👉🏼 It can be Toggled off for the potion recipes as there already is an option to do so for extra potion information. ☑️ It would save so much time and hassle by adding the ingredients in the Mouseover text of potions making it quicker to remember what you need to make the potion. There are so many potions in the game and the skill guide is not efficient when it comes to finding what is needed to make a potion if you don't know or don't remember it. The sorting is very poor on the skill guide. Maybe if you improve the sorting categories for potions to make it quicker to find such as making categories like "Super Potions" "Extremes" and such it would help, but putting the ingredients in the Mouseover Text would make it so much faster. And add them in the text of the GE or at least update the GE text to tell the boost info since it is missing on all potions. ( EDIT ) to add NEW THOUGHT: Perhaps the recipe can instead of the Mouseover text it can be added in the examine description instead like they do Combination runes.
#Potion Recipe Included in Mouseover text Please

as frusterating as this may be for you; I feel for you; but I feel the tooltips are bloated enough and shouldn't have crafting recipes included as it'll just relate to further issues down the line of other items then being pushed to do the same which could extremely over bloat tool tips more.
solution to your issue though.
/wiki *potion name*
type that in chat; it'll pull up the official wiki of that item which includes your recipe without looking
It would not add that much to the Mouseover text compared to some on Armor and weapons. I know about the wiki link and I use the wiki most of the time but what I am getting at is a quality of life update that would make it soo much faster then looking up in the wiki all the time. opening the wiki can slow down your game in some situations. Even improving the categories in the skill guide would be helpful, then you wouldn't have to open another window.
I think this idea is fine. Can literally just be a toggle for the potion recipes to display or not.
yeah I'm also team the tooltips are already too bloated on this. It lists them in the skill guide
I know, however the skill guide needs to be better. It's not that easy to quickly find what you want with so many potions it needs more categories to narrow down the list to better pinpoint what you are looking for. Like I never have a need to make Barbarian potions but it has a category but extremes and supers are made more often and there is no such sorting. I mentioned this as a preposed secondary solution. I don't use the skill guide much for this vary reason. I honestly don't see it as adding much to the mouseover text and it would be so much more helpful and add QoL. Imagine a new player, as you unlock more potions the list gets longer and longer. There are so many potions and many that do "almost" the same thing but have different ingredients. Anything that makes it a little simpler to find helps.
I would switch to the suggestion urging Skill Guide improvements rather then tooltips then.
Well but that is not my main suggestion. I stand on my main suggestion. It's ok if you don't agree but I think most people would like it. I disagree that it would add to much, a simple line like Herb, secondary is not too much even Herb, secondary, secondary. The only one that could be long would be Overloads, Supreme overloads, Elder overload salve and they could be simplified.
I guess part of what confuses me about this is why you'd add it to the potion itself - once you've got a potion, you don't need the recipe any more. even if we accept for the sake of argument that there is a need to put this information in more places, putting it on the finished potion feels like exactly the place it shouldn't be
There are two main reasons. 1st ~because there are so many potions in the game it can sometimes be hard to remember the recipe epically if you have been away from the game for a while or haven't made them it a while. While it is true that if you have the potion why should you need the recipe? Because of convenience if you have forgotten the recipe. *Second ~ and perhaps even a bigger reason is the skill guide in game is inefficient for the Herblore skill. I find myself taking far longer trying to find the potion itself then the information I need in the first place that being the recipe. I'll mention again the wiki is good but can slow down the game for some people opening different windows outside of the game. NEW THOUGHT: Perhaps the recipe can instead of the Mouseover text it can be added in the examine description instead like they do Combination runes. The only ones that would be more wordy is the overload potions but it would fade quickly and also be in the chat window. Any of these would make a nice QoL change and help players that have been away and new players alike.
Alternate solution: Search function in skill guide, "problem" solved.
The last thing we need is to clutter up tooltips on things. Fact of the matter is that it takes 30s to wiki it, or 30s to filter skill guide by potions and find it in the list.
This suggestion is an extreme 'overcorrection' for a problem that realistically doesn't really exist, or at the very least is miniscule enough that it doesn't warrant the suggested 'solution'.
