#Vote Now On The Future of Treasure Hunter, MTX & RuneScape
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
or even, exp?
daily keys and daily challenges form the base from which many players get extremely disproportionate gains for no time investment, there have been a lot of folks in this channel that have voiced their reliance on these things
and even the time thing doesn't really make much sense for me
like, i work a 9-5 monday through friday
i still make do with the time i have to play, and i'm not in a rush to do things
Yesterday I spoke with someone who admitted to max a skill using lamps gotten from daily keys and daily challenges
Yep its effective but the gambling simulator doesnt have to be the way to get that.
I'm not even remotely anti-MTX and I'm firmly in the set TH on fire and enjoy the warmth camp
heck i'll be honest, i did the early game on my alt for divination with lamps
i really cba to do early game div man, i'm sorry
Id be more sympathetic if they were able to argue for new content that served the same purpose but that isnt what's discussed usually.
but thats the exception of the exception because the skill training for that sucks ass
đ
I tried it one time, never went back
it was either doing that, or suffering through it normally
Which I did
I know that but why pretend that the whole vote thing is legit like every vote counts when only the yes counts mulit times and no No's are included. It's not very much for Integrity
i still have not got whysoshiro past 80 div to this day
we promised to validate any decision with the community
READ
Nobody here is pretending. You are the one actively sticking your head in the sand
I know you're willfully ignoring anything thats opposed to your tantrum
Its there specifically to validate what jagex will do. Not to see if we dont want it
If Jagex can adjust core skilling loops and add more engaging ways to train, the community's reliance on daily challenges and dailyscape could very well drop
but we cannot have a discussion when your fundamental premise is wrong
by a very significant margin indeed if done right
i get some gameplay loops are just way too closed due to the nature of the skill
like how much can you realistically change something like woodcutting
@ chrono, I do hope jagex does fill the void in some way. Just not into the idea of keeping th when its so damaging in other areas.
if it was up to me, all hourlies, dailies and even some weeklies would be immediately removed from the game and then we take the time to fill the gaps with content that doesn't stress you about being there when it happens
They have said repeatedly they will
Was a discussion specific statement
fair
That's fair. Div SUUUUCKS
People stop telling me about all the things they did I know and me and others participated in them. This is no surprise to me. I just think saying every vote matters is wrong because they only are counting yes and multiple times. Whether I'm on one side or the other it's just wrong to pretend.
but you have to agree the early game sucks for divination
i did do it normally once i got a few decent levels in
I can fairly safely say I never core hunted
I learned to get over it when I discovered the mtx dxp boosts get you to 3m hour without the div mh
I know I did most of my Div pre-caches
Even without, its still fast for a skill
i don't mind monthlies, an entire month is a great enough duration of time that it doesn't warp your time around it, and they only take 5-10 minutes
that's also why i was wanting a monthly that rewarded a superior knowledge bomb as a replacement for dxp events, dxp events are like a macro-scale weekly and i don't like how they demand you to be in the game at a specific time, doesn't help that that time is playing efficiently for up to 48 hours in jsut 10 days, that's ALOT of gaming
but even then you have a minimum level to use the div mh
which i think conveniently is 80 div iirc?
doing it raw on leagues still felt slow as fuck even x16
Does it? I still never used it
Agility needs more. More ways to train, more shortcuts, more gameplay boosts possibly. Jagex give us rooftop agility over the cities lol
yeah the dowser is 80 afaik
Now this I can genuinely get behind
Boss... thats still 9m hour if you know the meta
The current structure of DXP is not healthy imo
Lmaooo
As chrono said, that is quite a lot of gaming
MY EYESSSS
whats the secret meta magic you know that I'm clearly missing
More like Memory DOWNER am I right?
assume solo + ironmeme, obviously
Oh boy. I'll tell you huwat. Lemme find my setup once upon a time.
Itl be a bit but ill send the picture
(I'm genuinely curious fwiw, natty div with no caches or hall of memories was pain so if theres a better way...)
and yes, I did cache/engram my way to 99 on leagues
Its literally reg, non afk incandescent
đ
But you juice with a familiar and enriched up the butt. Uhhh you'd need those energies for increased exp
My current proposition regarding dxp is that with Leagues and the Holiday Hub stuff being a thing is that perhaps we can remove a dxp or two and leave it with nothing or replace one of those dxps with a skilling/combat/D&D week type event
ah, so set the ironmemes on fire đ
Oh yeah rip
I have good news for you
But you could do it, just painful for iron
#social-feed message
Well ill still send it to you 8f you care. Its great for a main if you just want to see numbers go brr on a dxp or something
ye
I think we should remove all FOMO with foam
i think the easiest one would be mining
since you can just fully afk corrupted ore
speaking of which i need to finish the final level for 120
I can;t be bothered, man >.>
120 dung
I like floors lol
finally, somebody with a good opinion
got to 120 with a friend duoing larges a few years back
The only correct opinion
had a great time just cibing
This is what I am talking about. They are saying every vote matters.... BUT IT DOESN"T ONLY THE YES VOTE MATTERS and you can vote "YES" more that once but you can't even vote NO.... So how is this Integrity ? it's not. I except the results I am not arguing about them, but don't tell me every vote matters because it doesn't. It is insult to injury and they can just start removing now. They have no Integrity and if you believe they do wait until they sell the company again and all this is out the window.
Every vote matters. By not voting it's 1 less yes they get
So less resources go into the whole thing
and the other way around aswell. More votes means more focus for it
But you can vot yes more that once
think about how a petition works, you can either sign it or not sign it
Only once but you can vote yes more than once
You are once again feigning ignorance to what server staff has spelled out as simplistic as possible
The surveys prior to this were your chance to vote no
And you are still ignoring my point
No single character can vote more than once.
People in glass houses really shouldnât be throwing stones
The 'point' you are trying to make isn't even a point anymore because it has already been dismantled
Several times over
lets calm down a bit chat
Can you summarize your point? You dont like that there wasnt a no option?
Yes, however there's more. I have been told you can vote Yes on every player you have by rsGuy and others who are connected to Jagex They are encouraging voting more than once. But yet people who want to vote No can't even vote once but this next part is the point I am really trying to make. Making a post saying that every vote counts when one side can vote on every character they have but the other side gets not even one is just wrong and I would say this if it was the other way around and all the experiments went the other way and then they had a "Poll" that feels like an in your face to people who couldn't vote even once when others could vote more times on multi characters and then.... say every vote counts after the fact of the "Poll" passing. That is my issue. Not that MTX/TH is gone I have excepted that.
That yes would win was already a foregone conclusion if there was a no option
I have been told you can vote on every player you have by rsGuy and others who are connected to Jagex They are encouraging voting more that once.
grown adult can't figure out that they did not care if you wanted to vote no, it was happening anyway
wake up
It was happening if it crossed the threshold of 100k votes by November 12th
I fear my alts dung journey
yes that was going to happen (im in favor of it) there is no universe it doesnt hit 100k, im saying there is no point for a no option lol
that's not fear, you're simply shaking with anticipation
hopefully they find a way to fix the ancient dung code and bring it up to modern standards lol
again not my point or maybe it is NO Integrity
the one change i wanna see in dung is the doors, they need to work like gauntlet does
once you've opened a door it becomes part of a seamless interconnected dungeon
That was in response to someone else?
yes
Instructions unclear, removed all doors everywhere
my tomb is on floor 900
And now I'm curious what that original message was
Do the floors go up or down?
yes

just more complaining that it wasn't his original point despite Azanna responding to someone else
Daemonheim Tower Raid: Floor 61 to Floor 900
just more of the same
plz no not while it still makes us strip lmao

Thank you. I was trying to respond to so many comments. Mostly when you say what you think about something on here it can feel like you are being ganged up on from every direction. I can't even type right let alone that I really can't type at all. Didn't grow up with a keyboard in school. anyway ty
@stone gulch the 100k threshold wasnât really a final confirmation vote. It was to judge how excited the community was that TH is being removed. If someone goes through the effort of voting multiple times, that just shows how excited people are.
No need to reopen the same fight now Azanna finally stopped it
Sorry wasnât trying to restart the fight, was just trying to offer clarification.
wait what happened?
discussion on why the vote wasnt a poll but a validation. tldr
đ€Š done
Are you trolling? Used to be 72 hours stretched over one weekend.
