary? The charming imp takes the charms and deletes them. I'm proposing a pouch should be created to allow us to store the charms into for those who are collecting them for summoning.

#

So that my inventory during slayer doesn't look like this.

The spirit gem bag could get an upgrade where it stores charms, with a retrofitted functionality added to automatically store picked up gems inside of your spirit gem bag.

you shouldn't just automatically loot everything everywhere because 28 slots is a massive inventory size

#

there is a slight problem in that manually looting stuff is a bit annoying, but this is a completely solved problem in respect of charms because the charming imp lets you make that choice automatically. it wouldn't be good to convert that to 'oh, actually let's just have all of it all the time'

I'm not disputing that you would prefer to keep them, I am saying that situations requiring player choice are good, and having your inventory size be a meaningful limitation on what you can loot is good and we shouldn't simplify that

When I was earlier in the game I would have agreed that this is a good idea but now I have ended up with more charms than I can ever use. Charming imp has been very helpful and I just pick up charms from spirit implings when they go by and random innocent people when I accidentally misclick and kill them. I definitely see the appeal but I don’t think it would actually be necessary, especially once the charming imp has been unlocked

#

The charming imp is great because it gives you a small amount of summoning xp in exchange for the charms. Idk if someone has done the maths on how it compares to using the charms, but it’s definitely not just throwing them away.

#

Have you got the enhanced yaktwee stick yet? It’s a bit of a grind (ha ha isn’t everything in this game) but it’s a handy item and you get a good amount of charms in the process

and even then; realistically majority of the time those pouches also wouldn't be used as often as you'd think, majority of the time due to bank space, and time spent converting the pouches they often get ignored by majority of Ironmen aswell.

#

ends up resulting in just utilizing the blue charm 99.9% of the time, where as you may have a rare 1 off case scenario requiring an alternative, likely being a green charm that is easy and quick to obtain for anything nessessary after level 18 Summoning.

#

oh correction; I just happened to look, there is legitimately 1 Summoning pouch you'd ever use Crimson for, and 0 you'd use Gold for, and green I guess depends how badly you want to lose out on bank space honestly as an iron and micro manage, can say from experience though; I just collected whenever i intended to need using them, because they were extremely common and easy to come by from places such as the Abyss in raid succession to handle multiple hours of use within only minutes of obtaining.

The only charm worth collecting long term was realistically the blue charm.
crimson was only ever useful for Talon Beasts if you were above 77 Summoning and below 87 Summoning.
Blue realistically is useful 45+ Summoning, so realistically save the charms until then.

So I got bored and calculated how many charms you need for 99 summoning ok ironman, based on this https://runescape.wiki/w/Ironman_Mode/Strategies/Summoning

RuneScape Wiki

Summoning is a members-only skill (though free-to-play players can train the skill up to level 5) that focuses on summoning familiars from the Spirit Plane by creating and using summoning pouches. Each familiar has a unique ability that requires a Summoning scroll, made from a corresponding pouch, to use. Familiars have a wide variety of uses, f...

1270 gold charms
3872 green charms
15881 crimson charms
8156 blue charms

#

curious what method of Crimson charms you thought of calculating into an Ironman leveling?

#

because it'd be strictly based on XP and 0 usefulness if creating those pouches.

mental ridge
#

I took the first suggested method from each level bracket

#

So that it didn’t take forever to do a whole “this many of this one or you can do this many of this other one”

sudden hatch
#

Yeah realistically theres quiet a few on that list that as an Iron I would do better alternatives that are faster, and easier, and more useful.

mental ridge
#

Obviously this guide is purely around levelling effectively and not about making the useful pouches and it doesn’t account for quest xp, but it’s a good rough estimate

sudden hatch
#

since that guide was made; its been made tremendously easier to aquire blue charms too.

#

I wouldn't even say its based on leveling effectively either based on XP

#

it looks more towards main Account GP spent.

#

as there is quiet a few times it selects a non optimal XP method for a cheaper alternative via G.E prices. (which do not effect ironmen)

mental ridge
#

Ok that’s weird considering that it’s an iron specific guide

sudden hatch
#

Yeah i noticed that too. 😕

mental ridge
#

Someone should make a new post here asking them to update that guide

sudden hatch
#

ahh I can somewhat understand why; I was looking further into it; its only appearing to be G.E price based because of item aquirement for the Tertiary ingredient, which i guess some of these are less somewhat annoying to obtain at specific stages.

mental ridge
#

But it does show that you don’t need to hoard every single charm. And the page on the charming imp recommends giving the imp anything other than blue and elder charms

sudden hatch
#

what appears to be steering that guide isn't XP its primarily just the Tertiary ingredient focusing the guide suggestion.

mental ridge
#

So that’s down to two slots used, one if you toolbelt the imp

sudden hatch
#

which I guess it depends on the type of player, if your more of an AFK / Shop Buy Limit type player, then sure this method is likely your best.

#

but if you are playing Ironman for the enjoyment of Ironman, you'll likely choose better options.

#

yeah

#

Blue and Elder are your ideal to keep; and Elder id recommend not farming unless you specifically need to make Nihils.

#

as again; save the bank space, more valuable anyways.

#

plus Elder Charms are guarenteed; so no reason to hoard them; only go grab a few anytime you plan to farm something for a bit. since the Nihils last so long its perfect to do this 😛

#

which youll likely have to do anyhow for the Tertiary ingredient of the specific nihil anyhow.

#

plus with the new methods of obtaining blue charms, its stupid fast to aquire a ton now.

Ran out of maths energy but I’ve collected everything necessary to calculate how many charms you get from upgrading the yaktwee stick. My very rough estimate is maybe 3 hours to comp so that’s 3 times the hourly rate to get total charm slices, then you need 5 to make a charm so divide the amount of slices in 3 hours by around 4.5 to allow for mystic slices

#

Man I sure know how to bring a conversation completely off topic