Struggle to find potion recipes quickly? Suggest them adding a search bar to the SG instead, but even then you can already sort it by type and for the sake of further simplification if you do not know the rough level requirement of the potion, you can further sort them by name as well.
I couldn't agree more.
Cluttering the Tooltip would be horrendous.
and only result in a new problem rather then providing any true nessessary solution.
Did you read anything other than the title? I don't quite understand the "horror" over adding to the text. It's okay you don't agree but I don't see it as such a horrible thing when there is other things in game that are probably much longer. I also mentioned how people with connection problems would not have to open a window to the wiki. Like I said it's okay if you hate the suggestion but no one is telling me why it's so horrible and much different then what is already in game. Is there something wrong with convenance. At the very least the categories need expanding on the skill guide. A search bar could be nice.
It can have a toggle for the potion recipes to display or not. IN FACT there is already an option to hide the extra information on the potion tool tips.
Now you're honestly just inventing new, foundationally weak excuses...
You're asking if I read more than the title and yes, I did. Did you read my comment?
We are telling you why. It isn't necessary and just serves to clutter the tooltips further, and significantly so, for what at best would be a miniscule difference in convenience.
Again, a better solution that doesn't add any unnecessary clutter: Search function in the skill guides.
The existence of other larger tooltips is no good excuse for overloading more tooltips with superfluous information.
The existing skill guide is sufficient with good enough filters for the sake of swiftly being able to get the information.
Quite frankly, it's not worth the devtime it'd take to implement.
honestly a search function to the Skill Guides again I'd not be opposed as It would benefit not just Potion Making, but ultimately all Skills.
That being said though; The primary disagreement is strictly adding further information to to Tooltip as mentioned previous due to additional unnessessary clutter.
The Tooltop should be exclusively providing effects information as useful necessary information and to not overwhelm returning or even eventual new players.
Okay but you can already hide extra info so if you don't like to see more info just chose to not see it. I have a problem with finding potions on the current skill guide maybe you don't but that doesn't make it a bad idea just because you don't find it useful. Try to think about other people. I would not have made the suggestion if it didn't effect me. Some people have connection issues and opening the wiki makes it worse. If it can be hidden why would it bother you. You have made it clear you don't support it and the reason why. You don't have to beat it down because you disagree. I think you were a bit harsh because you may not have a problem but I don't find it so easy and both of your last two comments felt belittling and dismissive.
Toggle already in game, can be updated to include recipe.
yes but that would be hiding the important Info such as what the Potion effects exactly are.
Adding every Recipe needed to each potion is just unnessessary tooltip info.
because then what do you do when a Potion requires another Potion to be made?
your essentially stuck with the same issue all over again, nothing solved.
which most common potions do actually require another potion to be made, only the lower/mid tier do not; which realistically you wont be there for long.
I agree that Skill Guides could be improved; or simply use the Wiki which is already functioning extremely well, and is just another tabbed screen.
btw toggling this info off would actually remove a ton of other important information which may be useful; having to toggle on/off all because of potions would be pointless.
instead of being a Quality of Life; would actually become quiet the opposite to more players.
and this isn't me beating it down; I am simply explaining the reasoning and logic behind the statement, and suggesting alternative solutions.
which I do absolutely agree that the Skill Guides could have their search feature improvements.
I do not agree to bloat the tooltips with useless information to most simply for convience to some.
It would need a new separate toggle because having to choose to see recipe when you just want to see the potion effects would again cause excessive clutter.
I did think about other people, hence why i counter suggested a search bar in the skill guide. This benefits everyone without causing excessive tooltips.
Again, I don't buy the connection issue argument, you'd need to be on ancient dial up and honestly I'm pretty sure even that could pull off wiki and game without issue.
The reason I think it's a bad idea is because there are better solutions that are far less intrusive, likely without needing nearly as much dev time to achieve, so they can get back to working on other stuff quicker.
Have you tried filtering by name and using the skill guide that way? If you know the name of the potion it's incredibly easy to find when sorted that way
It dangerously opens the gates for far too many items, which the Skill Guide Search improvements benefit more then just potion making.
I think the steelman version of the connection issue argument is that on some mobile OSes you're logged out if the wiki takes focus (I think)
This is why I do agree having a Search bar added to the Skill Guides isn't a bad solution that benefits many skills.