I say we remove dxp entirely
Read the rest of the conversation
Instead of tunnel visioning on what I specifically said
I could see DXP getting reduced and/or replaced with like, thoks smashing buffs or other similar events.
I'd rather this tbh the buffs actually got players out and about playing the game in actual areas.
DXP is just players waiting for it always holding supplies until it happens the game should not drive players to delay their progress
It would be funny if next April Fools event involved players logging in to find TH active again with each player having 1 key and if you try to play the TH you just roll a message that says 'Sike, got you'.
I wouldnât be surprised if DXP goes away entirely, or is made into an annual event again instead of whatever the cadence is currently. It makes training skills that are focused on crafting materials feel bad to train outside of it.
DXP is nice for the buyable skills for people who wanna save some money.
Training herblore during DXP a few years ago felt disgusting, I was getting I think like 10m exp an hour doing elder overloads
and yes... I did manage to use up 48 hours during that time
đ
Knowledge bombs each month from premier are whatever
Itâs weird, I donât hate DXP but like I said, it makes training buyables outside of it feel bad
So if it went away I wouldnât be sad
I donât owe you a thousand messages worth of reading. Thank you for your deflection
I imagine it used to make player counts look good
so, what do you guys think will happen?
Good question
Well something tells me treasure hunter is going away
Beyond that, I think other MTX offerings wonât change much
Itâd be nice if they moved the stuff out of Solomonâs Store into the in-game equivalent.
Whatever the Marketplace I think?
I would like to see them look at the default UI first
And redo some of the new player experience. Plleeeeaaaase put new people in Lumby again and not Burthorpe
Itâs weird for returning players to get dropped somewhere else if they played in RS2
If they can revisit the avatar rework that would also be great. People tend to like their player character look nice and they look super dated currently.
But UI and new player experience first
I beg lol
Probably the fact I was responding to this message without pinging because I wasn't home earlier
But yea, I'm 'trolling'
đ„±
i don't agree with this either but i'm starting to see the same arguments over and over again. its like beating a dead horse at this point. -.-
very tiring
It'll be a lot easier to have all these discussions when they give us the big FAQ on the 12th.
100%
there's people trying to bring back the poll argument or pro th arguments. i was saying i don't agree with how this poll was and such but its become a tiresome argument. i know you don't want to keep seeing it over and over again
and just a couple mins ago it seems
yep
unless i missed something. been at work for 9 hrs
i am glad i got to have fun here yesterday though
same
Yes please
NO! I can't believe Jagex did this to us!! This is not fair!!!
I've played Runescape for years and yes, I'll remember this day well: I'll remember it as the last day I ever played Runescape.
question mark
Don't lie now nobody ever quits rs
Months of player feedback, surveys, and results being revalidated?
We need to make a "don't make me tap the sign" meme just for this channel
Technically years, but most thematic ones the last few months
stg
People don't know it was going to happen even if this poll never took place
reading is hard not much anyone can do
starting to think i jynx'd it
Im more stating that jagex has been listening, they just acted upon it
probably lmfao
Jagex can't win ever it seems like :\
can't please everyone
I believe that's what some would call a 'catch 22'?
There's always going to be multiple sides of communities, thus the importance to not instigate or prolong any potential flames even if disagreements arise
Like, a lot in this channel has been common back and forths, even if the same people looping around the same bits.
Some loops between the same people.
i'm glad i got to state my position and even got feedback on how to aid on what to do being time poor
Which is something theyâre also going to be working towards alleviating
Thats good to hear. I'll be anxiously waiting with anticipation
W Jagex. W North. Finally.
I'm here to say some words and I hope a jmod reads this and relays my frustration when it comes to the extended amnesty period. I'm really upset about this to the point it makes my chest tight and hurt that its alarming.
I've been playing runescape for 23 and a half years. Over the last 10 years I've worked towards a plan of getting 200m exp in all skills as the end resulting by making as many skills i can easy to obtain 200m exp. It took dedication logging in every day, doing my 3 challenges and using my 6 keys. Saving oddments to buy keys for holiday events. I put so much work and dedication into my end goal one day at a time.
With that I saved and stacked just over 410,000 proteans, 1,800 skilling dummies, 850 spirit onyx gems, thousands of pulse n cinder cores, 1200 wicked hood teleport tokens, 35k silverhawk downs. The list goes on. I even managed to put bxp in skills to the point where I have enough in the skill to cover 1/3 to 1/2 of the exp I need to get 200m exp in that skill totaling over 520m bxp in my skills.
Now all that planning and work I did every day for years is in jeporady cause your giving me a amnesty period to use those items that I worked so hard for to gain and save to eventually hit my end goal of 200m all. It's even more of a punch to the gut when I've also bought keys here and there when I would get apply gift card for christmas or my birthday or even used my own money after a few weeks of long hours at work to treat myself and make some progress towards my plan.
I have a toddler and a new born baby, a full time job. how am I suppose to find time to use up 410k proteans in your lotted time given. I'm looking at almost 600 hours just for my proteans.
I feel seriously betrayed.
Finally! đđ start grinding them skills
If you haven't used it by now, were you ever really going to use it?
Also, Yknow, wilfully ignoring the mtx experiments and only throwing a tantrum when the hoard is threatened is
A choice
I forgot about the spirit onyx... wait that's obtained in game
Is this a new copypasta?
@clever jasper could it be possible to make dummy processors available during the lotted time period so people like myself who have little time and have amassed many proteans can actually use them. After all i did pay to gain these items.
You might want to reread the server rules about tagging jmods
eh all well worst that happen they bann me i never read all that
Really excited for the 12th!
Sooo, just an observation, but there's a good chance people use alts to throw in a bunch of extra votes.
So people use alternate accounts to change results, which is technically not allowed by the game rules.
đ
One vote per character. Not player. Not account. Those are the rules of the poll. Using alts is allowed.
the harsh truth is that these are items that should have been spent at any opportunity you've had after acquiring them, and definitely should be spent at any opportunity you will have until their removal, allowing instant redemption of their xp would be antithetical to the integrity-first direction the game is heading in
i think a key distinction is also that, while keys may have been bought with the intention to get proteans and dummies, there was never any guarantee that these were the things you would be getting from the keys, so those items have no real quantifiable real world value
it may not be possible to find the necessary free time to use up all of those things, that should have been a consideration when they were purchased, but i highly recommend trying to fit in as much game time as possible if you care enough about them
thankfully for those with time constraints, proteans and dummies are extremely afk so the hurdle for managing your game on your phone or a second monitor while you're working or taking care of life is very low
hoarding is never the answer, i personally only hoard insofar that it lines up with plans for the next dxp, otherwise stuff is getting used right away
I'm against the idea of removing Treasure Hunter and all the mentioned items in the list đą I vote 'No'
Most of the items on the list (at minimum the majority of items that can be gotten outside TH) stay
They just get removed from MTX
The vote is a farce being you cannot vote no
There were half a dozen votes over the past 18 months where you could. Yes won every one of them by an overwhelming margin. This is more a vote of "How much yes?" as a result of those.
and I did "No"
Then you voted for the less popular option, and must now accept that this is how democracy works.
If mtx hadnât won you would not be saying this
bloody remoaners
I started playing in 2004 not long after RS2 was released, and at the time it really stood out from the crowd. You could play the game free and get access to a generous amount of content. You could pay membership and get access to absolutely everything else. No classes, no microtransactions, you were all on a level playing field and could do everything - you'd just have to be prepared to put the effort in.
I remember reading an interview that Mark Gerhard, then-chief executive of Jagex, gave to The Guardian in April 2009 ("Hey kids! Wanna play an MMORPG?") where he said of microtransactions, quote: "...a stealth tax; I prefer to call it death by a thousand cuts... Commercially you can say it's a great opportunity, the way of the future. Ethically you can say it devalues the product."
I remember Squeal of Fortune being introduced in 2012, and the 2014 low-effort attempt to deflect negative opinion by rebranding the goblin with a roulette wheel into a pretty girl with a bunch of treasure chests. Mark Gerhard resigned in December 2013 for reasons never disclosed, working his year contract until December 2014.
I remember the slow creep of limited-edition game-enhancing equipment being dropped into the gambling mechanic for a week or two and then being gone forever, with no way to earn them in-game; a complete betrayal of the principles the game was founded on.
