Square is doing a massive housing overhaul next patch in late apr/may so I'm hoping that bit gets resolved soon

balmy wing
#

Noooo that's a screenshot from FF14 (entirely different game), it's not Havenhythe at all

raw perch
#

i feel like half of this is true. like the part that itll turn into jagex taking commission on rwt housing sales of in game property

solar cove
#

WoW housing also has guild neighborhoods as well and my friend was embroiled in some funny drama over plot booking lmao

raw perch
#

early adopters might make some rwgps

balmy wing
#

I think everyone-can-have-a-house is never gonna change but how they do neighbourhoods will be interesting.
Like... Player A is friends with Player B and Player C, but player B and C aren't friends, how should the neighbourhood be layed out? Should B and C be able to see each other's houses or will A see B and C but they not see each other etc etc.

solar cove
raw perch
#

b and c would team up and drive out neighbour a ultimately

I'm very excited and hopeful to see what's possible in rs3

Hahah. These links all safe, enjoy 😁
I think one of the big design challenges with the housing in other games vs. RS is the grid tile movement system we have. Like, stuff will maybe naturally be less dense?

Portraits and landscapes would be amazing to see more of! There's so much very good RS art. Gimme some of the GWD concept art or something to shove on a wall!

#

One cool thing I saw in both ffxiv and gw2 housing were houses with player made custom jumping puzzles so a player owned agility course isn't out of the cards either kekw

balmy wing
#

Oooh yeah I've seen some of those. Getting to the roof by means that isn't a staircase 😁
Also one of the other fun things I've seen is hide-and-seek like hiding 15 axolotl plushies around a house for any visitors to try find

vale igloo
#

oh yeah didnt mention this before but I was definitely thinking about it, that idea of community neighborhoods; I was thinking about the technical aspects such as the space to store these and I'm wondering if they would decommission clan citadels to make room for them

#

I'd be on board if, and only if, the clan citadel dance floor is added to poh

quiet nimbus
#

I def hope we get more fun furnishings wity it ^^ dance floor would be cool, playable instruments would be cool too like a piano etc :D
And the games room boards :P

rustic tendon
#

The citadel is alot to decommission. :/ Its not exactly in the same spot as POH either: Its code was undertaken separately by a large team. It was a pet project for awhile. I think a place like that would be revamped rather than demolished like POH updates doing.

#

<.< Truth be told, they could do alot with it using alot less effort. Customization wise anyways. I mean you dont even need all of those plots to get all the skiller plots going.

balmy wing
#

Dancing would be cool. We have some rest animations that are a little dance-y too but I think they should be easier to access like in the emotes panel.

I think the citadel has a space in the game and could be improved upon a lot in terms of customisation with the update. But also feel like weekly upkeep can go? /shrug Fun future project that's decoupled from PoH/Con to 120 maybe?

rustic tendon
#

I mean, if they took the time to relocate Citadel to GE rather than just delete it like Nexus, then chances are they still have some stock in that feature still existing in some way.

quiet nimbus
rustic tendon
#

What really helps that is having file syncrony from music sites, so everyone can sync play. ^^ Ive seen a few games these days that put instruments in, but few ever really nail down the secrets of a good instrumental concerto in MMOs. I still remember the crowds of bards competing for attention daily at the lodestone in Limsa Lominsa. Zero rhythm, zero ability to draw out or shorten notes. Was a little difficult to enjoy. :/

balmy wing
#

I've seen some cool bands in FF14 but later learning that in almost every case, it's just one person and their 7 alts using a plugin and not actually using the in-game tools to play makes it much less impressive šŸ˜… Still very nice to chill with though.

rustic tendon
#

Yep, good ol Dalamund :P Considering the API changes coming out end of year potentially, we might still see it down the road. Wouldnt hold my breath though.

quiet nimbus
#

^^ suppose so haha

Really hyped for shared spaces too I wonder how fae they'll go with that, l hope get different types of neighbourhoods like there could be a floating island one and a countryside and a deep wildy themed one and stuff to live next to people in :)

hot path
#

They won't make POH overpowered. If you look at how they're doing updates recently you'll see how they almost always lessen the gap between the floor and the ceiling.

Look at the new 120 combat capes. They're not OP. Because they don't want players to feel like they need to get 120 in a skill just to be efficient.

