The Ring of Kinship offers 12 buffs total, with 6 being overlapping and 6 being non-overlapping.
Overlapping means that multiple effects COULD take place simultaneously for a specific action; this applies to the Ranger and Magic buffs (ie. an attack COULD trigger multiple buffs simultaneously). For overlapping buffs, it is essential that only one buff be selected (for ranged and for magic respectively)
Non-overlapping means that the associated action cannot have multiple buffs associated with that action, and that simultaneous actions cannot occur (such that multiple buffs would be triggered).
For Melee, you can be 2-Handed OR Dual-Wielded OR 1-Handed(+Shield); None of these can occur simultaneously, therefore none of the melee buffs can take effect simultaneously when engaging in melee combat
For Skiller, the Medic/Gatherer/Artisan buffs can only apply to associated actions that do not overlap, so none of these buffs occur simultaneously. It is also not possible to attack and perform a skilling action (eg. harvesting or crafting) in the same action, so these buffs would not overlap.
I propose that:
- Buffs for Melee and Skiller categories be applied automatically for their respective actions
- Ranged and Magic each have one single buff active at any given time, and these single-buffs are automatically applied whenever switching to these combat styles. (eg. if I switch from melee to Ranged and previously specified the Sniper buff, then that buff is automatically used without manually enabling it)
What this accomplishes:
- Eliminates the tediousness, forgetfulness, and error-proneness of manually switching to buffs
- Eliminates the need to constantly reopen the Ring of Kinship customization window, which takes up a lot of screen space and which closes on each action