In 2014, I finally got sick of the constant FOMO-driven monetisation (and game updates designed to take exactly the time until the next game update to grind to completion) and dropped my membership.
8 years later, I tried the Amazon Prime free membership option, just to see how much further the game had debased itself since I left. I was shocked: All of the MTX-exclusive equipment was now earnable in-game. I thought Jagex had learned a lesson and turned over a new leaf, so I stuck around.
But the hints were still there over the next 18 months. The new final straw was the Necromancy skilling outfit. Only available by pumping money into the gambling mechanic. They said it would be introduced as earnable in-game in the near future. Now, I didn't need the outfit (already level 120) but on principle it was the same old toxic behaviour. I had 6 months of membership left. I cancelled it and left it to run out, on the proviso I would renew if the outfit showed up in-game, and leave membership cancelled if not. Membership ran out long before it showed up in-game.
As such, I welcome this action being taken. I don't feel Treasure Hunter is a "core" part of the RS3 experience, it's a tumour that's been festering for over a decade and is long overdue being excised. I suspect that this poll is less asking for public assent to implement something, and more trying to create the appearance of assent for taking action that has already been decided, to avoid the historic bad publicity that unilateral actions have attracted in the past. Whether "keep TH" or "lose TH", Jagex would lose some active players, as its popularity is very strongly split along partisan lines. I suspect though this needed to be done for financial reasons to avoid stopping RS3 development altogether. I suspect that initially, RS3 was the cash cow that allowed MTX money to be funnelled into OSRS as a passion project, but now OSRS is the main attraction (Currently 7x more players) and RS3 is a dying ember relying on a few "whales" to keep the lights on while haemorrhaging other players and failing to attract any new audience. Daily RS3 players is on a slow and steady decline and at some point someone needed to steer away from the iceberg or let the ship sink.
i do want to ask this since i am seeing this brought up a lot in the past. people keep saying OSRS has more "players" but i also heard they have bot problems too like 04scape did. is it true and how many of those players are actually bots?
i am not trying to troll just genuinely curious
They do have a bot problem. A guesstimate is their actual active playerbase is 5x RS3
Yes OSRS has more players
Yes they also have many bots
Even with the bots, they got more players. Nobody knows exact numbers. The one given by (now gone from the company) years ago was 15% bots, but who knows to what degree thats true anymore, given the success of the game sine then.
đ
reason for leaving?
FWIW, the outfit -is- now available in game at a really reasonable acquisition method
Genuine thanks for the update - I was aware though, as I have been keeping one eye on things ever since I saw a gaming news article in July reporting Jagex's upcoming "experiments" and the underlying change in corporate attitude regarding microtransactions; the outfit was finally made available a few weeks after that, a good nine months after it vanished from TH.
I'd love to be able to support this game; I think that aside from the constant pushing of gambling mechanics, it's got a great set of core gameplay loops and story progression, the newest skills were entertaining and very different from what had come before, but I'm waiting to see how this plays out - I'd thought before that they'd changed their tune, but I was wrong. How does the proverb go - Once bitten shame on you, twice bitten shame on me, thrice bitten, Stockholm Syndrome? đ
i thought you were going for "once bitten twice shy" for a second lol
Caution is the correct stance
Mixed metaphors - I was trying to avoid "Fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me.. can't get fooled again" đ
Fool me a third time and you're the weather man
the only profession where not getting it right 100% is acceptable LOL
đ
Foul me the fourth time and you're RevU
LMAO
Theyâre also being thanos snapped btw
bless Jagex for finally cutting ties with them
My gut feeling is they're dropping RuneCoins entirely but I haven't seen any jmod say that so >_>
Curse Jagex for getting in bed with them to begin with
Nah
Not with direct sale cosmetics
Direct sale can be exactly that. Direct sale. No intermediary purchase that encourages shady pricing
best part is redditing a specific offer you get
"Get level 500 in this casino app"
-> Reddit says it takes 20 full-time days if you don't wanna buy anything
-> You get 14 days
Then you get scammed through some inane loophole and get nothing
Biggest irk was when you spend half an hour on a "5 minute" survey and they tell you "haha get rekt wrong demographic"
Are you really surprised by that though
As if facebook or any social media akin to it has been a valid or reliable metric
Okay but Zukbot can be safely discarded as irrelevant waffle
I'll pretend I know what that is
Facebook, itâs Zukerbergâs private demesne and full of bots
Is zukbot just an alternative name people call it now or like what
does it do Zuk runs?
Just me, I fucking hate that hellsite
Same with Xitter
More bots than a F2P OSRS moneymaker too
đ
We're more than halfway to maxed now!
This isn't a poll. It only gives us one option to "say yes" or abstain. The threshold is also ridiculously low at 100k. Give us a true vote, yes, or no. Not vote yes, or just shut up and let it happen.
There has been half a dozen actual votes already. "Yes" won every one of them by an overwhelming margin. This one isn't "Yes or no?", but "How much yes?" as a result.
Why is Jagex not giving a NO vote option i think there will much more NO votes on the treasure hunt
There wouldn't. As I said just above this post, they already made several polls and surveys, where both "Yes" and "No" were options. Yes won 100% of the time by an overwhelming margin.
Lol i never did see these polls so they where not that good i think đ
Actually the surveys they ran for the MTX experiments had some of the most amount of folks filling out a survey ever, so they were very good
but i dont get it no treasure hunts so no lamps but we still get the stupid dubble XP weeks why not remove them to
Those are getting decreased starting next year.
i did like lamps for skills i dont like :/ so it get 99 to. maybe its my last months for RS if this stops because some new skills locks places i like to go so why play a game i cant go where i want
The good news for you is that now Jagex has an incentive to make skills fun (to attract more players) rather than tedious (to encourage buying keys).
i did never buy keys lol :S why not REMOVE that option. Ow i know why its REAL MONEY for them
If you didn't buy keys, then why do you care?
You lose nothing, and gain a more fun game.
i lose my daily keys, so no lamps sometimes no lucky item sometimes and sometimes when be very very lucky to get some millions to buy the bods that are TO overpriced if you not have much time to play and dont like bosskills
And once again, I can only bring good news:
Proteans and Lamps disappearing means that people are forced to actually use buyable resources to train artisan skills. This makes gathering skills much more valuable.
proteans i dont care đ only lamps i care to lose đ and the stars to give some more XP when i skill but still dont care what other do i play for what i want so if other want to get 200M XP in no time i dont care why would i even care
What I'm saying is that this makes it MUCH easier for you to save up for bonds than relying on getting 200m from your daily keys.
yeah thats little true but bonds will still be unpossible to get because of the prices of 150M ea and u need 20 every year
and i did never like flight skills
And now we're back to how gathering skills such as Woodcutting, Mining, ect. become more profitable because TH gets removed, making it easier to get 150m in the required time.
What IS impossible, is saving up for bonds through TH without buying huge amounts of keys. On average, you need 220,000 TH keys to get the money for 1 Bond. No way you can get that through regular gameplay.
yeah and i dont go wc for months to get 1 bond lol so still same. think they need to get bonds lower. idk how they can do it but that would be beter i think
Bonds depend on the in game economy. Which should also get better without TH pumping trillions of GP into the game every day.
Reality is that right now, the vast majority of problems with the games boil down to one of two things:
- It's a 25 year old engine that has seen more spaghetti than the average Italian restaurant.
- Artificially manufactured problems, to push players to buy TH keys.
we will see then. same in past i had some things that where much money then it dropped to almost zero
If I had to give a wild guesstimate, I'd say that 40% of the game's problems exist for no other reason than to encourage players to buy keys. And with no keys to buy, these guesstimated 40% of problems suddenly have no choice but to get fixed!
that's not the problem, Jagex has indicated they know this move will cost them money and that's okay
in past you couldn't buy keys
Membership generates money. In fact, it's currently pretty clear that membership generates more than TH. Source: OSRS is far more profitable to Jagex than RS3
i dont want to pay for membership any more because i try to get in game bonds moeny
Yes you could
There was only a 2 month window after the release of Squeal of Fortune during which you couldn't buy spins/keys
After that it's always been possible
đź okay i did never see you could buy keys befor the treasure chests
It's true Jagex was actively dying before Squeal of Fortune, because they had exactly 0 goodwill, and attracted 0 new players.