Look at the thieving changes. Lower level thieving got a buff and high level thieving got a nerf.

Look at the combat modernization update. The baseline got stronger but the BIS got weaker.

Look at what they want to do with magic going forward. They want to make baseline magic stronger instead of buffing BIS.

#

All of this points to POH or 120 construction being a nice to have but not overpowered.

the system has tons of potential if we can plop in assets from across the entire game

crude plover
#

I am appalled that the current PoH house layout style won't even be possible under the new system. Some of us like our courtyards.

vale igloo
#

I don't think they said that it wouldn't be possible... just that you can do way more than just that

balmy wing
#

Is that the case? Just because you can have a non-square room, doesn't mean you can't still have square rooms around a central courtyard under the new system, since it's sounding like it will be way more flexible. /shrug

I wonder how many more teleports will be put into the portal nexus. Will it just add all the spell teleports? Will jewelry teleports be added? Could we add altar teleports? Like making it cost 100 altar tablets per teleport?

I would like a large focus to be giving lots of variety of cosmetics. If they really needed to I'm fine with skin packs (ex: halloween, Zamorak, etc) being sold in the market place. Or even silly things if it can't be justified right now. I feel like PoH has to have a lot to it to not make it dead content for some people. Not for myself as I've always been waiting for this. There needs to be a way for visitors to see your house so that people feel encourages to spend money and time. I like what boards with notices of who's house is open to visitors.

vast raven

devout gull
#

I don't know how many artists and such they have to do something as large as we're asking. My concern is that there's going to be only a small amount of choice with limited teleports or buffs. Then it may get put down as dead content as we have better options. Depending on the focus of the housing which seems to be social there needs to be some reason you'd go to a friends house. Showing off wealth really only seems to be the main reason now. Not saying it needs a marketplace pack but there are multiple teams that get pulled into these updates

hot path
#

If you think about it.. what is really the purpose of housing in an mmorpg?
In real life, your house is where you rest after coming home from work.
But in mmos, there is no work. You don't need a home to rest or relax in. Most of the activities you want to do is outside your POH. So the devs have to artificially make reasons for players to come to their house lol.

cunning cypress
#

I think if we're going to lean into the customization aspect, we should be able to display and show off a whole range of stuff. Let us show off the equipment we've gotten from crafting and from drops. The armor, the weapons, the capes, etc. Let us show off our achievements and collections

gray jetty
#

Can display uniques you've gotten, but only after clogging

light skiff
#

Or just build a statue of the boss that players can examine to see your collection log. Maybe a fancier version of the statue for people who've finished the log.

I like the idea of the artefact storage and potion cauldron, which might save me some bank space. However, the building and design spaces sound like a Sims game. As far as the community spaces, I don't visit or want my neighbors visiting me irl. Why would I want to do that here? lol

A successful housing system would be absolutely massive for the game. Just look at what it did for WoW. Sometimes we gotta learn to take yes for an answer

I'm definitely excited about the housing updates šŸ˜„ Since we're looking at a social aspect, maybe have a market place or a shop where we can sell our products or services to our community. maybe it can be connected to our GE offers or something... just a thought

Maybe a farm plot also? We can tend to each other's garden sometimes.

The butler's cooking skill is lacking.... tired of serving chocolate cake and beer to my guests. Let's widen the range

It would be nice to get some kind of buff or reward for visiting someone's house

#

Can have clan neighborhoods, too, that’s a cool thing imo. Maybe we can get a citadel rework eventually too, with some construction involved

steady tartan
#

Serious question.... is this update going to cost the player in the long run.....as there has been alot of taking and not much giving lately

manic gate
#

Didn’t seem like it, to me. Every plank type has a set, more customization, player neighborhoods, and they said any furniture you have built currently will just be placed in the new object inventory, so there’s no money loss in it, either.

prime rain

One of my concerns with excessive creative freedom is in many cases people get into grossly inappropriate designs. This is one of many reasons that led to the fall of one of my favorite games project spark

gray jetty

Let people make what they want. Its not worth sacrificing freedom because some people might have fun with the system in a way you dont like. Worst case, dont go back to that house.

gray jetty
balmy bone
tidal owl
gray jetty
#

sure, but at that point theres little reason to not just have a bank

tidal owl
#

If i can just port to bosses from poh, use my prolonged cauldron buff and have my inventory and gear sorted i really dont need any other functions.

