As an explorer of runescape houses and buildings i would of liked to be able to sit in some of the chairs in the houses and can only find that this is possible on the bank benches. Especially cool would be the rocking chairs by the fires and the ones externally on the terraces, especially cool would be the two chairs with the chess board. im not a programmer so i have no idea how difficult it is to make this happen but i feel would be a pretty cool emersive addition.
You bring up a good point, many of us are 99 bench-sitting and cant even sit in a chair? This madness must stop.
You're 99 bench-sitting. Not 99 chair-sitting. smh.
(I jest, it would be very cool!)
Bench is just 2H chair? Lols
š I think you're onto something. My mistake!
Still donāt have 2H necro and still donāt have dual wielding chairs š
Wait till you hear about throwing chairs
The ancient prophecyā¦
Thats ok, maybe weāll get chair and stool instead of dualwield
What if: barrel in a bench
Can we dualwield Jmods please? Why make ingots on an anvil when you can use an Anvil to make ingots?
Suggestion: Can the āSpirit communionā and āSpirit plane connectionā buffs be geofenced or something? Theyāre just permantly sitting on the buff bar now
The havenhythe obelisk doesn't give golden summoning rocks, I did 800 pouches and nothing
Do clockwork box traps check multiple times for the 1/1500 DR of unchecked chins? (Assuming multiple were caught)
On the topic of filling out havenhythe a bit.
Perhaps the player could construct a bloodweed only herb patch near the sanguine crawler as an unlockable of sort.
That would probably be something better left as a higher lvl unlock for part two
I get the feeling we are going to get another bloodweed patch in the east. Maybe another when the vampyrium arrives
Was no mention that soul reaper resets would get nerfed into shit and be useless, had spent years saving these up and had no idea on March the 16th they would be fucked after spending tons of money to acquire them
why did you think the mtx item, that is going to be removed, whose entire value proposition depended on the content being daily, would still retain that value when the content wasn't daily or that they would bend over backwards to make sure it would retain good value?
I agree that a reaper reset being worth 30+ reaper points is better than 30 slayer points but Iām not going to whine about it š
Good
That could be a good reward for area tasks
What's with the dead looking trees? They look out of place with that brown color. A little bit of green sprinkled in there would be nice and you could still tell between the oaks and trees. (btw oaks are trees too š
To the south you have both oaks and trees but the trees look healthy. Not sure why the ones to the north had their color changed. Maybe they are Dead wood š
quick question
how does skeka's wand work with clockwork traps?
I'd suggest putting that in the bug report
This thread is about Havenhythe specifically
I'm pretty sure it's not a bug and they made changes to trees at the same time as the update
I hope someone can help you with your question. I don't have one so I'd be intrested in the answer as well
The new eternal mage tree spot feels entirely decorative
- You have nowhere to turn in your branches
- The westernmost tree has one of its corners blocked off such that you have to run all around the tree for Lumberjack's intuition, which is hardly enough time to get the quick reflexes bonus due to the long hike around the tree
- Unlike the original spot, you cannot teleport to this one afaict
- It's closer to a bank, but it's literally faster to teleport to a bank (e.g. max guild, pvm hub, etc.) and teleport back to the trees at the original spot as it is to run to the bank on this spot
- The only upside seems to be that you get 1-2 oaken keys per 330 logs... worth about 5k a peace, i.e. about as much as one log (except that they cannot be stored in the wood box so they are less convenient than logs).
- There's fewer trees there, which isn't a huge problem usually since nobody uses the spot, but it's certainly not an upgrade
- The skybox is significantly different for the three southernmost tile rows of the tree farm, which causes it to constantly change back and forth in a rather distracting manner as you run after Lumberjack's intuition
Feels like it's not better than the original eternal mage tree spot in any real way, while being a real downgrade in several ways... but on the other hand it's treated as a reward that you have to unlock. So what was the point of its inclusion?
I can see your point. At first I thought it was going to be instanced for the player's own use, rather than being shared across all players. šš¼ This would have made it feel more like a reward and since there are fewer trees it would have made since.
what would you do to make it feel more like a reward?
I just said it
Jagex also fixed the floating ladder tops in Lunar isle, but the ladders are still rotated in odd ways.