RS3 is in the same situation right now, primarily because TH exists, the UI and earlygame are bad, and the artstyle is inconsistent.
Jagex have promised to fix each and every one of these issues because this poll passed, so that the game may recover.
we will see then i am done for now đ . Thnx for all explainings. Have all nice day đ
Enjoy yourself
thnx
And thank you for actually listening to what we had to say. Most people complaining just want TH back no matter how much damage it does to the game, and refuse to listen to any counterarguments.
will there be any more th promos after grim harvest or is grim harvest gona be the last?
We don't know yet.
Knowing that changes won't come this year and Christmas on the horizon? Yeah, no. They won't cut TH promos now.
yup. expect them to do the same thing they did this halloween with promos
Hang on... I'm a little late to the party, but FFS this isn't down to player choice when the only option on the ballot is "Yes". Why bother asking @Runescape if you've already decided and chosen your path?
Am I the only one who is appalled at this idea?
Looks like you didnât read the message above yours
Indeed - I've been away a few days and returned to the vote... just read the first few them jumped to today. Sorry.
But, that sounds like such a politicians' answer... designed to deflect. If they are so sure of the way the vote would go, why don't they put the No option up for people to clearly state their choice? Then we'd all be able to see this is a clean, honest process with integrity. Not this muddy charade.
In last 2 years i've personally taken part in 29 different Jagex surveys that had MTX related questions thrown into them. hundreds of no answers were in all of these combined. :\
Came down to the majority who chose over the course of 2 years of wanting it gone
If they are so sure of the way the vote would go, why don't they put the No option up for people to clearly state their choice?
Because this isn't a "do you want th gone or not". It's "Do enough people find this direction good". TH is already doomed by the surveys
having had dozens of opportunities to already say yes or no in surveys, knocking what is essentially just a victory lap feels really weird
Not really. Instead of giving an impotent survey with a single choice of YES, if Runescape gave a No option, they could highlight just how resounding the result was. It would cost them little? in technical terms to offer a No vote, so it can only look negative to avoid doing it. Leaves one asking, 'What are they so afraid of?' Do a proper victory lap (if that's really what it is) by giving a meaningful metric. Or don't give a vote at all. But don't make up this BS 'We're listening' nonsense then give no option to say No.
It seem like the answers for why something isnt a poll isnt enough to convince people why its not a poll.
Iiwii.
I do believe that's what we in the business would call 'copium'
Going back through all the surveys I ever did they had a TOTAL of 179 different types of no answers to TH being removed between 29 different surveys in the last 2 years.
not mentioning the 83 different boxes where additional information was and could be provided about why you chose the answers you did
And despite all that, across all 29 surveys, "Yes" has a perfect win rate of 29/29
I have zero belief that "no" vote would get 100k, much less in roughly a day like "yes" did
If we assume the same ratio as the Game News post, as of right now "no" would have had ~28570 votes.
I think yes and no as options would have been a lot more fun lol
Nah, itâdâve just fanned flame wars forever
Even if we assume the same ratio as this thread (which is HEAVILY skewed in the direction of pro-THers, as they come here to complain), it'd be at ~97136
However, if we use the other extreme, and look at the poll result that was most anti-TH, it'd only be at ~18839
Unironically I think a "no" vote would only have a chance to succeed if it was brigaded by a troll vote in some other community
Probably
I dont think most people know this thread even exist
Or if this was a game primarily played in Asia. Apparently they don't have nearly as big issues with P2W, Lootboxes, ect. there as in the West.
That was the first ratio I used. Then multiplied the ratio at the time to the ratio of the poll at the time, and got ~28570 hypothetical "No" votes
As I said, fun đ
...can't say that's wrong. As frustrating as it can be when pro-MTXers keep spouting the same arguments, not listening to any counterarguments, and doomsaying, it is also more entertaining than silence.
lol is there really still people trying to convince us that TH shouldnt be canned?
If you run out, I can switch sides if thereâs enough demand
they need the support
Itâs entertaining to watch people win random stuff
And to bring cosmetics down to 1gp nis
ooooh theres 1gp cosmetics
Nis too, which means they could be bought at 1gp without a wait lol
i never bought keys and barely log in, and i have this much stuff, kinda silly this is all really good xp, and it's free and it's afk
similar boat
and thats the problem
Free is still part of the problem
so what's gonna happen to w84fort with portables gone ?
You might find out on the 12th
You might find out later
We have access to the same blogposts as you and none of them answer the question you have
Instead of removing the treasure hunter items from the game, why not just make them obtainable as minigame rewards?
Depend on the item
Some items should be removed outright as they do not fit the game at all
Expect skilling outfits to stay, including those on minigames
Expect proteans to cease
Proteans don't fit into the game even if they're earned?
If people spend their game time earning pulse cores or proteans then I don't see why they can't remain in the game
and I just got 5.8b xp very recently so I'm not biased either way
besides, I don't think it's right that people have the stuff forcefully taken from them, if they have it then let people use it in their own time
there doesn't need to be a hard cut-off date where they're removed for good from the game
Yes. Too many of these systems completely bypass normal gameplay loop and economy
Some treasure hunter items like springs, notepaper and silverhawks have gameplay-derived variants. You can use invention to make tight springs and enchanted notepaper. Silverhawk down can be obtained at a rate of 35 thaler per 10 down.
The question to be asked is whether it would be good for game integrity and game balance for certain rewards to be added to minigames or if they should continue to exist at all. Tight springs and enchanted notepaper will probably continue to exist. Silverhawks and Silverhawk Down is a lot more iffy and Jagex will likely ask themselves if Silverhawks need to exist and whether they could just remove them but improve agility in some manner.
Springs and notepaper already has gameplay source through invention
Silverhawks... it wouldn't surprise me if those cease or get changed
(and if so, I assume 120 agil/agil rework gets bumped up in priority fast)
I'd like to see agility as a skill get reworked a bit when they do it's 110/120 update
They're doing a thieving rework lite with 120 thiev right now
Catch rate rebalance
Completely rework chest
Fixing ibis rates + Pyramid plunder less clunky
XP rebalance
huge
you also don't bring in any resources either by using these you skip the levels needed for certain resources so you can just access higher tier resources hurting the economy overall.
Why wasn't this a yes or no poll?
Did Jagex plan this all along and know 100,000 people vote for it anyway?
giving the illusion of player choice?
Yeah it was all a conspiracy
It's not a conspiracy...
That's what they want you to think
No but seriously, if you haven't added your name to the tally, go do it!!
Seriously, I don't get why they polled it the way they did, there's just over 100k saying yes but there could be 200K wanting to say no.
given 78% of survey respondents said they want it gone, that seems unlikely
And Jagex won't let them say no
i would like to direct you towards the most recent pinned message in this channel as well
everyone had hundreds of no options in last 2 years in surveys alone
Were those surveys binding?
depends on your definition of binding
it would seem quite stupid on the part of jagex to not act in the direction of what an almost 4/5th majority would want you to do
Binding like a contract, i.e. if you ask for this then we WILL do it.
also they were willing to risk it with this vote
the current vote isn't either if that's what you mean
"With 100,000 votes, this vote will pass. Every additional vote will act as a clear signal of how far you think we should take these plans"
That reads pretty clear cut to me
sure, but that's not contractual in any way, they could simply choose not to
they won't for the same reason they they're not defying survey results
RS3 players don't have veto power in the same way OSRS players do. This was a time to cheer for the new change, and if it was met with silence, the leadership would have changed plans
do you believe that if the option existed there would be 100k "no" votes?
No, but that's not a reason to not give people the option to say no
its not that kind of vote
this vote is not depicting the removal of TH it was confirmed it would be removed when North took his position
this just clarifies that its going in that direction
What would happen if it didn't reach 100K votes?
it would still get removed lol
so the vote is pointless?
now you're getting it
yuppers
its a publicity stunt
Funnily enough, this is somewhat of a good thing though. Osrs players denied updates of almost all kinds for years, and are easily mislead into voting against their best interests by content creators.
i still cry for warding
Players are not good game devs.
đ«Ą
I didnt really like any of osrs's skill suggestions
But it seems like they are doing good with sailing
if sailing ever comes out
if it was up to me, they would have had both warding and shamanism at this point
alas, not the correct timeline
Was sailing even pushed back? I dont think it was ever supposed to come out earlier than now
its coming out in 2 weeks
I think astrology seems more appealing as a skill than sailing
Yeah, thats what i thought
Astrology just doesnt sound interesting at all to me.
