#Poorly thought out poll

This poll about treasure hunter removal is poorly thought out.
First of all, why is the no button missing? Clearly you want to get an assessment of how many says no. Consider 100,000 yes and 120,000 no.
Second of all, people can vote without realizing about removing an entire list of 225 items or so. Items removal should be a separate poll.

#

If people don't read the whole post before voting that's their own fault

alpine bone
#

Perhaps button at the bottom of the list gives people a chance to read - another reason why it is poorly thought out.

But, but, we gave you a choice.......

Ignore that the "poll" only allows you to vote "Yes", that we outlined a complete plan on what we're removing before we count the poll results, that we already set a Nov 12th rollout date, and most of all: ignore that Jagex employee back there adding 50k clicks to the poll results......

Nothing to see here....remember you chose this.

Soylent Green! It's good for the environment and ok for you!

fallen owl
#

so the poll isn't asking who doesn't want it

#

the poll is asking if 100k votes occur this is happening regardless of how many feel otherwise

#

again; majority of the items aren't being removed

#

they just won't be obtaining via Treasure Hunter.

#

Treasure hunter isn't good for any reason, think about it; You don't get what you want; you get whatever is randomly provided to you for your money.
There is absolutely nothing good about Treasure Hunter. Its RNG based purchases.

fallen owl
#

my prediction is minumum 330k votes occur by day 7.

#

The only items I can think of that are so far confirmed looking at Chopping block with no other sources are:

  • Proteans
  • Combat Dummies
  • Skilling Dummies
  • Unstable Proteans
  • Various Insert name here Lamps
  • Portables

All other items that I can think of have another source meaning it is still available to obtain.

JoshBJoshB thank you for suggesting this- you literally took the words right out of my mouth.

As a long time veteran of this game, I was disheartened to see the other side not being fully accounted for and represented. Rather than being a naysayer (which I am respectfully against this update but let’s set that aside for just a moment), I would actually like to see both sides of the vote on MTX/Treasure hunter’s future transparently represented to see who all is voting no versus yes (which we are already seeing). This would include adding a “no” button.

Subsequently, if I am to suggest anything further it would involve a full investment in really updating pre-existing content to incentivize gameplay the way people wish to see it.

Thank you for your consideration in reviewing this feedback response!

fallen owl
#

I just simply cannot see a reason where Portables, Proteans, Dummies are actually productively good and healthy for the game.

#

Utilities of Portables weren't bad, just the viability of them being placed all in 1 location is.

  • Cooking Benefits should go to select Stoves (Lumbridge Castle Kitchen, Fort, Cooks Guild, Edgeville Rock)
  • Fletching could occur to the 3 Benches available for Fletching in the game (Rangers Guild, Fort, Catherby)
  • Crafting could have a thing stationary at exclusively the Crafting Guild and maybe Priff?

# fallen owl I just simply cannot see a reason where Portables, Proteans, Dummies are actuall...

It's pretty clear where you stand, and it seems you might even play that way, not using proteans etc. as you said in other posts.

What I can't stand is why you have to ruin everyone else's play? No portables?

I don't really want to go back 15 years and run to the nearest stove, it wastes a lot of time. If I did, I would be playing OSRS. And, with all skills going to 110 does everyone else?

It's clear, people with your opinion are going to win, and I'm sure you think RS will be somehow "better". I think that after a year or two, when they figure out how much harder and slower it is, they will quit.

But so far you are the only "honest" person I've seen in this discussion in that you feel that way and you also don't use the items, like proteans. I do respect that.

But as you posted before you have over 280k Silverhawks, and over 100k of 3 diff Unstable Protean's, are you saying you got all that thru play and not buying TH keys?

Just saying, seems a little sus, I respect your choices, just don't respect all those trying to force the rest of us to not have/use portables, etc.

If anyone doesn't like them, fine, have the internal fortitude to not use them, and stop trying to cancel them for the rest of us.

fallen owl
#

I absolutely have purchased TH keys previously though many times.

#

I have used BXP Stars, I have used Lamps (even tho tbh I think Lamps are damaging to the game tbh)
and genuinely majority of my Key purchases have been in attempts to obtain items exclusively offered in Treasure Hunter such as cosmetic abilities, which later on was released in runecoins; I purchased my desired ones then.

sand axle
fallen owl
#

I have no issues supporting Game when appropriately handled; I strongly opposed the gambling aspect of Keys. If Jagex wants to sell these items; I think they need to be directly sold.
additionally; put into consideration how they impact the game.

#

okay so example of my locations

#

have bank directly next to them

#

no different then placing a portable; the difference, a dedicated spot; no item required to obtain it

sand axle
fallen owl
#

specific methods to unlock the regions for some; and others just skill requirement

#

my main and primary issue with portable packs is making other areas of the game useless....