gray jetty
#

thats true, but with that, they should be just putting in a bank. which defeats whatevever purpose they made up to not have a bank

tidal owl
#

I see how you would think that. Make the arming station only load combat presets (tagged presets with combat style) then. Not an issue. Having a full bank to me would enable people to skill from their poh and remove them from w84 or forinthry wherever they may be world wise, not that any sane human would willingly forego those buffs.

gray jetty
#

that sounds like a lot of hoops for something, and a lot of pita just to prevent a bank from happening though. when most of that is just achieved by not having skilling stations

tidal owl
#

Well they want to make the house something people actually use, past skilling achievements and quest trophies an active use for pvm is the only way minus social gatherings. which happen alot less than bossing. it would have to actual be functional, and useful for it to not be dead on arrival. like alot of things are.

gray jetty
#

but that sort of in between would then be abused to be used as a bank anyways. because what do you define as combat? cant use raw food? well, theres a familiar that lets you eat raw food, right? it might not often be used, but that should make raw food elligable.
also, what about skilling bosses? they want materials. suddenly it needs to be allowed to use all materials, and... functions as a bank anyways

#

and yes. thats correct. im in favour of just putting a bank in there. people that want to be social will be social. those that dont arnt providing value bankstanding. doesnt matter where they bankstand

tidal owl
#

Yeah, idk. A bank would be nice, I just know theyre against it so i'm trying to cope and come up with ways for it to be reasonable. Although, why would it be a problem? Like i said, no sane human would forego group buffs etc at fort just to skill at home, and if so, why stop em?

gray jetty
#

pretty much. devs can be wrong though, and in this case, its a weird stance

cunning shard
#

OMG this sounds awesome I've always been a housing fan especially when it's useful and customizable one of the reasons,

One suggestion a "cauldron" holding our potions why not an alchemy shelf with bottles and ingredients. Unless the cauldron you can mix and customize potions with an extended duration. I don't know the possibilities are endless.

I really like the direction and this housing one is especially exciting for me.

magic plover
#

It would be really cool if it ends up something that effectively consolidates each potion to a single bank slot containing the total doses for each potion. So as long as you have enough vials/flasks you can withdraw any dosage you want.

#

any fun ideas?

#

will the citadel get any love with 120 cons?

rustic tendon
#

Nope. Citadel will probably be another project given how big of a project it was back in its day. it definitely needs a splash of paint though; it was never technically finished. Depending on how POH goes over with audiences I might see that in the cards for a rework potentially next year or two

urban trout
rustic tendon
#

I think at the very least better customization of the cit would be in order, and at most the ability to actually fill all the plots up. :P Skilling really needs to be expanded on in there.

balmy wing
#

Re. citadel, removal of maintenance / upkeep so there's no semi-forced weekly chore would be amazing.

could get the foundation and everything done with the 120 update, then later down the line copypaste the system to replace the citadel and create a clan hall area

wheat galleon
#

exactly! Id love to see citadel get the same kind of love eventually. Especially seeing as Citadels are basically a clans home

polar valley
#

I am a little curious for specifics on the potion cauldron. Is it intended to be like the potion chug barrel from osrs or the potion rack bank expansion from osrs

full thunder
#

I see the bank thing being brought up again. If there is no bank, I’m not going to want to go to the house. Walking a lot or teleporting back and forth over and over isn’t fun gameplay to me. I think the bank stance really needs to be reconsidered or it’s dead content for people like me.

manic gate
#

I can do without banks just fine, but there should be a bank in the new PoH. We have two banks in War’s and a bank for every station in Fort, a bank in PoH seems up to modernization

vale igloo

it's okay for something to be "dead content" for some people

brisk dome
#

Ive been waiting on this update for years! lol as fas as the social aspect. how hard would it be to make "neighborhoods" where like 30 ish houses are in a map and people can just visit other houses?

#

each world would have so many "neighborhoods" and peoples house would just load into it.

#

if they are changing how the skill is trained with free placement. can we finally get a bank at the house? or even with the neighborhood idea add banks to the neighborhoods

rustic tendon
#

Theyre not going to add banks to POH, sorry.

hot path
#

They're already considering reducing the number of worlds just to increase "other player visibility" even though we all know how worlds lag when there are lots of players in it.