- Make Dalia take your branches for xp (similar to the other spot)
- Add a teleport to it in nature's sentinel outfit (similar to the other spot)
- fix the corner of one of the trees
- make oaken keys storable in wood box so they don't get in your way
This way it doesn't have any obvious major downsides compared to the original spot, but provides at least one benefit (albeit small one) of getting the keys. Could also do something small to compensate for the lower number of trees, such as faster respawn and recover time (it is supposed to be extra fertile soil after all)
Maybe completing the area tasks could have some rewards in that sort of area? Increased drop rate of the key and faster regrow time are good rewards that can be scaled when you comp the different tiers of task
The trees around Memorial to Guthix had their textures updated AND are now choppable.
Would be cool if we could reconstruct the building as an overworld construction project and have it serve as a divination guild of sorts
Shh! Youre gonna give away the big secret update for 2030
Petition to make Ivar shut up when hunting Volatile Chins, or whenever I walk past the hill
Whassamatta, human?
Use protect from emotional damage
The Group Ironman Isle got some tweeks unintentionally this update.
The campfire is larger and has a map icon. There are some various adjustments to various objects across the area.
I shall sign this petition
Ivar audio and dialogue in chatbox should only be played when youāre in that hill giant area
Oh did they end up doing something about the out of sync audio and chat box dialogue or did that just turn out to be my ancient phone struggling to keep up?
bgh2 probably warrants a nerf
i just got to 106 for the kebbit and im clocking over 2m xp/hr with relatively basic gear (no hypnowand or anything). The gp is really good but thats based on the currently high prices of the hide and meat.
At 110 with outfit, avatar, enhanced stick, hypnowand, urns + enhancer, its possible to reach over 4m xp/hr.
While this is active gameplay, its also quite forgiving, as i managed to reach those kph rates with 30 minutes of practice, and its quite forgiving to get my current kill times
I would tone down the kebbit numbers only to start since its much easier than the chin. The top end could be hit with maybe a 25% nerf to xp rates, reducing it to 3m/hr with all the gear, and at 106 with basic gear it would be reduced to 1.5m xp/hr
Did a full hour low effort test while watching videos on the side, and despite failing 5 kills at fairly high progress in the kill, wasting time and resources, as well as just generally inefficient movement, i still got 28 kills in an hour. Thats still 1.76m xp/hr base. If we bring it up to 32 which woulda been doable if i didnt fail kills, thats 1.92m xp/hr base.
Maybe take avatar out of the equation since its not available to ironman? I know its "only" 6% but nerfing it based on a rate not everyone has available adds up quick lol
i've been trying to get the tellervo's net, did about 300-500 trees so far now. I've got the lantern within a few minutes. Net not so much... I've seen a few people with the same, early lantern but no net for hours. Everyone who did have the net had it super quickly, feels like I'm missing something..
Do we know if there are prerequisites to getting the net?
There is no req that anyone's aware of, and I have 2 nets no lantern
it's maddening
I got the net first in like 20-25 minutes and it took like an hour for the lantern
It all comes down to rng in the end. Like how I once lost a coin toss 10 times in a row
Good point, which is why my 1h test used just base xp rates, before avatar, outfit, urns, etc.
I hope when they expand and add the new dig sight they add craftable Archaeology urns.
teleporting what, more dirt? broken bits of pottery? bone shards?
besides, those would only be usable while excavating
restoring artefacts would be too op for urns
I personally love the idea of filling urns with rare antique dirt
When you count the time it takes to get the artifacts, it balances out i bet. Not that i care, its just that the skill exp rates are based around both methods existing, getting exp is bursts.
I'll take literally anything to improve arch xp rates. I kinda hate urns as a design concept but if that's what jagex does to make the skill less ass then I'll take it.
Arch exp rates are already high
I seem to have this icon on my buff bar permanently since having done some of the new summoning a couple of days ago. Can it be given a timer to be removed or something?
Oh yeah and Iāve been noticing that the bloodlust icon from melee sticks around for ages? Is that intentional? Tbh I still havenāt figured out how it works I just let revo do all the work
yah, even when you switch to a different combat style
The way you get rid of that icon is make 45 more pouches
when you have 4 or more, flurry, whirlwind, and assault do more damage. You're supposed to hold off on them until you have enough bloodlust
update: I made 45 more pouches
This update modified so many areas in odd ways. Like random plants were removed/adjusted.
Trees were the biggest ones with them reverting to their old functionality but still using the same textures. It's weird seeing more brown leafed trees though.