#

I am not opposed to the portable benefits being directly next to a bank

#

but not all in 1 location for all skills

#

we have benches designed for these in game already; why aren't we applying this to them?

sand axle
fallen owl
#

do you mind me showing some examples of these?

fallen owl
#

so my worst one of all absolutely would be Herblore Well replacement;

#

this would be the only location i can immediately think of preexsisting; but this doesn't mean the one in priff couldn't be better optimal for banking

#

could even make it similar to portable only requiring you in range by 3 tiles

grave creek
#

Just don't mess with my silverhawk, notepaper and spring. Seriously, what a kick in the guts to low mid level players trying to make a living.

Other auto bank functions are literally block by high level requirements.

fallen owl
#

cooking

fallen owl
#

I do however feel Silverhawks is a terrible thing exclusively because it bypasses a skill rather then makes developers look towards making this skill more enjoyable and useful.

#

now that doesn't mean i support the removal of silverhawk, I too hate the skill entirely.

sand axle
#

There is a conflict, it's institutional and core to RS and all it's players.

It stems from the old school design when skills were 99, tree's were in the forest and no wood boxes, no ways to teleport things, and the best stove to cook on was Catherby.

Designers still think this way, players still think this way, nobody has yet done what you're suggesting and place the device (such as a stove) right next to the bank so no walking.

It's a fine idea, but not likely to happen because too many people would then start complaining about how "unauthentic" it is. Not going to happen.

fallen owl
#

we could even maintain Catherby Stove being with chance to save materials benefit.

#

Personally im not die hard on requiring it to be without no steps; I understand where others may feel this part is important though.

grave creek
#

Not to mention all the gathering items will need to be bank via sign porter at low level which is expensive compared to notepaper.

sand axle
fallen owl
#

1; this would create viable method of high demand items making profitable methods; then saturating a market into flooding materials for those to players thus dramatically dropping price of costs.

sand axle
grave creek
fallen owl
#

the primary reason the costs are so high is the items to craft = dead content

#

therefore rarely supplied into the market

#

therefore costly

sand axle
fallen owl
#

why choose a rarely needed item when we have millions provided for free from keys

#

so over saturated by keys btw its super cheap

#

now that being said; I agree its a concern thats valid to have.

#

This is how you've played and depended; but now imagine how many of those exsist in the game by players forced and now depend on it

#

there will absolutely be a hurdle of costs for a tiny bit; but the market will eventually balance itself out

#

and additionally your royal dhide will increase in price

#

with a massive removal of crafting bypasses

grave creek
#

Enchanted notepaper requires invention LV 97.... Literally unobtainable on low levels. There is no way to bank them even if royal d hides goes up...

sand axle
lean snow
#

Might I opine an idea? Why not add an NPC in the wizard tower somewhere that values something you can get him and will trade you notepaper in exchange?

fallen owl
#

now in regards to your statement towards portables as strictly interesting for the reason you mentioned; I agree and validate your opinion on that; again I am not opposed to having a bank next to stove for that specifically.

#

I just think having every skilling method congregated in 1 specific spot is bad.

#

however presently I do have to mention; its still possible to obtain portables through challenges right now isn't it?

sand axle
grave creek
#

Just because it doesn't affect you doesn't mean it doesn't affect others.
I am ok with MTX gone but I am very against removing spring, notepaper unless Jagex gives a cheaper option to get/make them

fallen owl
#

what I am trying to explain is Notepaper and Springs would be CONVERTED to the craftable version

#

and those craftable versions would become cheaper yes

#

because players would massively make these type supplies in large supply /demand

#

right now those items are expensiver because they are dead content

#

people drop them instead of selling them

#

that creates a market gap issue

sand axle
fallen owl
#

I don't think this is anything to do with Jagex cheating it

#

this was known the moment a poll like this were to occur it would win by a landslide by playerbase

#

even if they included a no option it would feel demoralizing for those who voted no to see how much they'd be massive outweighed

#

im not saying all items are bad

#

but Notepaper and Springs are NOT being deleted

sand axle
fallen owl
#

they are being converted

#

they confirmed it Mod Hooli on Reddit

#

items obtainable or equalivent would be converted

#

that means Spring = Tight Springs

#

those would become same item whatever the name

grave creek
#

How would that help, right now the invention variants require uncommon invention components which are hard to get at low levels. Did you even look at the wiki how much it cost to make them. If they cost over 3k to make per item so many slayer drops had to be left on the ground.

Great for high lv pvmers, everyone else can eat dirt

fallen owl
#

it would help by 1; not destroying current supply

sand axle
#

Well heck, better go buy 300k notepaper and springs then so i don't have to waste time making them.