Adding a bank to POH and allowing people to hole themselves in their own houses would be like the devs shooting themselves in the foot.

versed quail
balmy wing

I can see the butler acting more bank-y - like being able to fetch a wider variety of things with the same delay or a better interface to select what you want and maybe presets or something (like bring me 5 soft clay, 10 magic planks, and pick up a gold leaf from the store here's some spending money).

Speaking of spending, I wouldn't mind a vendor of some sort. Maybe sell-only since if it was just a general store, it would make the current tool racks and such redundant, but maybe the culinromancer chest could fit in a kitchen (and share stock maybe).
Or specialized vendors like housing vendors who sell things like blueprints and materials like Bill, a vendor who will sell infinite metal bars or logs and such at an inflated price (paying for convenience, never undercutting players, etc)

grim sand
#

If you're going to remove our rooms can you refund us the coins that were spent to make them?

Uh, can we not force another 120 update and just make it 110?

#

The EoC update forcing players to train 120 attack, ranged, and strength with no real incentive is annoying.

spiral marsh
#

there should be a house portal in fort forinthry

bleak night
light skiff
#

I think every skill is going to go to 120 eventually. I'm hoping they have some ideas for what construction 100-120 will unlock. The only skills that have gotten 110 updates are skills that are useful to produce weapons and armor. I think they're waiting to make them go to 120 until they're okay with higher level weapons and armor being craftable. Construction won't have such a balance concern, so I don't see any reason to raise the cap bu stop at 110.

raw nova
#

there is no new incentives or abilities from 99-120 combat stats. This is what we call "filler."

bleak night
# raw nova what perks? attack cape is shameful.

Is one of the bis perk for melee users, not because its ohhh wowow so good, but just because the rest are bad, and if iirc they intesionated make it like that because they literally said "we dont want players to feel forced to level up to 120 to start doing pvm", and yet here you are

vale igloo
#

no one is forcing you to do anything

still chasm
#

I think having access to the first 20 levels of Construction would help pique interest in membership among F2P players. A modern POH would be an effective teaser for membership, likely more than Archaeology and Necromancy. The house is something personal and unique to each player, making it a potentially powerful driver of motivation.

gray jetty
#

yeah, its kind of like, they dont want the main thing that would get people in those houses. theres little else that would get people to use a poh in a meaningful/social way, because the people that want to be social are often the people that are bankstanding/skilling.

prime rain
#

Things will change if player housing is actually good and the customization allows for some actual creativity and impressive loadouts. Every game with a robust player housing system has an entire ecosystem and community around that

gray jetty
#

maybe? but how often do you see groups of rs players doing something because its fun? or because its social? it happens for sure, but not that often. id say its something like a minority.

vast raven
#

THey all do whatever they do because it's fun to them

gray jetty
#

people might do some things because they are more fun. or do something because it is fun, but only if its gaining them, or their friend something. it needs to be part of progression

#

idk, i rarely see people saying they do something purely because its fun. they do it because its an enjoyable part of their progression, or complaining because its part of their progression, but isnt enjoyable at all. but rarely.. just because its fun

#

but my original point was that the largest audience for social people to have, and talk to other social people is bankstanding, and its kind of hard to change that without also catering to those people, because in order to be social, you're tearing them from their progression to do so. so.. wont both groups just bankstand instead?

prime rain
#

player housing is unlike other things. a proper housing system where you craft unique/rare furniture from boss drops, idk if they have functionalities or whatever, is its own progression system. having that level of customization is extremely immersive and provides rich soil for RP communities and people who actually want to hang out and live inside the game, something that has been missing for years and years but HAS been successfully done very recently in WoW with their housing system

#

giving people a creative platform is one of the most important things you can do for a game like this

gray jetty
#

yeah, i could be wrong in that.
but i also dont really see how a bank even does anything bad for the game anyways, assuming that its not the best spot to be, anyways, so i advocate for that. the only 'social damage' it does is removing the people that didnt want to be social anyways

#

i see a lot of people doing creative things for a few months, maybe even 6. but im betting it falls off faster than most content to almost nothing if it doesnt have much of a reason to actually be there, other than 'fun'. and forcing people to go there for storage if that ends up being the case only makes it an issue

prime rain
#

I think they can put a bank in the house but it would probably have to be a fixed layout room that wouldn't be BiS for every activity. But I think there is an appeal to gearing up for a boss fight inside your house especially with potion cauldron also being there

#

I can see some really degen gameplay if you can just drag and drop a bank chest in edit mode

gray jetty
#

yeah, absolutely. like, it shouldnt be the best place to do anything, in terms of bankstanding.

prime rain
#

I'm ultimately fine either way if we get a bank or not, because jagex surely knows how to keep fort forinthry meta for the skilling available there so it wouldn't invalidate that entire place as a skilling hub

gray jetty
#

pretty much. im more worried that it will be annoyingly forced on us if it doesnt, for pvm.