Good to know, thanks. Seems like thereās definitely no reason for them to stick around outside of combat then
wait did i say bhg2 was 4m xp/hr? i forgot brawlers exist, its actually far more and they dont get used up quickly if you have them
with brawlers you can clock over 6m xp/hr
The numbers may be high, but the only thing BGH2 has is xp.
All of the drops barring some of the herblore stuff is worthless at the level you unlock BGH2.
In fact, you would probably spend over 110 Hunter at BGH1 if you tried for every single unique drop at tier 3 dinos.
Matters less if you aren't an Iron, but to Irons, most of us have to spend months at BGH1 for the animals alone.
im just saying the xp is a little overtuned, thats seperate from the loot. Whirlygigs were considered too good and nerfed, and now we get a method that can reach over 6m xp/hr, which blows them out of the water.
as for getting animals, ive gotten quite a lot from dream of iaia, though its rng which ones you get, and theres also the eggsperimental firemaking stuff which can get you them, so its not locked to BGH1
We are talking about a skilling method that is basically end tier and awards garbage other than xp, completely different things
Nobody was doing high end whirlygigs for the loot, and they capped out at under 2m xp/hr. Thats the comparison im making.
Powder of Burials and Powder of Penance beg to differ
People were not doing the plain whirlygig strat chaining higher level ones for powder of burials. They only got plain shells from that. Whirlygigs do drop useful items in general, but so does bgh2 (materials for mw ranged)
Masterwork Ranged is a joke set, no one in their right mind uses it unless they seriously don't wanna do the Vorkath Grind
I know several people who do use it very successfully. Is it worse than edraco? Sure, I wont argue that. Is it a joke set? If people are getting gm timers using it with range camp i dont think its a joke. Besides the comparison is still not based on loot, im comparing a method that offers basically no loot (whirlgigs using first catch plain then chaining speedy) which was nerfed for being "too good" (and also basically bug abuse) to the current bgh2 method which gives over triple the xp, at lower levels of effort.
It uses material that jagex long ago nerfed into the ground, glorious bars despite not being a metal set of armour and nex farming while also requiring materials that could be used to train Crafting on top of meat which is also bait for the other BGH2 mobs.
On top of having the generic Masterwork set effect which basically does next to nothing for ranged.
Sure it works with Equilibrium Perk if you don't have Dracolich, but as a whole the set is garbage for the effort required to obtain it
Oh, and also a lot of time spent at Ports if you haven't already maxed out your resource stockpiles.
Im not here to argue the usefulness or lackthereof of mw range armour. Im saying that even if it gave literally no loot whatsoever, the kebbit at bgh2 gives an unreasonable amount of xp and i am calling for it to be nerfed
Then why bring it up?
BGH2 is XP for the sake of XP, don't say it needs nerfing if the only point of it existing is for xp
Besides, BGH2 is a lot more involved, so it deserves the xp.
BGH1 is a lot easier, but also has fantastic loot
Kebbit at bgh2 is way easier in my books
Kebbit yes, but in order to do kebbits you need to do Chinchompas, and even with the buffs Chinchompas are still horrible and neither of them have good enough loot to warrant taking a hit to xp.
If the loot was made drastically better then sure, nerf it into oblivion.
But until it has better loot or unique loot then it's only for the sake of xp
Because its too much xp. Would you be okay if it gave 100m xp in an hour?
Don't be ridiculous.
So what number of xp/hr is too much for you? Because 6m/hr is too much in my books
Considering the eventual 120 Hunter, 6m with brawlers is fine.
You are either shooting for max level, Hunting for Apex Hides or going for your Volatile Chinchompa.
It exists purely for the sake of xp, nothing more
I think 6m is high efficiency - i mean sure i could get more kills an hour but idk about that being low effort mode, i was getting 2m/hr in "low effort mode"
Then you're welcome to disagree but i think a method that gives 6m/hr (with brawlers and urns yes) is too much at 110. It outpaces almost every other methods in the game. Combat is slower. Herblore at the fastest methods is slower
I get over 3m xp/hr at the 106 kebbit with brawlers, and im only getting roughly 30kph
If you wanna be sweaty enough to earn those xp rates, you deserve those xp rates
Im second monitoring it to get those rates
? š¤£
Effort deserves to be rewarded
The issue is also that it takes basically no effort
If you are getting those rates you are putting in more effort than most.