Joking, I have a lot and don't need, end game.

fallen owl
#

players would then see these items as massively needed on G.E

#

and stop dropping them because they wouldnt sell

#

wiki is wrong at how much it genuinely costs to make them

#

wiki states a price that G.E estimates based on item costs of low transaction items

#

exception to that is Notepaper

#

which is elder logs

#

which is easily fixable tbh

grave creek
sand axle
#

Why would you note logs when you can buy, or make, an Elder Woodbox?

fallen owl
#

btw

#

just checked into Tight Springs

#

can make them with 64gp per 100

#

very easily

#

however where i agree its kinda annoying for lower levels to obtain these

#

it sucks they have to purchase them

#

plus tbh; notepaper is quickly becoming obsolete with many item upgrades avaialble such as Woodbox

lean snow
#

It seems like you could do the NPC fix not only with the notepaper, but with the Springs as well. Have a dwarf/cavegoblin/gnome who asks for something and trades you springs, espcially if you haven't unlocked invention yet

fallen owl
fallen owl
grave creek
#

Or they make them a general store buyable.
notes at 600gp , spring at 3k. That's acceptable.

sand axle
#

I mainly use notepaper now when making Binding Contracts like Hellhound's etc.

fallen owl
#

like I don't have any issue with Springs or Notepaper in the game what so ever;

#

and many Items will rebalance on the market making things much easier for players to make more gp aswell

#

because instead of buying MTX to purchase xp players will be purchasing items

grave creek
fallen owl
#

I made 100 for 64 coins

#

the actual items i disassembled were Yew Shieldbow

#

was able to obtain 64

#

for 1gp ea

sand axle
# fallen owl like I don't have any issue with Springs or Notepaper in the game what so ever;

I don't agree, you're prob right that at first people will make more GP from selling items they skilled, but as prices rise they will also pay more for items they buy, canceling out any benefit.

Over time markets will rebalance and go back to the current status where skillers generally don't make much relative to the cost of things, and PvM for the rare drops will still be the faster GP methods.

It's fundamental supply and demand, there will always be more supply of the cheaper, skilling type items, than there will be of rare drops.

There will be a short term change yes, it won't last.

obtuse root
#

The argument that TH items bypass gameplay is very reminiscent of the debate about lodestones when they came out years ago. People were no longer moving through the entire gamescape, no longer interacting with as many points of interest. Personally, this game is a huge grind and I have zero problem with TH. Even with those items this game still requires significant time to play and progress through.

feral drift
#

Without those items the xp rates are still fine. And if for some skills they aren't the skills themselves need to be fixed instead of throwing bandaid MTX items at it

#

This doesn't just end with TH being removed. More fixed need to happen and will happen to make the whole game better

real ravine
#

It's not 225 items being removed. They're just being removed from MTX. Only things you can't get outside of MTX get completely axed.

#

Your skilling outfits, divine locations, ect. are safe.

sand axle
# real ravine It's not 225 items being removed. They're just being removed from MTX. Only thin...

Maybe, but based on the fact they rolled out a complete plan on what they intended to "remove" at the same time as the "poll" (pretty much proving it is a straw poll, they were going to do it anyway).

I'm pretty certain a number of emergency decisions were made to "keep" a lot of items they had planned to remove entirely.

If that's not true then they have the most incompetent communicators possible doing their news posts.

Could have had two categories, Items that would be gotten in game but removed from "sale" (TH), and items that were going to be entirely removed.

New owners have gotten better about communicating but they're still making the huge errors that really piss people off.

sand axle
#

If it had been me I would prob have kept TH but do an update that disabled and hid it for everyone, forcing people to turn it back on if they wanted it.

Whiners can't see it, people who want it can use it. problem solved (prob not whiners will still whine).

abstract dune
sand axle
# abstract dune that sounds like an ideal compromise imo - make it an opt-in instead of an opt-o...

It would be yes, I can't stand all these people whining about TH.

Nobody is forcing them to use it!

Someone else progress or gains in game have nothing at all to do with yours.

And the argument that "I would make more GP by skilling if not Lamps, Stars, or Proteans" is a complete lie.

Yes, temp they may make more, until prices on things you buy instead of sell, also rise. It also wouldn't alter the fundamental problem of PvM and rare drops making the largest gains instead of skilling.

Players will adjust and skillers will still make crap GP.

So yes the "Hide TH" isn't a real solution, but how else do you stop jealous people from complaining about what others have or are doing?

That's what's going on.....people don't have to use TH, buy keys, or do dailies and whether I do or not has very little effect on anyone else.

But here we are canclling TH.