#

like, imagine having to go to wars to bank, poh to potion, then back to wars to portal or whatever. or just poh -> wars depending on how they do it.

prime rain
#

yeah another step would be annoying

gray jetty
#

and, if we get portals in poh, and a bank, then its way better than wars and devalues it. but it can likely be done in a way that it doesnt, with all facilities needed. but that takes freedom from creating

prime rain
#

I think boss portals are pretty solidly off the table, not sure jagex even wants WR to remain in the game long-term because it nullifies so many reward spaces but you can't just pull it cold turkey

gray jetty
#

i think a lot of us would riot if we have to travel to boss instances, with how annoyingly placed they are nowadays

#

it limits reward space, kind of. but its not like we're so short on places we can reward players that we absolutely need that.

prime rain
#

yeah they've clearly placed bosses wherever because war exists

gray jetty
#

also travel for the sake of travel is probably the least interesting thing that could be added. and probably the worst part of osrs pvm

vast raven
#

Teleports to 90% of the game squares for the sake of not travelling is worse though šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

gray jetty
#

is it, though? i agree that sometimes thats the case, but not for bossing.

hot path
#

yeah no sorry I don't want to go back to trekking just to fight a boss

#

droprates are balanced around the expectation that you'll do thousands to complete a boss log

gray jetty
#

in the context of questing id argue travel can be a good thing. it might make it more immersive, if its not 'go to the other side of the world'

hot path
#

I don't want to do thousands of trekking to get a single boss kill that would be a thousand steps backwards

gray jetty
#

no joke, walking to rax and cerb in osrs killed a lot of my enjoyment of the game. may not have been the reason i left, but it definitely contributed

full canyon
#

OSRS got all those house updates and you were wondering why those didn't come to the main game. But now the improvements are going to be amazing.

gray jetty
#

i dont think anyone was really wondering, its just that poh has been dead content for us for ages, and its really hard to make it good without either devaluing, or competing with other stuff (that itll lose against)

full canyon
#

I kinda would love the PoF to be moved. You can essentially have a homestead. Plus it'll declutter Kandarin.

Player-Owned Homestead. It'd be perfect for removing PoF from world map as part of Kandarin declutter.

#

Compared to the cluttered state of Kandarin.

I'd think the south-east area of the Homestead could have a bank so you still need to do some running from your house. In terms of distance, it'd be comparable to running between Yanille bank and house portal.

These could be like replica items (similar to how inventions machines, ports, and kingdoms can all be managed at fort forinthry) you can achieve through further gameplay for a convenience reward. I would like the decorations to be expanded on from skills, questing, and bosses. Maybe those items that are neat but useless from questing can be displayed. I like the idea of having a wizard's lab with items displayed on the walls with a alchemy bench and cauldron, potion shelf, rune lectern, something that gives benefits to my game but still has me go outside to skill.

I personally like the idea of mixing potions in my secret lair but not for skilling but maybe for adding a buff of the ability to customize potions and store them.

I create bulk base potions at the GE bring them to my lab customize them by mixing and matching and add them to a shelf to grab when going out into the world.

There's been no answer from Jagex as far as I'm aware, but I think we can safely assume they know players have stuff stored in their POH and they're not going to transition things in a way that would delete that stuff. Presumably what you have assigned to the slots in a treasure chest, armor case etc. is saved as part of your player profile and will be remembered when you put that piece of furniture back.

I am appreciative we are finally getting this update. But if they want any hope of adding a social side to this skill. They have to add neighborhoods. Each world has so many and when you log in your home loads to a plot in the neighborhood. As it stands now the only social things anyone does on here is bankstand skills. And really what's the difference if wars or your poh in a neighborhood has boss portals? They are in the game anyway. Bring in neighborhoods with a wars like central area and boom social problem solved

They are known as home teleports and it make a lot of sense if these were tied to the new incoming nexus instead. They could be nexus teleports you could perform from your spellbooks. These could work as upgrades to the nexus which allow us to unlock more home teleports and perhaps others relative to those specific areas. I think a free spell you could tie to the nexus and switch to whatever place you want would be neat too.