What would the gameplay loop even be?
Connect the dots minigames?
i think melvor has given me a terrible impression of astrology and i'm still thinking in association to that
more of a space exploration theme
melvor astrology is a disaster
different planet to teleport to
But how would it be space exploration? Thats not astrology.
Astrology is looking. Not exploring.
You're asking me like I've got the whole thing planned out lol
Using a telescope to search for new planets to unlock and visit
there's a possible skill there
forgive me if the mechanics aren't quite apparent
I mean astrology itself doesnt really have anything to do with going to space. Its the study of celetrial objects and movement of those from earth
Yeah, but it doesnt sound runescape at all, and would be effectively the same as sailing, other than theme (which going to space isnt really good in a medieval game)
Space sailing!
Bard >>> everything else
the space we're getting is very wet
Astromancy has been kinda teased recently especially the star sprite quest
didn't we just get a brand new quest that covered this?
Yeah, though i really hope we arnt going in that direction here.
â€ïž
At least its unlikely, since we have new areas planned short term
We donât really know what the new skill will be
And know what they are
But kinda like Necro there are potentially hints
Nah, we dont. Could make some guesses on what it likely isnt
Sailing has its own movement
honestly i'm kinda open to rs3 getting sailing too
Hard to explain concisely
And loads of mechanics on water
Id just look at videos if you want that info, its hard to explain
I hope not, as much as Iâd like to see Kourend/Varl in rs3 Iâd rather the two games went different ways
Nah, i kinda hate sailing. Its so... bad, really.
I like it more than i thought i would, but thst being said, thats not much.
Its kind of like a much better dungeoneering, which is a really low bar
Mechanics to go places and unlock new areas/stuff
But the actual skill mechanics arnt terrible.
Players gave us waterfall fishing >.>
Power to the Players soured me on polling the morons that make up the community forever
Even that, suggestione are great, but thek steerong the direction entirely is bad
Waterfall is only bad because theres nothing really useful there
Roger Meyers Jr. makes Ralph cry
You unlock and go
#1433140583169392660 message
its likely that the 'poll' was mostly just for show anyways. they likely knew that 100k votes would pass
the fact that its easy to exploit further shows that, but it makes it look more rigged. fact is, this was happening either way, because the majority of people want it.
Ya it's more of a victory lap and pr move to bring attention to players who quit ages ago
And players from other MMOs too
Hey everyone. I need to clear something up, so obviously we're going to have an amnesty period to use up our TH skilling items.
But one of the experiments in the TH removal thing is that TH items no longer work during dxp week. So if I have proteans stored up, I understand I would be able to keep them and continue using them, but has there been any information on whether this amnesty would cover being able to use proteans during dxp week as they were originall designed to be able to do?
im betting they did it to make people feel like it was more of a choice for those that disagreed, but the illusion of that funnily enough does the opposite.
from the start of the experiments, they specifically stated that there would be 1 more dxp event to use them in before they go
im not sure if thats happened or not, but they said that. one experiment was none for an event, which doesnt count obviously
Oh did they? I wasn't aware. Damn it
Okay, hopefully they're a little lenient with us because I have literally never touched my proteans.
True, thanks for anwering anyways!
well, either way, better to use them if you care. though, skills are great nowadays, they are hardly necessary
Use red immediately and save blue for dxp
true but i just for some reason let them pile up and now i'm sad i didn't use them up lol
for sure, thats the plan
sorry, a little but off topic not sure where else to ask cause the appropriate update chat is not active. Is there another chance to get the haunted whetstone this event?
to be fair if you let them pile up were you ever going to use them in the first place
lol very true but it won't stop me from regretting it
anyone know whether next sunday works as well?
The next dxp this month you'll atleast be able to use them. Any dxp afterwards is unknown
i doubt there will be any more after this month.
to use mtx stuff on, i mean. dxp isnt going anywhere, though its also kind of a similar problem (but likely a seperate conversation)
If you're F2P, you should save up proteans and other MTX items for DXP regardless if they're regular or unstable proteans.
Why does it matter for unstable proteans that they save them for dxp?
remove th keys I understand but why are items that can be earned from regular gameplay with minigames also removed? especially the skilling outfits - who would touch minigames at all anymore without these available? will all minigames be removed as well?
*Removed from sale
Not necesarily from the game
Because it's the only time for them that BXP can be used up, so you prefer to use your big bucks for then. You don't care much whether it is 10% bonus for unstable or 20% bonus for regular, it's about that 100% from BXP.
That is frankly my biggest criticism on the whole MTX thing lately. Jagex seems to be focused to reduce the impact of MTX, focusing more on the BXP part, as well as potentially changing up DXP in general, making consuming said BXP for F2P harder to do (increased FOMO). I know it's just F2P, but it's still an audience to think about.
And the "sale" is just the mtx sale ( which yeah most outfits haven't been there for a long time"
the text says "will no longer be obtainable or sold' , i.e. they're removed from the game entirely
And clarifications given by jmods say other things đ
And the whole blog is really just about obtainable through mtx things anyways
Doign a search for "obtainable" on the site doesn't even return anything to me
I obtained my slayer masks from shattered worlds, my skilling outfits each from the respective minigames (from gnome cooking to stealing creation) and via invention
And neither slayer masks or outfits are goign anywhere
It actually means that certain items are no longer obtainable entirely and certain items remain, but are not sold anymore.
aka outfit and masks remain obtainable through other methods like SW and invention, whereas other items, possibly proteans and the like, will no longer be obtainable.
so when I have all slayer masks and Skilling outfits, I get to keep them, but other players have to hurry to get theirs before the change or they'll never have them? sounds very unfair
#social-feed message
AH the wording on the vote page is different. Ofcourse it would be đ
No
As i said multiple times. They will stay ingame
The way they are
As far as we know with things said by Hooli ( and /or other jmods on reddit )
why can't they be clear in writing for once
"not obtainable" is very much the opposite of "stay in game unchanged"
https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/a=13/vote-on-the-future-of-treasure-hunter-mtx--runescape
this post has the "updated" wording on it. The vote page you're looking at just wasn't updated when they fixed the other one
oof that sounds even worse "many of these items will no longer be available via gameplay either", and "amnesty period ... not items like slayer masks or skilling outfits"
even more ambiguous
đ€·ââïž at some point it's the readers fault
Especially if you just quote parts of different sentences to make it look bad
I think everything that was obtainable also for irons should remain obtainable
why can't they clearly state that?
Because then nothing would be removed except portables
proteans , portables and dummies and silverhawks
and lamps from sources other than pengs and quests
and pulse cores and processors
and wildcards
maybe dwarven tools too
Theres ways for some of those like pulsecores to be obtained by ironman
First, my opinion is, that presetting "Yes" for an poll, such like for an important feature is not the best way, better voting explicitly "Yes" or "No". Second, some items like "Deathtouched Darts" are not only from Treasure Hunter and should not be removed.
I assume we'll get more clarification on the 12th
i dont think they said deathtouched would go, did they? but either way, an item that instantly kills any boss is bad for the game and should go anyways
It's on the list of "items to be removed form sale" aslong with many other items that may or may not be fully removed from the game
ah yeah, fair. id argue that it definitely should stay
Alot of items need more clarification if they just get removed from direct purchases or everywhere like they did with skilling outfits
just because it was never a good idea to begin with. i dont think theres really any reason for it to exist
I know it was said that list was being worked on but it just can't come soon enough đ
yeah. people are overreacting about so many unknowns xD
I wouldn't mind them being gone since any recent bosses don't allow them to be used anymore anyways
thats even more telling, really
devs have probably not wanted em in for ages, but it was likely put in by marketing to make money
For sale refers to MTX sale, such as DTD from TH. I don't see them removing DTD from stuff like traveling merchant, unless they have different plans to announce the 12th đ€
So they arenât removing cheese right
... cheese?
All cheese will now be untradable, and only harvestable one cut at a time. You wont be able to make more wheels until each slice is ate, and all existing rolls will overmature and be uncuttable, existing slices will mold and you toss em on sight
At least thats what i'd do
Nooo not my 2147m stack of Cheese Wheels!
Sorry. The cheese is unsalvageable!