Might I ask, what level is your hunter now?

108, i did 2 hours and felt like it was abusive and stopped
Riiight
At least as an ironman i dont feel its worth doing other than the xp or the materials for the masterwork gear, im 115, like 1m off 115 before the update and already back at bgh1 simply cause it gives better materials and unique drops
from an ironman perspective sure, since you also need to do the chins and theres stuff at bgh1 you want so xp doesnt matter at all. But for mains its too much, since you just buy chin meat and go ham
Xp matters more for us seeing as though we can't just buy our skills
But if the choices were less xp and better loot or worse loot and better xp, I'd choose loot, Ala BGH1
I already got everything from bgh1 i need with almost 3k kc and counting, its simply just better in terms of return on time put into it

"abusive" ....it's not like you're exploiting a bug...it's literally playing the game.
In the most painfully efficient fashion possible no less
There are absolutely bugs tho, like the ability to reset the aggro, which I also tried not to use but is easy to do accidentally. Besides, it doesn't need to be a bug to feel abusive. See for example the release day 120 thieving updates pickpocketing rates being tuned too high and warranting a nerf. People called that early bird bonus but I also heard the "abuse early abuse often" mantra recited about it.
A lot of things the "Early Bird Bonus" mantra applies to are things so painful that it feels rewarding to actually partake early rather than waiting for a 'fix'
I don't know how to tell you this....but pickpocketing was low effort with high rewards and high exp....bgh2 is literally just high exp. What is the obsession with people wanting everything nerfed? I don't want to train a skill to 120/110 at 500k xp/hr especially when said training methods is ENDGAME
Or the combat beta melee balance allowing people to smash their records and timer CAs before getting nerfed and still ending up being stronger than pre-update. Heard people saying to abuse the power of melee before it got nerfed then too.
What is the obsession of people wanting everything handed to them on a golden platter for no effort
In so sorry that you think 106 hunter is golden platter with no effort. Time for you to play a different game. Not to mention it isn't an afk method either.
That does not apply to this situation at the moment Lego, seeing as though the player in question is achieving maximum possible XPH by being insanely active and managing everything near perfectly
Once again I am not being insanely active
If you are achieving those xp rates you sure are.
Unless you are complaining for the sake of others rather than yourself, which renders your complaint moot
My xp rates are 3m/hr, max xp rates are over 6m/hr
With brawlers, if you aren't using brawlers kudos to you, but you are still upper tiering the activity, and to say otherwise is just plain lying
Without brawlers its still over 2m xp/hr at 106
So?
The drops are terrible and it is even more active than BGH1, players interacting with BGH2 and aiming for peak efficiency deserve those kinds of rate at 106/108
If the xp rates weren't as good as they are, BGH2 would be the definition on DoA content
I'm not going to keep repeating myself, you're welcome to disagree all you want. To summarize: I think kebbits have overtuned xp rates for an activity that is fairly simple, not to mention bugs that make it nigh impossible to fail which I am not going to describe how to recreate here. The rewards are desirable, if not bis, and current profit rates for mains can easily pull over 50m/hr still at 106 (though I acknowledge this is not likely to remain the case long term).
I think that xp rates of over 6m/hr with brawlers (which last extremely long due to the single xp drop nature of the activity) at 110 is too high to be healthy for the game. I have anecdotal evidence of pulling over 3m xp/hr with brawlers at 106 while watching a movie simultaneously. I proposed nerfing the base xp of kebbits by 25% to bring it more in line with the top end methods of other skills.
I will say no more on the topic. I would appreciate not being pinged about this further.
Using a second monitor to watch a movie at the same time doesn't make the effort invested by you in that activity any less important.
Unless you were watching something subtitled and only watched the movie in question, but in that case I'd say you were lying about your rates or botting.
But for the effort invested in either Kebbits or Chinchompas on top of the effort you invested to reach that level in the first place you deserve that XP.
Don't like it?
Don't do it.
But at the same time, don't complain about XP rates you are well within your right to earn just because you personally thing it's OP.
Shoot yourself in the foot, not others.
A lot of the xp rates at the top level should be tuned down some
I'd say rates like agility are closer to "good" then stuff like hunter and thieving
Why? At top level experience becomes more important, given how past 108 or so, you expect 6+m per level.
And Hunter is rewarding your effort and dedication.