Much as I enjoy your ideas, Lodestones need to stay where they are. People depend on them and there would be major upset if they were outright removed, just like the Dungeoneering shop. My suggestion? Go back to the old days perhaps where lodestones were free to cast... and came with a half hour cooldown. This was to avoid people relying on them too heavily, while keeping teleports intact. Its convienient, at the cost of time.

I would see that going over much better.

I just want to point out that I don't hate the lodestone system. Obv the system itself is very useful for new players and in getting around. I myself love it when clueing.

My problem is with the physical stone objects, not the teleport system. While they do look fine in cities, notably Priff or menaphos, in places that are natural like the Frem area or Eagle's peak area they break the natural look and feel of the area. Further, they just add clutter.

I question, do these physical items need to be here? The answer is no, they don't The system could still work without the physical items. Home teleports could be unlocked by talking to an individual, after performing some sort of ritual or spell in the area, or even after just reaching the area.

All other teleports require no such landing physical visible points like lodestones. Originally the first home teleport to lumbridge required no lodestone.

They add to clutter, break immersion, are unnecessary, and the system can work and has worked without them

solar cove
#

I think it would be better for the lodestones to be visually reworked to fit the area's aesthetics, the current ones feel a bit too generic so it can look like clutter

tepid rover
#

...did you guys miss the lore? yeah thy look generic, they were made by the Wizard's Tower

gusty vault
#

I think a reason for the lodestone system was obv to have an explanation for the free teleports. But this can just be changed to be a spell or ritual. It's magic after all right? I don't think something needs to be visible for it to work.

Further, i suppose for a sense of exploration, such as running around and tagging all lodestones to unlock them, but this could just be done by speaking to someone there. Ex. There are no more physical lodestone objects, instead there could be wizards just wandering round where lodestones used to be. Players could talk to these Wizards to unlock the home teleport to that area. Like he gives you access to the magical field or network or something. After it's unlocked wizard teles away or something

restive sigil
#

In regard to getting functionality out of Construction, I think that building things like those suggested in the blog would make more sense in overworld locations rather than the POH. If we're building artifact storage, lets put that at the Archaeology Guild where I'll actually want access to them. Similarly if we're building buffs like a potion cauldron for pre-boss activities, lets build that at War's Reatreat rather than adding an additional stop of the POH to my prep.

I've really liked how Havenhythe utilized Construction to provide things like the canoe stations or the fish farm spots. And I've really liked in OSRS where they put hotspots in places like Fossil Island or on Sailing islands to add utiltiies like bank chests or cooking ranges to remote locations. I think that this path for Construction rewards would be more versatile and keep people out in the overworld for whatever activities we apply these type of utility rewards to.

#

Thus I think for the POH we should double down on customization and showing off achievement rather than functionality. Just go hard on those aspects for that piece of content and seperate the functional reward space out.

#

Construction training, especially for a level cap increase update, I don't think is adequately covered in the blog, to the point I really don't know what to expect. So for that point I just want to mention that current and anything similar to current POH Construction training is not something I ever desire to do and would much rather expansions to the Construction Contract or Fort systems to grind at.

Doesn't even have to be specifically at the Fort, If we got some building in Havenhythe with a blueprint table outside that we could build and repeatedly reinforce, or a build anywhere else in the world utilizing the Fort Construction system, I'd also take that. Similarly adding Contruction Contract tiers with newer planks and at new locations like Wendlewick would be fun.

balmy wing
#

Regarding training, I'd quite like more 'masterwork-y' type processes. Construct one really fancy thing for the house taking hundreds of planks and stone, etc, rather than construct, destroy, repeat on a hundreds of individual things. I also think one flaw of current construction is that everything is instant, and exp is per resource - meaning the things that take more resources are objectively better for training than things that take fewer (think oak chair vs. oak dungeon door)

More resources means resource-saving effects like scroll of proficiency + artificer's measure will have more benefit too; I think they're entirely useless right now with Fort Forinthry.