We've now passed 119k. Less than 1000 until we can get that Master Anti-P2W Cape!
Nobody tell them.
oh i was just memeing, so people would speculate what a potential cape may look like lol
Some molds are edible
Oh
hope you get residuals for this april fools 2026 contribution
The safe assumption is gameplay sources will stay - unless itâs things like proteans and portables
200M ANTI-MTX HERE WE COME
Protean will work on the dxp this nov
got it, but we're unclear about where it goes from there?
Nov 12 and all will be clear! (Hopefully)
If 99k = 99, then 126k something would be 200m
Fingers crossed we can do it.
Great FAQ. I especially hope Lucky items all just get converted to cosmetic overrides and become available in another fashion. They're unique looking and would be nice to retain even if the stats are fully removed and the items get changed to just cosmetic.
Feels a tad unfair though that somebody bought it with money, and its going to be taken from them. I dont understand how lucky items hurt the game
I mildly dislike that wildcards are on the list, I think they'd make sense as reward space for slayer directly
strongly dislike them taking aim at aura refreshes in the potential list >.>
Its kinda funny how they said they'll rebalance everything after the removal cause i recall saying the same thing that they will need to rebalance everything and yet i got pushback from it
If thats the case it could signal we may have a few dxps to use them too which is nice
Repeat for all the "what its going to be replaced with" questions and doomsaying
The answer is: nothing. Nothing is replacing the MTX thats going away, beyond bxp bundle and cosmetics.
They might remove aura refreshes?
Removing lucky items should come with the cash to replace them with the real item, many times I've gotten the drop and then sold the real item because I had the lucky item which came from twitch prime rewards, that would have been rolled against coins, if the coins we won from it aren't removed, then the items should be compensated.
Ahh that makes it more understandable, thank you!
They may change auras entirely, auras are part of the gameplay integrity roadmap
That'd be interesting to see
No February DXP event but there's usually one in November, so I'm assuming that one also isn't happening
november is happening
Lmao just read that line, must have missed it, oops
They should move the dates for dxp imo to better line up with school vacations. Kids in the US typically have a Christmas vacation and are done for June and July. Having DXP there would definitely maximize player count
Regarding fresh start servers:
why are aura refreshes being removed?? u can buy them from wars
I think it's currently the way it is to better line up with the fact they're UK based and the summer school holidays are in August
When is their summer vacations?
Typically mid-late July to the start of September
Oh that works. Where i live is usually end of June to beginning of September. Southern states i think go a month earlier
good
I hope they do something about raising the max amount on the high scores. Not really fair to have thousands of people who used all their free xp to max out while the rest of us will have to grind to get there.
The game's 25 years old, with all due respect whining about the top of the highscores is utterly irrelevant
Front page hiscores on every skill has happened during MTX embargoes or predate mtx
the 5.8s will become 6.0s after the next skill
New skills have had 6 month embargo on any and all MTX skill for many skill releases by now
that too
and of course, real old skills had 200ms before mtx happened
So yeah, thousands of people got 200m for their top rank before any "free xp to max out" even became available
necro, arch, inv etc
i am going to be DISTINCTLY unhappy with my loss of lucky barrows gear. we should get bare minimum of cosmetic refunds of lucky items that are going to get taken away. i was chasing those items for years "only to have them now say, sorry, this isnt part of integrity, yoink"
also, being completely clear about this, i was quite firmly of the opinion that it was the proteans, the straight exp, and the bonus exp stars that should have gone out the window. lucky armor/weapons was doing nothing wrong to the game.
bxp stars are staying
Theyâve seen the feedback on lucky items & are looking at it
The -items- are the issue but that doesnât mean they wonât bring a cosmetic solution
we should get bare minimum of cosmetic refunds of lucky items that are going to get taken away.
Jagex is aware of this one ^^
Yep, we'll go away and look at what we can do here. The item is the bit that's important to remove, but we've taken the feedback on about keeping the cosmetic look of them accessible (and their role in Fashionscape!).
-Mod Hooli
oops Ballor beat me to it, ty đ
You had more detail đ
I'm sure this has been asked plenty, What happens to items we already own? Magic notepapers are on the removal and I use them alot for mining ores..
Aura rework probably
Time to start using signs of the porter instead
Removal from mtx sale list but not on removal from game list, last I checked
Correct
Ok kinda what I was expecting
regarding giving back keys till premier members ends
if i renew my prem rn would that also apply for another 365 keys or is this for old premier memberships only?
Should still count
For the 2025 Premier Membership year, at some point before TH is removed, you'd be given all of the daily TH keys you would've logged into to get all at once.
Thatâs YOUR opinion. Maybe they should just get rid of everything YOU irrelevant, because youâre alll that matters.
Not sure whose comment you're replying to there
lets not make it personal against each other
It'd be cool to have new servers with new hiscores but I don't see that happening
Altering existing hiscores doesn't seem tenable
aye, confirmed it's not gonna happen ^^
People like inverted skillcapes (maybe not so much once they become more common), wonder if they are still returning in 2026
January with the anniversary
After checking the list of items to go from game I'm in a arghhhh this is real! There is no way I could use up these items. They didn't come with an expiry date. So I'm very intriguing to know how they will reimburse.
those capes do be pretty
Itâs probably a year
1st January 2027
is the provisional thanos snap
with potentially a well of integrity style event for a mass use-up earlier
You have a little under 1 year and 2 months to use up all of your proteans, skilling dummies, and everything else
I'd be happy to have my account set back to make up for the free MTX samples from over the years. But I know people that got all 99s or higher before SoF, and don't want to split off from them.
The problem for me is I don't want to just drop everything to just use the items up. I want to play to enjoy. A year of pain doesn't entice me. I've never been one for grinding.
By contrast I wouldn't be willing to be set back (I didn't buy keys but 12 years of daily adds up đ€·ââïž ) with my first 99 right around the release of keepsake keys
Nothing stopping you from making a new account for yourself to play on đ
Removing EXP would be a no-go, I'm sure, because beyond removing stuff from people's banks in a year which you can see people already complaining about, removing the progress they already got with their wallets would probably cause even more player count problems lol.
Alot of players have progress from years of using th without ever using our wallets to buy more keys
I wouldn't support removing xp from anyone else, just from my account. I'm one of the zealots that detroyed SoF tokens on release week, adjusted to the changed game, and am gonna let the proteans and processors get vaporized in my bank
But yeah resetting anything people already got is a huge no
yeah. taking away progress is an absolute non-starter, but I see your point
at the same time differentiating even just free keys from training is almost certainly impossible and never tracked
We're nearly at 120k!!
If anyone had maxed a skill back then it was only a few people. Certainly not thousands. Skilling was a real time consuming grind.
although true, its also the a reality that mtx isnt going to be what puts you on the front page when a skill comes out. embargos lasting 6 months and all
As much as I feel that TH has ruined the game, I admittedly am going to miss the daily and quest keys.
Free gear id say directly relates to the same problems any exp does, even if its mostly cosmetic at this stage. They'd be taking the OGs place from the economy and are direct power.
But yeah, i agree they should be given as a cosmetic.
And i dont think many people actually care about high scores anymores anyways, nor should they. Is anyone impressed at 200mil exp, even if you assume no mtx were used?
Not sure if this is the right place to discuss, but the list of removed items includes Mimic Kill Tokens, which are naturally obtained via killing monsters/skilling, is there a reason for that?
As far as I'm aware, Mimic rewards don't include anything outright MTX
And aren't monster wildcards also obtainable from Rush of Blood in Prifddinas?
Currently unknown. But it looks like they're planning to either rework or remove the Mimic.
In other news, Anti-TH Master Cape unlocked. 6k-ish until we hit that precious 200m!
Wildcards are on the list because theyâre going to look at fixing the problem the cards solve
Potentially obsoleting them
Oh I see
Democracy allows you to have a choice, this vote is not a choice
#1433140583169392660 message
29 opportunities to say "No" in 179 different answers, and 83 opportunities to explain why over the past 2 years. "Yes" had an overwhelming win over "No" every single time.
And that's why this one isn't "Yes or no?", but "How yes?".
yeah, the whole thing might feel bad, but really, it isnt decided by this vote.
it was decided ages ago
and this is a poor way of actually giving people the feeling of agency, because the devs knew it would pass already.
either way, the data speaks MUCH louder, which they were transparent about
laughs in osrs original vote
Remember mtxâs (the wheelâs) original vote?
unfortunately... But, it was just around for such a long time so many people got used to it down to the point where people that dont even play knew about how bad it was being shoved in the players face but yeah im just joking around here nothing serious!!!