The thieving nerf was warranted given the fact it was entirely AFK, and other than XP rates and several unlocks, none of which are near end level, agility is a worthless skill that does not value time invested
For thieving i was more referring to safecracking and heists also being to good for the "effort and dedication". imo all the "fast skills" should be lowered down some instead of the "slow skills" being buffed to the moon.
Are you joking? You want to train agility to a potential 110 or 120 with the current rates?
Not what i said š¤·āāļø
Oh, Safecracking as good xp but terrible loot, and only good money for lower level Irons, Heists are insanely active and Heist 1 has an issue with the Dead Guards pickpocket rate being terrible even at max with BiS gear.
Agility needs rewards tied to it other than totems, hypnowand and surge/escape codex to be worth time invested, or the xp needs to be MUCH higher
Then what are you saying
Game 2 easy?
That agility rates are closer to what i'd consider good/fair rates then stuff like thieving/hunter and whatever else gives millions of xp/h
Given how much of a slog 99 agility was I think the rates are terrible, and forcing Wildy Skull for decent xp rates pre 85 is horrendous
So the problem is not the xp rates, but the disparity of xp rates between different skills?
Like, either all skills should have million xp/hr rates or none of them should?
Are we factoring in that agility doesnāt go past lvl 99? Lvl 99 rates vs lvl 120 rates are supposed to be different
Woe be us when 110/120 Agility goes up for discussion
None of them should be millions xp/h. And yes i was factoring in that fact since hunter and thieving as examples were both already past that point before their level caps increased
Effort invested should be rewarded, if you are being lazy you won't obtain those rates, which is the point of this discussion
It should be rewarded. But not as much as some things currently do
To be fair, hunter is currently the only one having this issue, but in exchange all the rewards other than XP are garbage.
If Jagex improves loot quality/quantity then I will be all for an xp nerf, but until then, BGH2 is XP for the sake of XP, and should remain unchanged until a later date when loot is adjusted, if it gets adjusted
It's okay for some skills to be faster than others. Not everything needs to be like agility. To let skills be an insane grind just for the sake of it isn't fun either
Making them as fast as they've been starting to be for the sake of catering to people that don't want to skill isn't fun either
Some people don't have the time to invest in unrewarding activities that offer chump xp.
Would you punish them because you have more time to play than they?
Once again, this is endgame content. It's not the entire skill
Nobody is being punished. Everyone has the same rates for what they do š¤·āāļø
By suggesting it you mean that everyone should suffer equally regardless of skill investment
Complainer is complaining that for doing sweaty work in an encounter the xp is massive.
And I say if you are being that efficient with the encounters, you deserve that xp
You deserve more xp then people not doign the sweaty work. But currently the sweaty work is rewarded too much š¤·āāļø
I don't think so š¤·
Not for skills like hunter, if you put in the work you should get higher xp.
If it was afkable then sure, nerf away, but the amount of effort needed for both BGH encounters is vastly higher than BGH1, and the loot is garbage
Wanting everything as painfully slow as agility is crazy
I agree
I don't think any skill needs xp rates in excess of 2m per hour.
1m / hour is already overly generous imo
Yep Yep
So you guys are wanting osrs xp rates? š¤ You do realise a lot of things are click intensive too?
Pretty sure none of us said that š¤·āāļø
Theres a better balance to find that's between agility > thieving rates. Both are bad in their own ways
Basically if it takes 1 week to cap xp, it's too fast
Agilities main problem being that the skill has 0 reward to it, Not that it's slower then other skills
Millions of hunter XP an hour from shooting fish in a barrel (how laughably easy kebbits are) doesn't feel like it should qualify as "super duper hard it deserves excessive XP"
agility is basically sensible for a 99 skill post-85
I would hope for xp increases as its cap gets raised, whereas like... hunter didn't really need xp increases
Do you all know if they plan on making it to where Havenhythe's BGH awards you hunter marks? Can't stand anorachnia BGH but find the havenhythe one far more enjoyable and figured it be a more enjoyable way to get the marks. Until I got back to dude to redeem them only to find out that you do not earn hunter marks despite it literally being big game hunter.