#
  • making planks/reinforced planks/frames is 28/7/9 at a time so it's at most maybe 40 seconds afk time
gusty vault
#

I can understand your point and you're right about being able to build stuff in those areas. I also agree that construction methods should expand further into the overworld.

Def expanding construction contracts like fixing npc stoves or sinks, maybe a roof leak. While building furniture is nice, I would really like to feel like a handy man fixing stuff for ppl in runescape.

Further, include what I would call construction projects. Like fix/reinforce bigger things like reinforcing the varrock walls or reinforcing the Menaphos imperial castle or replacing the roof of the falador party room. Maybe there's a problem in the varrock sewers and we have fix it or replace some things.

Additionally, long projects like restoring West Ardy it's been a ghetto forever.

Also being paid in a currency after completing every job/project would just better immerse players into the role of a builder. I also think expanding the construction contracts shop to include poh cosmetics is a great idea.

Also just building fishing boats with construction which we can upgrade and have to repair to sail, search, and enter new encounters with giant legendary fish sounds so epic.

With that being said. The Poh does need some utility otherwise it is dead content for the vast majority of players. If not the things that they have suggested for the poh. Then what would you suggest?

What if our poh became our own little hub for Construction contracts and hopefully one day Construction projects too?

Ex. In the workbench there's a communication device that can connect you with postings for needed jobs or projects or maybe you can contact the real state agent from there and get contracts/projects.

Perhaps you can make Construction orders for npcs there and later deliver them through some device or a servant can deliver whatever you made.

Perhaps npcs need stuff repaired and you can easily teleport to them through some device or portal, maybe nexus to fix the problem, etc.

#

Perhaps some projects require specific tools, like wrenches, screwdrivers, magical torches, etc. And you can collect these to have your own little workshop/tool shop. You could do specific tasks to collect all necessary tools for projects. Ex. Some jobs require specific tools and you will only be able to do them once you have those tools.

This could give construction some nice progression.

Idea for something we can build in the PoH: a potion decanting device

#

Also I can’t believe I haven’t already said this but we need to be able to build a frog pond and frog statues

Also I’ve got a bit of a complicated idea for having pets in the PoH. Currently they’ll wander around anywhere they can go, but I’m thinking maybe we could place them in specific spots and they’ll either stay there, or wander within a radius, or maybe wander within that room? That way we can place our cats on the cat bed and our frogs in the frog pond and keep Tiny Zemo locked up in the dungeon

#

Maybe it could be that you have to build a feeding bowl for each pet you have and they’ll wander within a set radius of that

#

But then you end up with pet food bowls all over the floor which might not be the look everyone wants

#

What will happen with the aquarium? It seems sensible to combine the prawnbroker and the diving suit with the actual entrance to the aquarium and make it one piece of furniture so that it’s all together. The aquarium is really the only room where you want those things to be in the same space

#

Oh and the chapel with the incense burners near the altar. I suppose there will have to be a limit on how many of certain items you can build? Again for the incense and the altar it seems sensible to either combine them into one item with a lot of right click options or have a radius from the altar that you can place the burners

#

Out of those options I imagine the first is easier from your end but it might be harder on the players

#

Or maybe the altar doesn’t have the burners physically attached and they have a seperate hit box but in terms of placing and upgrading them, they count as the same item and the burners are always a set distance away from the altar

#

Can we please have decorations themed appropriately for worship of all of the gods and the replica artworks from archeology in our house? I think there is value in honoring and remembering the past since it lets players know how things have changed, for better or worse and we can look back at it and think whether things have indeed gotten better or worse. I think having a nice picture or sign with those words would do nice. The only thing better might be an actual ingame museum or something about big game updates. Who knows maybe one day?

Heck I even think its fun just looking at the past and being able to experience it. Even more if you were in it! Could be one of the reasons osrs is very popular.

To be fair a large number of OSRS players are new guys who never played RS2 so it’s clearly not just nostalgia.

I mean i'd argue the graphics themselves and the simple click gameplay are throwbacks to the past already for new players. Osrs is like a time capsule for both old and new players. It's uniquess is that it has stayed pure in it's click and tick gameplay and retro graphics for so long. It's almost like a retro game that has been perserved.

Imo, the massive amounts of content, and respect for former content (keeping it relevant, a HUGE part for progression), and ofc the power that players have in shaping the game itself are big reasons as to why people stay.
