The pillars at Gate of Elidinis are functioning as intended and do not necessarily need fixing. It is a boss basically built about rhythm.
The jumps want to be spaced 1 game tick (0.6 seconds) apart, and you have a 5 tick window from jumping onto the first pillar to launch your attack with +25% damage.

Here's a checklist to review conditions that might be making your character "stick":

  1. Check the world's ping.
If you are playing at high ping rates, Gate of Elidinis can be much more difficult to execute correctly.

  2. Check the world population.
It is known that worlds at around 250 population are likely to incur population lag, which can make your tick timing inconsistent. Avoid higher population worlds when doing Gate of Elidinis otherwise.

  3. Check your camera mode.
For some really bizarre reason, the camera modes in the game portray the player's movement differently.
"Classic" camera options have a really jumpy camera which can make accurate clicks on the pillars harder.

Ping causing dead clicks, shouldn't be happening though

After having done a couple hundred kills I've got the clicks down perfect. However the past week suddenly my character is getting stuck on pillars and clicks not processing right. Then suddenly will start being fine again. No game lag, no internet issues. Just a big in the battle.

Simple fix would be to make it more recognizable when your clicks go through. A small windows on each pillar that shatters each pillar you click, etc. Its frustrating to go from consistent 2 minute kills to 4 minute kills suddenly because of pillars not working adequately.

I also have c. 1800 kc at gate and only had issues like OP describes when I'd accidentally started a session on a non-local or high-pop world