I very much doubt it
Since it doesnt interact with bgh1 in any way, theres no reason to
anyone know why Havensilver doesn't work on vyrewatch, its supposed to be the most pure silver against vamps
Hunterās marks are Anachronia hunter currently, not bgh currency. You can get them from other hunter activities on the island. If youāre finding the grind for them annoying, just bring some protean traps over there next DXP and catch some jadinkos
Oh and I almost forgot, I wrote out one of my ideas for the next part of havenhythe https://discord.com/channels/303835144073248770/1346460743725351006
they still have that mind-reading thing, which blisterwood is able to disrupt somehow
Funā¦
I imagine they just didnāt expect anyone would use them against the good old fashioned vyres
The Sanguine Curse is also lore-wise distinct from Vyre-ness, although Iām not sure of every exact difference.
I know that being a vyre can be cured, while Sanguine can be resisted, and Vyres often maintain their sanity while the Sanguine drives you mad.
from my limited understanding, vampyrism is a fundamental alteration of your body via haemalchemy; it is not cured so much as reversed
the Sanguine is more of a magical, possibly artificial disease that infects the body and warps the mind
Theyāre definitely different things, but it does make sense for them both to be susceptible to the same weapons
again, no it doesn't, because they are vulnerable to different things for different reasons
Even if they were, vyres arnt vulnerable to normal silver weapons anyway, as people have likely pointed out
Unless they're severely starved / a juvinate
From what I read, and what I suspect from OSRS, the Sanguine is a blight both on Runescape, and in Vampyrium, made by House Ghirazai to pump up the aggression and fierceness of all it touches. In the Taste of Hope, written by Drakan and accessed during Lord of Vampyrium, they are purely hunters, known for fighting, and feeding, on only the strongest quarry.
Also, in OSRS, the Strangler is known to also infect vyres, they are not immune from its touch. Looking at the Dreadhog, I wonder if the Sanguine is similar in that it doesnt even go away with death: It simply takes over.
interesting
I meant more like the sanguine possibly being affected by blisterwood, and just the weaker vampyres that are already vulnerable to silver being affected by havensilver. Probably wasnāt very clear though, sorry
Iāve had an idea. What if as part of the sanguine questline, we unlock a new fighting style. Not a new combat style like necro, but a new way of fighting with melee, similar to the different spellbooks for magic. Iām thinking it could deal less damage upfront but it adds ābleedā stacks to the enemy which either deal damage over time or make your attacks do more damage, maybe a bit of both. Attacking an enemy with bleed stacks also heals you a small amount. This would be impractical for fighting lots of enemies, but great for fighting just one big guy. In order to fight the sanguine, you have to fight like a vampyre.
Elaboration on my thoughts about vampyre and sanguine vulnerability to havensilver: So the stronger ones arenāt vulnerable to silver on its own but when we combined with other things to make it stronger (like with the ivandis flail) it does seem to hurt them. So a havensilver weapon on its own would probably be a little less effective than the blessed silver sickle against juvinates and weaker vampyres, but better than just standard silver. If the havensilver were blessed, it would be better than blessed silver against weaker vyres but still not good enough to hit the powerful guys. If we make havensilvthril and bless it, that would probably hit the vyrewatch. And if we enhance blisterwood with it (maybe a bow that shoots blisterwood arrows with blessed havensilvthral heads), then we might have something really good.
So vampyres are vulnerable to havensilver in the same ways that they are to normal silver, but in those instances havensilver is just slightly more pure and slightly more powerful. It doesnāt mean that plain old havensilver weapons should hurt the powerful vyres, same as plain normal silver doesnāt.
And another thought: The flower Anya has is a āpoisonā to both vyres and the sanguine, or at least itās something that the sanguine will avoid if you have it on you. We could probably make a vyre repellent out of it. And if we coated a havensilver blade with it, that must make it slightly more effective against weak vampyres. I suspect that if we upgraded the sunspear with havensilver then it would be even more powerful against the vyres.
I hope all that clears stuff up rather than raising more questions
this was basically one of the ideas for whips or claws, where all direct damage deals only 75%, but it deals 45% damage as a DOT effect instead
Huh I didnāt know that
You probably should read up the lore on vyres, because its not strength that even matters, its the unpredictable nature of the weapon that allows it to hit in the firstplace.
That doesnt explain sunspear though
I dont really see the need for this new thing to even work on vyres though. Vyres are completely solved by items in the questline that unlocks them. We dont need power creep to do more damage, and dont really need extra options that are the same but different either.
Part of the sunspear's effectiveness ties into the material it's made of: blisterwood.