I donât think there was one, they just put it in despite already charging membership
To be fair, Jagex was near bankrupt at the time, and needed to do something. Now, Jagex is not near bankrupt, and need to make the game good again.
I donât mind the bonds
A game needs some type of mtx unfortunately that just cant be avoided, but to the extent it was offered was definitely questionable
I meant the wheel
Apparently it was so bad, they couldn't afford to ban bots, because it'd be too big a loss of membership revenue back in 2011-2012
Mtx isnt being removed. Its th and a good list of mtx items
You can buy bxp in the near future
It's not a poll if there's only one choice.
Yeah yeah we know people don't like the semantics
We all know what it is meant to be so let's just get over it since jagex explained in detail what the whole poll/vote/petition whatever you want to call it is
I remember operation clusterflutterer im not sure thatâs accurate
Oh yeah, that was a thing! But I also heard that Jagex was close to closing their doors, and that's why they added Squeal of Fortune in the first place.
Oh wow. So Squeal of Fortune saved rs.
If what I heard is true, yes.
âYou either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain.â - Yelps
Weird, he died a villain
didn't live long enough to become anything
I have been saying this the whole time. It is a fixed vote, NOT a true fair vote. It does not matter though, it is rigged to make players THINK our vote matters so jagex can do what they originally planned on doing. PS, it worked lol, Players think their vote matters. Either way, Runescape is my all time fave game so it will just take some getting used to the new changes as it has always been. đ
the 29 surveys said we wanted it gone. the validation vote said we wanted it gone. everyone wants it gone.
it wasnt a poll.
I do hope this brings better tidings overall
yes, bad move on making it a vote, even if its overall a great move to remove th and everyone else. someone made a dumb decision, but at least that dumb decision was the least important part about the whole thing
Not even dumb, this way has the best chance of reaching lapsed and potential players
No point making a big change if the players youâre looking to attract donât hear about it
hm, you have 'a' point there, but im not sure it would be as much, or even more of an impact than an actual vote. i imagine it would have the same reach, but now instead of 'player agency is taking away mtx?' we have KEKLOL
Only amongst salty whales
Outside our bubble Iâd expect it to sit somewhere between players are leading the removal of mtx and neat publicity stunt getting the players involved
from what ive seen from osrs players, they are mostly laughing at it.
the problem is, its so obviously not player agency.
it is, but the 'poll' itself isnt
Eh, who gives a shit what the OS players are saying
-shrugs- they are somewhat important.
Theyâve taken any excuse to bash rs3 for years
it depends on which osrs players for sure
the ones im specifically talking about arnt that antagonistic
The important part is getting the news out of the rs bubble entirely
people out of that bubble likely dont know or care much about the mtx, or they do and avoid mmorpgs like the plague (as they are always p2w of some kind via RWT at best)
but all those new people mostly go to osrs from my perspective, because of how many osrs players and people in general inside the bubble say about rs3.
so yeah, they are kind of important.
Bluntly, no theyâre not. Between tribalism sunk cost and generally being the worst community in gaming (I played league I donât say that lightly), the vast majority of OS players would not touch rs3 if you paid them. If the potential conversion is 0, they literally do not matter.
completely disagree.
theres definitely a bunch of haters, and they are probably quite loud. but they arnt the majority of people there
ive had loads of nuanced valuable discussion even on the discord talking about both games.
You have a lot more faith in the dumpster fire than I do
faith? no. i just dont generalise the entire audience on the words of a few loud people
My experience has been consistently too negative to bother with
it depends where you go.
To the point I regret voting yes on the creation poll
problem with osrs is the foundations it was made on. made by devs that hated rs3 so much, that they were allowed to publicly shit on the game, under the same company for ages. it was extremely unprofessional.
and then how many of those were involved in behind the scenes corruption? lol
match fixing, ect
Fuckin Jed and whatâs his face the Audi guy
yeah, it was a few. but thats what the foundation was built on. but its been getting better all the time, since they've been gone.
Much as I could continue this discussion I need to try and get back to sleep and our experience is fundamentally different
yeah, absolutely do that. health is extremely important.
Some of my friends are happy about th removal and are actually planning on coming back
Incl those from xiv and gw2 who were disgusted by the lootbox aspect
Probably in Feb tho cus rn new gw2 expansion and Jan-Feb is new raid month on ffxiv
But soon
wish gw2 felt better for oce đ
youch
No matter where I go what game I play
Runescape kinda sucks now, looking at that massive list of items that will be discontinued... makes the game a bit of a bummer... traveling merchant isn't fun to chase... death darts are on the chopping block... mtx is a gonner, portables that were popular are on the chopping block... according to the article, not even considered for invention... some of the more popular items that people liked in the game are now being axed from gameplay... wow just wow
Merchant is very easy to just track in an fc or Discord server to
portables they can for example can be reworked in skilling areas
but guess we will need to wait on the update and see what happens đ
Sadly just because something is popular doesn't make it good for the game.
Pretty sure TH was "popular" as in it was used alot but we all know it wasn't really that great
the mtx "experiment" was very much rigged by bot farmers... not regular players... the yes vote proved it
Just no
Just because the outcome isn't as you like doesn't mean it's rigged or botted
yeah, you gonna make statements like that at least back it up with a source
The hole thing is rigged by farming bots... just wait and see... the rise of farming bots and the grand exchange prices will skyrocket.
wut
If you wanna spread blatant misinformation, go elsewhere
I have been here since beta.. I have seen how botting ruined the game early on... prices in GE were astronomical..
MTX and botting are COMPLETELY unrelated
Can't come soon enough. 4 dxps a year is overkill
Would be alot better for the game to have more diversity in events
Like the [[winter weekends]] or other similar things
Wiki links found:
https://runescape.wiki/w/Winter_Weekends
Lego I agree with you on 4 dxp... it used to be 2 per year to tame GE prices
I'm not gonna ask again. If you're gonna make statements like that, back it up with sources or quit the intentional misinformation
an average of 5k players per day on runescape suddenly blows up for 100k votes in 12 hours. Posts on reddit invite non players to vote yes on ending mtx... its all over the internet skulls..
with some reddit votes up to 50k people upvoting]
And back when squesl of fortune was introduced was a tool that andrew gower used to battle farming bots. I was there....
The website doesn't show unique logins, and the poll is open for osrs players (who may have left rs3 because mtx) as well as players who may not actively play because they disliked the MTX.
I was closely monitoring it from 35k onwards every10s and there wasn't any abnormal surges or signs of macroing, if anything there was a higher average if less than a vite per second average than any other category, and many instances of 0 votes over a 10s span
As for monthly unique character logins, it far surpasses the 100k needed for the poll too.
and how many new players registered during that time frame?
Exactly
According to runepixels, there's ~227K unique players that gained XP this year
And even then this is still well under the actual numbers
And thats purely the RuneScape side
*unique characters.
While not everyone plays 30 characters we shouldn't forget altscaping exists. Unless we know that they track like unique ips or somethign
yeah, my bad sorry, I could've worded that better
I assume runepixels also can't track xp gains in 200m skills?
It cannot As no highscore changes occur, as well as others under the threshold to be on the highscores
All I am trying to do is make sense into this "experiment", I have been gaming on runescape since beta.... nothing is computing.
Thats because you're stuck believing squeal was an anti-macro event
even a few other players that I started out with are scratching heads
Which is incorrect, as it had no direct relation to clusterflutterer like players tried to push
no squeal replaced the much hated sleeping bags... lol
sleeping bags sucked... lol
Yeah. They did
jages should bring back sleeping bags
Sleeping bags were gone eons ago because they were makeshift captchas. Which didn't work when injection clients started being a thing.
Squeal was just a money making opportunity, nothing to do with bots. It came out in a similar era as the bot nuke, but thats the same as saying jagex added drygores because rune armours stayed BiS in classic as an honor symbol and they wanted to remove them from the game.
jagex did alot of things to stop botting, squeal was started during osrs, and when rs3 came to light they clamped down hard on bots and market stablization..... I am just hoping that removing mtx does not skyrocket the GE... that is all I am concerned about.