According to Vanescula:
Furthermore, it is continuously moving and growing; its very wood is alive and writhing. This makes it very... unpredictable.
Also something something blessed by Eferitay which is just Deus Ex Machina if you ask me
Yeah.. i do feel like they are done kinda poorly mechanically in that regard, but it is what it is. Thats the onl factor really.
Thought i sent 2 messages there, probably makes less sense. But yeah, id have had to relook that up, id forgotten. Its just so weirdly dont and doesnt make a whole lot of sense, since its just lore reasons with no mechanical difference other than use correct weapon.
Iām using strength as a general term to basically mean how hard it is to hit and defeat them. The āweakerā ones ability to sense and avoid attacks is less well developed than the āstrongerā ones, but I figured that people would know what I was talking about without me having to explain all this. You do have to agree that a vyrewatch is overall more powerful than a juvinate though
I need to start being more specific with this stuff
Yeah I thought that blisterwood had some magic that disrupted their foresight and other special features that meant it you could actually get a hit in
it has nothing to do with 'power' though. the ability either exists or it doesnt. and either way, it doesnt matter. thematically, it doesnt make sense other than 'vampires should all die to same thing' even though vyres arnt the same thing anyways, and mechanically it makes less sense making an entire quest line that builds up to that less relevant due to new thing
Thatās not at all what Iām trying to say
Surely you can see that itās much easier for everyone involved to refer to the ability to predict and avoid attacks as just āpowerā or āstrengthā?
But then again, Iām not claiming to be an expert in this.
tbf this is a weird thing to try and fight technically correct on, and not at all relevant.
Iām just offering my interpretation of the lore (but apparently in a confusingly worded way). I donāt want to get into any arguments about specifics. If you have a different interpretation of how it works, weāre all welcome to share our thoughts
Would be funny if they allowed us to turn a Havensilver Greatsword into a flail like the Ivandis Flail
Would the sword be the stick part of the flail or the hitty part of the flail?
Oh Iāve got an idea, what if we get like this flail base thing and we can attach just about anything to the end of it
Iād definitely make a potato flail
I guess if we used the greatsword, it would be the stick part for whatever we attached to it. If we were to use one of the longswords, then I guess that could be the part that flailed around. Either of these ways would be pretty funny.
from the wiki
"Blisterwood is harmful to vampyres, much like silver and silvthril. Blisterwood logs, even when cut from the tree and fletched, constantly shift, giving them the unpredictability needed to bypass vampyre's innate prediction ability. As such, blisterwood weaponry are effective weapons against vampyres to a greater degree than the ivandis flail."
So its less magic that disrupts foresight and more fluid material characteristics that vampyres can't predict.
That explanation has never made a lot of sense to me. Ignoring how itās still moving after being cut and made into a weapon, it must be moving a fair bit for the vyres not to be able to predict it, which would surely make it much more difficult for the wielder to use effectively. And itās able to have the same effect when itās used for just the handle of the sickle? My interpretation is that the power of blisterwood lies partially in the movement but thereās also magic that causes the vyres to see the blisterwood weapon as being in a different place from where it actually is, hence why theyāre unable to accurately predict where the weapon will end up.
Jagex, we really like Anya as a follower. Can we invite her on walks post quest, pleeeeeeeease? It'll make us more invested in the storyyy!
š
Yknow, people thristy for Anya may want to read 'A Taste of Hope' from the Lord of Vampyrium quest. In it, theres a house called Jovkai that pretty much red flags how Anya acts as her way of procuring her preferred vintage of blood. And there is a good chance that she may be from that house. I know alot of people will willfully choose to ignore this warning, but I would not trust her for a second behind closed doors. Drinking the blood of wild animals is to them what us eating McDonalds is.
Id also like to get your attention to a bar patron she talked to, who was entranced, but ultimately noticed she had a rather hungry look on her face. Do not fool yourself into thinking you can be the lucky one. :P
I don't thnk i can be the lucky one. I know i'll be the lucky one.
Iāve added this to my havenhythe ideas post, hopefully we can make this happen
Thank you C :
Thats reeeally interesting! I'm killing vyres in mory right now, i'll see if they let me check out a copy!
Try your Houses bookshelf if youve done the quest instead ^^
"As vampyric life expectancy was prolonged, so too did our palates become refined, tasting in the blood the essence of a being."
-House Drakan
"They would treat their food with care and tenderness, allowing it to live among them feeling safe and cared for...before mercilessly slaughtering it behind closed doors. I was pleasantly surprised by the bloods from this region, a bittersweet taste with a lingering finish."
-House Jovkai
Hmmm. I hope she's from House Vitur!
not sure what the target was with havenhythe bosses but they aint teaching you much contrast to what entailed in the video
How so?
I still really want to be able to bring her around post-quest. It feels like a punishment for completing it that we can't! The cool parasol reward just doesn't make up for it. :p
from the video they clearly state it was to teach people more how to use combat yet it barely attempts to teach you anything when the boss dies faster then slayer creatures
Fair. The dreadhog did teach me i had to stand back to not take reflect dmg when i was after the combat achievement. I havent tried them on a lower level account but i imagine having less dps would make a difference.
Truth be told it was intended for midgame folks to have at it
Ofcourse but look at the hillgiant... hes suppose to be a boss yet lays no reason to be classed as one
unless this was a pure f2p targeted feature
Well, they did correct the boss to have his unique drops be f2p, so it does feel like that is the goal for him
It also kinda teaches you that some bosses have mechanics that you need to deal with besides just attacking the boss
Yeah, I feel like Ivar should be the first boss you do as a new player. So it's aimed at people with like, level 40 in combats.
Ivar is definetely meant to be the easiest / earliest boss to fight
an easy way to judge the intended combat level of the boss, is the tier or items they drop
so if ivar drops a t35 maul, you can bet the intended audience is a player at 35 combat, and not 138
Yet i doubt many players that level will go there, they'll likely be way overleveled doing other stuff. Not because its hidden or anything, but because it's so easy to level past that.
I do wonder how many new players would have the protection prayers around that level
This is a too runescape-brained take š The instict of most people just picking up a new game is to not immediately go grind for levels, it's to go try out a bunch of stuff. A new player won't even know where to train efficiently. If all the bosses are end game bosses or old bosses with no mechanics, a new player is going to think that that's all RS is, or even if they see the endgame stuff, they may not be motivated to grind the game first to get there. There needs to be something fun to do at all levels. If anything, we need a boss that's even lower tier, like OSRS got Brutus that you can go tackle almost immediately off the tutorial island. What is there to do combat-wise in RS3 to hook new players?
oh, i dont mean it like that. its more, organically, you arnt going to go here before reaching these levels. its not grinding, its just that theres so much game, and you're pointed in other directions.
like doing grand tree, a beginner quest that you're kind of lead to early gets you around 35 combat on its own, and has no combat difficulty
Keep in mind that Grand Tree is a members quest. Ivar is a f2p boss intended to teach combat to new players who have not played a lot yet
only 1 tp a day on summoning necklace is diabolical
I dont think f2p is worth mentioning when it comes to talking about the games structure. Its a bad demo at most that some people only play because they cant spend any money on games.
Not saying it shouldn't exist or whatever, but its not important or a factor when talking about how the game is played in terms of balance.
F2P is a bit of a game on its own, so some thought of balance in there is appropriate.
Not saying it's the place for general game balance, but you can't just throw in some T90 equipment in there for the lolz.
I think itās important for there to be enough engaging content available to f2p players and I definitely would have learned to pvm on Ivar if it had been available back in the day. I think it was a good idea to add a beginner boss that teaches new players a bit about mechanics because that stuff isnāt obvious to people
Also important to note that most players start out fresh as F2P. Telling them to do Fort or Waterfall Quest from the get go is often a no-go because that would require membership, something they may not want to do yet.
So now players can slowly get introduced at bossing in general with Ivar, and if they want a little more or harder before subscribing they can move on to mole / KBD / Chaos. If they did subscribe, then bosses like Silverquill are available.
I wouldn't call chaos harder š just more annoying if you aren't prepared for the unequipping
Also the wilderness is terrifying in early game
Things that kill you are easily avoidable if you're just trying to get to chaos elly
Funny enough 80% of the aggressive wilderness monsters donāt exist in F2P. When I was still a low level member, I would hop to a F2P world whenever I was running through the Wildy to avoid getting melted.
For the love of guthix
Change ivarās zesty af voice acting
His voice fits the stereotype in my head of a football hooligan
don't those sound more aggressive?
Well, all I have to go on is a vague memory which should've come from a movie I watched when I was younger, which also would've been when I learned the term.
Eurotrip?
Maybe?