#MakeRuneGreatAgain
If it does skyrocket ge prices they can just make supplies drop more oftne again
If prices become problematic
That doesn't mean MTX is a result of botting or made to combat it.
Thats just personal correlation by assumption
Mtx was a tool to combat botting and ge prices... they just got carried away with the junk they put in it.
If anything mtx and it dropping all the cash prices helped making everything more expensive because inflation and stuff
if anything proteans are a worse offender to GE prices, imo
for each protean hide you use, you don't use gems or other crafting materials -> their price drops since the demand can't keep up with all the supply from PvM (eg dragonstones from arch glacor)
It's like saying that runelite caused mtx in RuneScape because 3rd party devs made some skilling method easier to process, and swapping enabled a link of some sort to make people buy runecoins for an outfit.
proteans and dummies both suck... I was suprised when I came back after a 7 year break to see them.. .even silverhawks...
death darts are a hot topic too.... they should remain in game... for players that have a hard time figuring out bossing
I agree 100 percent on proteans skulls.. .they should have never been brought into the game
Darts shouldn't exist for people that can't figure out how to kill bosses. There should be a better way for people to learn bosses or combat in general to help them do the content
Lego... I have to admit... after fighting general grandoor in that cave in faldor 50 times... I used a death dart to finally finish that quest... it was a relief.... I continued to play, instead of throwing my laptop out of the second story window! lol
That quest still haunts meh!
but, I still say darts should be allowed ingame...
what part of the game is actually worse due to the mtx removal? curious
hard to see this as anything but a troll
The mtx part of it
yeah, like.. if thats it, they should just pay someone to make a program overlay thats literally just a win button that shows a cosmetic fanfare every time you click it
and then you can 'win' in every game
or even better, watch youtube videos and play that to feel good about yourself.
I remember my first amba kill
8 mins, masterwork and fury blades with ripper
Every wipe I thought I should dtd the rotten bastard
I grit my teeth, figured out the fight and won
yeah, the satisfaction on clearing things is great.
overcoming challenge is that satisfaction. you dont get that if something is easy
Even in other games, always fun to get over adversity through bashing my skull at it
While DTDs don't work against all the recent bosses they caused a ton of harm to the ones that do like amba
However pernix chaps meme is hilarious
yeah, its like the problem has been known about for ages
but people unwilling to even really interact with the game at all are the ones wanting this stuff left in
pay to not play the game
I'm sorry, i just woke up, read what i missed, got an instant migraine from it....
Rip
same
Same
This is grossly incorrect. Please go look at misplaceditems for better player count numbers.
EOC usually averages 20-30k players depending on time
RS3 literally has roughly 100k daily players
This week's weekly hiscore hasn't even ran 16 hours yet (and only updates when players log out, plus we're not at peak hours for EU or US for the day)
and it already features 68.5k players
Last weeks hiscore (for the 7 days)? 154k players
*characters. Not necessarily different players.
Last month? 233k players, not including any leagues
Minor detail the haters will use to try and invalidate your words đ
True, though of course there are some players like everyone that has maxed their skills also missing. Or anyone just playing leagues
Bonds were the tool, I donât think the squeal was him
Its just silly to hear people say oh the game has 5k players or 15k players or whatever
Yeah but with all the "this 1 word isn't correct so everything being said is wrong or rigged" it's important to be as correct as possible with word choices đ
its not rooted remotely in reality
Alot of silly things are being said.
Timeframe matters too. My comment was regarding in a 4 hour timespan or however misplaced items reports it đ
Misplaced items is "currently online"
Correct.
Doesnât it report it in intervals of 4 hours at a time?
Or is it like actively updated every minute?
RS3*
The EoC was an update, the game is RS3
Yeah I concur with the earlier sentiment that waking up and reading all that gave me a headache
This is misinfo directly. Theres a concurrent playerbase of about 20-30k players with 200k(lowpoint) a month. I hope youve learned something at least.
This is also actively wrong. Andrew Gower left 1-2 years before the introduction of SoF. MMG is on the record highlighting SoF and Solomonâs as purely additional revenue streams, nothing more nothing less
I was also there, what youâre thinking of a Bonds which were directly added to combat RWT
Man watching this thread has been a great
For me
The only thing that suprises me is that, when the poll was announced, so many people i normally dont see around here just crawled out of wherever they were to complain about the removal
Would our hatred of the MTX be a community-earned trait?
Actually, let me swap the relation: Would not participating in the community make you more prone to MTX?
Probably
Ngl the average casual player thatâs stuck around really doesnât care about game integrity
Why should they theyâre happy with what they have
All I wish for this game is to have a bit
Just a tad little bit
Of what guild wars 2 has
A place where you do a party of like, 11 people, all go fishing in the desert and, out of boredom, start chatting about music
(Also a decent party finder lmao)
I'm not sure if they've proposed the best way to do this, and I'm still hella confused about the elite outfits.
But ey the less bankstanding the better
Also I hold deathtouched darts when i'm after the hexhunter bow if the veil ripper ozhakxnjshduck spawns >:(
What are you confused about with the outfits?
you still keep earned skilling outfits and can get all of them in-game, they just wont be available via mtx
The entire Style-Bane Weapons system needs to be reworked in my opinion. They used to be BiS on-target until the Shard of Genesis Essence released since t100 weapons beat style-bane even against the intended target, not even including special attacks. The style-banes take longer to get than a t95 + SoGE. Probably several more issues people have mentioned that Iâm not even thinking of. Reworking the style-banes needs its own #1019643494429642872 thread honestly.
certain bane weapons are still bis for the mobs they work on. some limitations do apply. the dragonbane 2h for kbd is the bis even with t100 existing
- its the passive, 20% incr damage isnt to laugh at
Iâm not talking about monster-bane (although that needs a rework too, like seriously? Basiliskbane? Wasilaskiwhateverbane?), Iâm talking about the style-bane weapons (hexhunter bow, terrasaur maul, inquisitor staff).
ah, its the bane word being used
thats what got me
I dont agree they need reworked but I 100% agree they arent as useful compared to the t100 legendary weapons
not everything needs to be the bis because name or w.e imo. new things come out, become bis and old things stop being bis
mage and range style-banes have been weaker than their t95 counterparts due to spec/passives
inq staff was exception cus u can use it freely while fsoa spec is active
ezk was eof fodder on release so that isnt exactly counted
i do think they need a re-gander at because they're ass to get and are even more not worth getting
Anyway I didnât mean to derail the thread, sorry everyone
Yeah but being worse should be balanced with being easier to get
Even considering the zamorakian undercity enchantments exist
Back to thread:
Deathtouched dart doesnt bother me. First cause dailyscape and merchant gives me them, second that theyre just so bad. After TH is gone, you cant amass a load of them
Killing a single boss ONCE will almost never give you 10m
Even if you expand the dart to stuff like aod, amascut, durzag and yakamaru
My iron has, like, 9 after 3 years playing
Whilst they donât bother me either, obvious counter point; a consumable item that enables skipping an entire boss fight probably isnât the best for integrity or game health
No matter the cost threshold
It doesnt skips the fight, because grind is the name of the game.
You cannot escape it, no one can
I do like dtd for the neiche use of saving a streak if everything is going bad
I mean, it quite literally -does- skip the fight, that is what DTDs do
Except telos and hard arch glacor are immune reeeeeeeeeee
Oh shit, the more you know
Definitely a use sparingly because itâs 1 phase but it can help save ya
I believe arch glacor does insta kill
I am wrong
Like, yeah. But that accomplishes nothing, unless you're insanely lucky. No achievements, no kc count and most likely no financial gain
But, still, would be better to just have decent matchmaking
even then
the point isn't whether its a good idea (its not, lets be honest)
its that having an item that bypasses the need to engage in the content isnt healthy game design
thats why they've taken aim at them
whilst zero kc boss logs are interesting, its not healthy
You need to be a huge whale to do that. Most logs needs more than 500 kc on average
You've ever seen one?
You're missing the point
This is a bit of a fallacy. We understand the point but the magnitude of dtd youâd actually need would be close to impossible to attain.
I donât disagree that skipping boss fights is bad for game health so DTD at the least need a rework. Iâd like to see a streak save utility or even some kind of HCIM emergency use thatâs highly rare to obtain.
This is your point, but I'm saying that the darts don't really do that
